Carefully disentangling one of the beasts from her hair, and shoving the thermometer in it's mouth, Clarice heard the other girl out. "Ah well, as far as sword techniques go, I'm probably not the best person..." and then her eyebrows shot a bit, "Unless yours is a heavy weapon as well?" She warmed to the idea instantly, they were...well, not exactly the most common of weapons. To bear one was both an honour and well...a really huge pain in the a**. Raegar grunted happily at this, as being a really huge anything was pretty complimentary in his opinion.

After jotting down what she needed, Molly wandered back over to Clarice, holding her current victim tightly in her grasp. “Ah, yes!” She cried. “Not so much that it’s a sword…because uh…it’s not…it’s a lance…but it is heavy!” In her excitement, she crushed the canon cat against her chest, not at all hearing its pitiful cries at the moment. “I fell over when I pulled it out of those…stone tablets in that room…” She admitted sheepishly.

I’m not entirely positive how to handle it…” Molly waited to pass this canon cat onto the Life Hunter when she was done when her current one.

Instantly Clarice was beaming at the other woman. She took a moment to admire Molly's firm grip on her current specimen, feeling that this skill was a definite sign of her being a fellow heavy wielder. "I'll help you! I have all sort of help! For you." She remembered all too well the trainee days filled with humiliation and property damage, if she could help such an adorable trainee avoid some of the pitfalls of using a stupidly large weapon...

"In fact!" She continued brightly, "I think we've done enough to help the next person," poor b*****d, "...finish this up in a reasonable amount of time. So why don't you go get cleaned up and I'll meet you down at the sparring grounds?"

Help the nice trainee while pawning this job off on someone else?

Double Rainbow.

Miss Clarice was going to help her?

Her?

Woah…she felt honored, and the surprised was clearly shown on her face. “…O…okay!” She replied after a moment. But wait…so…they could just leave the Canon Cats be then? Molly wasn’t too certain about leaving a job unfinished, but if Clarice said it was alright, then it must be alright (secretly, maybe, Molly was a bit relieved to be free of the duty now too. Canon Cats were not nice or pleasant)! The Mist trainee released the current one she was holding, and it zoomed away from her like a bat out of hell. “Yes ma’am!” She chirped as well, carefully placing the tools she was given down, and without a moment’s hesitation, scrambled out of the labs, careful not to let any other Canon Cats out.

As instructed, and free of her awesome coveralls, she stood waiting at the sparing grounds, looking over her gold spiraled bracelet anxiously. To think she’d finally get some pro tips on how to wield this thing when it was in its true form!

Molly was proving all eager and adorable, and as Clarice dodged another flying cat beast, she summoned the poor b*****d of choice.

Text to Intermediate Trainee Robert Morris

Come to lab 12b
I want to show you my minipets

Text sent, she left him a sheet of instructions on what to do, and then practically skipped out to get changed and cleaned-up. In sweats and a tank she reached the sparring grounds in good time, though Molly was already waiting for her. Girl was already scoring points with Clarice left and right.

Beaming at the trainee, she clapped her hands together and began cheerfully, "Alright, first things first, stretching." As she started walking the trainee through her preferred set of stretches she continued, "When you have time to stretch before training, do so. You won't have a chance to when you're in the field, but here at home, don't take stupid risks. As heavy wielders, this goes doubly so for us. Our weapons and bond will help us lift and swing them in pretty impossible ways, but it still puts a big strain on our bodies."

Oh…Miss Clarice arrived looking like she was ready to work out…Molly still had her coat and scarf on. Oops. She was under the impression she needed to be wearing them at all times. Eager to fix that, Molly pulled off the items and folded them neatly, placing them off to the side as she listened intently. Now she was down to her green sweater and pants, which was more fitting, right?

I see!” Molly nodded her head enthusiastically, and followed the Life Hunter through the exercises. Gee, this was helping to ease her anxiety about wielding her weapon as well. Okay, stuff to write down later. Stretch. “Uh, Miss Clarice!” Molly interjected when there was a pause. “…If I’m certain I have the time when I am away from…home…I should stretch, right? Oh! But if I don’t have time…do you have any recommendations?”

"Honestly? In the field the best thing you can do is whatever you need to do in order to survive." Clarice sighed and switched positions, "I mean I could say be careful or stay aware of your body, but as a trainee, being too self conscious in a real fight can get you killed." She stood up and continued stretching, "Just keep training during down time. Eventually the optimal forms and motions will become reflex and that will go a long way."

When she gained a nice loose and ready feeling, the assistant shook out her arms a bit and then turned to Molly, "Feeling good? Now, with heavy weapons, summoning is important. You've got to be aware of your environment and the people around you. You said you saw me fighting at the Gala," a light flush warmed Clarice's cheeks, "...I wasn't exactly clear-headed that night, and so you must have also seen the way Raeg got stuck in the wall. That kind of problem is pretty typical of our weapons, and when it comes to summoning them...well, a mistake can be costly right from the start of the battle. So for now, I advise you from summon anywhere indoors, near walls, or in the vicinity of a division leader."

Just remembering Caelius' face when she...

Let's not think about that.

"Right! Anyway, summon your weapon and let's see what you're working with here,"
PostPosted: Sat Jan 28, 2012 10:08 am

This was all really good advice…she wished she could write it all down now…but hopefully she could remember it well enough for later. Write it down, and then look over it every day to keep as a reminder. Keep training. Molly nodded her head vigorously as she switched positions with the Life Hunter. “Understood, ma’am!”

Once again, she nodded her head enthusiastically once she was all stretched out, and clasped her fingers over her stomach as she listened. Wait…whaaaaat? Raeg getting stuck in a wall wasn’t planned? The surprise as clearly shown on her face. But…But Clarice made it look so…natural and planned. Like she had meant to do it. Oh well. That didn’t diminish any of the Life Hunter’s awesome-ness in her eyes. “Got it.” She replied with another nod. No indoors, no walls, and no division leaders. Yes, Molly wanted to not be in (any more) trouble anytime soon, thanks!

Okay!” Already taking Clarice’s advice into mind, Molly walked away from the Life Hunter, putting some good distance between them. It was probably over doing it, but better safe than sorry. She looked around as well, and seeing that it was pretty clear, held out both of her hands and summoned her lance. Molly nearly stumbled over as it appeared, and immediately the drill bit end went right to the ground. Molly held it up by the handle, and looked back towards Clarice anxiously.

Wincing a little in sympathy as the weapon touched the ground, Clarice went on, "The first thing you need to understand is the while your weapon is heavy, and should easily unbalance you? You can handle it. The biggest obstacle you'll face, along with that little...wall issue, is simply believing that you can wield your weapon. Because of the bond, the ability to do so is already there, but training your mind and reflexes to accept that is another thing entirely."

With a gesture, she summoned Hraegar, spreading her feet and carefully holding the sword out from her body with one hand, the muscles in her arm standing out in sharp relief. "Now, under normal circumstances, this should snap my wrist. Anybody attempting to lift Raeg even with both hands wouldn't be able to do this as easily as I can with one. All because of the bond, it means more than just having a weapon an a voice in your head. You two are part of each other, and the weapon you summon is very much an extension of yourself."

Shifting slowly to a two handed grip, Clarice continued to hold the massive sword straight out, "For now, we'll start out with both hands, slowly bring yourself to this position and just hold. Let your weapon help you, it understands what you're both capable of better than you do right now."

Yeah…Molly thought she could handle it too…just with both of her hands and a lot of stumbling around. So imagine her complete and utter surprise as Clarice summoned her own weapon and held it with one hand. It just didn’t look real, but oh, it was. Molly squeaked in surprise, dropping her weapon out of shock, and wincing at the colorful chorus of curses and ill words that Vaska decided to grace her with at the sudden action.

The Mist trainee scrambled to pick the lance back up, leaning the handle against her shoulder for now as she listened to Clarice’s words. He was…an extension of herself? Did she need to…nurture a bond? That’s what it seemed like. Apparently Clarice must have a really good bond with her weapon to be able to wield it the way she did, right? Vaska seemed whole heartedly in agreement with the Life Hunter as well. Why yes, he did know better than Molly, and if he had to carry more than his own weight to be good, then so be it.

Molly was still feeling skeptical of herself, but between following Clarice’s kind instructions along with Vaska’s bold assurances that he’d handle it, she’d give it a go! She stepped back a bit, letting the handle lower down and wrapped both of her hands around it. “Okay…” She took a deep breath, and let her weapon guide her through the motions. How odd…why did it seem lighter now? Molly looked at the tip of the lance like it was haunted as it started to come off of the ground, slowly guiding it up like how Clarice held Hraegar.

"Excellent, Molly!" Clarice cheered the trainee on, her heart warmed by the sight of the girl managing that massive weapon. "Now," She slowly shifted her stance and pose, and then held it for several minutes, "I'm not super familiar with wielding a lance, so for now, just let your weapon guide you through a few positions. Take it slow though. You'll have to move more quickly in battle, but for us the focus is mainly on balance, control, and being aware of your environment."

Eventually she shifted again, still moving in slow motion as she spoke, "Most hunters come here not knowing how to wield a weapon at all. Fortunately, the bond and weapon's awareness allow us a certain amount of skill on an almost instinctive level. Which is good to start out with but," her smile grew grim, "...it's not enough to survive for very long. Which is why training is definitely important. There's only a couple hunters that use a lance, fortunately one is on the island and the assistant for your division. He's um..." Clarice turned slightly awkward. "He used to be a Sun hunter, so he should be able to give you some effective advice on fighting with a lance."

Molly wouldn’t have been surprised if she was dreaming. Seeing her weapon nearly parallel from the ground was just too unreal. Regardless, Miss Clarice’s encouraging words and guidance were incredibly welcomed and cherished, and she’d do whatever it took to continue to please the Life Hunter. “U-understood!” Thank goodness she could take it slow right now, and following the advice and that of her weapon’s, Molly shifted into a new position as well, holding it as Clarice did.

Hazel eyes darted over to the young woman as she shifted and spoke, and the Mist trainee gave a nod of her head. Oh yeaaah...did she agree with Clarice’s words entirely. “O..oh…there is?” Molly’s voice seemed pleasantly surprised, and her expression turned sheepish. Oops. He was in her division? She was a bad Mist trainee, bad, bad, bad for not knowing that! She was rather interested in seeking out this Mist Assistance next…but… “…Ah…Miss Clarice…would it be okay to ask him?” Her voice was a bit hushed. She didn’t want to get beaten or anything for asking questions, kay thanks.

The blonde's eyebrows rose at the girl's behavior as she asked if it was okay to ask Lance for help, "Oh, it should be fine, like I said, it's only the division leaders you have to be careful with. And you're a mistie, so you don't even have to worry, because Aria's all reasonable and nice and pretty." That last probably wasn't entirely relevant to the conversation, but there would always be a little part of Clarice that had a girlcrush on the Mist leader.

Clearing her throat, she shifted once again, enjoying the slowly increasing burn of the exercise. "But anyways, Lance is a nice enough guy, just a little hard to find sometimes." Sometimes she worried that he avoided her on the few times she sought him out with designs for a new, improved wheelchair that had a built in helicopter function, but that was just silly.

Oh okay, just the Division leaders, right. But apparently Aria was nice and pretty. Molly kept that information tucked away. If Clarice made it a point to mention it, it had to be important, right? The Mist trainee beamed at the Life Hunter. “Oh! She’s just like you, then?” Molly thought Clarice was very reasonable and nice and pretty too, so it worked out.

She shifted as well, depending on what Vaska told her. “Ah, understood!” Her brows furrowed a bit. Maybe she’d need to go poke around and ask about his whereabouts then. “Um…Thank you for all of your help and taking time out of your schedule Miss Clarice! I really, really appreciate it, and I’d love you help you out in the labs anytime, so please just let me know when you need it!

Desummoning Raeg, Clarice paused to stare at Molly, blushing fiercely, "Oh my...ha...I'm not...Aria's like, way amazing. But...thank you, that's really a compliment." At the offer to help in the lab anytime, Clarice's heart grew three sizes that day.

"Oh, Molly..." Clarice placed her hands, shaking her head slightly, "Molly, Molly...you are so much the best right now. If you ever need like, bandages, runic upgrades, or minor explosives, just give me a call."
