((I know you probably know but ideally take this a bit slow as we've only just arrived and you've gone through a few things before turning up. I'm just saying this for my own peace of mind))

Kura had noticed the arrival of yet more Arrancar. Such creatures were hard not to notice if even only slightly due to the considerable pressure they gave off however Kura had trouble differentiating between them none the less based on such things. She could not yet feel anything yet flaring up so she assumed they were only here to join in on the, what might be called, fun that was about to begin and so she did not pick up her shield or cast an eye on whoever had arrived as she stood up. Her armour clinked a little as she walked over to the tree halberd now in hand. Her body was not tense enough to imply she was about to attack but some less experienced fighters may not realise that.

"Shinigami. You won't be needing your black robes for a while. Lay them flat on the floor we're going to use them as a mat." She said calmly. It was without a doubt an order and although she showed no outward aggression it would be absurd to try challenging such a creature over something that was quite simply less important than their lives. She decided not to add any extra detail about it begin so they wouldn't get their rears covered in sand because it seemed like a mostly logical detail to her. Why say things which are logical at all?

Kura took her zanpakto in both hands and then began to chop the tree into vaguely plank like shapes. Each one in some way unique from the last be it longer or shorter or even shaped slightly like an oval. It was not long before she was done as she moved at a blistering pace with clean chops straight through the wood meeting almost no serious resistance (she was used to fighting creatures with hierros and wood seemed like a soft material by comparison) and threw them into a pile together to make something that looked vaguely like a bonfire.

"Shinigami. Light the wood." Even if they weren't going to be around long she would at least make them useful. If they were here then they should light is as they were not as likely to blow up the pile with balas and at the moment however strange it seemed there was not a single hollow that could breathe or create fire around. Truly mystifying. However she knew that shinigami all seemed to (with a few exceptions) fire lightning out of their hands and start fires.

”Huh? Hey!” Satsu’s head turned around as he heard one of the Shinigami, Carrot-chan, complain about her name. ”Carrot-chan is Carrot-chan if I say Carrot-chan is! And that’s final!” Satsu said with a Hmmph!, full of the indignation and pride that young children can possess in abundance. Still, it was fortunate that the red-headed and now red-faced Shinigami hadn’t said any word stronger than “brat”. It would have been in no one’s interest for the young Arrancar to run around with an arsenal of swear words he didn’t understand himself. He figured he would give Carrot the silent treatment as punishment.

Wow, it sure worked really well! Didn’t she just look sad and downright desolate? In the infinite kindness of his compassionate heart, Satsu decided that the silent treatment was a success and it was time for him to forgive her, merely a few seconds later. He walked over to the kneeling Shinigami, gave her a quick, misguided hug and pat on the head, and said. ”There, there Carrot-chan! I forgive you! Cheer up!” Satsu said, clearly misreading the origin of her emotional state. That’d be a bit much to expect from a child, as well as an Arrancar one to boot. In the next moment though, it appeared that another group had arrived and Satsu’s attention was quickly diverted by the new arrivals.

One of them looked like a girl with really long hair. She looked to be around Satsu’s age! Although actual ages were hard to say. Regardless, it looked like she was around his own height, which was a novel experience for him. Most people seemed to tower over the small Arrancar, yet his own Napoleon complex made him feel like he was the one who towered over others. So while the others were far out, Satsu began his own energetic wave to them. They had likely spotted the tree and the group of Shinigami and Arrancar, yet Satsu wanted to be absolutely certain! After all, the more the merrier! Another Arrancar appeared to have arrived. She didn’t seem like a nice person to be around by the way she acted, but Satsu wouldn’t judge a book by its cover right away, except he had anyways.

”Oh, these are my Shinigami- Hey I’m not a pipsqueak, you’re the pipsqueak, Pipsqueak!” Satsu first began with a flourish towards the Shinigami before he began his loud, fast, and nearly nonsensical retort. This other Arrancar stood 6’5” and was almost four times heavier than the boy. Yet he would persist, after nicknames stuck forever. And besides, she was rude! Hmmph! Satsu folded his arms. He had been taught to ignore bullies and unpleasant people. Maybe once she got taught a lesson by karma and became a nice person, then Satsu would be friends with her. But not now, instead he decided he had to check up on the Shinigami.

As he turned around, he noticed Kura-chan-san-senpai-kun-tan was busy chopping down a tree while she told the Shinigamis to use their black robes as a mat and to light the firewood she had. Which reminded Satsu he was still wearing his kosode. Satsu neared the wood of the bonfire, took off his kosode and set up in what he believed to be an ideal spot, and laid his messenger bag on top if. Then he motioned over to the Shinigami. ”Hey hey! Put your robes over here and light the fire!” He shouted over, aggressively motioning them over as he stood in his usual Arrancar attire that actually fit.

Angel eyed the one known as Kura and was tempted to argue with her, but he knew the situation they were in and held his tongue. He tilted his head and gave the woman a curious look as him and the others were asked to strip and burn some wood. He growled, but sighed and nodded as he took off his shinigami robes and folded them in to a mat. His under shirt and pants were both black, but the shirt didnt cover up the many scars that covered his arms. He walked over to one of the pieces of wood and picked it up before he smiled and nodded, "Hado 4. Byakurai." He said as he pointed his fingers at the wood making a spark of lightning shoot from his finger tips. It hit the wood with a thud and lit it on fire.

He set the wood down and let it burn before he sat on his robes and looked around at the Arrancar. At the moment he couldnt see any number on their bodies which made his sigh with relief. At least they weren't Espada. He looked from Kura to the one called Satsu then to the other Arrancar that just arrived at the area. He once again began to wonder why a group of powerful Arrancar would need them. It made his head spin with confusion.

She wasn't going in there. That was for certain. As she watched as more and more shinigami rose; her fears began to heighten. She wasn't stupid; by far. Shinigami were bad news; especially in her terrain. She crouched low, watching the chaos that was emerging; her blue eyes hidden behind her long flowing black hair. She looked up at Torrik and then back down to the crowd.

"I don't want to go in there Torrik. It's bad news." She said simply. She wasn't against attacking a single weak shinigami; but to have quiet a few that out numbered the arrancar; was ridiculous. It was asking for trouble. She tucked her hands inside her sleeves and crouched low; deep in thought.

"Why are there so many Shinigami? Are we getting attacked?"

She looked up at him again and genuinely looked afraid for a moment. To be attacked after finding her big brother so soon? She couldn't lose him again; she reached out and grabbed his pant leg and steadied herself with it comfortingly. "Do we have to go in?"

And then she spotted the strange Arrancar that... looked like her. She narrowed her eyes, immediately feeling strangely about it. She pulled herself closer to torrik, just as the one who looked like her, waved. She felt her heart skip a beat; though she wasn't sure why. "Torrik... that boy looks like me doesn't he?"

With his hands resting lazily in his pockets, Lucien slowly strolled across the white, seemingly never ending desert towards the location where several souls seemed to have gathered. What was such a congregation doing out in the middle of nowhere? Even more peculiar was the fact that several members of the group possessed spiritual energy that felt nothing like that of a hollow. Could it be that Hueco Mundo was being invaded by the Shinigami? A sly smile crept across Lucien's face at the thought. At the very least an invasion would liven things up in this cold, lifeless desert. Perhaps it was even the meeting he had heard whispered about among the hollows. With a spring in his step and nothing but the light of the moon to light his way, Lucien hastened his journey towards the horizon, beyond which the gathering awaited.

With the assistance of sonido, it wasn't long before Lucien's eyes gazed upon the horde of hollows that had gathered around what appeared to be a large, green tree. Closest to the tree he could see two Arrancar, a young boy and a woman, as well as a small group of rather lost and confused looking Shinigami. "Poor things. Though, I suppose this wouldn't be much of a party without appetizers." He whispered to himself with a hint of hunger in his voice. In an instant, Lucien vanished from his spot atop a dune and reappeared upon the head of the largest hollow there, granting him a nice view of both the party and its surroundings. Whether the hollow didn't notice him or simply chose to ignore his existence was unknown, but the creature simply continued to silently stand and stare blankly at the large tree before him. Satisfied with the spot he had chosen, Lucien slowly lowered himself into a seated position with his legs crossed. As his gaze shifted from one face to the next, he absentmindedly removed a long silver kiseru pipe from within his coat and slipped it between his lips. After a quick packing of herbs into the bowl and a strike of a match, a sweet white smoke began to flow from the pipe and playful dance in the air around him. For now he would simply sit quietly and watch as he waited for the festivities to begin.

“You—you have your fire,” Danny addressed Kura, the arrancar who had demanded that the shinigami lay aside their shihakusho and light the fire. One of their number had acquiesced without much hesitation, and she didn’t blame him. Posed with the threat of several apparently powerful arrancar as well as a rabid host of hollows, it didn’t seem prudent to be overly combative. At the same time, she didn’t want to give the arrancar the impression that the shinigami could be bullied, and, anyway, Danny herself didn’t wear the classic shihakusho, and she felt absolutely no desire to strip to her skivvies in front of the enemy.

But were they the enemy? The Shinigami Academy would have her believe that things were black and white, but nothing was ever quite that simple. For all that he had more or less kidnapped them, the kid who’d brought them here hadn’t seemed overtly aggressive. Danny didn’t think she could harm a child, even an arrancar.

“Return us to Soul Society,” She said. Fear, coupled with her usual aversion to public speaking, was making her stomach do flips. More arrancar were arriving by the minute, and every moment, Danny felt the prospect of a peaceful resolution slip farther away. She clutched her dagger in a white-knuckled grip, but otherwise tried to betray no sign of her discomfort. “Whatever this is, it’s your affair. We want no part in it,”

Kura, pleased with the fire, decided not to sit down quite yet and instead actually go over to talk to Danny. Hollow to Shinigami. She saw no point of antagonising her and instead would make the situation crystal clear to her. She was nearly certain that if the need presented itself she could if the need presented itself incapacitate a Shinigami temporarily or disarm them. In fact considering Danny was using a dagger and Kura a shield and halberd the fight would be decided purely on that if they were at equal levels of power.

She came close to the woman face to face and removed her helmet slipping it under her shoulder so Danny could get a good look at whatever expression her face betrayed of her true thoughts lit up by the fire. Her hair was too short to get in the way of her eyes so removal was a fairly simple procedure.

"Keep quiet. I will return you personally when the time comes. Don't make yourself a target for the less reasonable hollow here." Kura explained with calmness in her tone. It was true she did not wish particularly to see the shinigami hurt however she wasn't especially concerned about their safety. Rather how Satsu has unwittingly brought vulnerable and yet trusted individuals into her path. She saw no reason why recruits wouldn't be willing to listen to her side of the argument. What was a few years of propaganda when you could see the state of Hueco Mundo with one's own eyes.

"If you are scared sit with me. I will ensure your safety" The offer was genuine. There had been nothing in Kura's expression that suggested she had any ill intentions. Stepping away with the crowd of shinigami with her back turned she placed her white helm illuminated by an orange glow back over her head and walked over to her chair to sit down where she had left her halberd and shield. That would serve as another sign that she meant no harm. Even if they did not trust her words Kura knew through experience that it was actions that spoke the loudest.

Natsuki pondered over the situation further after even more powerful arrancar arrived on the scene. To be sure now this group stood no chance against these arrancar should they decide to fight. The armored one called Kura requested fire and mats from the shinigami. Certainly that was simple enough to accomplish for the shinigami but Natsuki felt that this wasn't the only reason for which they were brought to this place. Removing the overcoat from her uniform she placed it neatly upon the ground before returning to her standing position. The white under wrapping was a bit thinner and caused a slight chill to creep across her frame as she process Kura's next few words to Danny.

"If our safety was a major concern we'd never have been brought here." Natsuki exclaimed her neutral tone finally ringing out after the period of silence. "I'd imagine this little get together of yours required us for more then fire lighting and floor mats. If you wanted to make yourselves known there were certainly other ways to go about doing it." She explained rather casually looking over the arrancar for reaction. "Since I view both sides, Hollows and shinigami, as though they were two sides on a battlefield I definitely have no right to claim anything wrong about your way of existence. I will say however my role as well as my future orders ensure my side as a shinigami." she paused momentarily adjusting her headband before going on with her commentary, "Just remember your actions here have consequences and though something appears dormant and weak it can often be that it is in fact powerful and active." She finished sitting down all the while observing the group before her once more.

Quinones Torrik Acilino

PostPosted: Thu Feb 02, 2012 4:39 pm

Still keeping his distance at the top of the dune, Torrik gazed down at the mass collecting before them. Momentarily ignoring Accapello's remarks, his imagination had flown elsewhere and he felt as though he were watching a group of ants gathering around an offering of discarded broccoli. The thought was amusing to him until someone had to go and light the tree on fire. Now the broccoli offering had become a sacrifice. The figures in black were also disrobing. Torrik’s assumption of this was if the shinigami were there as campfire snacks, their clothing would only get in the way. It bewildered him that they’d resign themselves to this so easily.

Although he didn't really need the light to be able to see from his distance, the flame managed to illuminate something that struck Torrik as even more odd. A shinigami was actually conversing with the female arrancar, who had finally taken off her helmet- registering as a sign of trust, confidence or just stupid. The scene didn't show any sign of a hostile or threatening atmosphere. Unfortunately, he wasn't close enough to hear what they were talking about and he was hesitant to approach any further.

"No."
came a single response to the majority of Accapello's concerns. After seeing such a jacked-up spectacle, he wasn't going to expose himself or his young fraccion so easily. He could care less if another arrancar looked like her, but he knew instantly that he didn't like the little loud-mouthed turd the second his eyes fell upon him. Among the shinigami, there was a voice that Torrik was able to slightly understand- something of a speech or whatever. Upon hearing some of her words he readied himself to see the inevitable fight break out. His kind didn’t appreciate being reprimanded.

"Hn." Kodate grunted to himself at the request. It was better than dying, as he previously thought. The idea of disrobing made little sense to him, however. If they were being supplicant, what use would their shihakusho be? It wasn't like body armor, that would protect them. Regardless, he stuck a side of his shield into the sand, and pulled his hand out of the gauntlet inside that kept it in place. Pulling on it rather harshly, he managed to remove most of his top in one go, displacing it from the hakama. With another tug he freed himself of the offending material and he threw it rather unceremoniously onto the ground. He didn't have anything covering his upper body so everyone got a nice view, then, of the hard body that came from unrelenting years of physical honing. He looked around at the hollows that had gathered, and a sense of dread made his innards writhe. This woman said that they were safe for now, but who knows what that really means.

He picked his shield back up, sliding his arm back into the wraps, gripping the metal hold at the end for support. His body was tense, still, tall and muscular as he stood there bent slightly at the knees. His green eyes flashed with vitality as they darted from hollow to hollow, waiting for something to happen. He didn't know what they wanted, but he'd be damned if he was going to be caught lax in the thick of it. He would at least take down one of the monsters before he died. He didn't trust any of this, at all. Kodate didn't care one iota if he was the only one that still appeared defensive, he would stay that way until he was either beaten into submission, tied down, inoculated with a sedative, or disarmed.

"Better question." Kodate interjected after Natsuki decided to be all high-and-mighty about this. "What do you want?"

Angel looked around at the other shinigami and sighed as he watched some of them begin to snap at the Arrancar. He took a deep breath himself and stayed quiet as he listened to the others talk. He closed his eyes and decided to meditate until they needed him for some other reason. He began to focus his reitaus in to a calming wave, but his eyes snapped open when he felt the presence of two other Arrancars. He looked in the direction he felt their reiatsu. Once seemed hesitent to come closer so he looked at that one. Although his vision wasnt the best he could make out the form of a girl. He noticed someone standing next to her, but he kept his eyes on the girl.

His attention slowly returned to the Arrancar around them. He tilted his head as he heard Kodate's question. He was wondering this as well. Why would a group of powerful Arrancars need the help of a regular shinigami and a bunch of graduates. He let out a sigh as he rubbed his head and looked to the woman with the helm on, "Honestly im a little curious myself."

Yasumeh continued to trudge across the desert. He was making progress, but without the aid of shunpo it was extremely slow. On the positive side he had yet to feel any bursts of power meaning no fighting had begun yet. This very fact perplexed him slightly, perhaps they where intending on using the recruits for ransom, or perhaps they where merely held by the insane who had yet to decide what, if anything that was to become of their hostages. His mind turned over the possibilities in his head, trying to steel himself for what was to come and yet without any real information on those particularly responsible any exact detailing or predictive maneuvering would be nothing more than guess work. His zanpaktou remained quite as usual in his scabbard, partially because of the lazy nature of the spirit and partially because it neither wanted to draw any undo attention until absolutely necessary.
His eyes tracked the endless expanse before him, his thoughts racing through each of the names given of those that had disappeared. He had only scant info on each and cursed himself for not having the time to learn more knowing how much of an advantage it could have given on formulating an escape. Many of them being from different squads didn't help the matter either, it would make cohesion of following orders difficult do to their training and the sheer fact of experience that few present had. Some where certainly going to be more valuable than others, yet having not even met the vast majority he was only gauging their abilities based on brief summaries that where shoved in his face for the time it took to create the gateway here. He glanced behind him, still wondering how long it would take for the other captains, or at least one other captain, to arrive.

((I asked Zavits if it was okay. She's fine with it. I think.))

Kura listened only briefly to the Natsuki girl. The others had simply raised similar concerns and as she was decidedly the speaker for the Arrancar at the moment it fell upon her to make their intentions quite clear. She would explain not only in words but also through her actions what precisely she intended to do about the whole situation. By the time she was done she was certain that none of them would dare make a sound again. It was for their own good and by extension Kura's own. She only hoped that the other hollows wouldn't see this as an opportunity to devour the Shinigami. They would have their usefulness.

In an instant without using a sonido Kura was right above the sitting shinigami Natsuki her intent clear as she had not moved this fast previously. She had said too much. Been just a little too brave. The others were less so and by crushing Natsuki's fearlessness she was sure she could stop the rest of them. If nothing else they'd learn how hopeless their situation was when trying to deal with her hierro and armour in a attempt to break Natsuki free. One armoured boot slammed down on the Shinigami's upper arm not hard enough to break the bones but enough to cause serious pain. Kura began to lean in to speak to her.

"Why ask us? Do you expect a reasonable or sane answer from a hollow?" Kura's armoured hand curled around Natsuki's unprotected neck gently. A cold iron grip suddenly began to crush her neck. Kura pulled her foot from the young girl's arm and placed it on the floor again and dragged Natsuki up by her neck. "Why threaten us? Do you think we cannot prevent your growth now?" Kura's eyes were sharp and cold. Without hate but yet would give a clear message to Natsuki who would be able to see them most clearly. Kura was absolutely willing to kill Natsuki at a moment's notice if she ever tried anything.

There being no serious need to kill a young Shinigami though she decided to avoid such a thing. She dropped Natsuki straight from her hand. It was only a few inches from the ground however having the wind crushed from her was going to make the fall harder on Natsuki. It was probable that her legs might fall from under her without the oxygen necessary to hold them up. "You should remember your inaction has consequences too." Kura ended there. If Natsuki was too stupid to work out what she meant then she was a waste of time anyway. If she attacked her she was a waste of time and Kura would dispatch her. "Sit down. Be quiet." Kura had thought this merely a logical path to take in this sort of situation but logic did not seem to come easy to shinigami. It was a waste of breath but she explained it anyway. They were recruits and therefore most prime for retraining.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 07, 2012 6:53 pm

Kodate stood there with teeth clenched as he watched this scene unfold. He wanted to help. Strike out at this armored devil to save the girl. But he knew full well if he actually did that he would be mercilessly torn in half. Instead he watched. He waited. It was all he could do, really. And when she was dropped, he immediately took action. He pulled his arm from the shield, and slung it over his back. Running towards Natsuki, he dropped to his knees next to her, and without much thought propped her head up to help her breathe. Whether she wanted the help or not wasn't a question in his head.

"Breathe calmly." He instructed softly, not looking up at the arrancar that had done this damage. "Don't force too much air in at once; you may damage something." He was genuinely concerned about her, as he was the rest of the fledgling shinigami here. They were his allies, his kindred, and in some roundabout way his friends. Maybe not good ones, but you had to stick together. So they don't want to kill us...then why the hell are we here?! Why the hell are we being trapped here, surrounded by hundreds of the hungry things? What could possibly be the purpose?

Danny was only a step behind Kodate as he slung his shield over his back and came to Natsuki's aid. He'd propped her head up and was instructing her to breathe calmly, which was as good advice as any. She could already see the bruises forming, dark and angry against the pale skin of Natsuki's neck. Considering the force with which Kura had kicked her, Danny wouldn't have been surprised in comparable bruises had surfaced on her arm.

She knelt to assess the injury, rolling up the sleeve of Natsuki's shihakusho with care. It was obvious that the kick had done some damage-- the area was red and darkening into another bruise. This type of injury she could easily take care of: she pressed the tips of her fingers to the wound and called up her reiatsu, bathing the bruised muscle and coaxing the broken blood vessels to knit together while draining the excess fluid that was beginning to build up. It was the simplest of chiyudō-- Danny's training in the field had been cut unfortunately short-- but it did the job.

"I can take care of this," She murmured to Kodate as she turned her attention to Natsuki's neck. Kodate's shield was an indispensable line of defense, she reasoned, and he certainly looked like her could take a punch. Her expertise also lay in defense, but she also had the means to heal Natsuki, so it made more sense for her to care for any wounded while he focused on the enemy. Her fingers were gentle as she applied the same healing kido to the bruising at Natsuki's neck. A glace at the girl's arm told her that the injury was already healing, which was a small victory, though the situation remained rather grim.

Danny's anger was always a slow-burning thing, but she could feel it growing now, seething red-hot in her belly. Loosing her temper wouldn't help, she knew that, but the thought of paying Kura back in kind was terribly tempting. It was an effort to keep her touch gentle as she worked. She couldn't help but picture breaking Kura's nose.

[I'm sorry for puppeting your character a little, Zavits. And I don't mean to seem like I'm shooing your character away, Hymn ><']
