Baihu smiled at his bride to be. "Well you could do more of a lolita wa style." He suggested about the kimono and lace. "Just remember as my wife you become the second leader of the tiger clan. That means I'm the only one who can say no to you." The man told her. It gave her some power at least. "Don't worry too much about the kids, remember that they are all grown. As for being a good wife, all you need is to be a cute one."

Vera listened, her serious expression turning into a slightly embarrassed one. "I guess I took the "duties" section of etiquette too seriously..." she tried to poke a joke at herself. "Sit still and look pretty, huh? Somehow, I never imagined I would end up being the ornament...I guess it's from expecting resistance to anything I would do. So I'm of the mindset I need to work to earn my place. Although as it's a bet, I suppose it's just like, 'okay we're married but we just act like we're friends because it was all for a laugh, ha ha at least we don't hate each other' hmm?" Shaking her head at her thoughts, Vera looked slightly depressed again but it quickly faded as she nodded, acknowledging his words. "Not so sure what a 'wa' is, but okay... I guess we could also shop and look..." Unusual for a girl, she seemed uncertain about the shopping, and made a face. "Malls...so many people..." Shaking her head, she turned to take a look behind Baihu. "So, onto a different subject...whatcha fixin'?" she asked with a happy-sounding voice.

said it's a qi lolita instead of wa lolita, using Chinese accessories instead of Japanese; thinking that with a really big/long skirt in the same style would be nice, and still kinda look western

It seemed that nothing Ozora said was coming out right with her, but at the same time it didn't seem to matter. She didn't get upset by it. "I'm making rice and sausage, but this is the good kind so it takes a while to cook." He told her as he used a hand to flip them over. "I'm going to summon my children while we wait. "Oh children." There were several puffs before six people came into the room. It was clear who was who in the family by clothing and by the aura they gave off. Ozora let go of Vera and looked at his child. "I would like you to meet your new mother." The man said. The children let out a bow. "This is Chen." He pointed at the oldest. He didn't look much like Ozora. He looked more like his mother with orange hair coming from his head instead of white. "Fu." He came to his oldest daughter. She was a beauty. "Young." Young looked the closest to what his father probably really looked like in human frown over what he was wearing now. "Xuan. Mai." Mai was the one that was part nymph, but she looked more cute then heavenly. "Jun." Jun probably trumped them all in looks. "Please question them as you see fit."
PostPosted: Tue Jan 10, 2012 10:47 pm

Vera smiled softly as Baihu called his children, again hearing the sound. She noticed there was almost a new ring to it, and decided she got a sort of "echo" through the blood she shared. Looking at them all, she felt very small and grubby in her slept-in clothes, as well as definitely second best. Bowing slightly in return, with two fingers held to her forehead in a dragon-based salute to equals or inferiors, Vera looked at them all and hid her uncertainty with a small polite smile. "I haven't really thought about questions, although..."

"What are your favorite colors, flavors, times of year and season? How would you describe yourself, and how would you describe your siblings? What food would you be, of your own culture and of any others, and what drink? What stone would you credit yourself to be most like, mystical and astral properties as well as physical and supposedly medicinal? Do you like it here, do you like to travel or stay at home...?" she shot off, taking some time for their answers with a politely curious look, silver eyes ringed with blue not showing any of the discomfort she felt. "What would you do in my situation, and how would you plan things?" Vera thought of this after a moment, and her look turned pensive as she got idea how to use them all in the wedding, but she didn't want to lord over them too much, or make them uncomfortable. "What do you think your father needs most, considering this is an arranged marriage...?" Now she was getting personal, and her eyes actually gleamed just a tiny bit as Vera figured this was a good way to get an insight into each child's personality...as well as their father's through their eyes.

The siblings went in order starting with Chen. "Orange, cherry, summer, structured, My siblings in order would be traditional, scholarly, loner, ditzy, the cat piper." Chen sounded so formal with his speaking manner. But he pictured up right off. "Orange, black tea, topaz, I prefer my home, but where father calls us that is where I am." Chen answered.
Fu went next. "Light blue, spring, azuki beans, traditional, Smart, scholarly, thoughtful, cute, and lazy." It was easy to tell the siblings weren't above taking jabs at each other and point out faults. "Steam bun, black tea, rose quartz, and I prefer the water." The woman answered.
Young was next. "Please to meet you mother." He told her before starting his questions. He was probably the nicest so far. "I like silver shades and the season of autumn. Flavor would have to be bread. I would probably describe myself as a scholar like my siblings said." The man made a small blush at his siblings words. "Chen is scholarly as well and he's traditional and likes order. Fu is traditional, womanly, and graceful. Xuan is the quiet one, he's pretty smart once he opens up. Mai is very much our ditzy little sister. Maybe because you're younger you'll like her more. Then there is Jun. Cats seem to come to him like he was their friend." Young answered. "I would think myself like a fish working hard just to live. My favorite drink is water, stone would have to be sapphire, and I very much like libraries."
Xuan was the next sibling. He looked at the new with in a quit tone before taking in a couple of breaths of air. "Purple." He answered. His father let out a chuckle. "That's fine Xuan." He told his son. The tiger stepped back in respect.
Mai stepped for ward next. "Hi I'm Mai. Lets see. I like pink and light colors, my favorite flavor is cherry, I like spring, and I guess that I'm bubbly. Chen is mister up tight and if Fu could marry him she would be Mrs Uptight. Young is always in the library. I don't think he knows how to stop reading without father. Xuan doesn't talk much so please forgive him and Jun is laidback." Mai was more like a normal teenager. "I like bubble tea for my drinks and pair it with noodles. My stone of choice would be a pearl, and my favorite place to be is at the mall. I'm lucky daddy is loaded."
Jun was the last one to come forward. "Hey. I guess I like light colors too. I think white is the best, but I like green. I think hands down you can never go wrong with cherry in this family. I prefer fall for a season and unlike what my siblings say I'm more thoughtful. Chen is a great older brother, Fu sometimes needs to watch her tongue, Young is really book smart and if I have questions I ask him. Xuan is quiet and Mai is Mai." He answered about his siblings. "If I was a food I guess I'd be a cow. They're so relaxed. For a drink It would be probably apple juice, the stone I would have to say a Lapis Lazuli and when I'm not at home I like to hang out in a grassy field and look up at the clouds."

Just nodding as she listened, Vera couldn't help but smile a little at the shy Xuan, and at the exuberance of Mia's attitude and answer. Tilting her head to the side at the thought of everyone liking cherry, as well as the strictly formal answers from the elder two and then getting warmer personalities, the half-elf figured it was all from the times they were born and raised. She noticed no one else shared an interest in winter with their father, and mentally moved the wedding closer a few months, and was thinking at the altitude it wouldn't matter as it snowed pretty far where her adopted family lived. Smiling a little, Vera nodded at Young. "I'm a lot younger than all of you, so if you don't want to call me mother, I can understand..." she directed to them all. Eyes serious, she looked from face to face, to people in any other circumstance she would have seen best to obey and be submissive to, and here she was being called "mother"? Giving a wry smile to Baihu, she could only guess at what a joke her father...her REAL father Azure...was laughing at with this arrangement.

"I have no real intention on ruling over you or such nonsense, though I would hop you can eventually view me as an equal, if not an actual peer you could speak with. Similar to a friend, though I am aware age and personality wise you all are pretty much above me. I wouldn't mind hearing your opinions on how the wedding should go, if you wish to have a hand in the matter..." Tone calm and diplomatic, Vera seemed to be wasting no emotion as she spoke, though Baihu would know the half-elf well enough by now to tell she was having a few doubts regarding herself. "Basically, I would hope I could be treated as a sister, instead of a mother, if nothing else because trying to put me in that place when you all have years and many more years on my is just ludicrous... So while we may not interact a lot, due to your preferences and lifestyles, as well as ages, I would still hope that we can get along... Although I am sure you would have expected some drivel along those lines from anyone trying to 'play nice' I honestly do mean it, and intend to do what I can to stay in peace with my husband-to-be's family. Now, any questions for me...?"

Fu turned to her older brother and started to mumble somethings. It was clear because of their age they would be going first again. Once they were turn they turned to the younger girl. "We will not call you beyond your formal name and we will not recognize the marriage until you give birth to a sibling." Fu told Vera. Young smiled and scratched hi head. It was clear that they were very traditional and from back when a child could make or break a deal. Young looked at the woman. "I agree that I wouldn't be able to call you beyond a formal title, but I can help with the wedding as needed." He told her. Xuan stayed quiet as Mai began to talk. "I'll call you buy your first name. We can even plan the wedding as a team and go shopping for the best wedding dress in the world." She answered. Jun smile. "I'll say your name too, but it may be in a more formal tone. Just a little more respectful. Please use me where it is needed."

Vera's face didn't change its polite expression as she ran a hand through her hair, stopping to scratch at the back of her head before dropping her arm to lean against the counter. She wasn't too surprised at the older siblings' decision, but she still felt the impulse to roll her eyes. Fighting it by looking at the others, Vera nodded slowly. "Thank you. At least now I know where I stand with you... And I don't do malls much, so your help would be appreciate Mai..." She turned to the older siblings and linked her hands in a calm pose behind her back with no real expression to her face. "Would you prefer I called you something more formal than what you had given me, in that case? Like I said, I don't intend to alienate anyone..." Shrugging a single slim shoulder Vera looked at the others. "Same goes to you...if you have a name you would rather go by, please let me know." Voice calm, Vera just waited for the answers to this newest question as she nodded at Xuan, Young Mia and Jun in recognition of what they said even if Xuan didn't speak. Which... "Don't worry about answering if you don't want to, Xuan. If what I have seen so far and heard are true, then odds are we won't talk as much, which is okay. As long as you don't go too far out of your way to treat me as you feel you should that's fine. And purple is a very lovely color, in and of its own royal right." Closing her eyes she leaned back again, chewing her lip absently in thought as she crossed her arms before glancing at Baihu. "They don't have to stay any longer than they wish, I am pretty much done with what I had wanted to ask. If some of you want to stay, that's up to you of course," the half-elf directed at them, so Vera wouldn't be talking about them while they were present, excluding them.

With a puff they were all gone like a bat out of hell. They didn't really care to see if their father wanted something. They were like teenagers in that way. Baihu smiled and chuckle. "Their names will do." He told his bride. He turned a bit and started to serve the rice and sausage. He then served up two cups of orange juice and set the meal down on the table. "Lets eat breakfast. So what do you think of them?" He asked wondering what she was thinking. He was sure that she found the oldest two as traditional.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 13, 2012 5:09 pm

"Hmph, so much for friendly overtures..." Vera muttered to herself, turning her head to look at Baihu with slightly raised eyebrows before the half-elf turned to regard the floor...and her bare feet. Blinking, Vera worked on her impressions and putting her thoughts in order as she sat down to eat with him, smiling at the orange juice. "They're....hm. They seem reluctant to accept me, and I am sure while Mai is excited to do 'girl time' or whatever she didn't stay around long, and same for Young and Jun since they offered me their assistance. Or felt compelled to. I just don't know how soon I would be able to have a kid." Frowning into her glass, Vera's free hand was tapping her fingers on the table as she thought aloud. "I mean, dragons have a longer gestation time and there's temperature and humidity to consider, like any reptile. But I don't know what it would be like for an elf, though my biological clock matched up with the dragons. So at best it would be like ten years before I could have a kid, or at the absolute minimum three..." Sighing, Vera turned her attention to the rice and sausage, and concentrated on that for a while. "I don't think any of them are really willing to accept me though, even though Mai seemed excited..."

Baihu had started to eat his food while she talked about the kids. Nothing about them surprised him any more. He started to drink down his orange juice when his bride started to talk about a baby. He started to cough it up. "Why are you worrying about that. You don't need to have a kid to make me happy." He told her. He wasn't even sure if he wanted one or liked Vera enough to be take her. Not that the girl wasn't going on him. "I'm sure the kids needed to get stuff done. I don't know what I called them from. They could have been in the middle of something." He told her. He wasn't too upset by their quick disappearance. "Anyways most Hybrids are a real mix. Chen can become a tiger, but he doesn't work with wind as well as he does fire. If I remember correctly the Vice Principals daughter is half elf. She's able to have a child in the same amount of time for a normal human, but her child will end up being only a quarter human and the rest elf. I think her husband is full elf."
PostPosted: Fri Jan 13, 2012 5:45 pm

Vera shrugged. "I don't know... I guess it's because I hated not knowing what I was, and was always worried I wouldn't be accepted as an unknown, and even as a known entity. Kinda stupid, I suppose...although I bet it would make them...no, never mind, it wouldn't..." Staring at her food, the half-elf just stayed silent as she finished her meal, draining the juice before standing to go into the kitchen and do her dishes. Staring at the water, Vera swirled her finger in the soapy fluid and smiled a little as she watched the small vortexes form and rise above the water to dance a little bit. Vera didn't know why she felt so moody about the whole thing, and frowned at the vortexes in thought. Idly forming the water to resemble water lilies floating with soapy petals and foam on top, Vera sorted out her reactions. It was probably a bit of the leftover remnants of her memories, and her frown deepened as she thought about the cave and the way she had been treated. Closing her eyes, Vera leaned against the lower sink and chewed on her lip; she knew she was Azure's daughter now, and she was betrothed to Ozora...Baihu. He was a being along the same lines of her father, while she was only half. Ah, that was part of it; she felt belittled or like an insult to her husband-to-be since she was an inferior race, with inferior powers. And she had enough dragon in her to be proud, and hate that feeling. Not to mention, no matter what he said, she wasn't so sure Baihu really had any emotions for her, though they could come with time and effort; but she liked and respected him enough to not want to put Baihu through that if he didn't want to. But on the other hand... "Literally on the other hand..." Vera breathed to herself, looking down at the ring he had given her as she was playing with it on her finger, the pendent glittering in the sun where it had come out of her clothes. "Hmm..."

"Being half-breeds doesn't bother me at all. My children are half, well I guess Chen isn't really, I don't love them any less. It's becoming more and more common for children to be of mix race. If I remember all the the vice principal's children are half, and his nieces and nephew. He can't stop talking about his wife's belly in staff meetings. She going to give birth soon. It's kind of funny. I guess I was the same way with my children. Let's have children when we're ready. I don't want to rush anything." Baihu told her. It didn't seem like anything he did was right. She also ways seemed down and his words didn't cheer her up.

(when'd i have her say that aloud...? hey, no looking into her head!! DX lol)

"Henh, when'd I say that...?" Vera muttered to herself, blinking before turning to look at Baihu, her face calm and her eyes thoughtful. "That's not it...it's. I guess I am just trying to understand both sides of things, and it's driving me nuts. I...I don't feel like you like the whole arrangement, and I don't like feeling I'm just some consolation prize. I think that's what's bugging me the most, is that I don't know how my real father views me, as a child or a tool. Even with the dragons there was politics going on, and I was considered a pawn and not worth considering anything close to equal dragons my developmental age. I guess I am just tired of being shunted to the side, and while I was raised to expect marriage for politics or something, I guess there's enough romantic inside me to want the pony and the prince, or whatever. I don't know...and that's also the thing, I just don't KNOW where I'm at in this whole situation, what I'm considered, or how to act... I DON'T KNOW and it bothers me..." Vera commented, her voice slowing down as she stared at the floor, short nails digging into her skin as the half-elf made a fist with the hand resting on the sink. "Gah... This is pathetic, I'm sorry..." she commented, shaking her head as she ran a hand through her hair. Turning to look at Baihu with a smile Vera didn't completely feel, the half-elf shrugged. "So...what to do this fine Saturday morning? My roomie wants to talk to you, meet you and all that...but it's up to you where and when, since I am sure she will find one way or another to pin you down or something..." Vera commented fairly cheerfully, her smile more natural as she thought about the energetic Aurora trying to dress down Baihu, shaking her head at the images the half-elf's imagination came up with.

Baihu stood with his finished plate and walked over to the sink. He made sure to give Vera a good look eye to eye so that she knew that she and he was there. "I was told once that my emotions were wrong by your father. I had always questioned everything because I had nothing more then my curious nature. I don't see emotions as wrong." He told her. He wanted her to speak her mind and have a say in what happened. Marriage was about finding a middle ground and not a fight. That was what was wrong with most young people these days. "I think your father highly prizes you. He just hates me. He wanted for me to marry a daughter who could stand up to me and annoy me, but one thing he didn't count on was me saying with pride that I would take her as my wife. I don't believe in love at first sight. That's only lust. I don't want to lust for a woman I want to feed her heart, soul, and mind, but that takes time." He told her. Baihu saw the half elf as his equal. Maybe not in status, but as a being they were equals. "I lost the bet, I'll marry and prize my wife." He told her. "I'd love to met your roommate. I think it's important to have friends."
