Alice couldn't help but see the lingering sadness? or something in his eyes.... she wanted to wash it away somehow. Which was why she found herself talking, "You will like Maion. He is...." She smiled, not really sure what word to use to describe the old Angeni stallion that had saved her and Jasper and Renesme from running. "Amazing." She finally said, falling behind so she could walk beside her father, she let herself bump into him every now and then, a soft bump of reassurance that he was still there. "He reminds me of you at times.... so determined to protect everyone. Giving... loving...." Those words were spoken for Carlisle, he was the most generous stallion she knew, and nothing had ever changed that. "I think you will like him.... he protected us all when we came here, and his...." She screwed up her face trying to recall what Rune was to him but she wasn't really sure. "Brother-in-law.... or nephew... or something.... is who stole Renesme's heart." She grinned, remembering how they had both fell pregnant at the same time.

He quirked a brow at that, not having expected the name of Renesme's mate, but then hearts changed, especially as you grew older. He miled and nipped Alices mane. "I'm just glad that you all found somewhere safe to be. A place that welcomed you. I'm glad." He was too, he was not the kind of stallion to be bitter that they had had something he hadn't. He was geninely pleased for them all. Though did he have a place here too, he didn't know but time would tell.

She smiled at him. "Yeah... Rune is ...." She screwed up her face, "Strange." She liked Rune but he was a little forward at times, and she suspected that was why Paris was the way he was, but each unto their own. Renesme had met Rune when she was a child, fresh from running away and he had been kind and sweet to her... she chuckled. "What have you been doing all these years....?" She had missed him, and as she thought about everything that had changed for her and her little family she wandered what had happened for him.

Carlisle had to smile at that, but choices were choice and as long as everyone was happy thats what counted. Not looking at Alice when she asked after him. "Nothing anywhere close to as interesting..." Pretty sure that she didn't want to know about the time he spent healing, or how he had had to move about, leading the others on a merry goose chase. Apart from the odd passer through untill recently when he had met a few potential friends and taken on a student he had been very much alone. No he was very sure she wouldn't want to know that. "I have a young student now... he seems very eager to learn."

Alice's eyes popped; "A student?" She chirped at him, wondering if he had sought one out or if they had sought him.... Alice could tell he wasn't telling her everything but she wasn't about to ask or press for more information. "What is your student like?" She asked with a smile. Wondering how things had changed for her father, and wanting to take it all back.... in a whisper she said; "I wish I had seen... I wish...." She closed her eyes, the pain of the memories flooding her. She wished she could have saved her family.....

Carlisle stopped and looked at her, 2 of his big wings stretching to pull her close, nuzzling her softly. "Shhh your not God Alice, none of us ever expected you to see and know every possible little thing... Don't beat yourself over things that are beyond any of our control. Be happy that not everything was lost." Keeping her close as he moves onto her question. "Chris is.... young, smart and determind, I could not have done better in a student if I had looked for one." Smiling at the thought of the energetic flutter foal, he was fond of his student, the times with him were like having a family again for that brief time.

Alice nodded and tried her best to push the thought aside, she really did wish that she could have done more.... but she knew Carlisle was right, pushing her tears away she closed her eyes and focused on the new infomration she had given. "Wow... he sounds..... nice." She said softly, she was happy that Carlise had found someone but.... "Do you...." She couldn't bring herself to ask if he had found someone so she instead asked, "...prefect your medicines?"

He looked at her as she paused, smiling, not feeling the need to agree that Chris was nice, he was nice and Carlisle was fond and proud of his student. Nodding. "Yes, a medicine always needs perfecting, while it can work generally one everyone quite well, its always better to make a medicine tailored to a specific individual. it will work much better then." Wondering what she had meant ot ask.

"Yeah..." That made her think of Chandra, "There is a mare in the herd, who helped me a lot during my pregnancy... I think she would like to meet you and your medicines." She said with a smile as she looked over at him, a soft blush covering her cheeks. "If..... if I asked you to stay with us.... would you?" She didn't want to interfer with his life, she didn't know everything after all... did he had a family of his own now? A true family....? No matter what she would always consider him her father, and would accept any children he had or would have in the future.... and she found she wanted that, wanted him to be happy and settled. Especially since he made such a great father.

Carlisle smiled at her softly havign a sense that Alice was fishing for something that she didn't want to ask outright. "Oh you don't want an old man like me taking up room, you have Jasper and Renesme, and your own children now as well as Renesme's foals. A huge family has appeared for you Alice. But if that is really what you wanted I would stay a while, I wouldn't have moved on till my student was finished learning anyway." He made no mention of a mate or children of his own, he made no mention of anyone being with him at all, if the omissions were noted his life sounded rather lonely, and yet he didn't want to impose on his adopted children, the closest thing to a family he had.

Alice looked up at him again, feeling very much like the young foal he had once taken under his wing and nurtured back to heal, fixing the imperfections that had been left by a tormented past. Sometimes she still had dreams of being trapped in that tower..... screaming..... crying.... no one ever helped her, not until Jasper and Carlisle. She would forever be thankful to them both.
Still, she hoped more than anything else that he would one day find someone to heal the broken pieces within him. She could try but knew that she wouldn't be able to see them all.... only a mate could do that. Though he hadn't said he didn't have a family waiting somewhere for him she took his silence on it to mean that. "Your student is very lucky." A small part of her was almost sadned by his words... he would linger for his student.... and while he lingered he would stay.... but he wouldn't stay for her? She supposed she was simply being silly, the foal that looked up to him remembering everything so clearly that she still felt that way when before him. Strange.
Deciding to simply enjoy him while he was here she chirped happily, "They will love you... all of them." She chuckled, unable to hide the happiness she felt when she considered her 'family'. It consisted of much more than her blood kin; but then Carlisle wasn't officially 'blood' so that didn't surprise her... no, it consisted of an entire herd! A rainbow of creatures.

He gace her a long nuzzle and sighed, having gotten too used to moving on, of having no one. He had never thought to see his family again. He had bought them time to escape, as their father, biological or not it was all he could do for his children. Looking at her something occured to him. "Could it be that you want your father around even now?" Touched and amused by the idea that Alice who he had helped raise might want her daddy with her still, even now when she was a mother and had been without him just fine for so long.

She paused, a blush covered her cheeks. The mare that was usually so full of love, excitment and fun was actually stumped by his question. But it was true.... she has missed Carlisle, believed him dead.... "Is that so bad?" She finally asked, a sweet smile upon her lips and she turned her head to look at him.

He laughed softly and held her close, pressing his nose into her neck. "I missed you all Alice... I prayed every night that you had all found safty and were happy." Taking a steadying breath his golden eyes bright as he smiled at her. "For you... IF I am welcome and IF no one is upset by my being here... For you I will stay... I've missed my family" He had, he had wandered far and wide but so often alone... before and after his family he had been alone. All because he was slightly different, its was only those that got to know him that saw his inherant compasisonate nature.

Alice pressed herself into his warm. He smelt like.... rainfall and spring flowers. She missed the scent. Words couldn't describe how happy she was. In her heart she knew of no one who would mind Carlisle staying with them, even if never joined the herd officially.... but she also knew that if he wanted to wander, and when that day arrived, she would do nothing to stop him. No. That would be too selfish. She would wish him well, miss him like crazy and pray to the Moon that he would forever travel in safety.
