Raven just smiled and opened her arms to her sweet loot. “Rice crispy treats, some homemade fudge, some cookies. You know. The normal holiday haul. I was up late last night making all of this for the party. I think it all turned out pretty well.”

She reached over and opened up a bag of M&M’s that she had brought, popping one into her mouth.

“Really, Quinn. After Christmas…I need to work out like a beast. Normally I don’t let myself eat so many sweet things…but…Christmas is an exception. Right?”

She hoped the other girl would understand. Sometimes you just wanted sugar. Chocolate. The whole nine yards. Of course, bringing it to a party nearly ensured that Raven didn’t eat it all, so it was all good.

Kestrel turned up in her most 'formal' attire which really wasn't formal in the slightest but then she didn't have much of anything at the moment. She had only come to the party because she gathered there would be food and drink and she was starving. She was becoming less and less a people person that was for sure.

She reached the house quickly enough and knocked on the door. She didn't know these people well enough to let herself in, that and she had only seen one of them recently powered up so she was just going to tread lightly and hope no one had realised her absence from well everything.

Parties... she really wasn't the party kind of girl. Ah well she had to get use to it one of these days. It seemed there were going to be many gatherings.

Veer, it seemed, was in a state of perpetually late; late to class, late to work, late to parties, late to everything except very specific online engagements. Those he tended to show up to early.

On top of that, he appeared to have missed the memo that this was a dress up occasion. He'd taken the time to put his hair up, red fringe starting up like a rooster above his head, and he'd at least hauled on a clean t-shirt, but beyond that it was the same battered, flame-toed boots as always, the same jeans with holes shredded through the knees, the same leather jacket tossed over it. Compared to the girls in their fancy dresses, he was going to look like a thug, crashing.

Speaking of. He blinked at Kestrel, standing at the door and waiting for someone to notice her, and quirked an eyebrow. One hand was filled with the biggest cheapest bottle of vodka he'd been able to find; the other, three small packages wrapped in newspaper, seemingly by some sort of fumbling monkey. Veer wasn't very good at wrapping. This didn't deter him, though, from stepping right past her and nudging it open, moving inside backwards so he could meet Kestrel's eyes.

"Don't be a p***y, next time, seriously. They don't bite."

Lydia was grinning from ear to ear at Jett's compliment to the apartment. She'd been frantic the whole of the day in her worries that no one would make it, and those that did wouldn't be impressed. Unfounded worries, all of them, but they'd been plaguing her, so every time someone commented positively on the decor or the party itself a wave of relief washed over the red head and left her damn near giddy. It was a little sad really, but she'd get over the more people showed up. Raven's hug certainly helped, and she offered the blonde a fond squeeze. The three of them going shopping together had been a wonderful idea.

The compliment directed entirely to Her and Grant's attire had the young woman standing a little straighter, grin turning just a little smug, but she blinked when Jett asked her who exactly Grant was, glancing back towards the young man and his pale suit. "Grant Caudwell, my boyfriend." She left off there, just to be a pain in the a**, but she wasn't looking to irritate any of her court mates. "The newest member of the Dark mirror Court." There was a definite note of pride in Lydia's voice. Despite Ares' true intentions, the teen felt herself responsible for Grant's awakening somehow, as if proximity and desire had something to do with it.

The mention of candy pulled Lydia's attention down to the spre ad now laid out on their coffee table, and she helped herself to a rice crispy treat. "I didn't really get confirmation from anyone I don't talk to on a daily basis, but I'm happy to see lots our of friends showing up." She hadn't thought to include a request for rsvp in her message, she should of. Regardless they'd set the table for the whole of their court, all 13 members.

Veer let himself in, and Lydia offered him a grin and a wave, though it faltered mid gesture as she noticed what he was wearing. Honestly, that boy was impossible sometimes.

And actually they did bite, but only when asked, or stuck as cats. Neither such circumstances had been met though, so the members of the DMC currently milling about Quinn and Lydia's apartment were fairly harmless. Probably. The young hostess did move towards the door to offer Kestrel a warm smile in greeting. "Hey, welcome to the party, glad you could make it. Go ahead and make yourself at home."

Kestrel gave one of those looks as he let himself in and turned to her. It was one of those looks that basically said ******** off. Probably not the best way to start but she had been trying to be polite! She wasn't as friendly with them as they all seemed to be and she wasn't about to let herself into their house. It just seemed rude.

She entered though and smiled at Lydia. "Thanks." She then walked in and looked around before sitting down where she found a space. She unlike some of them hadn't brought alcohol or anything, lack of money had seen to that. She had at least brought herself and though it may have been a bad start with Veer it could only get better right?

She stared at Grant for a while, not arriving in time to hear he was the new member so she just looked him over and shrugged before trying to work out what the conservation was about. It probably wouldn't take too long to find out who he was.

Grant smiled brightly when Lydia opened the door to find him patiently waiting for the appropriate time to knock. It was fortuitous, as it saved him the risk of being too early or too late, and her assurance that he was right on time made him quickly forget he had been worried in the first place.

He offered her the cookies, following her inside as directed.

Chuckling at the kiss and the introduction, he nodded his head. First one there, hm? That wasn't surprising. For some reason, he always ended up getting places first, and waiting for the proper time to enter. He smiled at Quinn as she came over to him.

"You both look beautiful tonight!" He said, "though I'm sure you do every night. I know Lydia does, and it makes sense, seeing you." He was not trying to flirt, just saying what he felt had to be true, "Oh! I brought cookies for you, or for the party. Uhm. They're not home made."

He didn't lose his smile, though as other people started to arrive he had to do a bit of quick mental calibrating to get their names and faces registered.

At Lydia's pat, he followed his cue, nodding his head to each one in turn to make sure he had their names right. "Hello Raven, Jett, Tova. And that's right, I'm part of this court now. My name is Virtus when I'm uhm. Dressed up. But I've only done it once!" He was not aware that he probably needed to be a little more careful with how he spoke of that, though he at least was aware not to mention it to people outside of their group. He heard Lydia say to Tova something about being out of fuku, and she had told him the party was for members of their team.

He thought it proper to introduce himself fully.

He smiled at Kestrel and Veer as they came in. So far he didn't feel too weird, but it was very hard to put him out of his comfort zone. He tended to take just about everything in stride. And they all seemed nice, which made him eager to know more about them all.

Quinn was stuffing her face hole with cookies and fudge when she looked up to see Veer and Kestrel walk in.

"Hey don't lie to her, I make no promises of not biting. I promised Lydia I wouldn't hit anyone, there was nothing about not biting in that discussion." She flashed the two of them a cheeky grin before shoving a rice crispy treat in her mouth and washing it back with a few long gulps of her drink.

Quinn pointed at Veer and glared at Lydia. "Why does he get to wear jeans and a t-shirt and I was asked to change? Not fair!" She leaned in and kissed Raven on the cheek to thank her for her delicious treats that she would definitely be indulging in all night. She was starting to get awfully friendly thanks to her old pals Captain Morgan and Disaronno.

She managed to scramble up to her feet and she teetered over to Veer, poking at the newspaper wrapped packaged in his hands. "What's that?" Obviously, she didn't mean the Vodka. She definitely knew what Vodka was. She looked up at him, cheeks flushed from her few drinks and her eyes wide with curiosity- stupid boy was still taller than her even in her stupid high heels.

Jett’s lips pursed just slightly as he considered Lydia’s words. A new member to the DMC? All right. He could handle that. Lydia was smart enough not to bring some stranger to a party and compromise all of their identities, though even though Grant was a new addition to their ‘family’ it didn’t mean Jett was going to immediately start trusting him. He didn’t look like he would be Lydia’s type, but who was Jett to decide? Hell, you couldn’t judge a book by it’s cover; maybe Grant was some hardcore badass that had up and stolen Lydia’s heart.

...Except, once he opened his mouth, Jett seriously doubted it.

Whatever the case was, he cast the two one last glance and nodded before allowing his eyes to drift to Veer and Kestrel. Veer he knew—and mostly ignored—but Kestrel was another one that he didn’t recognize, though no one had mentioned anything about her being new. He dropped the bottle of wine off on the counter without saying anything of it; he had learned that the group liked alcohol, though it wasn’t his fault if they were uncultured and didn’t appreciate a good wine.

He flopped down in a seat, just watching the group. He let Raven snuggle up with them on the couch, not feeling too awful about parting with her. He was only a few short feet away from Kestrel and, curious about who she was, he held out a hand and introduced himself. “Jett. Didn’t see you the last time there was a get together here. Which makes you…?” he prompted, fishing for a name.

Veer drew to a halt as Quinn approached, both of his eyebrows raised -- and, well, he looked briefly poleaxed. Sure, when she was powered up, she wore a skirt; that wasn't really something new. But that was because she didn't have a choice, and was paired with badass boots, camo. That was in uniform and, arguably, was off limits. Now, though, she --

"You look like a girl." It came out dry, probably not complimentary, and touched with suspicion. It was hard for Veer to blend this Quinn with the other. Not that he minded, not really; she looked good, in stark contrast to him. His jacket hung open, now, and the symbol blazoned across his chest was clear: Super Muslim, just in case any of them had forgotten that he didn't even ******** celebrate Christmas.

He set the vodka down on the entry table, and shoved the newspaper wrapped packages into her hands. There were three of them, two definitely jewelry-box-shaped, and the third...well. She'd recognize the shape of the third immediately.

Among the other gifts, he'd wrapped up a can of cat food to give to her.

"Merry Christmahannukwanzadan."

Quinn stared at Veer, mouth gaping open slightly. Seriously? You look like a girl? That's it? She sucked in a deep breath and counted to ten in her head, then put on the biggest, fakest smile she could muster up.

No hitting. Promised Lydia. Will. Not. Hit him.

"You did your hair," she replied dryly. "How fancy."

She eyed his t-shirt for a moment before looking back up to meet his eyes when he shoved the newspaper-wrapped packages into her hands. She narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously before looking down to the 3 individual packages in her hands. She would stand there in front of him and open all three.

She knew exactly what the first was- a can of cat food. "How cute, and totally unexpected," she muttered, shoving the can under her armpit to move on to the other two. She unwrapped them one by one, not opening their boxes until both were free of the newspaper. Jewelry boxes? There was no way that Veer would buy her jewelry.... Would he?

She peered back up at him for a second before opening the two boxes, and then she stared down at them in silence for what seemed like forever.

Pale, freckled cheeks flushed gently at Grant's compliment, and she passed him a covert little smile as she took the cookies he'd brought and set them out on the counter for everyone to nibble at. When her hands were free again she reclaimed her place at the young man's side, hands curling loose around his arm, and did her best to pay attention to all their guests.

It was made a little difficult by Quinn's dramatic point across the room at Veer and the demand to know why it was he was in jeans and she was not. "Because you're a wonderful, caring roommate and friend, and Veers an oblivious pain in the a**." Her voice was even, her smile was devilish.

Jett had wandered off to introduce himself to Kestrel, Raven was still indulging in the confectiary array she'd brought for them all, Tova was mixing herself a drink, and Quinn was opening presents from Veer. Lydia rolled her eyes at the cat, but the ghost of a smile remained on painted lips as she watched. Something was between those two. She wasn't sure what yet, but there was something.

It seemed as though everyone was this far having a good time, and Lydia let out a little sigh of relief, leaning in against Grant's side as she watched her new family visiting with each other. She's wanted to get to whole of their court together for a bit of bounding, solidarity, but if she were truly honest with herself their had been a much more selfish reason behind it, and no one save Quinn and possibly Pascal could appreciate it.

"Seems to be going alright so far, don't you think?" She gave Grant's arm a little squeeze, glancing up at him.

Suicide rates skyrocket at Christmas? Pascal wouldn't be shocked to hear it had been confirmed from more than just a myth on the rumor mill. The young man had a cozy night all planned out that involved watching Big Bang Theory for 30 minutes, and then studying for the rest of it. He was up to his balls in blueprints for the newest model of his mini robot, devised to clean Veer's apartment in secret. Argh, the filth. Needless to say, blueprints wasn't the only thing the man was balls deep in and frankly he didn't dare question what Veer left around his apartment.

Unfortunately for Pascal, his plans didn't pan out quite the way he'd hoped. Veer had decided to go out to the party and somewhere along the way Pascal had been convinced to go as well. Perhaps he didn't want to become outdone by Veer of all people or perhaps it was because he heard something make a noise from under a pile from down the hall. Whatever situation it was, Pascal left in quite a hurry. He dressed up nicer than Veer had, but he also had his nose in a book from the moment he'd entered the housing unit.

Pascal wasn't exactly a party kind of guy, but he came, and as far as he was concerned that counted as partying.

Kestrel watched as Jett left the new boy's company and headed towards her. She smiled but didn't say anything, not till he did. As he held out his hand she took it and smiled.

"Kestrel or Thule, and your otherwise known as?" She might as well ask right? At least she was talking to someone in the group, even if it was the one she had already spoken to and been taught by!

She looked up as Pascal walked in and just smiled as he seemed to just sit down with a book. That was one way to party... not normally the way most would but each to their own. Looking at Jett again though she smiled,

"Oh and I was here last time, just turned up really late and everyone was pretty drunk by that point!" She thought that was worth pointing out too!

No, Veer wasn't generally the jewelry-giving type -- but that was mostly because he wasn't the girl-getting type, and most guys didn't really appreciate a nice necklace or pair of earrings as a gift. Quinn's stunned look left him a bit uncomfortable, shifting where he stood, hands shoved into his pockets and all the joking gone out of him, for the moment. He looked away, up and around the room, and then recovered, snorting.

"I told a girl in my guild, you know, 'cat stuff', and she found these on that whatever site --" He paused, for just a moment, as Pascal walked by, kicking out to catch him in the shin. Not hard, just enough to jostle him, to not-quite-trip him, a reminder that he was there, and it brought the grin back easier to his face as he looked back down to Quinn. "I thought you'd appreciate it."

Kestrel was a name he didn’t recognize, though Thule was one he was most certainly familiar with. He shook her hand and introduced, “Jett. But you already know me as Remarque. I missed you at the last one,” he said with a little shrug as he dropped her hand. “I only stayed for a bit. You look good,” he complimented, gesturing towards her attire before he leaned back in his chair.

“You settling in all right with everything?” he prompted as he surveyed the group. His eyes drifted to Raven instinctively, as if it were by habit he was checking up on her. He did not necessarily ignore the group, merely surveyed them as they entered. There was a certain tone of festivity that he lacked, though there were enough people in the room that he assumed they could make up for it.

While not familiar with Pascal, he at least knew Veer--and was amused with the male from across the room. That he'd given Pascal a playful kick was fun and all, but he was more so enjoying watching the male interact with Quinn. There was an obvious sort of satisfaction on Jett's face for the brief moment Veer looked uncomfortable, though he let the male be in favor of not ruining whatever moment he and Quinn were having.
