The mindless zombies continued to drag themselves up the stone stairs -- it was a wonderful how they even managed such a thing. I guess the possibility of snacking on your favorite food could compel anyone to overcome anything. One by one the empty-headed abominations lurched upward, step after step, groaning and grumbling. This scene belonged in a horror movie, I'm telling you. Plushie gazed down as they approached, wondering what would best work against them. It seemed that, whatever it was, it had to be something direct and brutally instant... like having a giant marshmallow dropped on you. Hmm...

She pointed her scepter down toward the climbing ghouls,

"Slippery, slippery dock, the ice froze the block.
The hour struck eight, not one zombie could skate.
Slippery, slippery dock."

She chimed. Powder blue mist floated from the golden tip of her scepter, hovering lower and lower, covering each stone step as it descended. As the mist traveled lower and lower, in its wake, it left a sheet of solid ice. The zombies, each and every one of them, slipped and slid, tumbling back down the stairs. Plushie gave herself a little triumphant "woohoo" but it was made too soon. Though each and every zombie had taken a tumble, each and every zombie once more clambered to its feet, seemingly unharmed. Ugh! One by one they took to the iced stairs, slipping and sliding, but gradually making their way upward once more.

She could try reigning down marshmallows again, but she was far too close to the mass of mindless minions; there was a chance one would land on her, or even land in the fishing waters and drown them all! No, no more marshmallows. That attack had come and gone. She would just have to think of something else... and quick -- icy stairs wouldn't stop the zombies for long.

Plushie decided to put as much distance between her and the zombies as possible. She took off running to the opposite end of the fishing barrier -- oh crap, wrong way! There, right before her, were two very large water pipes -- much too large to climb over, and believe me, she tried. She jumped up and down, trying to get a grip on the metal so as to pull herself over. Her trying was done in vain; she just couldn't get over them. Turning to backtrack, she immediately stopped; several of the zombies had clambered to the top of the steps and had stepped onto the stone platform. Oh great! "Maybe if I stay still they won't see me..." Plushie thought to herself, pressing her back against one of the large pipes.

She held her breath, watching as majority of the zombies made their way onto the barrier, looking this way and that stupidly, their expressions blank. Several had remained on the ground, not lucky enough to have conquered the icy stairs. They merely lumbered this way and that, in no particular direction, groaning and grunting. Plushie eyed the zombies, not daring to move, hoping that they wouldn't see her, or else would just think she was part of the pipe.

"Uuunggggggg." The sound was horrible; it was loud, disgusting, and told her that one zombie had a brain a tiny bit larger than a peanut -- he had spotted her. The zombie began to lumber in her direction, the others following; the sheep were following the Shepard, even though the Shepard was a blithering idiot and had no idea what he was doing, let along that he was leading anyone else. Plushie tried in vain once more to climb over the large pipe, but once again she found she was unable to. If she had any hope of getting out of this pickle, defeating these zombies, and saving Christmas, she was going to have to come up with something and fight her way out.

Pointing her scepter towards the sky, she chanted, "Winter winds so fierce and cold, release your wrath, so swift and bold." The sky darkened at her words, the temperature dropping dramatically. Plushie gripped her scepter tightly and crouched down, pressing as snugly to the pipe as possible. Suddenly, fierce, frigid gusts blew from over the pipes, raging wildly. Gripping her crown, Plushie squeaked -- it was so cold! The winds picked up snow on the ground, turning the area into a little blizzard. Many of the zombies were blown over, one or two toppling down the icy steps.

The wind subsided after a few moments. Glancing up, her heart sank; majority of the zombies were still on the barrier! Most had gotten back to their feet already and were lurching onward, closer and closer to where she crouched. Standing up, Plushie groaned with frustration. Ugh! What was she going to do?? She had put herself in a horrible position. Maybe she could jump to the ground? No... she'd break her legs. Ugggh! Think, think, think...

Closer and closer the zombies trudged...

Oh what to do, what to do. Plushie knew that she wasn't in a position to do anything direct and dramatic, not without risking her own well-being in the process. What a pickle this was! The groaning zombies dragged themselves closer and closer, step by step. If only she could get to the other side of the fishing waters! She could run down the stairs and have a few minutes to gather her thoughts and plan her next course of action. Then it dawned on her... she could get to the other side of the fishing waters!

The realization had come almost too late, for at that exact moment the nearest zombie made a clumsy grab for her! Plushie yelped and dove off the barrier to the water! Without wasting a moment, she cried, "Hop-scotch, frozen blocks, ferry me from rock to rock!" A block of ice suddenly broke the surface, large enough for a grown man to comfortably stand on. Plushie landed on all fours on the ice, pressing her belly against it to keep from sliding right off. Block after block after block broke the surface before her, forming a little 'stepping-stone' path across the water.

It took her a moment, but she gradually managed to stand. "Oy, I did not quite think this one through..." She admitted to herself as she wobbled a bit. Hopping to the next block, she managed a rhythm, hopping from that one to another, then another, and another. Chancing a glance back, she saw a few zombies looking stupidly at her, a handful of them walking right off the edge in pursuit. Splash! Splash! Splash! Splash! Down they went... and never resurfaced. Whether that was because zombies are too dumb to know how to swim, or because the Durem fish had found themselves a snack... Plushie didn't know. Focusing on her task, she resumed her careful hopping, taking each block in turn until she found herself, at last, on the other end of the fishing barrier. Giving a triumphant yip for joy, she descended the stairs.

Well, it wasn't intended, but a few more zombies were now out of the way, and she had a bit of time to form another, hopefully more successful, plan!

Jumping off the second step from the bottom, she headed right towards the path that lead to Durem... the same path that Zero Omega had taken not too long ago. Her first instinct was to just use this 'breathing moment' to her advantage and just take off after Zero. When she thought more of it, however, she decided that she couldn't very well leave the zombies here; she had no idea what they would do if not stopped. They could wander into the towns and have an all out feast of brains! No, she would just have to stay until she had taken out each and every last zombie. Then, and only then, would she be free to pursue Zero Omega and, somehow, put a final stop to this 'destroy Christmas' plot of his.

Plushie rounded the stone steps, the one the zombies had been hidden under, and decided it would be best to check in there -- what else was Zero hiding beneath those stairs? The next thing could be an army of blob-creatures! She had to check, and if possible, take out whatever was in there. Though, if you're like me, you don't fancy the idea of opening a door that could house something scary. Plushie didn't fancy it, either. She tip-toed to the door and put her hand on the handle, taking a deep breath before yanking the door open wide!

AAAAAAAAH! Oh... wait... there was nothing in there. Her heart pounded against her ribs as she poked her head inside and peered around... nope, nothing. Plushie laughed, unable to stop herself; she had nearly screamed in fright and the space beneath the stone steps was completely empty. Suddenly something hit her from behind, and she was thrown forward into the semi-lit, hollow hideout. Landing on her front, her scepter sliding a few feet away, Plushie turned over to see Zero Omega in the doorway. I will say, for those of you wondering, he did not hit her; not even our Christmas-fiend was so deplorable as to hit a girl. He did push her, however -- that was the 'hit' she had felt, his hands connecting with her back.

"You're not going to interfere any longer. I'll let you out when Christmas has come and gone, without any presents, without any Santa." He said. Plushie moved as quick as she could to her feet and ran towards the door, forgetting her scepter, but it was too late. Zero stepped back and slammed it shut, concealing her in the darkness. Trying the handle did no good... the door wouldn't open. She guessed that he had barricaded it with something (and she was right; Zero had used one of the zombie's weapons). Plushie banged on the door, shouting out to the only intelligent person on the other side,

"Let me out! You can't do this! You can't take away Christmas! Let me out!"

Obviously she was not let out.

"Stay here. Eat her brains if she gets out." She heard Zero say, and heard a few groans in response, as if his words had been understood. Plushie turned and groped around in the dark, dropping to her knees and feeling along the ground for her scepter. It took her a few minutes, but her hand finally closed around the base. She pointed it towards the direction of the door and said,

"Fierce and strong, winds of light,
Open this door, in the name of right."

The entire 'room' filled with strong winds, blowing this way and that, gusting full-force against the door... but it did not open. Plushie was forced around in various directions, the winds easily moving her about as if she were a rag-doll. Once they had gone, she sighed and dropped down to the ground, sitting on her butt. Here she was, trapped in the dark, while Zero and his army were closer than ever to destroying Christmas... What now...?

Plushie sat in the dark, gazing around... or rather, she would have been, were she able to see. She had thought being trapped on the fishing barrier with the zombies had been a pickle; this was a pickle! No, no, this was a JAR of pickles! Ugh. The area beneath the stone stairs was chilled and hollow, but void of snow, which was nice. It would have been horrid having to sit on snow -- she'd have some homemade frozen buns! Resting her scepter in her lap, Plushie sighed, listening to the sound bounce off the surrounding enclosure.

"What a fix I've gotten myself into. I was doing so well and now look, I'm trapped in here while Zero is out there reigning down havoc on Christmas. What a perfect beast." She said to herself, thinking of all those remaining zombies lumbering around through Gaia, stealing more cookies and cakes, and perhaps even feasting on poor, unknowing citizen's brains. She shuddered. Plushie hummed and thrummed, thinking of some way to get out of there. Even if she did manage to get out, there must be several zombies lingering just outside the door. Hmm... hmm... hmmmmmmm....

Remembering that little light of hope that she had grasped not long ago, Plushie took a deep breath and got to her feet. Locking her in here would not stop her from saving Christmas, not by a long shot. Get ready, Zero Omega; if you want to ruin Christmas you'll need to try a lot harder. Gripping her scepter, she pointed it towards the door, her face determined. "Christmaaaas Eeeeve Silver-Bell Blast!" A sonic wave erupted from the end of her scepter; the sound was that of, what would have been in actuality, two gigantic bells ding-ding-dong'ing. The tune had been magnified ten fold and its vibrations were pulsated from the end of the scepter. The door exploded outward, ripped clear from its hinges, and taking chunks of stone with it.

Plushie was greeted by sunlight and fresh air, and she wasted no time in leaving her dark and depressing prison. Rushing out, she saw a few zombies sprawled on the ground -- the door had flown into them and knocked them over. They appeared to be unconscious. Woo! The remaining zombies began to lurch towards her, still hungry for her brains...

Glancing around, Plushie saw no sign of that fiend Zero Omega. He must have taken off somewhere after he had locked her in that horrid, cold little room. It looked as if she'd have no choice but to search the neighboring towns until she found him... and hopefully soon, before he did something really abominable. Not that stealing Santa's cookies and treats wasn't terrible, but for all she knew he could be running about and lighting everyone's Christmas trees on fire!

Presently, Plushie found herself a bit preoccupied, and this was no time to stand lost in thought over what could be or might be. The remaining zombies lumbered, lurched, stumbled, dragged and groaned themselves towards her. The fallen remained fallen; they were no longer part of this battle. It had been unintentional, but her door-blasting had done more good than she could have hoped for. Plushie pushed her foot backwards, imitating the motions of a bull. Gripping her scepter, she did the bravest thing she had ever done... she charged!

"CHAAAARGE!" She even announced it! Running forward, she held her scepter horizontally at her stomach, and barreled into the fray! A few zombies were knocked over, the staff-like metal of the scepter catching them in the stomach and forcing them back off their feet (I think, and I think it's a reasonable theory, that if zombies had had better balance and a smarter brain to readjust their balance, that Plushie's heroics might not have worked at all. But like you, I should be happy that they did). A few of the zombies took clumsy swings at her, though thanks to her swift thinking, she was able to duck or spin away from the blows.

Coming out on the other side, she turned to see how effective her work had been. It hadn't. Every single zombie was getting to his feet with guttural and incoherent groaning. Oy! This army was worst than the last! At least she had far better luck with them.

"Ugh! What do I have to do to be rid of you beasts?" She said with exasperation. I shouldn't wonder that we're all thinking the same thing.

Hello, Deja Vu. Once again her attempt to stop these brainless minions failed and, once again, here they came towards her. Plushie groaned with frustration and facepalmed; this was becoming so, so tiresome. She wanted to just run off and go face Zero Omega; he was the true threat to Christmas, not these zombies. It was he who orchestrated this whole wicked plot and he who would continue to try and destroy Christmas. These zombies were just... well, if you've ever seen a zombie, you know.

"I could leave and come back. I'm sure they would still be here. They're so dim that they'd just wander about. Maybe they'd even try and eat each other's brains." Plushie said to herself, pacing around in a little circle as she debated whether or not to stay until the zombies had been taken care of, or simply leave and come back later, after she had somehow defeated the mastermind. As she argued with herself, the zombies lurched and dragged themselves forward, oblivious as to what their "prey" was doing. The nearest one swung his weapon at her head. Plushie squeaked and ducked, narrowly avoiding the tip.

"Hey, none of that!" She snapped, more annoyed with having her self-argument interrupted than she was at having her head nearly taken off. Backing up a few paces, she pointed her scepter at the group of barbarians and chimed, "Ribbon ribbon, blue and long, wrap these things up, nice and strong." Blue ribbon spiraled from the end of her scepter, outward and onward. It curled and twisted around the closest zombies, knotting and binding, roping them together. The end of the ribbon expelled from her scepter, doing a little dance before finishing itself with a pretty bow. The bound zombies stood tied together, their arms trapped at their sides, confused as to why they could no longer pursue their hunger of brains.

"Hmm... not quite right yet." Plushie observed, pointing her scepter above the gathered zombies. With a quick murmur, a large white bow shot out as if from a cannon. It fluttered downward, almost gracefully, before landing on the zombie's heads. "Perfect!" She exclaimed, grinning.

A few more zombies were now out of the way, wrapped up nicely as a present for Zero Omega, if he ever returned. Though, she didn't expect even he would want a present full of zombies. Yikes. That gift would definitely end up in the 'return' pile.

The ribbon'd zombies each tried to lumber in their own direction. This did not result in anything beneficial for them; they became a tangle of legs and ended up a cluttered lump on the snowy ground. The remaining zombies went unaware that a few of their comrades had been immobilized; they groaned and dragged onward, their single-minded (Forgive the expression; it seemed best suited for the sentiment, though we all know that zombies are lacking any true mind) focus on the girl before them. These zombies cared nothing for Christmas, ruining it or otherwise; all they wanted were brains, and if they themselves had one, they'd have figured it most beneficial to lurch into the neighboring towns where hundreds of brains resided. I think we should all consider ourselves lucky that this did not come to "mind."

Plushie wasted no time in jumping to the offense; she didn't want to risk her head being chopped off again. It was decided: she would stay here and fight until each of these zombies was out of the picture, and that had to happen soon. Christmas depended on it! She wouldn't let this second batch of minions deter her from the real problem - Zero Omega. Pointing her scepter at the remaining empty-headed monsters, she chimed once more, remembering the "good stuff" involved in Christmas, using it to empower her.

"Dough and chips, a perfect treat, baked on 350 on a cookie sheet!"

Like the large white bow, several things began to 'shoot' from the golden end of her scepter... chocolate chip cookies! They pelted the zombies, hitting them in the face, the front, the legs -- pew, pew, pew, pew! Several cookies broke on impact. A few of the zombies got a cookie right in the mouth; let's see how they liked that! ..... They didn't. Each one "chewed" lazily at the cookie before uttering a disgusted/angry-like groan. Bits of cookie fell from their mouths -- ewwwww! None of the zombies were deterred from this cookie-cannon fire. They resumed their approach.

"Well, cookies are meant for Santa. No matter, I'll come up with something else!" Plushie exclaimed confidently, not being the least bit off-put from this setback. After all... they had been happening a lot!

The bombardment of cookies hadn't quite worked out, but no matter; Plushie would not be deterred from taking out the last of these mindless minions -- in the name of Christmas! The longer she took to finish off these zombies, the more opportunity Zero Omega had to complete his dastardly plans. The little light of hope shone in the deep recess of her mind and she saw the dark fate of Gaia were she to fail: crying children, confused people, Christmas trees burning, cookies uneaten, and poor, fat, jolly Santa sitting alone in his workshop, his elves gone, unneeded, working at a snail's pace on a toy train... one that no child would ever receive.

The horror! This could never be! She would never let this happen! "I'm coming for you, Zero!" She shouted at the top of her lungs, hoping that where he was, he would hear. Now was the time to finish off these zombies once and for all! Plushie pointed the golden end of her scepter towards the sky and chimed,

"Working hard all year round, a few I call to this battle ground.
Pause your trains, pause your dolls,
I need you now, for my worthy cause.
Come ye hither and rush to my aid,
Help me beat these zombies, and let Christmas be saved!"

Like the reindeer earlier, something appeared far off in the distance. At first, it looked like a speck, but after a moment that speck became larger... and larger. Plushie ducked to avoid a swipe from one of the zombies, bumping her shoulder into its side to knock it down. She hurried a few feet from the gathering, not wanting to be inside it when "the speck" arrived. Up in the distance it grew larger, and larger until you could just make out what it was... a sleigh! Brilliant and red, it was pulled by a single reindeer (it wasn't Santa's sleigh). Plushie cheered and encouraged the sleigh's arrival, calling out, "Hooray! Down here! Hurry!" Suddenly five heads popped up from the sleigh's edge... elves!

The reindeer alighted on the ground, the sleigh sliding in the snow behind it. The five elves jumped from their carriage, each equipped with a toy: one had a stuffed bear, another had a hula-hoop, the third had a paddle ball, the fourth a jack-in-the-box, and the fifth a toy train. Now, we all know elves are Santa's workers and they are very hard-working indeed, but what many of us do not know is how terribly naughty elves can be... especially when Christmas is threatened! The elf with the bear fearlessly jumped onto a zombie and began smacking him with the stuffed toy. The elf with the hula-hoop jumped up and threw it around another zombie, pulling it in circles, forcing the zombie to turn 'round and 'round. The elf with the paddle ball used another zombie's head for target practice. The elf with the jack-in-the-box handed his toy to another zombie, who started stupidly at it, until the jack sprung out and hit him in the face! The elf with the toy train crept up to another zombie and put the train right under his foot as he went to step, letting him slip on it!

Plushie jumped up and down and thanked the elves, waving as they took off back to the North Pole. There were still so many toys to make!

Each zombie targeted by the elves lay in the snow, out of commission. Only a few remained.

All right! Only a handful of zombies remained and our heroine was determined to beat them and in a timely manner. Not one more minute could be wasted on futile attempts and evasive tactics. The situation was more critical than ever; Zero Omega had been "on the loose" for far too long and one could only imagine what new horror he was wreaking on Gaia in his quest to destroy Christmas! He needed to be stopped and the sooner she found him, the sooner she could stop him!

Plushie (probably inspired by the brave actions of the little elves) ran right past the remaining zombies. Each took a swing at her, but thanks to a jump, a duck, and even a stumble, she narrowly missed the would-be scalping. Putting about twenty feet between her and the approaching zombies, Plushie turned and held her scepter vertically out in front of her.

"Tall and green, oh so grand,
Come here now and take a stand.
Ornaments and garland, a star on top,
Fight this enemy, make them stop.
Christmas Tree, oh Christmas Tree,
I want to save Christmas, please come and help me."

The scepter in her hands began to glow brightly in its entirety. Plushie closed her eyes and turned her head to shield the light, which was overwhelming. She lifted her scepter as high as possible before slamming it down into the snow ( think Gandalf -- YOU SHALL NOT PASS emotion_awesome ). The area exploded with a brilliant white light. Plushie took a few steps back, peeking out one of eye, trying to watch what was happening. The scepter glowed and glowed, becoming larger and larger with each passing moment. She could no longer see the zombies, but had no doubts that they too had stumbled back. Finally, the light dulled and before them stood the largest Christmas Tree imaginable. It had to be at least 40 feet tall and it was decorated with shining ornaments, frilly garland, and on top sparkled the most beautiful star.

The Christmas Tree towered above them all, in all its splendor. As if it had understood its summoner's words, and was perhaps even alive, it began to rock a bit... forward... backward... forward... barely even noticeable. That is until it fell forward completely, landing on the remaining zombies, burying them under Christmas glory. Plushie winced a bit -- that had to hurt. The tree glowed once more until it vanished. Her scepter lay in the snow and before it the zombies, all knocked out. She stepped forward and picked up her trusty friend. Seeing footprints along the path leading to Durem, Plushie took off in the same direction.

Get ready, Zero Omega... Here I come.

Plushie followed the footprints in the snow all the way into Durem. Zero Omega was around here somewhere; perhaps he was cookie-raiding H&R Wesley, the Tattoo Parlor, or even the Salon. Plushie was forced to pause in her tracking; Durem had been busy all day and there were footprints everywhere, going in every direction. She had no way of knowing which were Zero's and where he was. Darn it! The sun was beginning to set; instead of baby blue and bright, the sky was now a darkened orange mixed with deep shades of grayish blue. The winter winds had picked up, gusting this way and that. Plushie did not much fancy the idea of searching for Zero Omega in the cold and in the dark. Do not want.

She walked slowly through the streets of Durem, gazing this way and that, half-expecting the Christmas-fiend to jump out of the shadows at any moment. Shop-keepers were closing up for the evening; Vanessa was just outside the Salon, closing the door behind her and turning the key in the lock. She waved to Plushie as she approached and exclaimed, "You could use a hair cut!" Despite the gravity of the circumstances, Plushie found herself laughing, momentarily forgetting about Zero Omega. That is until she saw him running from H&R Wesley, his arms full of boxed cookies! Edmund came outside after him, shaking his fist in the air and shouting, "Fiend! Get back here with my cookies! Those are for Santa!" He was a gentleman of course, and so partook in no foul language nor a foot chase.

Plushie pointed her scepter at the fleeing Zero and chimed,

"Ribbons, ribbons, white and pure,
Stop that fiend, lest he thieves some more!"

Milk-white colored ribbons erupted from the end of her scepter, spiraling like a whipcord towards the fleeing villain. They wrapped around his legs, tangling him and forcing him to the ground, the cookies flying from his arms. Plushie tugged her scepter as she approached, hoping to wrangle the beast of a boy and stop him from doing anymore damage. Zero, however, was quite clever and quick; he wriggled free from the ribbons and got to his feet, abandoning the cookies and taking off once more, rounding the corner of the Durem Depot and heading towards the town's other path... the one that headed into the Durem Graveyard.

Gulp. >.<

"Oh come on, not in there! Wait, come back this way! I'll turn around and close my eyes and you can hide somewhere!" Plushie called after Zero as she pursued him, hoping he'd take her up on her offer, or even change his mind, about going into the Durem Graveyard. With a quick glance over her shoulder, she saw Edmund collecting his cookies and both Vanessa and Moira helping him. Well, at least those cookies were safe! It was the rest of Gaia's in jeopardy now. She paused under the great stone archway, watching with a sinking heart as Zero continued on... right into Durem Graveyard. Ugh! Why, why, why did he have to pick the graveyard? It was cold, and near dark, and... it was a freakin' graveyard! It was spooky, and probably haunted, and so NOT Christmas'y! Everything in there was dead: the trees, the ground, the... people... Waaaaagh!!

Plushie paced back and forth for several long moments, rambling on and on aloud to herself, "I can't go in there... it's scary! No! I have to go in there; Christmas is depending on me! It's probably haunted! There's no such thing as ghosts and ghouls! I just faced zombies, how can I say that? Come on, do it for Christmas! Ugh, I hate this! SAVE CHRISTMAS!" You mustn't judge her too harshly for this, perhaps Gollum-like, self-debate; I don't know about you, but I'd be freaking out if I had to chase an evil villain into a graveyard at night, too. With a deep breath and a resolve like steel, Plushie took off running, heading to the graveyard.

She tip-toed through the gloomy, dead trees. The fallen snow provided some "cheer" to the area but... there was no hiding the "graveyard" atmosphere. Plushie peered around nervously, half afraid of Zero Omega and half afraid of some graveyard monster that might be lurking in the shadows, preparing to attack and eat her. The sun had finally set, the sky above darkening as night settled in. There were very few stars out tonight. Plushie began to make her way towards the tomb stones, unable to help releasing soft whining noises now and again. She was terrified! The wind rattled the bare, dead tree branches, a few dead leaves dancing across the snow.

"BRAAAAAGGGGHHH!!!!!" OH. MY. GAWD! Plushie screamed and screamed as a dark figure jumped out in front of her, evidently having hidden itself behind one of the tombstones. It snarled and growled and howled at her. It was a monster! She nearly tripped over herself as she flung herself backwards, shrieking in terror. It... but... wait... it was Zero. He stood grinning in front of her, obviously pleased with himself. Plushie panted and panted and panted, her eyes wide with shock and horror. Ok, not only had Zero been trying to destroy Christmas, but he had led her into a graveyard, at night, and had just tried to scare her to death! We must all forgive Plushie for her response.

She walked up to her foe slowly, almost as if in a trance; her expression was blank, her movements almost mechanic. Lifting a hand, she daintily worked her little white glove off before... smack. Yes. She smacked Zero right across the face with her glove. He recoiled slightly, I think mostly from shock. Plushie replaced her glove on her hand and took a deep, calming breath, exhaling in a soothing manner....

"WHAT, ARE YOU CRAZY? YOU CAN'T JUST JUMP OUT AT SOMEONE IN A GRAVEYARD AT NIGHT! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO CATCH ME AND TIE ME UP UNTIL YOU RUIN CHRISTMAS, NOT GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK!"

Bad form, Zero, bad form.

Zero Omega stood motionless for a few moments, apparently taken aback from being glove-smacked. I don't know about you, but if someone glove-smacked me, I'd be pretty speechless too. I mean, who does that these days? Evidently, Plushie does. She put her hand on her hip and gave him that "disappointed mother look."

Insert and awkward moment of silence here.

"Look, the pie in the face was an accident. I meant to hand it to you, but I tripped over one of your stupid bots." Plushie said after a moment. Zero continued to stare at her, without a word, his expression almost blank. Plushie fidgeted a bit, not much enjoying being stared at. "It was an accident. I'd never do something like that on purpose.." She added, thinking perhaps her explanation had not fully sunk in. He continued to stare. Ok, this was getting a little creepy. She didn't like being in a graveyard at night as it was; she definitely did not enjoy being stared at like this. "Can you stop staring at me? You're starting to freak me out..." He didn't stop.

Using her scepter, Plushie swirled it in a circular motion, red ribbon erupting from the end. It twisted and molded, forming a giant red sack on the ground. "Santa isn't the only one with one of these..." She said brightly, dropping down and rummaging around inside. After a moment, she pulled out a teddy bear, handing it to Zero Omega. "Isn't he cute? If you destroy Christmas, no one will get any of these..." See. A perfectly good reason to not destroy Christmas. Unfortunately, Zero didn't agree. He merely tossed the teddy bear over his shoulder before crossing his arms. Strike one.

Hmm, alright... no to the teddy bear. Plushie frowned before rummaging once more in the red sack. She turned over one toy, then another, trying to find the perfect one that would somehow get around this solid wall of Christmas-destroying determination that Zero Omega seemed to have. There had to be something in there, something that would remind him how nice Christmas can be. Aha! Grabbing a snow globe, she pulled it out and handed it to him.

It was rather lovely. There were children inside under a tree opening presents; they were smiling and looked delighted. When you shook it, it snowed all around, making the scene more magical looking. "Look at that. Don't they look happy? If you destroy Christmas, all the children will be upset.. you'll ruin something wonderful to them, and to everyone." Zero glanced at the snow globe, gave it a little shake, and then tossed it over his shoulder. It shattered on the ground behind him. The sound made Plushie wince; it was another of her hopes shattering against his impenetrable wall of Grinchness.

She looked around his legs at the jagged glass pieces sticking up from the snow, the children broken and cracked. It was a sad sight to see, and the fact that Zero had no problem breaking the "snow globe representation of a child's Christmas" made the night all the more cold and despairing. Strike two...

Oy. If happy children couldn't melt this fiend's icy heart then what could? With a frustrated huff, Plushie began to rummage once more. Something had to work! It just had to! There had to be something in there that would remind Zero as to the special wonder of Christmas; the meaningfulness, the joy, the magic! "I will find something...," she told herself as she searched. Plushie was not Santa, so she couldn't have found the "personal gift." You know that gift you may not have gotten when you were a little kid, but Santa still remembers, and may give to you years later as an adult, to remind you of that Christmas magic? Yeah, only Santa can do that. So our little do-gooder was stuck with her own guesswork and hopes.

Plushe spotted a practical joke gift beneath a puzzle game; it was one of those jack-in-the-box type toys where, when the jack popped out, you got a pie in the face. Uhh.... no, let's just leave that one here in the bag, out of sight... forever and ever. Good choice. After a moment, Plushie pulled out a large Santa plushie; he was nice and plump in his red suit, with his hat and boots, and rosy cheeks, and big jolly face. She handed it to Zero and smiled, "Santa! How can you want him to disappear forever? Think of everything he does. All his hard work to make Christmas wonderful. Look at those plump, happy cheeks!" She said, hoping beyond hoping that, seeing Santa, even in this toy form, would stir some humanity in him.

Zero Omega stared down at the Santa plushie for quite longer than he did the other two items. For the briefest moment, Plushie thought that at last some warmth had come into him. Her heart sank when, with an angry look on his face, Zero turned and threw the toy as far away from him as possible.

"I don't believe in Santa." He said. UGH! OH! UUUUGH! Plushie put a hand over her heart, as if wounded, and gasped with pain. She fell back onto her butt and stared wide-eyed up at the heartless boy, shocked and horrified.

Don't... believe in... Santa....? AAAAAH!
