Jude just smirked at the Division Leader, "Sir, I wouldn't call you out if I didn't intend on paying you back tenfold," he said back. It was not haughty but still the challenge was very evident. "Cowering is the only thing I plan to fail at. I am not asking for you to see me as an equal. Hell you don't have to look at me as a human being but at least acknowledge that I have some form of potential."
Everyone had a potential. Everyone. Why Caelius didn't seem to see that baffled the young Death Hunter to no end.
He tried to grip one of his punching daggers in his broken hand more firmly as he suddenly rushed forward, "Time to pay the piper."
The daggers punched through the air toward Caelius targeting chest, face and legs in rapid succession.

This time, there was no scuffle, or the light clatter of really, ornament weapon against ornament weapon. Only the low hum of his scythe weapon gave away Caelius's intention as almost immediately, Circe was in one hand, the blunt surface of the weapon deflecting the attack.
He swung his weapon downwards, forcing the remaining Fear charge into the ground, the air trembling just slightly. If he was going for the intimidation factor, it was working quite well.
"There will be no promises," The Death Hunter did not move from his spot, "Until you clear your original debt."

"I always pay my debt. I never intended on leaving loose ends," he said simply as he backed out of the attack for the moment. His severely wounded hand felt as if it was throbbing and the fingers had swollen due to the breaking.
He crossed his punching daggers blade to blade as he stared at Caelius and his scythe, "I will do what it takes to pay my debts."
In spirit of Debt repayment he moved forward and made a few more swipes at Caelius.

While the intention was noble really, to go through a momentary breakthrough in one's life story, power up, and somehow level up enough to defeat the ultimate bad guy in a feat of powered up strength, there was unfortunately one detail missing.
It was really hard to imagine Caelius even so much as believing in a single positive outcome.
The Death Hunter leader simply moved the pole-end of his weapon a little, forcing Jude off balance. A loud thwack and the trainee was eating dirt and grass, literally.
"I will relinquish that you did indeed fulfill one of the mission requirements which is of course, adaptability. Your attitude however, is a ******** eyesore. If you would like to continue working under my division, I recommend you show at least the decency to restrain yourself." He leaned over, slightly, blunt end of the weapon digging into Jude's back, purposely humiliating the trainee. "I hope I am making myself very clear."

He lay on the ground facing it and becoming rather familiar with it throughout the day he could say for sure that it was hard unfriendly ground, just as unfriendly as the man attempting to dominate him by digging the blunt part of the scythe into his back.
{You should back down right now.} Yom advised quietly.
Jude succumbed silently as he only tilted his head to stare up at Caelius, "As a crystal, Sir."
{You must respect authority sometimes even if they treat you poor.} Yom added simply.
The young hunter bit back anything further that could have been construed as disrespect.

Slowly, the weight against Jude was lifted. "Then consider this promotion mission completed. You will hear back in a few days the results."
As the trainee moved to stand up, it felt for a second as if a train had slammed into him with a resounding whoosh, knocking the wind entirely out of him. There was the feeling of something biting into his back, a sharp, blossoming sort of pain even-
- the next thing he knew Jude Hargrave was lying in a pool of his own blood. The last thing he heard was Caelius telling someone to "get this thing cleaned up". OOC - Congratulations! Jude has passed his examinations (or so we hope), but it might take him a few days to recover from the aftermath. - He will also find a few days later a new coat, signaling of course his promotion. It is only proper after all, to replace the coat after the old one got trashed.
