It seemed as time like any other on the grid. The lights from the bridge shone but just past it towards the slums leading to the outlands a program was running, trying desperately to get away. She was pursued by several programs laughing and enjoying their hunt, their Orange and Yellow identifier lights pulsating, their disk drawn. As the program with her blue identifier lights shone brightly almost as a target to the ravenous programs. As they finally cornered her she cowered afraid of her fate. Three programs surged on her spouting nonsense, telling her of her misdeeds, announcing their ranks among LUC's army. As one prepared to strike raising his hand high The woman screamed but her scream was drowned out by the scream of one of the programs.
The other two turned to see a fourth...a strange looked program with no identifier lights...no disk... He held one of the male programs by the throat in the air. The programs legs flailed helplessly and he reached out for help from his comrades who had turned and began to rush in but as they neared the programs code seemed to be disrupted and violently he disappeared into the digital air with a puff of smoke. Nothing was left except the original program that was holding him. The program looked down at his smoking palm, or at least apparently looked down, he had no visible eyes or facial features so it became hard to tell. The second program apparently the leader of the group abandoned the female program they were abusing and immediately threw his disk at the standing mysterious program and as it looked at the approaching disk it dissipated into nothing but smoke.
An eerie looking fog seemed to linger in the area, bits and pieces of unfinished algorithms drifted around amidst the fog. The programs backed away finally one of them asking the question of
'Did he know who he was dealing with?' and
'Why was he doing this?' An eerie voice spoke but it did not speak directly, but resonate in the area, a creepy whisper of an echo:
"I can't remember...I can't remember anything...All that I know....Is that I need more..."
As the last portion of his words were echoed the cloud came together and materialized behind the leader of this group and over the male program stood Ghost materialized and looking down at the program as he finished his voice now solid and deep:
"Data..."
As he spoke the male program turned to him a horrified look on his face Ghost placed the dark hands on either side of the programs head his hands horizontal, his fingers bent as if to grasp his head but instead the same disruption seemed to occur within the program before he also dissipated absorbed into Ghost's programming any stray data being reconstructed and incorporated into Ghost own code making him more complete. As he finished the upload he looked to the last program and began to walk towards him as he did white identifier lights sparked to life one white looking eye appearing as well. As he approached the program turned and ran jumping into the air and breaking apart his baton lights forming around him into a light cycle and speeding away vowing vengeance.
Ghost turned his head to look at the female program who shivered and cover her self hoping he wouldn't absorb her to and plainly he spoke.
"Program...Ally..."
With that he faded into smoke and faded away, as the light cycle zoomed away and began across the bridge, the program looked ahead glad to be away, he had lost his crew leader but by reporting back to LUC hopefully another crew could be put together, maybe with him as the head and they would hunt down this smoke program and erase him. As this program came back to reality ahead he saw something standing on the center of the bridge leading to the city, a single program lit by white identifier lights, it was the smoke program, Ghost.
As Ghost stood he bent his right shoulder bringing his hand palm up to about his chest level. Focusing his coding he strained his hand and a white id disk formed the lights shining but the coding slightly weak. He couldn't take out a light cycle with this, but it was his programming, he could edit it. Raising his hand over his head, Ghost brought both arms up the disk drifted to the center of his hands. As he strained both arms the disk expanded suddenly a pulsation and it became 2x the size of a normal disk, another pulsation it became 4x as big, one last and it was 8x the size of a normal disk floating above his head as the light cycle came towards him. He leaned his body and rotating his arms and flinging them forward the spinning large disk, too wide for the for the bike to dodge, it smoothly cut through the light cycle bursting into data and the program inside lunging forward and rolling on the ground right to Ghost feet, the large disk fading into nothingness.
Ghost reached looked down at the program who was attempting to crawl away from him, facing him but backing away as fast as he could on his hands. Ghost walked forward the echo of his steps on the bridge every bit as intimidating as himself. He drew his hand back his fingers together and thumb tucked in like a blade and with a mighty thrust pushed his hand through the torso of the grounded program. As the program's coding disrupted and was absorbed. As Ghost stood he looked to the city that was before him, he hadn't been there yet to his memory...memory. Ghost focused as as he did so fell to his knees clutching his silhouette of a head seemingly a helmet flashes of images came to his mind it was nothing he could picture, numbers came to mind flashes of matrices, messages and finally one portion came up and burned the image into his skull 'AZ-627'. He fell to his hands normally he would be breathing hard, but then again programs didn't need to breath. Weakly he stood, and looked towards the city once more whoever or whatever 'AZ-627' was it would be located inside this city and he would find it.
...Is I need more Data."
