"Well that's a relief," Zhori said. "Because some of my classes are already annoyingly small. If we start losing students, I won't have anyone to teach at all. And music is definitely something everyone needs to learn. Well, unless they're really really bad at it and even then it's fun to help them learn to not be completely horrible."
She licked a bit of sauce from the corner of her mouth. "Oh right, I hadn't thought about that. You can tell when people are afraid so even if I was pretending, it wouldn't matter. That's actually really convenient."
"Not that turning into fire isn't convenient at times too...and the fact that I produce a lot of body heat. Always useful during the winter."

Oh, that's just me?" ~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~v~ Simon never had any experience with music whatsoever. He wondered how he would be if he tried to learn to play an instrument, and figured he would be awful. "What you can do is impressive. Even though I only caught a glimpse, it was amazing when you were fighting that ugly monster. You're lucky the only thing you have to worry about is burning up your clothes. I can't do much at all, and what I can do isn't worth the cost. I have to scare people constantly just to live..." He complained as he set down his plate on the bed. Just thinking about it ruined his appetite. Sure, he enjoyed scaring people, but he couldn't even take a break. "Yeaah, that's kind of as impressive as breathing," Zhori said. "I mean, every fire elemental can do it. It's really not all that great. Well, I mean it is--I like fire. But it's not that amazing. Fun, yes. Amazing, no." She sighed as he set his plate aside, seeming upset about his having to scare people to live. Awwwww.
"Hey, you were great out there during that fight, really. I was impressed and actually really upset that you were hurt. That's kind of why I jumped in, you know, being worried about you and all." She set her plate aside, eyed his bed and decided that no, she was not going to try to sit on it. She knew the trick but eh, getting on and off was the tricky part. Instead, she reached up and just casually pulled him off so she could give him a hug.
"I think you're a pretty amazing man, you know?"

No, wait, I did that last week," Simon told her jokingly. "All I did was nearly get eaten. Especially when that stupid fairy shoved me farther in... I still need to crush that bu-- w-what are you doing?" He allowed himself to be pulled off the bed and blushed when she gave him a hug. He would die if someone came into the dorm now. "Well, you can just accept the bloody compliment, or you can just assume I have very eccentric taste in those of the male persuasion," Zhori said. If she had known Nightmares were this entertaining, she would have found herself one years ago. But then, she had a feeling Simon was a little special because his father had tried to raise him normally. She suspected most Nightmares weren't cook, and didn't blush when you hugged them.
"And hey, maybe I can help you scare some students sometime. Sounds fun. And...nutritious."

He was very rarely complimented face-to-face, so it made him a bit self-conscious. If he just accepted it, he would feel vain. "That sounds like fun. We should put fish guts above the door... But that may be a bad idea, because I don't want to torment a student who comes to class early... Hm." He started thinking of several ways he could torture his students, but when he couldn't think of anything that he hadn't done before, he sighed. "We should stage an explosion!" Zhori said. "And make it look like you catch on fire. It's perfect, since you're in the cooking class. And I can handle the special effects because you know, I can control the heat of my flames so I could definitely make it look like you were on fire without actually hurting you."
"Oh, the problem with that is that we'd have to be really careful to cut off the water supply in your class because if I get doused, that would be really bad. I'm sure we could work out all the petty details but that would be so much fun, don't you think? And I think seeing a teacher run around on fire would be scary without actually hurting anyone--also a plus."
((She wanted to make a really bad joke about him having to be inside her but I didn't let her. emotion_donotwant ))

"It wouldn't be a real explosion," Zhori said. "It would just be me making it look like an explosion. And if you don't want to be completely engulfed in flames, we could only make it look like your arm? Then you could run out of the class or something. C'mon, doesn't it sound fun?" She gave him her very best attempt at sad puppy eyes--which probably didn't work out so well for her considering what her eyes were like. She had a feeling some of the emotion was lost in translation.
She had a feeling Simon didn't think fire and explosions were as fun as she thought they were. Zhori snuggled closer to him. "Please?"

Simon sighed, knowing that even if they did attempt it, he would end up ruining it. Seriously, if he caught on fire for real, he was sure he wouldn't be stupid enough to run around and feed the flames. It's common sense to stop, drop, and roll. Or shove a fire elemental off. Whichever applies. It was hard to say no to her though. He blushed when she snuggled closer, but refused to fall for it. "Why can't we actually blow the students up instead? "Well, no," Zhori said. "But you also don't seem like the type to completely lose the ability to form coherent sentences just because a woman puts her foot on your knee." She placed her hand on his knee and smiled at him innocently. "Besides, we can't blow up the students. You need to be able to frighten people every day. So logically you need the students alive, so you can continually frighten them. If we blow them up and they die, then you won't be able to use them anymore right?"
"So logically, we need to think of a way to frighten them without hurting them."

Her hand on his knee only didn't bother him because she wasn't sliding it up like she did with her foot. "If I have to keep them alive, then I can always lock them up in a basement and hang them by their arms backwards until their shoulders dislocate and the skin tears," He offered up an idea, completely serious about it. He saw it on a documentary about torture once and thought it was a wonderful idea. "You could," Zhori said, casually moving her hand about two inches up his leg. "But think about this. First of all, some of the students are quite nice. And while, admittedly, there are a few I wouldn't mind tossing in a pit of alligators, it would be a shame to torture the really nice ones. And ones I dislike, someone else might like. So it's really difficult to determine which ones are okay to torture."
"Also, if you did that, you'd eventually be caught. Then you'd be fired. And the school would be shut down. So you'd still lose your source of sustenance. So, you still need to find a way to frighten them on a daily basis without harming them, to fully ensure your position is secure. Also, it would be best if it seemed--at least sometimes--that you weren't doing it intentionally. Because if you make a habit of doing things to upset the students, you might still lose your job."
"You have to be sneaky about this! I'd be really sad if you were fired. You're the most interesting person I've met in ages."

"The nice students don't really matter to me. It's been a long time since I actually liked anyone, so they're the same as the brats to me..." "And it wouldn't be that bad if I were caught. If I were fired, there would still be plenty of ways I could get the fear I need. This job is basically just a thing to do on the side. I could always go back to my restaurant if I wanted to." "And I'm not interesting. I'm just your average Nightmare. Or, rather, a really weak one. Honestly, I should be tormenting you right now... But I don't want to. I mean, really...lived through the witch trials and all that. Believe me, that was fun. And rather humorous when they tried to burn me at the stake. Heh. Anyway you..."
She trailed off. Now he was being all morose. She sighed. "Well, I mean, I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this but you really have left me no choice."
And with that, she tackled him to the ground and snogged him.
((well...I guess that's kind of an autohit. He can push her away or whatever if you want. XD ))
