Once the wild haired raver mentioned his own Frei, Ethiriel’s eyes closed ever so slightly as she smiled. ”Another nick…name, I presume?” Admittedly, she was quite excited. She may have been born rather intelligent, but she was eager to meet more people; especially those of her own kind. Disappointed, however, in the fact that she couldn’t get close enough to see this “Anya,” the newborn immediately understood. ”I… shall attempt to contain… my excitement,” she said, offering a gentle smile in return.
Leo couldn’t help but laugh, even though she had moments where she would carefully think over her words, Ethiriel was so polite and proper. Then again, he hadn’t known what to expect with newborns since they were technically the size and shape of regular people you would meet on the street. ”Alright, I’ll have to put those somewhere safe once we get home,” he replied, gently tugging on Ethiriel’s arm as the two – three of them, walked out together. He was also looking forward to Ethiriel meeting Anya, but at the same time his stomach churned. While Anya was beautiful, from what the photographer understood, she had quite a temper. Hopefully the newborn Frei really could hold herself back…
As they had returned to the lobby, Leo’s attention turned back to the floating girl attached to his arm. She had been awfully quiet, and he wasn’t sure whether to be worried or not. He wasn’t familiar with her yet, and surely that would take time. Maybe she was just quiet in general…
”How’re you feeling, Ethiriel? Is everything all right?” he asked, his nerves getting the better of him. At that point, he was almost too afraid to glance back at Zeke. Leo didn’t want to seem like he wasn’t ready to take care of his own Raeven, and while he was confident that he would do just fine, everyone had their own needs and he wasn’t too sure about what he’d need to get for her just yet. He knew he could easily get tarnished silver and other metals but would she be happy?
Ethiriel merely nodded, her expression remaining neutral as her eyes stared forward. To be honest, she would rather listen to the two of them talk rather than this ringing silence. ”I am fine,” she hummed.
Leo could see Anya resting against the couch, but he could only see the back of her head. His heart sank again, wondering just how well the two of them would get along, if at all. The spider queen had been content enough with his compliments, but while Ethiriel claimed to be unable to see, who knew if she would have any patience for the handicapped Raeven. ”Zeke, would you like to do the introductions…?” he asked, casting a glance his way. Leo could only wonder if the vet was as nervous as he was.

”Another nick…name, I presume?”
He had to chuckle, especially after the quip about Ethiriel wanting to contain her excitement. It seemed this one had a sense of humor tucked beneath her elegance and posh attire.
"Yeah...Her full name is Anastacia." Unlike Zeke, the spider queen never seemed bothered by the nickname he had so lovingly bestowed upon her in the first days after her birth. Even though she clearly preferred her full title - and perhaps that would endear Ethiriel to her - the nickname was answered to as easily as her full name and with absolutely no grumbling in regards to it.
As they walked down the hall toward their destination with Leo and Ethiriel in front of him, Zeke couldn't help but watch their interactions. He wasn't all that surprised it was a quiet march to the front, but like Leo his eyes kept darting to the newborn, watching to make sure nothing was amiss. When Leo spoke up, the vet couldn't help but smile again. Asking questions to the Frei was always a good sign in his books and to Zeke it looked as though Leo was on the path to being a damn fine guardian.
The Frei's reply offered Zeke relief to a worry he didn't realize he had been holding and he nodded although neither of the two before him were looking in his direction. Of course she was fine! She was a lovely young lady getting ready to go home with a good man and start her life outside of the Lab's pristine walls. There had been no hurdles, nothing to cause alarm, and as such...well what else could she be but fine? Zeke smiled to himself at this notion but then reminded himself that if there was to be any hurdles this day, it'd more than likely come from the young woman relaxing in the room before them. Here he did have to frown and inwardly pray that Anya's good mood was still there as they all strode into the lobby.
Luckily for Zeke, it was. During the time they had been gone, nothing had gone amiss with Anastacia either. Her practice with the needle and thread was still going splendidly and her meal of mottle virus was holding well. Her lull of contentment held even as the lobby door was opened and then swung shut with the barest of clicks, all of her eyes never wavering from her practice cloth. She knew they were there and did feel that pull to show herself as the lady of the lobby to the newborn that was obviously going to be with the two males now but she was a lady and ladies were introduced.
”Zeke, would you like to do the introductions…?”
A smile graced her lips ever so briefly as Leo spoke. She wasn't fully aware of psychics or telepathy as actual concepts but in that moment she couldn't help but humor herself with the notion that the photographer had read her mind. She gave him a point for that, if only for the fact she liked the idea of someone telling Zeke to do something he should do...when it wasn't her doing it.
To the question Leo posed, Zeke inwardly agreed and slipped around the photographer and his ward. He stepped away from them and close to the Virus Raevan enough that he stood at equal distance from both parties, but kept his back to the two he had just walked with to peer at his own charge and offer her a smile.
"Anya, I'd like to introduce you to someone."
That was all it took to get the spider queen aloft. Granted her movements were slow - to draw out her mystique and prestige of course - but she did cast aside her work and float up to be introduced. As soon as she was aloft she gave her long wings a stretch, then turned to face Leo and his new arrival, floating around the line of sight blockage that was Zeke to bring the newborn and her man into focus.
As Ethiriel came into view, Anastacia paused, both out of her habit of keeping her distance and also because the Frei's appearance struck her. Her hair and skin were both old hat to the spider queen, but her eyes and outfit stood out. Had she not gotten into dresses recently, the Frei might have wrinkled her nose in distaste for the odd shade of green the newborn was clad in. However, as that was not the case and Ethriel was decked out in more than just green (and that accented color was NOT gold like a certain someone), Anastacia felt a pull of intrigue.
Green and silver... What a fitting combination. Very fitting, in fact, as she took in the newborn's glittering silver branches. Anastacia felt a pang of jealously as she now wanted to have similar trinkets gracing her figure. She cast her lavender-colored gaze to Zeke, holding her tongue but telling him he would be taking her places after this. Places that had such lovely silver things she could wear.
Zeke didn't see the entirety of the gaze, but caught the tail end of it as he looked between Ethiriel and Anastacia. He looked at his ward curiously but that oblivious returned look from him made the spider queen immediately look away from him with a mute huff. Chuckling to himself and feeling good about the interaction so far, the raver held out a hand to gesture to Leo's Raevan as he spoke.
"Anastacia, this is Ethiriel," he moved his hand from Ethiriel's way to Anya's, "Ethiriel, this is my Anya."
One of the spider queen's brows was lofted as Zeke spoke the other Frei's name. On her ears it a curious word, but not unpleasant. On her tongue however...
"Ethiriel." It sounded just the same. A strange, foreign name to be sure, but nice to say; especially in the way Anya had of drawing a new name out for the first time. Eth-eer-ee-el. It slid off the tongue and ended with a subtle flourish with that hard 'el' sound even in Anya's cool, even tone of voice. Much like the name 'Luka', Anastacia approved. "Good afternoon."
She dipped her crowned head in a brief nod of acknowledgement and lidded her lavender eyes as she did so, but her unblinking navy blues never left the pair who stood before her. They remained focused on the newborn, watching closely and filled with heavy caution as though the new female in the room would suddenly do something out of sorts. Her name and appearance might be lovely, but Anastacia wasn't one to let her guard down in the presence of new people even if she found aspects agreeable. She would relax when this newborn proved herself, but no sooner. And if she turned out to be a raving lunatic or a half wit like some other Raevans, Anastacia would immediately be done with her. Until that time however, the dark femme watched and waited; took in and accessed. If anything, this Ethiriel's outfit was already giving her ideas in regards to her newest hobby.

Leo watched nervously as he led Ethiriel toward the spider, though he supposed it was how a father felt sending their child to school for the first time, despite only having known his new companion for such a short time. He was excited, potentially having a friend for her right off the bat as well as a model for his own purposes. It was a crazy day and his nerves were everywhere in both good and bad ways. In reality, he was a bit more stressed than he realized, having worried so hard about everything being perfect and longing for everything to run smoothly. To his luck, everything was fine.
The tea plant’s eyes did not greet Anya’s, nor did they seem to focus on anything in particular. This one was hard to see – much harder than Zeke was. Thankfully, given the room’s stark contrast, she could see her fellow Frei’s form as a shadow against light. Part of her wished to get closer, attempt to get a better look but after the Raver’s warning, it was in her better judgment to remain ignorant. ”Greetings, Lady Anastacia,” she said, nearly in a hum as she bowed gracefully before her. ”It… is a pleasure.”
Her scent was rather strange. Ethiriel had no way of describing it, but the small balm of illness clung to Anya in the same way she, herself, held an aura of foliage. It didn’t bother her, but it was certainly interesting and new, much like every other thing she would be experiencing for quite a while, she was sure.
”Ethiriel can’t see very well…” Leo was quick to mention, remembering just how much the Virus enjoyed being admired. ”but maybe someday we can figure out a way to fix her eyesight.” He cast a hopeful glance toward Zeke, but he refused to get his hopes up too high. With problems with vision, a lot of the time being fixed was out of the question, and with the way she seemed to have problems it was likely that there was no way. Still, he was dead set on making life as easy and comfortable for her as possible – she was his responsibility. Part of him felt as if he had gotten a new pet, just like he had always wanted, but he knew this was much different. Much more important. He was taking in a Raeven, something that was practically human. Something that could voice its problems, needs, and wants. In some ways, this would be much easier than having a new cat or dog, but in other ways it was going to be exceedingly difficult. It was still exciting, and he almost couldn’t get over the rush.
Ethiriel nodded, her eyes remaining idly on Anya’s darkened form. ”I am sure you… are quite beautiful, Lady Anastacia.” she assured, closing her eyes as she held her hands together before her. She did wish she could see and be able to properly meet one of her own kind, but it would have to wait for another time, she supposed.

Anastacia's face remained impassive as Leo brought the newborn near. She hadn't been expecting such a formal introduction and as such, a shapely brow did raise when the duo came to a standstill a few feet before her. The other was quick to follow the first upward when Ethiriel spoke with such clear and well developed diction and then immediately bowed to the spider queen.
This is new. But not unwelcome. In fact, after recovering from the slight shock, the Frei was immediately on top of the ball. A pleased smile curved her lips and she puffed up in a preening manner. A bow AND a title befitting one such as she?! Any reservations she held toward the newborn started to evaporate right then and there. Her wings relaxed, but only for a moment, before they were spread wide to show off more of her regality.
”Ethiriel can’t see very well…”
Leo's words cut through the air and Anya's prim posturing. Her wings quivered and dropped just an inch while the crown atop her head shifted and pumped in a manner that betrayed her face and showed that this confused her. Anastacia turned her gaze to Leo and stared at him a moment, then flicked to Zeke when the photographer made a glance to her man. Zeke, standing off to the side but not forgotten, nodded to the blonde man.
"Yeah! Like I said, I'll see what I can do about setting up an appointment for Ethiriel when we're doing the paperwork thing."
After speaking to Leo, the vet turned his gaze to his ward and offered her a light smile. The Virus Raevan frowned in return and turned her attention back to the newborn. Questions started popping up in her head by the dozen, but none were spoken even as the older Frei looked the other female in the eyes and took note of her milky pupils. Her frown deepened a little more and two queries stood out in the jumbled mess of the others: How bad was this Raevan's eyesight, and how much did this impair Ethiriel to the vision of loveliness that hovered before her? These questions were given an answer when the Tea Frei next spoke, and in turn Anastacia had an answer for Ethiriel.
"I most definitely am." She lofted again as she spoke, head rising and appendages stretching, only deflating somewhat when Zeke made a sudden 'pffffffft' noise from his corner of the room. In that area, the vet hastily pressed a fist to his lips, but a smile had formed behind that could not be so easily disguised. Even if it had been, the way the corners of his eyes crinkled was a dead give away. Regardless, Anastacia cast him a disgruntled glare.
"What?" She said flatly, crossing her arms across her chest. The vet only shook his head in response and hummed a single note behind his hand. Anastacia rolled her lavender pair of eyes at her man and snapped her wings shut as she floated back down to her normal height. "It's true," she said with surprising plainness to the Frei near to her, deciding she had enough of Zeke for right now and finding the Frei more favorable with her greens and silvers; bows and polite words. "Even though some might disagree."
"I didn't say anything!" Knowing he was ignored and giving the best defense he could, Zeke offered Leo a smile - half to apologize, half to say that it seemed this introduction had been a success. He had seen the way all of his ward's eyes had brightened after hearing the word 'lady' in regards to her, so if anything, Ethiriel's diction and present mannerisms would be a plus point for her in Anastacia's books. He couldn't ask for more, really, and figured it was safe to let the two of them float nearby while he and Leo covered the legal matters and scheduling. He gestured to the desk.
"I think the ladies can handle themselves," he stepped into his area and splayed the manilla folder out on top of the desk, "so why don't you and I handle this stuff, eh? I just need you to read and sign a few things and once you do, we'll figure out a good time for an appointment and then you two can be on your way!"

Anya’s initial response had somehow caught Leo off guard, his attention once more settling on her cold eyes. Ethiriel’s expression hardly changed, merely a twitch of the brow as she closed her eyes and dipped her head. ”While… I am unable to… “feast my eyes,” for myself; I hope to settle… ground and say your voice is quite lovely.” she hummed, opening her eyes once more to settle on the dark outline that was Anya. As they stood, the newborn gently took her arm away from Leo’s and held them elegantly before her, nodding once more in agreement. She would be fine here as they did their work; much to Leo’s immediate and shortly lived fret.
Casting a quick glance between the two women, Leo followed Zeke back over to the desk, sitting down and pulling out his own pen. ”I’m free just about any time so long as I get word long enough ahead,” he said, tapping the head of the pen against his knee. ”Two weeks is the notice at the restaurant, and generally my photography is at my own pace – same with schooling. Would the appointment be similar to a human’s eye exams?” He was so full of questions, almost unsure of whether or not there would be actual answers in the end. It had been so long since he had owned a pet of his own, and this was much grander a creature than a cat or a dog. Would she ever be able to see properly? Was she stuck like this? Would she even be fine with it or does it even bother her? Every once in a while, he couldn’t help but cast a nervous glance toward the two on the other side of the room, partially covered by the couch.
The younger of the two girls, however, had remained rather silent as she continued to float in front of the nearest chair. It had little to do with her confidence, she was quite sure of herself in the situation despite being at such a young age. No, she waited, listening carefully to whatever minute sound that Anastacia or the men had made. She had nothing to say, nothing worth mentioning unless asked, in her mind. Her breathing was gentle, making hardly any noise as she waited patiently for Anya to speak.
And, of course, the extended silence would cause Leo to turn his head in curiosity only to be called back by the raver.

With her back to the men, and now that the young Frei was fully in Anastacia's vision, the Virus Frei took to looking at this green and silver stranger more closely. Her colors were most definitely favorable - the silver especially - but overall she was elegant in appearance. Not as elegant as herself, in spider queen's opinion - of course - but when she thought back to the newborns she had encountered in months and years past, this one stood out in leaps and bounds in terms of appearance. She wasn't overly colorful or gaudy, nor was she plain like some Raevans, and her personality thus far was quite agreeable. This Ethiriel was different and while sometimes 'different' translated into 'eyesore' or 'annoyance', it seemed that in this moment the word had gotten a new meaning: 'favorable'. And this was hammered in all the more when the newborn gave Anastacia another compliment.
”While… I am unable to… “feast my eyes,” for myself; I hope to settle… ground and say your voice is quite lovely.”
Anastacia raised a hand and touched her throat lightly with her fingertips. The smile that had played on her lips for a moment previously returned in that instant; as did the flairing of her wings and crown. Anya had always enjoyed her own voice and its cool-toned evenness, but she had never been complimented on it by others before. Her looks yes, but her voice was entirely new. The spider queen gave a slight nod of her head.
"This is also true." She spoke slowly, clearly speaking each word and relishing the sound of each syllable as they made their way out into the world. She paused just to the side of the newborn, judging the other Raevan's words and voice. Ethiriel's grasp of speech was shocking, and in the back of her mind Anastacia knew that when she was her age she hadn't had such an extensive vocabulary. However, for once she wasn't looking for things to nitpick and told herself that she did in fact have one; she had just chosen not to utilize it way back when.
"Yours is fine." She nodded again, confirming it to the world and sealing her judgment in.
"Trust me, you'll have plenty of word. We don't just spring dates up on people here...Though I guess I'm kinda lying when I say that. Raevan births are pretty much like throwing a stick into someone's bike spokes when it comes to giving notice." Zeke scratched at his beard as he spoke, then chuckled and shook his head. "But I guess that's no one's fault, 'cause we can't predict those sorts of things." The vet shrugged, a hopeless smile on his face, but that hopeless quality was replaced by gentle reassurance when he next spoke. "I figure the appointment will be similar. Dr. Kyou's got just about everything you could ever imagine for all kinds of situations back in the laboratory."
He would know; he had seen plenty with his own eyes. The lab itself wasn't just the tanks for Raevans and the accompanying monitoring equipment. It also housed medical equipment of all sorts - from stethoscopes and thermometers to blood pressure pumps and what curiously looked to be an old ultrasound machine. Too say that Dr. Kyou would have optometry equipment was unlikely to be wrong.
"Since you've got such an open schedule, I think what I'll do is talk to Dr. Kyou and see what time would be good for him. Once he's got a slot open, I'll give you a call, and Ethiriel can be given a look at. How's that sound?" Zeke finally took his seat at the desk, pulling out a pen and a stack of Post-It notes. In a flash he had written 'Talk to Kyou about Ethiriel; set appointment for eye exam' on a shockingly blue square and stuck it to the front of his computer's monitor. He then noticed Leo looking at the two Raevans and looked that way as well, but unlike the other man, Zeke's face clearly showed his awe at seeing Anastacia interacting with Ethiriel. She was interacting with another for this long - it had to be a record.
"They seem to be getting along," and he couldn't have sounded happier for that fact alone.

Ethiriel’s slender brows rose, though the calm smile remained just as gentle as it had been during their entire interaction. It was hard to tell what amused her more – Anya’s vanity or her apparent inability to compliment others. It wasn’t entirely off-putting, of course; she didn’t feel threatened by her companion and even then it was somewhat amusing. The spider must butt-heads with others often, at least with those who aren’t as sure of themselves.
”You… humble me, Anastacia,” she mused, raising her hand to carefully tuck a loose strand of hair away from her face. Closing her eyes, she hovered lower until she met the seat behind her and carefully lowered herself onto it, floating an inch or so away from the fabric. ”If you do… not mind my asking, what… is your age, Anastacia?”
While he hadn’t kept his eyes on Zeke, Leo had been listening intently despite his gaze being locked on the two Raevens across the room. A smile spread across his tanned face as he turned to nod in agreement. ”It’s pretty exciting,” he admitted, scratching just beneath his glasses. ”And that sounds perfectly ideal to me. Hopefully the doctor can find some time soon and if not I’m sure she’ll be fine.” At least, if the current moment was any indication. Ethiriel seemed perfectly content for the time being and perhaps, considering she was born this way, it wasn’t much of a hindrance at all. She didn’t know what she was missing and was possibly fine with it.
He would have to ask her about it later just to be sure.
”Is there anything else?” Leo asked, his hand impatiently reaching for the armrest of his chair as if the rest of him was just itching to stand. He could have laughed at himself, looking like a child taking a new pet home for the first time. He was excited and nervous; such a sudden and great responsibility landing on him but more than anything he almost felt prideful. For as long as he’d known about the Raevens they’d been a major interest of his and now he finally had one of his own – and to his luck, she was beautiful, intelligent and calm.

"I am a year old; I will be two in April." She sounded so proud of that fact, but it wasn't every day she was older than someone by more than just looks. When Ethiriel sat down Anya followed her motions, "sitting" on a chair near to the one the Tea Raevan had taken up. The spider queen cast her wings over the back of the chair and relaxed in the presence of the other. Ethiriel had quickly proven to be calm, rational, and most certainly not a threat to Anya or her personal space. Like everything else about this newborn, the situation was new for Anastacia - but most definitely not unwelcome.
"Well one of us will definitely get into contact with you as soon as possible, but so long as you keep an eye on her until she gets used to your place, I'm sure she'll be just fine in the meantime."
Zeke glanced at Leo as he spoke but like the other man kept his eyes on the two Frei now sitting over yonder. Zeke's whole disposition brightened further when he saw Anastacia follow the Silver Raevan's lead and take a seat of her own. It made him want to turn to the photographer and ask if he wouldn't mind taking a tour of the facility just so he could let Anya and Ethiriel continue on as they were. He so wished he could, but Leo was sure to want to get his Raevan home to get her used to that place Zeke just mentioned and it wasn't like they wouldn't be seeing each other ever again!
Little by little might be best. Let Anya test the waters once or twice instead of throwing her into the deep end all at once...
Leo questioned him about something and Zeke had to take a moment before realizing what he had said. The vet opened his mouth as though to speak, but then thought one better and turned around to get the list of names and numbers of all the Guardians. He made it a point to highlight his digits and address before handing it over to Leo.
"You'll be needing this. Mine's the highlighted one," he looked to the two Raevans again, before looking to Leo and leaning his head toward the pair. "Maybe once you get her settled in and looked at, we could set up a thing for them." He smiled, not thinking the word 'playdate' was appropriate in this instance for these two. Regardless, he didn't want to see these starting points flicker and die before they even caught fire. Things were looking hopeful for Anya and he would do whatever he had to in order to make this possibility grow. "I think they're getting along well and everyone needs a friend, right? Other than that though...I think you're all set. You have my number so if you need anything just give me a call."
Zeke's words reached her ears and Anastacia turned her head to look at the man. Her eyes flicked to the big clock hanging by the glass door Ethiriel had come from and she frowned. It was still early, couldn't Zeke keep Leo entertained? That was one of his "gifts" wasn't it? Why was it failing now?
Anya sighed, annoyed by this, but perhaps it was for the best. If she made a fuss it might look poorly and in the presence of this particular Raevan she definitely did not want that to happen. She rose, possibly abruptly to her companion, and folded her long wings close to her back. She looked down at the other, but not with her usual distaste, instead speaking plainly and matter of factly.
"Your man is going to be taking you home now. He seems..." She looked over at Leo in particular this time. Compared to Zeke physically this one might seem mundane to some, but to Anya he was just normal, and that wasn't such a bad thing. "Okay, I suppose."
She wasn't sure what else there was to say, outside of a polite 'goodbye' which would only be said when Ethiriel was floating out the double doors at the front of the lobby. That was the only thing left to do, except, perhaps to point the newborn in the right direction.
"If you get up and turn right, he's over there."

Quick to catch the near gloat in Anastacia’s voice, Ethiriel offered another genial smile as she closed her eyes and nodded. Unlike the spider, the tea Frei couldn’t move her wings at all and merely kept them hovered over the back of her own seat, back straight as her posture screamed proper manners. However, even though she felt at ease she didn’t relax, nor did she catch Anya’s change in position.
”Thank you very much, Zeke, I’ll be sure to call,” Leo announced, a similar idea passing through his mind thanks to how well the two females seemed to be getting along. While probably not a tour of the facility, he was eager now that his new companion seemed to easily make friends, even if this was only her first and he didn’t want to miss an opportunity for her to form companionships of her own. ”Hopefully she’s able to make friends this easily outside, too. She seems like she’s got everything under control.” Reaching his hand out for Zeke to take, he offered a sturdy shake as he mindlessly reached for the camera he didn’t bring once again, though this time it didn’t nag in the back of his mind quite as harshly now that he knew he would be seeing these two again without question.
Ethiriel perked, having not expected Anya’s sudden observation but she didn’t turn, merely lifting her chin in acknowledgement. Her smile spread into a toothy grin for just the minute of seconds at her friend’s wording, eventually settling back into a thin, lightly curved line. To be referred to as ‘her man’ was amusing in its own right but she wouldn’t have considered him so. No, he would be a caretaker, a companion – she did not own him nor would she ever.
”It was… certainly a pleasure, Lady… Anastacia. I hope… to become more acquainted with you in… the future.” she affirmed, hovering over the chair and offering a slight bow. She might not have known the spider’s exact whereabouts but surely the gesture was appreciated. While Ethiriel didn’t move, Leo was quick to gently touch her arm after a few strides forward, to which she eagerly took in her own, another nod of her head. Giving Anya a goodbye of his own, as well as another nod and farewell to Zeke, the two carefully strode out of the lab – Leo ushered Ethiriel carefully and securely into the passenger seat of his car and they were off. The ride home was smooth, careful of any bumps or rough patches for the blind girl’s sake and they were able to make it home safely.
