xxxxxSoren's eyes widened at the statement the mare begin to say. Immediately upon her finishing, he burst into laughter. She was quite an amusing mare to be around. Obviously, she had a sort of resentment against them. He could understand why. She seemed to be too proud of herself to let any of them near her, with their stupid paints and brands. They would ruin her coat! He rolled his eyes with a smile and looked at her with amused eyes. Two-legs were not all terrible. In fact, he had heard numerous stories about them being quite helpful. For some horses, they were caretakers that would groom them, feed them and love them. It just... wasn't for him. It wasn't for many horses who had grown to love their own freedom so much. Though it may not have been what they intended, two-legs took the freedom of many Soquili. They made them work and do many unnatural things that were against everything he knew.
xxxxxHis ears pricked forward in surprise as she spoke next. Perfection? "You are perfect, Kintori." He chuckled, realizing a second too late that she already knew that. But he was glad she did. She was too perfect, it seemed. Had she nothing to flaw her in his eyes? Soren truly doubted it. He doubted the gorgeous mare was a grandmother - she looked to be his age! But it could happen, he supposed. If she had her own baskets when she was young, it would make sense. And yet, he couldn't help but think it just made her more interesting. Her tail flicked against his hindquarters, taking him by surprise. He grinned and stared down at her, catching onto her little hint. She would stick around with him if they had baskets. She would be his. "My plans for the future change all the time. But... lately, I have been set on staying in one place and, eventually, having baskets. I'd love to be able to see my children grow up. And then after all that, I just want to grow old with you." Why bother to hide his true intentions? He smirked and pressed into her as he moved, hoping he wasn't being too forward. "So what would you like to do with the rest of the day? We have forever. What are your favorite things to do when everything is perfect?" He smirked down at her, ready to do whatever she suggest.

xxxxxOnce the words were out of his mouth, Kintori's eyes widened considerably, happily. It's not that she wasn't used to others complimenting her - which she most definitely was - it was how different the words sounded coming from him. They were spoken simply, purely, and completely without any intent other than stating what he seemed to believe was fact. This realization elated Tori, and she showed this through vivid smiles as she twined her tail around his. This moment, being with him, was unbelievable to her. It seemed impossible that she'd come so far in only a matter of days. Kintori's eyes glinted about, sparkling, taking in her surroundings. The leafy greens and dark, knotted browns of the trees looked simply perfect beneath the brilliant sunlight. The mare smiled wider, realizing how great it all seemed - how the weather seemed tailor-made for the pair of them. She then pressed her nose into his neck for a quick moment, breathing in his scent. Everything was perfect.
xxxxxEverything including Soren, of course. His continued speech only succeeded in making Kintori's smile larger. "So what's that mean for us, Soren? Are we, ah..." A slight shyness quickly overcame her, and she blushed a bit. Realizing her eyes were downcast, she fluttered them back open to look at his golden eyes. "Mates?" Kintori laughed nervously, albeit knowing full-well what his answer was to be. They obviously felt too strongly towards one another for it to be anything other than a very sure "yes." She grinned when he mentioned again the word "perfect" - it was, of course, a favored word of hers, and sounded best when coming out of his mouth. "I love water. Have you seen any rivers or lakes we could try out?" Truth be told, she'd never swum before. But now was as good as ever to try, right? Although she preferred to keep her coat in perfect condition, she knew Soren wouldn't mind if she got soaked. Especially if she made sure he was worse off than she was. 'Everything is better with a little competition,' she thought with a smirk.

xxxxxIt was surprising to the stallion that he could practically feel happiness radiating off of the beautiful mare. If she was happy, he was happy. And boy, did he have reason to be absolutely elated. Nothing was better than feeling at peace with the world. Being content with everything and one hundred percent happy. It was quite uncommon, but there he was. Next to a beautiful mare that he was positive he loved. Her voice kept him grounded to reality in ever sense of the way. His mind was one that was often lost in fantastic daydreams. His ears tilted slightly toward her, listening. And as she spoke, he faltered in step. Were they mates? He was ready to have a mate. He was ready to be in love, and he could tell he was falling pretty hard. But a mate? Soren shut his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath as to clear his head. Mates. Commitment. Being there for her for the rest of their lives.
xxxxxSoren lifted his head and angled himself so he could look at her. "If you will have me, I would love to be your mate, Kintori." He pressed his muzzle to her cheek in a loving gesture, every bit of him tingling with excitement. He pulled away and cocked his head as she spoke again. Water. He did know of a river nearby. It was fast when the water was high, but was probably easy enough to manage now. And on the beautiful day, it would be perfect. "Of course I have! Though I never would have pegged you for being a swimmer." He smirked at her, poking fun at the way that she adored her coat. It was only a few minutes from where they were if the pair ran. He halted, a playful smile creeping onto his maw. "Race you there?" Without waiting for a reply, he took off in the direction of the river, following the easiest path for her sake. What was life without a little fun and competition?

xxxxxWhen Soren's steps faltered, Kintori fought to hold back a snort. One great thing about this new stallion was how playful he was. It wasn't until he spoke that Kintori realized that he'd stumbled because of her words. Then, she found herself stressing for a few quick moments over what this reaction meant - was he shocked at her question? She was merely wishing to clarify what their new relationship was defined as, and now regretting ever asking. What if she scared him away? All her fears, however, were put to rest as soon as he responded. Kintori's face flushed red as he pressed his muzzle to her cheek and she thought of what this meant. A mate - forever. In retrospect, the idea seemed kind of daunting. But Kintori knew she was ready for this. With Helberd, they'd had a physical attraction - her love of golden, shiny, pretty objects had led her to him and it wasn't actually love. With Soren, however, it was much different. She could feel that clearly within her she yearned to be with him eternally.
xxxxxAs Soren spoke again, Kintori was about to formulate a response. He was right to jest at her - she was overprotective of her coat and mane and normally would never consider dipping even her hoof in possibly contaminated water. But as Kintori found, everything with Soren was different. She was free to be silly and childish and serious and loving; all things she normally shied away from. As soon as he took off, she laughed out a loud "Hey! Unfair!" before galloping after his raised tail. Kintori raced after him fiercely, knowing he was probably more powerful than him, but she had the slight advantage of her smaller stature to help her out. As she strode after him, she concentrated on gaining on him and managed to finally get close enough to shout back, "Cheating on me after we've just become mates?" She huffed, her breath failing her enough that she couldn't continue poking fun at him, and decided to leave it at that, with a grin.

xxxxxThere was something about running that set all of Soren's senses on fire. Something about the pounding in his legs and the wind wrapping around the feathers of his wings. It was strange, what happened when one ran. All of the things the mind had to do in mere milliseconds to keep one going. Things most horses would not even think of. The brain had to process which muscles to prepare for impact and if they were to increase or decrease speed. The mind unconsciously helped one weave out of the way of foliage and trees or any other sort of blockage. It kept thoughts from wandering, because there truly was nothing else to think of. The stallion's legs pounded the ground, his heart racing faster than it should have been. Possibly because of the beautiful mare that was hot on his heels. His ears perked and he listened to her intently. Without even realizing it, he switched leads to fall back more closely to the fast little mare.
xxxxx"Me? Cheat? Never! What kind of stallion do you take me for, Tori? I treat my mate wonderfully!" He rolled his eyes and shoved her with his nose playfully, ever so careful about where he placed his galloping hooves. It was not long before the river came into view. A vast expanse of water tumbling swiftly in front of them. It was hardly dangerous, but it was very lovely. He slowed himself into a canter, his golden eyes dancing with mischievous thoughts. Soren cantered straight in, not even thinking about what he was doing. The cool water hit him faster than expected and his eyes opened to sizes he was sure were proportionate to the moon. He slammed on the brakes as the water filtered around his stomach, rearing slightly and splashing all over the place. "It. is. perfect." The stallion could not help but grin and paw at the water, a childish gesture, but one that meant he wanted to have fun.

xxxxxKintori found herself glad when Soren slowed his gallop slightly to stride alongside her. She was already feeling winded; not only was she not one to exercise her freedom to move faster than canter, but she had actually galloped most of the way back to Soren. The days she'd spent in search of their meeting place had utterly exhausted her, and she could already feel the tire aching deep within her muscles. "You treat me well enough, I suppose," Kintori breathed out with a laugh. His sweet, playful attitude was something she absolutely could not get enough of. Although he was a full-grown stallion, on occasion the foal within him would make an appearance in his mannerisms and actions, and Kintori found it nothing less than endearing. When he slowed to a canter, she gleefully matched her pace to his, relieved that the river was almost beneath their hooves.
xxxxxWhile Soren strode in confidently, without another thought, Kintori immediately stopped, lurching forward and stumbling a bit before the river. "Oh," she murmured, staring at the water, tail thrashing about. "I'm not so sure about this anymore, Soren." She'd wished to show him how fun and carefree she was; to disprove any thoughts he'd had about how uptight she may be about her appearance. However, actually staring at the river, she wasn't so sure she could do it. When she looked up at him splashing about, Kintori smiled. He was excited and just wished to paw about in the water. Taking a deep breath, Kintori strode forward slowly, easing her way into the water, her face contorted as if in immense pain. "Oh..." It wasn't hard to feel the mud swirling around her hooves, and it did nothing to comfort Tori. Once fully in, she simply stood there, eyes shut tight for fear of catching a slight glimpse of her sodden self in the water's swirling surface. After a few more deep breaths, she looked over at him questioningly, searching for approval.

xxxxxSoren had been nothing but happy splashing about in the water, feeling it swirl around him and pull his mane and tail along with the current. Until, of course, he saw Kintori's pained expression as she stepped into the water. Worry immediately flooded into his mind and he took a step closer to her, not wanting to say anything to discourage her. "It's not bad, Kintori. A little river water couldn't do anything to make you less beautiful!" He was half-joking as he said it, encouraging her and letting her know that he understood her qualms about getting in. Slowly, but surely, the beautiful mare poked her way into the water. Only once she got to about where he was did she stop and close her eyes. Was she ok?! Soren walked over the the mare, doing all he could to keep his balance in the water. He looked into her eyes as she opened them and couldn't help but smile. She really was perfect. He placed his nose to hers and could hardly hide his happiness. "I'm proud of you."
xxxxxHe pulled away from her again and looked down into the water. The best way for him to get over things was normally to just get used to it. In a split second, Soren lashed out at the water with his front legs and splashed a good amount into Kintori's general direction. He stood his ground, waiting for any sort of reaction, then realized that that probably was not the brightest of ideas. He managed to get a few feet away before twirling to look at her, a playful expression plastered onto his face. "You know, it does seem like it's a good day to get absolutely drenched." Soren could not think of a time when he had been happier than he was at that moment. Sometimes, everything was just perfect. Like right now. It was amazing how fast things could change. A few weeks ago, Soren had been alone. And now he had a mate who was nothing but perfect.

xxxxxStaring into his eyes, Kintori grinned, nuzzling his nose. It was refreshing and incredible to get to spend time with Soren knowing she wouldn't have to slip out the next day. Knowing that every day could be like this was an amazing thought to her, and she loved it. Before she could respond to his remark, he was backing away and flailing in the water, splashing her with his hooves. "Hey!" She squealed, eyes shut tight and backed up blindly, feeling heavy drops of water lands on her face and weigh down her mane. "This isn't fair!" Kintori shrieked, giggling uncontrollably. Despite herself, she was actually having a good time. It took all of her brain to focus on Soren and having fun rather than concentrating on the moisture settling into her golden mane.
xxxxxShe laughed, shaking her head at him, allowing her eyes to open. "And I do believe you are deranged, Soren, if ever it seems like a good day to get sodden to you." Her giggled rang through the air, mixing with the sounds of nature just before she drove her head into the water quickly, sinking her entire mane into the river before bringing it all back up in one quick, fluid motion. The result of this was a completely soaked Kintori and a major displacement of water in Soren's direction. Forelock plastered over her eyes, Kintori shook her sight free of the dripping hair. Disbelief filled Kintori; it was completely out of her character to purposefully set to destroying her appearance. Then again, she had taken the first step into the water; after that, why not start anew with her coat? It would dry in the sun anyway, and even if it matted a bit, she was sure Soren wouldn't mind. If Soren didn't care, why should she?

xxxxxThe joy of the moment had captivated Soren, yet all he could think about was Kintori. He could tell already that this would be quite normal now. He wasn't going to think about much else. And he was perfectly alright with that. He chuckled as she shrieked, unable to contain himself. "It is so fair!" It was weird. Loving someone. He didn't know how he felt toward her exactly, but he loved her. That much was obvious. But how would he tell her? Should he wait? Should he just announce it? The stallion cocked his head, losing focus until her voice brought him back to the world. "But it is a great day to come to the water! Besides, you suggested it." He smirked and pawed at the water again, just enough to splash himself. He was hardly one to care how damp he was. He would dry off and all would be well.
xxxxxSurprise washed over him when she ducked her head under the water. As she brought it back up, water went flying toward him, splattering his face and neck. And all he could do was laugh. She was so surprising! He looked at her again, droopy wet forelock and messy fur and all, and he could not think of a time when she had looked more beautiful. She was fun and perfect. Soren puffed out his chest and stood with his head high, moving toward her slowly. He could already feel himself getting flustered, but he had to keep his composure. He stood directly in front of her and put his head down near hers, his ears flicked back in a comfortable position. "I love you, Kintori. You're beautiful." And it was true. The mare in front of him was absolutely stunning. Stunning, playful, perfect, surprising, funny... She was everything he had ever hoped to find and more.

xxxxxRolling her eyes, Kintori could do nothing but laugh. Soren was entirely right; she'd suggested the outing in an attempt to show that she could have a very fun, childish side, too. It wasn't much right of her to whine and complain about misfortune she'd brought upon herself. She watched him as he splashed himself, so gleeful to let free the colt within. Soren was such a happy stallion; that was one of the things she adored about him. He was one to live life to the fullest, and not dawdle, allowing things to consume his mind. In a way, he was her opposite; he was sweet and selfless, never allowing silly things to capture his attention for too long. Soren recognized what was important and what wasn't; Kintori knew all too well what it was like to be fooled into thinking something was more important than in was.
xxxxxWhen he slowly strode through the shallow mud toward her, Kintori could feel her large heart hammering within her. He seemed to be carrying something heavy with him, striding with the importance of a messenger. When he spoke, Kintori almost flinched. It was soon. Much too soon. She wished to be with him, but she could feel she wasn't ready to speak something like that to him. Afraid of hurting his feelings, she smiled and pressed her cheek to his, nuzzling him. Although she was aware that those sort of feelings were brewing within her, too, she didn't wish to rush things emotionally. She was up to labeling themselves as mates (then again, she always seemed to rush into that sort of thing), but admitting love to one another was a completely different story. She hoped he would understand.

xxxxxSoren couldn't help but sigh. He had realized that it was too soon the second he saw her expression. Kintori was in his heart. He did love her. But he didn't need to tell her with words. He could have waited for another time. Perhaps on a romantic outing to the beach or a beautiful morning after she just woke up. But not now. Now she knew! She knew he loved her. He grinned a bit at the thought. Kintori: the mare to stole his heart and ran with no intention of ever returning it. He pressed his cheek tight against her and looked at the water, his golden eyes lit with confusion. But how would he know if she really did - or really could - feel the same way? To him, it was impossible. Beautiful mares could not fall for awkward stallions. It just simply couldn't happen. But there she was and he thought... He thought there was a chance.
xxxxxThe stallion pawed at the water, distracting himself. Life was much like the waves in the river. It flowed and moved on around whatever was in its way. Nothing could keep it from flowing on. Of course, unless you considered evaporation. But that was a whole different matter. He picked his head up again and bopped his nose to Kintori's muzzle. "Let's go, Tori. You've proven how brave you are." He grinned as he poked fun at her and puffed the feathers on his wings out. He loved the water. But the wings. They were murder when they were wet. Soren's strong legs pushed him to shore, staying even on the slippery rocks and mud below. Overall, not a bad day. Sure, she didn't return his affections vocally. But she would. He would make her love him yet.
