Black eyes narrowed at Mvushi's words. Was the lion trying to pick a fight with her? She'd clawed siblings for less than that! The black lioness didn't respond for many long moments, as she was trying to force her heart and breathing to slow back down to a normal pace. She was a Midwife, a priestess, and as such she could not go around attacking lions who pissed her off.
No matter what it was they said.
When she finally felt she could control her voice again, Caritas spoke.
"I see nothing that needs to be improved upon at this time. However, I see no reason to lower any of my standards."

Ah, maybe he'd gone too far? But standards! It was laughable. He rose slowly, stretching as he took another long look at her. "One day you'll find... that love has no standards. It's really quite terrible and horrifying. You'll find that... nothing you ever knew previously will matter anymore and you'd give up anything and everything so long as it would keep your partner happy." Here he did not bother restraining his bitterness.
"It'd be best, for your sake, to hold on to those standards for as long as possible." He laughed for a moment, it was soft and equally bitter yet still amused. He bowed his head low. "I think it's time I head for bed, before I get myself into trouble." He mumbled, tail flicking. Clearly he was waiting for her to say it was alright to go, even though he'd just made the whole meeting sort of... awkward and bordering on unpleasant the whole time.

Caritas watched Mvushi, fuming inwardly. And what did he know of love? And really, what did she care? She had no plans to fall in love anytime soon and even if her job was to deal with what naturally came of love, that didn't mean she had to subject herself to it.
It would be a long time before she found any male that was worth it. A very long time.
She watched him standing there, not yet going anywhere. What, was he waiting for her to dismiss him? By the Great Lion, just because he was a slave didn't mean he should act like one. The lioness surged to her feet, sniffed disdainfully, and left.
There. Let him take that how he would, she was so done with this conversation.
