Tumblepaw gasped. The three clans work together? That had never happened before! Or at least, that's what Thunderleap had told him.

Silverstar sighed as the cats started muttering in surprise amongst themselves.
"I admitt that the three clans working together has never happened before," he admitted. "But we must do what it takes to save our clans. It would be better to work together than fight amongst ourselves."

"It is not what we usally do, but, this are not usaul times. My clan will join you." Sunstar was a bit stunned, but she reppressed her emotions. "I suggest we explore the area around our territory's for prey. Perhaps we can find the reason for the shortage in the mean time." Sunstar wished they didn't have to, but these were desparete times.

"Whitestar?" he asked. "Are you with us?"

Whitestar hesitated. She thought for a moment then swallowed. "Yes," she replied finally, "TigerClan is with you."

Silverstar sighed with relief before turning to adress all three clans.
"I know this is going to sound crazy, but I suggest that we lower our borders if only for a day or two," he told them. Shocked gasps met his suggestion. "Now hear me out," he called over the noise. "We can't waste patrols on borders. If we were to have fewer border patrols, we can focus more on hunting prey and finding out why there's so little."

Blackstripe blinked up at his sister in surprise. TigerClan teaming up with LionClan and LeopardClan? He had his doubts. How did they know that it wasn't one of the other two clans stealing their prey and pretending that their prey was being stolen as well? He wouldn't put it past LeopardClan, since they lived near the river.

Thunderleap stood up and faced the leaders. "So how would we do this exactly?" he asked Silverstar, "Just let warriors walk around as much as they please?"
Shadowstep sneered at Thunderleap. He never did like that warrior. Why was he deputy? He didn't get it.

Silverstar shook his head.
"If we were to let our warriors do as they please, if anything that would make the problem worse," he told Thunderleap. "Instead of border patrols, we need patrols to find out what is causing all of this. I suggest we send two warriors from each of our clan each day to the fourtrees to patrol all of the areas to find any clue to the cause of all of this. This way, with each clan in the patrol, none of us can be accused of stealing or spying."

Saborclaw nodded at Silverstar's suggestion. It made sense.
"So, it's a patrol of all three clans, trying to find out where all of our food is going?" he asked Silverstar, just to clarify.

Riverstrike looked up at her leader proudly. He was a lot smarter than others! Handsome, too. She blushed and turned her head away.

Since neither of the two other leaders said anything, Silverstar decided that they couldn't think of anything else.
"Tommorrow morning then, send two warriors to Four Trees and they will patrol the areas and look for clues to our missing prey," Silverstar announced. "Are we all agreed?" As the cats around him nodded, he dipped his head. "We'll start in the morning then. Until then, let's try to make the best of our situation."
He leaped down from Highrock and gathered his warriors around him.

"I wonder what Silverstar is thinking?" Sunfur whispered to Riverstrike as they followed their leader. "It's so strange that he would be willing to team up with the other two clans so easily."
