"That's the spirit. He already seems to like you enough," Shadow agreed, watching Laerdan eat, not noticing Selene look over at him. Once they were done with the condiments, he put them away back into the fridge and cupboards.
"Yeah, sure!" he replied to her question. "We get the job done efficiently and quickly. That's usually the goal, right?" When she smiled at him, the teen returned it sheepishly. "Hehe...thanks, Selene. Laerdan," he added, surprised when the steel-type rammed into his foot. "Whoa...you really are enthusiastic, aren't you?" Shadow shrugged. "I don't know, though...maybe I'm better off without one. I couldn't imagine trying to take care of a pokemon. I can hardly take care of myself." He reached down to pet Laerdan some more. "Still...I guess it wouldn't hurt."
Taking their dishes once they were done, he put them in the sink and began to wash them. "So...what do you and Laerdan have to do today? I've got some time off now, but I don't know if you have a busy schedule. Were you trying to go somewhere when I found you guys?"

"Hmmm... You are right. Though I doubt I'd be useful elsewhere." She chuckled, she knew she wasn't giving herself much credit, but she was fine with that, she was new and she had no idea what was her niche.
Selene frowned a bit. "Better off without one? Nonsense!" Her eyes narrowed a bit, but still had a softness to them, as her fathers were when her was firm, but wanting to show he cared at the same time. "That's the point of having a Pokemon! Caring for each other... You take care of them, and in time, they will take care of you." As Selene was lecturing the Grunt, Laerdan leaned against his foot, looking up at him with his big blue as, as if to say, 'Hey! I care too.'
After her little speech she had to stop and think. "We have nothing to do really, We were just looking around... Just looking for places to know, and thanks to you we found one."

"You'd be surprised," the teen offered seriously. "A pokemon's bond with their trainer seems to go a long way from what I've seen. Better that than a pokemon who doesn't even like you enough to listen to you, right? I've heard some pokemon have attacks that are more powerful the more they love their trainers. And that some pokemon even evolve if they love their trainers enough." Not that he knew all that much about what attacks or which pokemon they were. He was still just learning about them all.
At Selene's reaction, Shadow blinked, a little taken-aback. "Well...that's easy to say, but I'm not sure I trust myself to actually do it, he admitted guiltily. "Sure, they can protect us, but if we don't have the funds to feed them and stuff, what good is that? I wouldn't want to let them down like that." He smiled at Laerdan and the look the Aron was giving him. "I'm not a very reliable guy."
Perking up after Selene mentioned not having much to do, Shawn took the opportunity to change the subject. "Hey, do you like swimming? Or exercising? We have a great wrokout facility, not to mention a pool. Or we could always just chill in the rec room. They have board games, movies, vending machines, and a TV in there."

Selene frowned again. "I think you just need to give yourself some credit. If you really want a Pokemon I will help you... I'm not the best trainer but I know things." She offered another warm smile, she felt she was a little tough... but she couldn't help it.
"Swimming... I haven't swam in a long time." She blushed slightly. "I don't have a bathing suite." She wouldn't mind swimming in shorts and a tank top or bra. "If there isn't a spare around then you can pick what we do." She nodded. She didn't care.
