"Shoot!" Ed turned away from the stinging grit and dashed back to the door, slamming it shut. The little snots had been playing him! Hopefully he'd caught at least one of the pokemon, though he suspected the owner had probably escaped the second he moved away from the door. Vulpix and Archen were popular enough types, if he could take them in they should be able to re-home them with a nice, non-criminal trainer. Blinking the grit out of his eyes, Ed looked around, trying to spot movement.

Doyle finally stopped near the fence where he had broken in. He rested for a moment to catch his breath and wait for his pokemon. It shouldn't take too long with Ark leading.

Ark was about to run through the door but noticed that Archie wasn't there. Go figure that he would ruin the plan! She paused for only a moment before darting out. It was then that the door was slammed shut. She would go catch up to Doyle and they would find a way to 'rescue' Archie.

Archie wasn't as fast as Ark or Ed. By the time he reached the door it had been shut. He took several steps back and began looking around. There had to be another way out! He spotted some windows high up and began climbing the containers. He would bust out that way! He didn't even consider the fact that he couldn't fly and thus would fall down to the ground.

Oh, what was that silly bird up to? Was it actually going for the window? But Archens were flightless! "Hey bird! Hey boy, you can't get out that way, you can't fly!" Ed called, chasing after the silly creature, clambering up the containers. He didn't want it to hurt itself! "Hey boy, come get a treat and I'll take you home!" He coaxed.

Archie was steadily climbing up the containers. He then heard the man yelling behind him and paused to look back. The crazy human was following him! He squawked loudly and began to climb faster. Once up high enough he turned and opened his mouth. A purple colored glow appeared and soon a purple colored shock wave was shot out with a loud 'Chen'. The Dragon Pulse would hopefully slow the human down so he could reach a window.

Outside........
Ark reached Doyle finally and paused slightly. She then grabbed his pant's leg and began to pull. "Ruuuu." She cried faintly. She still had the Vulpix disguise on.

Doyle was a little surprised to see just one of his Pokemon come back. Apparently Archie didn't make it. "Alright alright. We'll go back but I don't know how we'll get him out. We can go back in." He then began jogging back towards the building with Ark following after.

Ed ducked behind a crate to avoid the attack, unbalancing and landing on his butt with an undignified squawk. Grumbling, Ed clambered back to his feet and resumed his climb. "Come here, birdie," he called, sparing a moment to dig out another treat. He lobbed it carefully to land next to the fleeing bird. "Look boy, a treat! Num-num! I have lots of treats for you!" he tried coaxing.

Archie was hurriedly began climbing the crates again while Ed avoided the attack. He didn't get much of a head start but it was enough that he felt comfortable using an attack to break a nearby window when he reached it. His wings began to glow silverish giving them a steely look. He moved them back and then flapped them forward sending the silver colored attack at the window. His Steel Wing hit successfully and the window broke sending glass down to the ground outside.

Looking back when the man spoke he ruffled his feathers. He kicked the treat back at the man (hopefully it would hit) and squawked at him. He then turned back to the window and began flapping his useless wings. He was soon running towards it prepared to jump out and fall.

It didn't take long for Doyle and Ark to reach the building. Doyle was wondering how to get Archie back when he heard the breaking of glass. He ran to the side and heard Archie and soon saw the beak appear. Apparently Archie was going to jump. "Crap." He whispered rushing to get under the window so he could try to catch Archie. Ark stood out of the way but was ready to jump in if needed or to attack any guards that may show up.

"I need to go shopping for a new puppy!" Ed snarled, dodging the flying treat and clambering after the confused bird. The pause as the bird attacked and broke the window gave him just enough time to close in on the bird, getting within grabbing distance. "I'm getting to old for this!" Ed complained, throwing himself after the bird, arm outstretched as he tried to grab it before it flew, or rather fell, out the window just in front of it.

Archie was reaching the window and his head had just popped out. He was about to spring away when he felt hands grab him. He squawked loudly but was pulled back in. Turning to face the officer he glared for a moment. Finally having enough he began to Thrash, attacking every which way with anything he could use. "CHEN!!!"

Doyle saw Archie's head poked out and was about to call out but then the head disappeared. Apparently he got caught. This bird was turning out to be more trouble than he was worth.... and desperately needed lessons in stealing.

Ark saw Archie for a brief moment before he was pulled back in. She looked up at Doyle and then to the front of the building. She was asking if she should go in and help. She saw Doyle shake his head. Turning her head she looked back up at the window. Hopefully Archie would find a way to get out.

((Hey Nanashi, just wondering but if Ed does catch Archie do you want to do the homing idea? Doyle would just go into the station as his regular self and get him back but Ed would never know. He would just think that Doyle is just a nice traveler who is looking for a pokemon.))

((Sure, that sounds like fun, if you like the idea! Let's go for it!))

Ed held on tightly to the thrashing bird. With a great deal of difficulty, he managed to get it pinned against his body, and wrapped one hand around its beak. "Shhh, shhh boy. I'm not gonna hurt you. I just don't want you to hurt yourself going out the window," Ed soothed. He could feel a number of bruises starting to make themselves known, but he had at least caught one of the pokemon.

After all this racket, he knew the trainer and vulpix would probably be long gone. He'd head to the station and get it a kennel for the night. They had a few special pokeballs that were capable of locking onto pokemon that had already been captured and removing the special pokeball affinity that kept owned pokemon from being captured by other pokeballs. Then he'd get the bird a new normal ball, see if he could get it looked over by Nurse Joy, and see about re-homing it. The bird deserved better than a criminal owner. He'd keep it himself, but he strongly suspected the bird would never really forgive him for catching it.

Archie Thrashed some more but with the tight grip Ed had on him it didn't do much good. When he was all done thrashing about he hung limply in the man's arms. His head sorta swayed from side to side as the bird became confused.

Doyle waited a minute longer and then shook his head. He moved into the shadows near the front but still on the side of the building. He'd stay for a moment longer just to see what the officer was going to do with his bird. He'd find some way to get Archie back. After all if he didn't have the bird when he next met Alexa he'd be in worlds of 'trouble'. Ark followed after Doyle and would most likely trail the officer in her true form. She'd then be able to report back to Doyle about where Archie was.

((Alright let's get this show on the road!))

Realizing the bird was confused and temporarily docile, Ed quickly removed his belt, the one that held his pants up, not the toolbelt with his flashlight, nightstick, and other items, and fastened it around the Archen's body, pinning its wings to its sides. Then he tucked the bird back under his arm and headed back for the station. He kept a sharp eye out, but didn't see the vulpix, or any suspicious looking possible trainers.

((Edit: OMG, I won a Zorua for Ed! I'm going to introduce her in one of my next few posts, if you don't mind. Ed was just thinking he needed a new puppy!))

Archie tried to fight being bound by the belt by snapping at the human. In his confusion he snapped at the air no where near where Ed was. Finally his wings were pinned to his sides and tucked under Ed's arm. So he had no choice in where they went and ended up at the police station some time later.

Ark's form shimmered as she dropped the illusion. Soon the officer came walking out with Archie tucked under his arm. She waited until he went a good distance and began following them. She used her agility and faint attack attacks if it seemed like the officer was going to turn around to look back. She was very good at sneaking around and trailing someone.

Doyle waited a few minutes after Ark left and went back to the fence. He cut the fence to get through and went to hide in the nearby abandon buildings. Ark would be able to find him there as it had been their stake out spot when they first took on this job.

((Okay then! I just gotta warn you that Archie is going to evolve when they get to the station. I'm chalking it up to the stress of the whole ordeal. XP))

((Okay! I'll break this up then, to give him a chance to evolve.))
Ed wandered into the station, Archen clamped firmly under his arm. “Hey Eddy! Y’know, they make pokeballs for that!” one of the other officers razzed him.

“Aw, shut it Bobby!” Ed tossed back. “Confiscated him from a thief. Jerk ran and left both his pokemon to take the heat. The vulpix got away, but this little guy was just a hair too slow. I figure we can rehome him, give him a better chance in life.”

“Sure, take him in back, we’ll get the old ball’s registration voided. Hey, speaking of rehoming, we got a pup for you if you’re interested,” Robert said. “She’s a beaut, we got her from a puppy mill that got closed down for a string of violations as long as your arm. We kept the pups long enough to get them all some basic obedience training, and she was so clever we gave her the full K9 package. Most of the pups have gone to civilians, but I think this girl will do great with you.”

“Huh. What species?” Ed asked.

“Zorua. Come on, let’s get that other one locked up then we can take a look at the pup.”

Ed followed Rob to the back, and waited while Rob added food and water to the dishes in one of the large wall kennels. They weren't large enough for long term occupancy, but they weren't meant to be. They were for overnight holding, and easy recapture in the morning. Ed double checked that both doors to the room were closed and latched, so the Archen wouldn't be able to escape, then took the belt off in preparation for shoving the bird in the cage.

Ark kept to the shadows and successfully trailed the officer. Her eyes narrowed as she saw him walk inside taking Archie with him. She went under an open window and listened. She heard the officer talk to another and found out that they planned to rehome Archie. She would certainly love that but she knew it would never happen. Instead she slunk into the night heading to the stake out spot. There she would some how convey to Doyle what was going on.

Archie was finally not confused when they reached the station. His eyes were narrowed and he tensed up as they neared the cage. Once the belt was off he squawked and began flapping his wings. No way he was going in that cage! Soon he began to glow as he fought. Suddenly he stopped feeling quite odd.

"Aw, bird, come on!" Ed said tiredly. His ribs were smarting from where he'd already taken a few good hits, and all he wanted to do was take a look at the pup Robert told him about, get some coffee, and do his paperwork. Then the bird started glowing.

"Shoot, he's evolving!" Ed yelped, backing up to give it some room. Robert looked over and cussed. As if they needed it stronger!
