It wasn't long before Billy arrived in California with Zatanna in his arms, having saved her from Black Adam and Thaddeus Sivana, two of Billy's arch-nemeses. On the far side of the city of San Diego, Billy slowed down and gently, very gently, let Zee down on the ground.
"Darnit... I shouldn't have left. If I'd have known Sivana and Black Adam were around, you wouldn't have gotten in that predicament," Billy said, though he was chastising himself with his harsh tone, not Zee.

She didn't say anything immediately, just stood there and rubbed her wrists, expression more tired than anything else. "There's no way you could have known," she said finally, her voice very quiet. She was suddenly reminded of Bruce. 'I should have known the Joker/Two Face/Poison Ivy/Penguin would...'

Billy sighed. "Maybe..." he said. "I... I'm just glad you're alright. Black Adam is... well, one of my most dangerous adversaries. He matches me in every area when it comes to my powers, so I have to outsmart him like I did back there. He didn't hurt you too badly, did he?"

Zatanna gingerly rolled one wrist and winced. "I don't think so. Maybe a sprain." She regarded him for a long moment, then sighed. "Look, I'm sorry Billy, but I really want to go home and call it a night. We can look for the helmet later, okay?"

Surprisingly enough, Billy didn't look hurt or try to object, he just gave her a nod. "I understand," he said calmly. "Go back home. When you feel up to it, just call me on the JLA comm I've got and I'll come see you again. Or... if you need my help..."

From down the hall of the SDPD headquarters, an additional and irritated voice added to the usual noise a city police station would usually expect. The door opened into Nat's room as a slightly bewildered officer and a well-dressed man entered in. The suited man continued his rant, even after they had entered the room.
"-and you want to add to the problem?! By taking her into the station in cuffs and interrogating her?!"

Both detectives stood up in surprise, and Kinkaid asked, "Hey, who is this!? And what's he doing in here!?""

The man turned and his full attention was placed into answering the questions asked of him. Pulling out his credentials to show the detectives seemed a mere afterthought, a second nature.
"Tyler Finn, representative of the administration in charge of Project Genesis. Maybe you've heard of it. I'm here to talk with Ms. Carter about an oppertunity which may prove helpful."
With his last word, he again looked increduously around at the three other men in the room.

((Erm...maybe have quotes for now?)) Nat echoed the new comer's bewildered look. "Project what?" she echoed. WIth the dazed state she was in Nathalia could barely process the new guy's tie color, much less the fact that he was talking about her.

Zatanna nodded, managing a tense but genuine smile. "I'll call. Thank you, Captain." She felt like she ought to kiss him on the cheek, or hug him, or something, to acknowledge the support if nothing else, but was somehow certain that he'd only get more confused. Instead, she just waved. "See you later." Then she closed her eyes. "Em tropelet." In a shower of silver and gold sparks, she vanished.

Billy sighed, and frowned, looking down at the ground and folding his arms. Now what would he do? He didn't know.
e lifted up into the air, and flew away. Where he was going to go, he had no idea, because at the moment all he could think about was Zatanna.

Det. Kinkaid arched an eyebrow at the display folding his arms looking directly at Mr. Finn, "I'm not sure what 'Project Genesis' is, but what does that have to do with a murder investigation?"
