Oh bby Mort knows all about brains short-circuiting.
The more the mantodae talked, the more Mort became confused. "Er . . ." He scratched his head. "Are good friends, yes? Why cancel? Lotta ghouls scare r' somethin'?" Granted, he did know that feel, bro: he'd met several rather strong individuals that proved it - one including the swayer-in-the-breeze at the gates prior.

Oh, right. That was why he was going. For Alexander. And Alexander's mother was expecting him as well. And he was not scared, no matter how much his brain and body told him otherwise. "Being around a lot of ghouls is not...comfortable for me." Okay, so it was not precisely the truth, but he was not going to admit to a stranger that yes, he was frightened of the idea of Alexander's sisters.
"I suppose ghouls are not reason enough to cancel..."

Half of him wanted to ask, half of him didn't. To meet in the middle, Mort phrased his question differently than an outright "Why?", which was a step forward from his usual blurt outs; maybe it helped that Yin was a boil. Word vomit did tend to happen around the opposite sex, now that he thought about it. "If can ask, what b-be you? Not seen kind before." Maybe it had something to do with his raising or something - Yin didn't seem to know much about zombies before this conversation, which at least told him some norms were not being met.

Yin was about to answer that he was quite obviously a boil (considering what they were discussing) but then he said kind, and the question made a bit more sense. "I am a mantodae, a weremantis if you will. The clan that I came from is very secluded. Few of the outside know of us, much less about us." He did not really elaborate on anything else, he should not have told Alexander as many things about the Clan as he had, but telling someone much about his background during their first true meeting was not likely to happen.

"Mrrrr . . . Is secluded, yes, not heard of." What was it with the were-somethings anyway? He got werewolves, but then he met Natalia who was a werelemur, and now there was a weremantis? ouo Though he supposed it was like how there were subsets of zombies in a way. "Guess be why n-not know. Can understand, had to learn too 'cuz house away from cities." Mort didn't like revealing that he hadn't been born in Halloween, as it felt like it made him lower-class than the undead that did; having once been human and all. The Hunters certainly made having even a remote tie to their species make him want to puke.
"But is friends with Alex, yes? Am friends too." Even if their bonding experience had been . . . interesting. "If good friends, should n-not matter if have many ghouls. Would have fun n'way, yes?"

Yin mulled over that bit of advice carefully. Well, they were friends, and pretty close, so it did seem natural that he could face a few ghouls on this trip. And if he did get a chance to relax it would probably be a very enjoyable time. He nodded. "That seems to be sound advice. I must thank you Mort, you have given me several things to consider."
He smiled at him, "if you have need of me in the future feel free to ask. Now then, Miss Lanna is reminding me that Princess Eva is probably ready for her own walk, so I should probably head back. I hope to see you again soon." He gave Lanna one last pat on the head before he turned to head back to the monster dorms, having several things to contemplate. Well, three things. Three terribly horrifying things.
