Garethon nodded. That was the answer he had expected, and it told him Jett wasn’t settling down. People who wanted benefits were people who wanted to make a comfortable career, start a family and keep with the same company for a long time. People who chose money were go getters, they wanted a lot out of life and were perfectly willing to change companies at the drop of a hat if required.
Garethon had chosen money over benefits when he had the chance.
Where this left him on Jetts employment, he wasn't sure. He liked the idea of employing Jett short term, just for the fun of it really, but he also wanted a long term employee he could hire out of the internship. For that, he really wanted a motivated, mindless and well scrupled idiot he could easily exploit. But he could possibly get the best of both worlds, put Jett in his internship somewhere in Garethon’s department and pick someone else as his assistant. He’d have to think on it.
He stood up.
"Well Mr. Draven I think that’s all we need today. We’ll call you back within the next five business days to let you know of our decision."
He extended his hand to the boy.

Jett followed cue and stood up, extending his hand as well. He took Garethon’s and gave it a firm shake, though wasn’t shy to flash a charming smile. “Well, then, I do hope to hear from you soon, Mr. Lafeu. I don’t suppose Millie will let you off easily if she has to hear about how awful you were to me today. I’m sure you’d hate to upset her so close to the holidays.”
It was a risk, just assuming that Garethon was Millicent’s father. They didn’t look much alike, but—hadn’t Millie said her father worked for a big company and was always busy?
In many ways, Jett was a gambler. He gambled in stocks all the time, so why shouldn’t he gamble with work?
Still wearing his small, quirked smile, he withdrew his hand from Garethon’s and seemed rather chipper. “But. Best of luck to you with your other applicants, Sir.”

Garethon was taken aback for a fraction of a second, he wasn't used to having Millicent brought up here.
This kid must have really done his research, but it was a stretch to think that he could turn Garethon’s daughter against him. Millicent loved her father, and a random kid wasn’t going to upset that relationship.
Still, it had been a bold move, and now Garethon was curious to see how this kid progressed. If the kid had the right attitude, he could be a useful ally as Garethon made is way up the ladder.
"Don’t call us, we'll call you."
Several days later, Jett would get a call offering him an internship.
