He tried to keep his arms in, to keep his balance -- but Zac managed to roll him all the same, toss him off-balance, less to throw Ever than to halfway trip him. He want down crookedly, awkwardly, with a frustrated sound and a clutch after Zac as he did. And he'd take the younger man down with him for a double-punch of pain: the thwack as he hit the cement floor followed by a rough elbow to the stomach.
He'd cushion Zac's fall. Only one of them actually hit the floor. They could argue about if Zac landing on Ever counted as being brought to the ground once Ever caught his breath again.

They may have landed a tangle, Zac’s fall cushioned to some degree by Ever’s bony body, but Zac wasn’t going to just lay there. He pushed up off Ever and then planted himself squarely on Ever’s chest looking pleased with the arrangement. “So do I get extra points for –keeping- you down?” He said with a grin. It faded after a moment as he registered at least some discomfort in Ever’s face.
“s**t…sorry did I hurt you?”

"Bruises. I've had worse." There was some other teasing comment on the tip of his tongue as he stared up at Zac, perhaps the circumstances in which he'd had worse -- but he held back. Sparring was borderline serious. As much as he'd like to just catch the young man around the waist and let this degrade into something less official...
"...anyway, I brought you down, too. Does that mean I get a point?" He shifted, drawing in a breath deep enough to make Zac shift.

“I bet you have.” He replied with a roll of his eyes before shaking his head vigorously. “I didn’t touch the ground. Nice try though!” He folded his arms and lofted a superior eyebrow before patting Ever on the chest and standing again to take up a ready stance.
“We should really… take classes of some kind. Trial and error is good but hell… a certain blond we both know is better at fighting than me by a LONG shot.”

The sound Ever made was soft, faint -- and vaguely disappointed, for two reasons. The first was that Zac getting up meant he had to get up. And the second was that, well, he liked having Zac there. Liked it more than sparring, that was for certain.
He didn't move, for a moment, just stayed where he was, shifting a little to haul up his knees and rubbing at his eyes. When he did get up, it was with a slow roll that was not as impressive as it had been in his head, that ended in a wobble and a fumble and a little grimace.
Ever wanted a cigarette.
"I think that there are twelve year olds better than us at this, Zac. Well, better than me, anyway..." He swiped at his knees, then settled into his own ready position, uncertain.

“We can stop for now.” He offered watching the edgy roll back to his feet. He ran a hand through his hair. It left dust on his cheek and a streak through the navy blue hair. He exhaled slowly and thought. “Given the chibi senshi, I’m going to say that you’re right.”
“Not only are they fast little shits, even I have some issues punching them.” He drummed his fingers thinking. “We should take a class, probably not the same though.” He shrugged. “I was looking at Judo because I’m short. Anything to give me some advantage, though as you can see I’m not very good at it, it doesn’t work very well learning it out of a book.”
He glanced over the uncertain ready position. “You have reach though, that’s worth something.”

"...hmp." Ever relaxed out of it, shoulders squaring as he straightened, not quite rolling his eyes...but it was a close thing. His mouth did shift, a hint of a smile playing across it as he reached out with one long arm [now that the truce was called] to catch the front of Zac's shirt and pull him in a few steps. It was gentle enough not to be taken as an attack.
They'd managed one sparring session without either of them coming out broken, or even terribly bruised. That was worthwhile. Encouraging that they could, perhaps, do this again. So he smoothed dust from Zac's cheek and stole a quick kiss. "And charm. I think I have charm, too. That helps."
