Bari had her own idea of who to fight. "This time I'm going to kill you!" she declared with eerie cheer, laughing and starting a canter directly at Samsara. In the back of her mind, Bari could still feel Samsara's claws raking her back. The terror from that day still screamed within her, adding to the cacophonous tumult that wasn't quite sanity anymore.

Haya wasn't going to allow this. "Bari, GET OUT OF THE WAY!" He charged from behind her, swept his head down, and bodily shoved her from his path. Never before had he used force on a fellow herdmate but never before had he had to keep an insane mare from getting herself killed by skinwalker claws. She cried out and rolled off to one side but was now out of the action. There were enough defenders that she wasn't going to draw any attacks, she just had to stay out of the way until the fight was over.

With Bari gone, that just left him and his daughter. They locked eyes with each other, silver meeting gold. Then, their fight began.

Scythe let out a growl of his own as the skinwalker seemed to nearly attach himself to his head. He shook fiercly, trying to loosen the stallion's hold of him. Unable to shake him, Scythe tried his best to use his teeth to grab ahold of the feline's coat.

He was so focused on his own fight that he didn't see Haya go toe to toe with Samsara. He would not have been happy with that decision, but he was in no position to be able to help his son with his battle.

Snorting, he shook again.

Zulian felt Scythe grab onto his fur but his grip was still too strong to be dislodged. He did some thrashing of his own to try to dislodge the stallion but the position was simply too awkward to allow any sort of counterattack. He had worked himself into a dead end position and realized he had no choice but to pull back if he wanted to actually do any damage.

He tried to think of a good curse to launch at the stallion but only managed a yowling growl instead. He abruptly let go of the horns and dropped back to the ground, spinning away and leaving Scythe with a mouth full of fur. He needed to restart this fight and this time not make the idiot move of locking himself into a position he could do no damage from. He flattened himself to the ground and roared, ready to pounce!

He felt the grip of the tiger loosen just before his attacker let go and regained his composure. Scythe had been left with nothing but fur in his mouth. Quickly he spat out what he could, never removing his eyes from the feline.

"Come on then!" he challenged, his voice booming. As the tiger made himself ready to attack, Scythe unfurled his wings and broadened his chest. Yes, he was old, but it did not change the fact that he was a large and rather intimidating warrior. He pawed at the ground twice before moving in.

He reared, his front hooves smashing down in attempts to pound his opponent into the very earth that he stood on. He had no intentions of killing anyone here today, but he would go to whatever lengths was needed to save his herd...his family.

Something caught in Rosi's ear that wasn't the typical sounds of combat and when he looked to find its source his eyes settled on Padma. Was she throwing insults at him? Did she think that was going to get him riled up or something? He couldn't help but snort at the thought. They were in the middle of a battle, the least he was worried about was being called name. But, in truth, he was getting riled up. Not because he was so conceited as to be enraged by insults, but because of the simple fact that she thought he would. And after all...everyone else had already engaged in their own fights, so it seemed that this mare would be his opponent.

"You want to play then we'll play." While he face had grown a bit more serious now, there was still a wild smirk. Changing his course, Rosi flew towards Padma, then right over her with legs kicking. Normally he would have some reservations about not only attacking, but trying to kill, a mare. But the rush of battle had completely thrown those out of the window. Besides, he wanted to please Samsara, and not just because of what she would do to him if he failed.

Zulian had personally fought and killed more soquili than anyone else in the Mahapadma combined, including Samsara. It was a favorite habit of his. He liked seeing the way that different soquili would react to impending death. Some cried and begged, others were in denial to the very end. Often he could guess which a soquili would be before the fight even started. He was good at predicting prey behavior.

The big stallion, Zulian knew that he would stay fighting until the very end. He predicted that, but more importantly, he predicted where Scythe was about to strike. Zulian slammed down with his front paws and send himself upward. As the stallion slammed down he rose to his hind legs, narrowly avoiding a heavy hit. From this position he slashed downwards, aiming to slice at the stallion's vulnerable neck!

Padma wondered if she'd really made the right idea. She had been expecting the stallion to land, not to fly at her and attack her from the air. It didn't seem fair. She didn't have wings and couldn't exactly chase him when he was flapping around! With a startled grimace she ducked and ran from Rosiotti's swoop. She just barely avoided getting hit, but she wasn't exactly giving an impressive showing by running away instead of counterattacking.

"Come down here and fight for real!" she shouted up at him angrily. "Don't just flap around like some stupid turkey!" Turkeys weren't known for their adeptness in flight, but Padma didn't let this little detail stop her from flinging the insult.

Svanbjorn grappled with the two males, Glissando and Nirvana. It should be the skinwalkers fighting two, not me! he thought with aggravation. He didn't feel in danger of being killed by those two. They probably didn't even know how to kill another soquili. Svan was quite familiar with the process of murder, but it was going to be excessively difficult while both of them were trying to batter him.

He flapped his wings and lunged at one only to be knocked away by the other. He snapped at the father and tore away a chunk of mane but didn't get more than that. Both sides were only really succeeding in bruising each other so far with no real damage done. With Samsara right there, Svanbjorn attempted to heighten his efforts. He'd have someone a lot more dangerous to face than the two stallions if he didn't perform well today.

Oh how her voice grated oh his ears. Even more so when his hooves didn't even land a single blow. Rosi wanted to sink his teeth into her throat and silence her stupid blabbering. And he certainly wasn't going to obey her command, especially since his flight seemed to make her unnerved. Wheeling around, he moved in for another strike, dropping down lower for a better chance at hitting Padma this time.

"Oh, but the the view is much better from up here." There was a time when he would have tried to flirt with Padma, rather than fight her. But he didn't look at mares as cherished beings anymore. Now they were nothing more than a player in whatever twisted game he wanted to play.

Daimhin was fighting the smallish pink mare holding a sword. What was remarkable to him was how difficult it actually was. Most soquili didn't wander around carrying human weapons, so he had no idea how to respond to her. The long bit of metal gave her a reach that he couldn't get past. His larger size should have been an advantage, but it was proving itself to just make himself a bigger target instead.

He grunted in pain when the sword nicked a foreleg. He had several similar injuries. They weren't dangerous of themselves, but they might grow into more of a problem if he kept getting hit. He tried to hit her from the side but she twisted her neck and poked the troublesome piece of metal from that angle too. This fight was going nowhere fast, and it was driving him crazy.

"Maybe if you took yourself out of the picture, the view from down here would be better too!" shouted Padma to the feline stallion. She itched with impatience to start fighting back against this creep. She was little better than dead weight while she was taunting him and having no real effect. "Like I said! Come down here and-" Her eyes bugged out as the stallion dived at her again. She wasn't as prepared this time and his blow caught her off guard.

She took the hit square on. She fell over and rolled several times before coming to a stop, her long mane twisted around her and tangled in her necklace. The wind was knocked out of her and she felt a stinging pain course through her but she didn't think anything was broken. Tears blurred her vision, more out of shock than pain. Cry later! She scolded herself. She'd taken harder hits than this in some of their more serious fight practices. She could do it.

"Why don't you come down here and try that again?" she wheezed, staggering back up to her feet.

Glissando yelled and jerked his head back. He had been a hair's breadth away from having an eye gouged out by the attacking cerynei/kalona. His face was bleeding from the attack but he still felt that he had gotten off easy from that strike. The only problem was that now the blood running from his torn skin was falling into an eye. He was blinded on that side even if he still had both eyes intact.

"Dad... take him for a while!" He staggered backward and out of combat distance. He shook his head and sprayed blood droplets, then rubbed it quickly against the fur of his shoulder. He didn't want to leave his father fighting alone for long...

Nirvana sidestepped between Glissando and the kalona. One of the three feathers on his head was bent askew and another was torn away entirely. He was bleeding too, but nowhere that caused the same sort of debilitation as his son. "Stay back, demon!" he snorted. A flame had kindled inside Nirvana. It felt almost as if that tiny light was emitting through his skin... and it was.

The softest of glows surrounded Nirvana. It was the holy light, an ability of the angeni race. Nirvana, a half-angeni, had never before touched this power. Slowly it bloomed in him, responding to his moment of need.

Scythe's age was definitely against him. He saw the feline change direction, but Scythe was unable to change his direction to match. He felt the sharp claws of his competitor come dragging down over his neck. He jerked away hoping to prevent any major damage this early in the fight.

He rebalanced himself and turned to face Zulian. The claws had caught more flesh than he had hoped, he could feel the blood begin to trickle down his neck. He shook his head, his eyes still focused on the cat. He tensed his muscles, waiting for the next attack.

In the moment between moves, his mind thought of Vara. Had they made it to safety?

His strike was a hit. Zulian had drawn his first blood of the conflict. It wasn't a massively damaging strike, nothing the experienced stallion couldn't keep fighting on after, but a hit was a hit. Zulian instinctively drew back once his claws had raked down his opponent but the expected counterattack didn't come. Despite his scratches, the other stallion was waiting for Zulian to make the next move. This was something that Zulian was just fine with.

If he had been in his soquili form, Zulian might have kicked out with his back legs next. A tiger didn't have an equivalent move, so he had to look elsewhere in his repertoire. Growling viciously, he bounded diagonally from the stallion. After one bound, he turned on one paw and pounced at the mutant again. Once more he attacked with his claws, but this time he attacked at the stallion's side. Zulian trusted that he'd be able to use his teeth later in the battle, but for now he would test his opponent's strength with quick attacks.

Utena was holding her own in her fight against Daimhin. The tip of her sword was discolored with his blood. Though the metal grip in her mouth was far from comfortable, she held it firmly. "You don't have to hurt people!" It was hard to talk around the sword but she managed to make herself intelligible. "Just leave us alone!"

Utena was actually holding herself back a little. She had given the gray stallion some minor wounds but nothing serious so far. In all honesty, she didn't want to seriously harm him. It was very rare that Utena had to use her sword in a serious fight and even rarer that she had an opponent stick around after she had scratched them a few times. She doubted she had the stamina to outlast the stallion, which meant that she had to either drive him off or render him incapable of fighting any longer.

She didn't like to think of what she might have to do if he wouldn't quit on his own...
