 Kamil Terrace ________________________Kamil blinked and then he realized that it was natural that surface dwellers would be surprised that he was a merman. He had legs! Of course! So all the jeering and the laughter must have been because they didn't believe he was a merman. Kamil grinned. "i got permission from the King of the Sea to let me go up here to study. My parents are pretty close to him, so they were able to appeal to him for me. He just zapped me with his trident and I was a set fish."
Kamil hesitated but he took her hand, guessing it was some kind of surface dwelling gesture. "I guess this approach makes sense. You surface dwellers don't have tails to slap against each other when you meet." Kamil laughed.

"Yeah," Angela said, giving Kamil's hand a firm shake before releasing it. "Actually I fear that 'tail-slapping' on the surface is probably not the same thing as it is underwater." Because honestly 'tail slapping' just sounded a bit perverted. Probably not so much when the people doing it actually had proper tails but when they didn't...yes. And that was a rather uncomfortable thought right there, with disturbing mental images. Lovely. She was lucky merfolk weren't psychic.
She stood there awkwardly for a moment, unsure what she should do next.
"So, I heard there was a good cafe nearby," Angela offered quickly, not sure what else she should say. The silence was just sort of unbearably awkward. "I was planning to stop on the way back to the school and see what sort of tea they have there. Would you like to come with me? You said you'd like to sample some more 'surface food' so perhaps I can treat you to a snack?"
Hopefully he didn't get the wrong idea. She wasn't trying to pull anything on him but maybe they could just consider it repayment for her having embarrassed him over the 'fishstick' thing.

Kamil Terrace ________________________Kamil didn't seem to notice her awkwardness. He perked up at the sound of cafe though since he knew that meant there was food involved. "I guess you're right. I believe tail slapping for you surface dwellers might be equivalent to a kick and that's rude, right?" Kamil laughed, "And the cafe sounds good to me! I wonder what new dish I'll get to eat this time."
Kamil was bursting with enthusiasum. There were many delicious dishes in the surface world. Kamil was pleased with everything he hate. He didn't find any of the surface world's fishes any good though. He preferred the way they were prepared back at his home so he never touched those.

Angela.Tremaine "Well that actually isn't exactly what I was thinking," Angela muttered. "But yes, let's go with that." She was lucky that he was either dense, or just naive. Or both. Maybe they didn't have euphemisms down in merfolk land. "So anyway, I believe the cafe is this way," Angela said, leading the way.
"How are you liking it on the surface, so far? I imagine it must be rather different from what you're used to--not just because of the obvious, you know, lack of fish swimming about and all that. But the cultures up here must be vastly different from what you're used to."
"I know I had a bit of culture shock just from going from living with Humans, to living with Fae." Though her situation was somewhat...peculiar, anyway. She didn't really even know all that much about Human culture when her father had dragged her out of her great uncle's house. She never had seen other people because he had never let her go outside. All that she knew about Humans had been from before her mother died. But that had been when she was eight years old and in general, eight year olds didn't spend a lot of time contemplating culture intricacies.
At least most of them did not. She hadn't. She shook off those memories, and focused back on her current situation, keeping an eye out for the cafe as they headed out of the park area.
((I suppose after you've posted, we can consider them as having left the park? =O ))

Kamil Terrace ________________________Kamil was taking another soak in the lake. He wasn't satisfied with the water in the bathroom back at the dorm because of all the random chemicals in the water. It made him feel sick. To be able to swim in fresh water made him feel a little better but he had to admit that he missed the salt waters of his home, but he didn't want to go back just yet. He was still having fun in the surface world. There was still a lot he wanted to do before going back home.
"Right, first thing I'll do in the surface world is eat a lot of food, make a lot of new friends, become manly... and get smarter." Kamil remarked as he floated backwards lazily in the water.

 Astrid Ridell Astrid was taking a normal walk in the park. She hoped to see no one there so she can practice her skills. The big lake was clear and showed the reflection of the sky. As Astrid was viewing the big lake's reflection of the sky she noticed someone was in the lake. She tensed up. Someone is drowning!! She thought with panic. "Hold on! I'll save you!" Astrid couldn't see the person's face but he or she was in need of help! And she knew her father would do the same and save the person. Astrid jumped into the lake and swam to the person drowning.

Kamil Terrace ________________________Kamil splashed in the water and looked around. Someone was drowning!? Where!? As a merman, he could save that person. He saw a girl flailing about in the water. He wasn't sure if she was swimming or drowning. Well, she was the only person in the water. She was probably the one drowning!
Kamil dove into the water and grabbed the girl and dragged her to the safety of the banks. He couldn't lift her out of the water since he was too weak against gravity, so he just held her up so she could grab the land and pull herself out. "Heheh, that was close? Are you okay?" Kamil asked the girl with a grin thinking that he just did a good thing and he must have looked really cool.

Astrid RidellWait a second...so this person wasn't drowning? Whoa! He's a mermaid!.....er...merman... Astrid looked at the boy with wide eyes. This is the first time in her life seeing a merman up close. She remember her father telling her about them but they're mostly found in the ocean. What is this merman doing here...IN A LAKE TOO! Is he lost? Astrid thought. The boy was most certainly a merman, he has blue hair and aqua blue eyes. "Sorry about that, I thought you were the one drowning. What is a mermaid...errr...I mean merman doing in a lake? Are you lost?" Astrid asked.

Kamil Terrace ________________________Kamil pinched hr cheeks and laughed. "If you call me a mermaid again, I'll pinch your cheeks as punishment." Kamil teased, although it didn't sit well with him to be called a mermaid since his goal was to become manly after all.
"Pretty girls like you shouldn't be saving guys from drowning. But thanks for your concern. You even got your clothes wet because of me." Kamil remarked.
'And no, I'm not lost. I'm just visiting the surface with the Sea King's permission. I'm a student at Rosentale Academy. The name's Kamil Terrace!"

Astrid RidellAstrid realized her clothes were wet when he mentioned it. And her hair was all tangled and messy. She didn't mind it though. And still...she couldn't believe it. He was going to the same academy as she was. A merman!!! "I'm Astrid Ridell" Astrid said. "I was born to save people's lives! I'm a mercenary doing good deeds! Wah ha ha! Yes, I'll be the best butt-kicking mercenary there is just like my dad! Astrid turned away to calm down her excitement. She knew her dad would stay calm no matter what setting he's in. She turned to the Kamil with a straight face. "Anyways..." Astrid said in a mature tone. "Nice to meet you Kamil. Astrid let out her hand expecting Kamil to shake it.

Kamil Terrace ________________________There was that handshake again. So it really was a surface dweller greeting. It was weird. He almost smacked her with his tail since that was usually how merpeople greeted each other when meeting. Kamil took her hand and shook it energetically. "Nice to meet you too, Astrid. I can't believe we'll be going to the same school together. Hopefully we'll have some classes together. Maybe I could introduce you to my friends, Angela and Sethrian too." Kamil ranted on, still shaking her hand, "So you're a mercenary, huh? You must be pretty strong. In the ocean, I'm strong, you know. Just you wait until I get used to all this gravity pushing on me. I'll be strong enough to climb trees!"
Kamil released Astrid's hand. "Ah, but you're wet right now. If you see that bag right there, you can grab a towel and dry off using that. I heard that surface dwellers get sick easily if they're soaked in water."

Astrid went to the bag and grabbed a towel. She ruffled her hair with the towel. Kamil talked a lot, it felt like he was never going to stop shaking my hand Astrid thought in her head.
"Kamil not to be the curious type and all...but why did you decide to come to Rosentale Academy?" Astrid was holding herself from a bunch of questions. She wanted to ask him what his merman life is like. This is her first time to meet anything from the ocean that talks. She wanted to know everything. But her father would never act as foolish as that. Astrid pressed her lips together and waited for Kamil's respond.

Kamil Terrace ________________________Kamil leaned on the banks as he swished his tail in the water. "Why did I come to Rosentale? Well it's one of the few schools that'll accept mermans like me after all. Mermans can't just get up onto the surface and wander around, you know. But I mainly wanted to come to the surface world to learn all about it. It's so different from the ocean. There are so many colors and a lot more contraptions. And your traditions are so different too! It's amazing!"
Kamil decided it was probably about time he got out of the water. Besides, he wanted to try going to different places in the surface world too.
"Mind if you hand me the towel. I need to get out of the water. You might want to turn away until i get my clothes on." Kamil laughed as he ran his hand through his hair feeling kind of embarrassed.
