Mitsu's sad gaze followed the flower as it fell into the brush and out of sight. It looked like she might cry...oh wait she already was but at least her sneezing had stopped. Soon her sniffling and watery eyes would clear as well.

A little dejected, Mitsu nodded and continued to follow Shun again. There was a moment of silence before she spoke, perhaps too upset to speak. "So..where are we going?"

Seeing an almost immediate reaction, Shun let out a breath, glad to have that done with. It was a bit of a poor decision on his part to give her that flower at first, but now he knew for future references at the very least.

"Up this path. Towards a nice outlook. From there you can get a pretty good look around the area. It'll take a little bit to reach, but we should be fine for time," he answered. It was still pretty early right now and all.

Up ahead on the path, a squirrel sat there, rooting around for some buried nuts.

"An..outlook?" Mitsu tilted her head curiously as she asked though she couldn't help but spot the small woodland creature.

Her eyes focused on it her head turning slowly in that direction. Ears were perked high on her head, her hands reaching up to wipe the remaining moisture from her eyes. She sniffled one last time before it seemed her nose was finally starting to clear. Mitsu could smell again and the scent of the squirrel hit her. Why was it so intriguing? She really had no idea.

"Yeah. A natural one. Not like an outpost tower or anything of that sort," he nodded as he ducked under a low branch. Hearing her sniff again, Shun looked around before spotting the squirrel ahead. It must have been what caught her attention.

The little critter took note of them too. And thus, it froze in place, unsure yet if it should flee. It looked as if it was about to do so at any moment. That is, if they continued to approach.

Maybe if Mitsu had been paying attention she might have thought about that fact that outlook meant looking out over something. Which meant you were usually high up. That thought, didn't cross her might though. She was far too focused on the tiny creature in their path. The squirrel was staring at her, she was staring at it. For a moment it was like a stand off and there was silence as Mitsu said nothing.

Then, she dared to move darting forward after the squirrel hoping to close the distance. Why? She needed to catch it. Why? She would figure that out when she caught it.

Before Shun knew it, Mitsu had bolted off towards the squirrel. The critter did not stay put and just ran off.

"Mitsu! Wait!" he called out as he started to run after her.

Why was she chasing after a squirrel of all things? Was it her canine heritage? For that matter, did all canine students chase squirrels? It was something he never questioned before but now he was a bit curious. In any case, he didn't think about it for long as he just worked on keeping up with her... maybe even try to stop her if possible.

She couldn't hear or her brain was switched off so that she wasn't listening. Either way she kept running, following the squirrel off the path and through the woods. Mitsu went darting in and around trees, over logs, and under bushes with no real regard to the abuse she was sustaining. Thankfully it was minor.

The only main problem was that she wasn't looking up ahead. Her eyes were so focused on the tiny creature she had no idea where it was going and the look out was drawing near. Eventually she was going to run out of room to run, especially if the squirrel kept to its current path.

"Mitsu!" Shun called out again, hoping she would stop running. It wasn't easy traversing through the forest at this speed, but his skills in parkor did help some. He thought of shadow stepping ahead, but decided against it. Doing so would likely cause the two of them to collide, which wouldn't be good at the pace they were running.

The squirrel continued to rush away, before it finally darted up one of the trees in hope it would be safe up there.

The chase continued through the forest until Mitsu spotted the squirrel run up a tree. She followed sliding to a stop at the base of the tree. Mitsu couldn't climb so instead she stood at the bottom staring up circling to tree trying to keep an eye on the squirrel.

"T..the squirrel. It went up to tree.." She started to mutter. "I need to get it." It sounded gravely important for whatever reason.

Catching up to Mitsu, Shun reached out to grab her by the shoulder. She seemed hellbent on getting that squirrel.

"Mitsu. Mitsu. Listen to me. You don't need to get the squirrel," he said while trying to turn her around. He needed to snap her out of whatever instinctive hold she was currently under, "If you're hungry, we have food with us. We don't need to catch it."

"B..but, the squirrel, I need..." Mitsu mumbled out while Shun was talking, feeling the hands on her shoulders but not turning to face him. When he ended up turning her, Mitsu's eye line was still in the trees searching, seeking, ready to follow the squirrel should it dart off again.

"B..but I..." The longer her eyes continued to search and find no sign of the small rodent, the easier it was for Mitsu to come to her senses. Her unblinking gaze finally shifted down, her eyes almost clearing from her supposed trance. Once she seemed to collect herself she looked puzzled, confused, and a bit embarrassed. "I'm uhh..." Finally she turned to look at Shun before looking to the ground sheepishly. "Sorry....I don't know what came over me." She said quietly fidgeting with her shirt. Mitsu honestly didn't know why she had chased the squirrel it just seemed like the right thing to do. It was like chasing a ball but with a bit more of a challenge to it.

Calmly, Shun continued to hold onto Mitsu, waiting for her to get a hold of herself. In the back of his mind, he was wondering if there was some sort of way to train her so that she wouldn't get overtaken like instincts like that. He realized it could be one way to lure her into a trap or even possibly distract her in dire situations.

"I think that's your canine instincts taking over. We may have to try and help you reign those in so they don't completely take over like that," he said simply before letting go of her now. They had strayed from their path a bit, but not too far at least.

"Are you ready to move on?" he asked.

"My...instincts?" Mitsu paused taking that in, the jittery feeling to chase finally easing away. She took a deep breath then finally feeling like herself once more. It was such an odd feeling to overtake her. The werewolf hadn't experienced anything quite like it back in the city or even at school though admittedly there weren't a lot of small woodland creatures inside where she was studying and generally she was distracted when they were walking around campus. Here, where there was nothing but trees and wildlife there wasn't much else to focus on. In the heat of the moment she had done what had felt right but it had turned out to be wrong. How did one fight instincts?

"I...I guess so," Mitsu said wearily, shifting her backpack back onto her shoulders before following Shun back to the path.

Nodding to Mitsu, Shun started to walk on back towards the path, at a fairly steady pace. The ground here away from the main area was a little rougher, so he was taking care where he was stepping.

"Yes. While I'm sure some of your lupine instincts can be useful, I don't think all of them are completely beneficial," he explained, "If a Hunter were to have a ball.. for example."

He was trying to think of ways to deal with this sort of thing. It partially had to do with focus but.. since he had no instincts like that, he couldn't be certain what would work.

"On the other hand, you may be able to pick up on danger more easily. Or it might help you take on a more protective stance in a dire time," he added. He wasn't sure if her instincts really came into play for those areas, but it was possible he supposed.

Mitsu was listening, she really was, but she was having a really hard time trying to imagine why a Hunter would have a ball. They didn't seem to be the type to be into play time, though she still had no idea Derykion had actually been a hunter in disguise. If she knew that then maybe imagining a hunter with a ball wouldn't be so hard though the image of the demon would probably still come to mind.

"I...I dunno," Mitsu admitted. "I've only been in a few situations where it would be needed...and I don't know that it helped much." She knew during the field trip she had felt very protective of the injured Shun. Mitsu refused to leave him even when he told her to go. The lycan had done her best to watch out for him and protect him but that situation had been so new she had been in a panic. Would she be more prepared now? "Maybe next time...I won't be so blindsided. I had never been in a situation like the field trip or with the creatures at christmastival time."

Figuring it best to change the subject now that they were back on the path and heading toward the outlook, Mitsu decided to ask a question she had been thinking over, especially now that it looked like there was a clearing of some sort ahead. "So, what's an outlook like? Is it just like a clearing?"
