I fumed, tired, irritable, and just wanting some bed rest. These protesters were idiots, and there was no way she was going to- The front door opened, and the chanting ceased. An alley was made between the students, and the light poured out of Dwight, where silhouettes of a woman flanked by four cops were. The crowd was dead silent, all looking at the doorway. Slowly, she made her way to the doorway, and the light dimmed off of her figure and revealed the chancellor in the flesh. Silence. The cops stood on either side of her, warily sizing up the crowd. There was no way the cops could fight off this many people, let alone protect her if a fight broke out. The zombies stood fast, eyes staring forward, their jaws tight. If she walked the length of the students, this movement would catch fire at her assenting to this kind of treatment. But if she didn't walk the length, would the students retaliate? They were mad, angry, but...as the cops passed, nervous glances flashed to their hips, where a baton, a tazer, and a pepperspray can were holstered. Fear. They were still fearful of being sprayed by the cops. I jostled into the line somewhere before the chancellor's progression. I knew what I had to do. As she passed, I put my toe out ever so subtly. The cop's eyes were up on the crowd, and the poor man took a fall, stumbling against his neighbor. "He's getting the pepperspray! Run!" I yelled as I turned and ran, making it seem like his stumble was a cover for their intended action to "pepperspray the crowd". But they ate it up. Panic erupted as tired, hungry, disheveled students broke rank and ran. The zombies were confused, and in their senselessness ran with the crowd, some going with one group, others going solo with other individual students.
I made it back to my dorm, beat, but smiling. I collapsed into my bed, knowing that I had won again. Enemy: Zero Zombie Army AC: 13 HP: 15/60 AC rolled: 17 Attack was successful! Dealt 17 damage! Damage was fatal! Enemy: Zero Zombie Army HP: 0/60 ZERO ZOMBIE ARMY DEFEATED

I groggily woke up, glad to have had an easy weekend. There had been no more protests for me to shut down, no more sit ins on the quad. But, I still woke and attended my 8 A.M class just as everyone....everyone else? I looked around. Usually, I was late, and couldn't find a seat so I'd stand in the back. Today, I was late, and there were maybe fifteen or so people out of a class of 250. I sat in the back, pondering this action. I knew people didn't like this class, but for 235 of them to simultaneously not show up was odd. I sighed and just waited for the class to end.
It wasn't until my twelve o'clock class did I realize something was happening across the campus. Students were all walking to the quad, which was located right outside of my next class. Slowly to the curb this time, I stopped, and was stunned. The quad was filled. Not one half, not a corner, but the whole plot of land that boasted two football field lengths divided by a center walkpath. There was a stage errected, and numerous signs and banners strewn about. I wondered if I had missed a PSA earlier in the morning, but I was pretty sure I would've gotten an email, which I had been checking before this class. I locked my bike and proceeded to class, only to witness another eight students occupying a room that held 300. "What's going on in the quad?" I asked no one in particular. A girl in the front whipped her head around and snapped at me. "There's a riot today against all the inhumanities the cops have done to the protest against sugar. So everyone is in the quad, refusing to attend class until the cops allow the protest to continue peacefully. Even the teachers are out there." She whipped her pointed little head back around and resumed reading her textbook. I huffed and turned out the way I had come in. This was to be the end of it.
I jogged across the way and proceeded to the rally, chanting and speaches flying all across the quad. Cans of spraypaint were everywhere, and people were sporting the mask from V for Vendeta on the backs of their heads, somehow bringing about a feel of public injustice and rebellion against the state. People will protest for anything now a days I thought, weaving through the crowd, pushing my way up front to the stage. I bumped shoulders against a guy who turned on me, his mask looming over me and I pressed back quickly into a body, shoving them against their neighbor. Then chaos erupted. I ducked and turned, viewing what had happened. I had pushed a cop into a student, who then retaliated by pushing the cop to his knees. By the time that had happened, cops where everywhere, but the rally fought back, and yelling had taken over the quad. I stayed low and moving, refusing to get caught by either party. Banners, signs, the cop's gear, everything was getting thrown around and on the ground. A can was slammed onto my foot and I yelled, crouching to massage my foot and protect myself from oncoming damage. But none came. I grabbed the can and moved swiftly, emerging on the other side of the quad. I surveyed the damage. The quad was a full blown riot, with fighting and yelling and clouds rising from the ground from the cop's dropped tear gas cans. I turned over my shoulder and saw blinds quickly drop from the second story of the ancient dorms on campus that were kept for antiquity. There. There I would find my mastermind and there I would kill the head of this deadly snake. Testing my foot, I made for the building.
I kept my backpack high on my back to protect it from blows as I stepped onto the second floor. Creaky wooden floorboards announced my every movement as I proceeded down the first hallway to my left, the one where I had seen the movement of the blinds. I checked each room with a bum's rush, charging in and swinging wildly with my hands and the can, I left each checked room open, and proceeded that way down the hall to the last door. I steadied my hand, and was in the process of turning the knob when I heard a creak behind me. Acting instinctively, I backpedaled, colliding with a body that moved back quickly. Turning, I caught sight of a gold trimmed coat disappearing around the corner down the hall. I gave chase. Enemy: Zero Omega AC: 16 HP: 70/70 AC rolled: 9 Attack failed. Enemy: Zero Omega HP: 70/70

The hallway to the right of the stairs echoed numerous doors shutting. I peered around the corner to view the empty hallway. Luckily, this meant I had trapped him. Unluckily, it meant I had to proceed with caution as I didn't know what I was up against nor what he had in his arsenal. I decided to mask my door options with speach. "Why are you doing this? What's so bad about sugar?" I shouted this down the hall as I moved, making my best efforts to be quiet on the floors. The metal grills from each room that were mandated to allow air to travel between the hallway and the rooms were situated above each door, and the acoustics from the wood floors would mask the initial location of the response. Each room would have to be checked. Lucky for me, he was a talker, and responded in kind. "Don't you know, little boy, that sugar rots your teeth? I'm doing this for your sake. Why are you fighting me?" I turned the first door quickly as he spoke. Empty. Try, try again. Enemy: Zero Omega AC: 16 HP: 70/70 AC rolled: 11 Attack failed. Enemy: Zero Omega HP: 70/70

I edged back out of the frame of the first door. My misgiving about continuing stopped me from moving. Sugar did rot my teeth. Was this man doing me a favor from keeping me from needing to visit the dentist for shots and cavities? My musings must have been pregnant, because his voice rang out. "Have you given up your fight, boy? Or have you forgotten what you were fighting for? You see, sugar rots your brain too!" The gleeful voice woke me from my reverie. I moved towards the next door on my right, sliding my feet as to test my weight against the wood below. No, this is ridiculous. There's sugar in everything. It would be a mess to eliminate sugar from one's diet. This couldn't pass. He had to be stopped. "What's your real reason?" I shouted out, masking my turn of the second knob. The door swung open. Empty again. Enemy: Zero Omega AC: 16 HP: 70/70 AC rolled: 11 Attack failed. Enemy: Zero Omega HP: 70/70

I had to keep him talking. It was the only way to check the rooms faster. "Why don't you answer the question? Is it because you know you're answer is ridiculous? Is it because there is no answer? You're just making chaos, and that's why you need to be stopped." While I talked, I left the second room and made it to the third, just in time to turn the knob, but not with enough time to push it open. I waited patiently, and I was just deciding to open my mouth again when his answer flitted back to me. "...Do you want to know why, little boy? I think I'll tell you, seeing as how there's no way you can stop the mob now." I turned the knob, surveying the empty room as his words dangled in the air, the sound of the chaos returning to my attention, shouts and sirens wailing outside. Keep him talking. I didn't want to push him. He was willing to talk, so I waited until he decided to talk again before moving. "...Have you ever been humiliated, boy? Ever been, laughed at and ridiculed in front of everyone you know? In front of the people you see every, single, day?" When I neglected to answer him due to my creeping to the next door, his frustrated continuation reverberated against the knob that I was holding. "Answer me boy! I said-" I turned the knob and pushed the door in as he shouted at me. I was surprised to be resisted, but it was apparent that he was behind the door. He yelped in surprise as the door slammed into him, but pushed back, knocking me back. He shuffled around the door as I steadied myself and I charged at him, catching him between the frame and myself. We struggled for a bit, and blows were exchanged before he turned to his left, then his right, throwing me into the room and turning, my hands finding no purchase to keep him still agaist his rotation. I tumbled into the room, landing on my side. Pushing myself back up, I regained my composure as a door slammed shut, sounding from the left of the hallway. "You think you can fight with me boy? You're scrawny, and weak. I tossed you like a sack of sugar. It was very rude of you to interrupt my story. Did you not want to know why I did this? Answer me now boy, or next time I won't run after I throw you." I was moving slower from the room where we struggled. I decided not to charge anymore doors, seeing as how easily he had turned my momentum against me, and my hip was throbbing. "I want to know. Please, continue." I took a breather against the wall, stretching over my pained hip. "I asked if you had ever been humiliated." "No, I have not." "Then you will not understand the rage that I feel. The utter loathe of sugary things, like pie. And therefore, all you need to understand, is that I have a vendetta against sugar." Already I had talked him to the end of his problem. Seems like it was back to square one, cover my room checks with questions. I had to keep going. If I didn't, there was a good chance the crowd outside would overpower the cops, and then sugar would cease to exist on campus, a fate far worse than having to see the dentist every now and again. I had to hurry. The sounds of the crowd got louder as I made my way down the hallway, towards the location of the rally, now a riot. I stood up and twisted, checking my hip. "So, if you have a personal vendetta, why take it to a college campus? Why not protest on the streets?" My question layered over a creak in the floorboard under my left foot. I paused, hesitant to give away my movement. He knew I was chasing, but he didn't know where I was. "That, is simple enough. Do you not think, boy, that a college campus is the perfect place to protest? Young, impressionable minds ripe with the fire of being adults released from mommy and daddy's care. Do you not feel your freedom tearing at your existence?" I had hit upon a notion he treasured, and this was what would cover me for the next few rooms. As he dove into his reasons, I turn the knob of the fifth door from the outside of the frame and pushed it in, taut and expecting him to rush out. Silence poured from the room. "I do feel my freedom. But I still keep my sane mind. Why would I see any rational behind your cause? It's preposterous." Which, was absolutely true. Enemy: Zero Omega AC: 16 HP: 51/70 AC rolled: 12 Attack failed. "It doesn't matter how preposterous my cause is. Do you think all those people out there rallying behind my flag are there because they agree with me? Don't think so low of your peers, boy. They are simply reacting to a call on the most natural level of their instincts. Do you know nothing of psychology?" As he ranted, I made it to the next door, where the wisps of his words hung over the frame. Got you. I had to play this one smart, I couldn't afford to let him run out on me again. If he had wanted to, he would've bolted for the stairs when he had thrown me, a notion I'm sure he was regretting at this point. Again I positioned myself next to the frame of the door, away from the doorway, and turned my head down the hall, away from where I knew he was. "I know of profiling, as seen on Criminal Minds. That's the extent of psychology that I know of." I heard a scoff from the wall separating us. "You foolish children with all your social media. No wonder you're an odd one out. You're probably anti-social and regard this riot as-" I cut him off, opening the door a crack. The silence was deadly as we weighed one another. I inched the door forward, into the room, and heard a thud as he bounded across to pull the door entirely open, expecting me to follow. I released the knob as it was pulled out of my grasp, and held my breath. Silence. A creak gave away his movement out the door and I ducked, hands reaching out to pull his legs out from under him. He fell forward, having caught himself on the doorframe to push him out, not in towards the room. With a crash his face connected with the floor, and swearing followed. He struggled against my grip and kicked his way out, smashing my fingers in the process. With my position betwen him and the stairs, he snarled and kicked at me, causing me to block my face. Knocking me over, he ran away from me, deeper into the hallway. Enemy: Zero Omega AC: 16 HP: 51/70 AC rolled: 19 Attack was successful! Dealt 12 damage! Enemy: Zero Omega HP: 39/70

I stood up and tested my fingers. They were sore, but not broken. Next time I would have to remember to make a fist. "Tell me, how does this end, boy?" His voice was lacking in it's usual jibe. It took me a second to realize that he was really asking. "What do you mean? How does this end for you, or how does this end for me?" I decided to have this conversation with him, as it would hopefully buy me time to move to more doors. Slowly, I would push him to the end of the hallway, and then the final confrontation would occur. A turn, a push, and the seventh room was revealed to be empty. "It doesn't end for me until it ends for you. I'm not going to stop until you turn this riot around and reveal that this is nothing more than one individual's grievances." This much was true. I wasn't going to settle for any less than his taking responsibility for the madness he had caused. But, what did it mean? What was I expecting? For him to go to jail? For the students to learn? Why did I take up this cause with no resolution to its end? My hand closed on the next knob as I waited for his answer. The rumble of the crowd was heightening as I moved down the hall. Soon, it would cover most of my movement and this would go faster. "...And if I do not forfeit, boy?" The answer had taken its time coming back to me. Was he sitting? I turned the knob as I spoke to room number eight. "I'll cross that bridge when I get there." I really had no idea what I was going to do, other than stop this from progressing any farther. "Why don't you give this up? What's left for you to do? You've brought this riot together, and the entire quad is out there hungering after your ridiculous cause. You've done enough damage to get your point across, why don't you stop this?" Room number nine was a few steps away, but I had stumbled and caught myself as quietly as I could against the wall as I had spoken, breaking my gait. By now the riot was closer to my position and louder, masking any signs of where his voice would come from, something I had not expected. "Did Rome stop expanding after it took the Mediterranean? Did the Pilgrims stop colonizing after they took the East coast? Why on earth would you stop a good thing? No, I'm going to let this riot burn to ashes boy, and you are going to be the one who did nothing successful to stop me." Realizing I would be just as surprised as him if he was there and I entered, I flipped my backpack around, jostling the can inside. Now I had a layer of books over my stomach and the can on top of the books in the bag, laying over my chest. Taking a quick breath, I turned the knob and flung the door in, following it with my head down. I saw his feet first, and then I felt his hands as they proceeded to try and halt my charge. I grappled for his waist, pulling him down again. Landing on the floor, I realized he was quite bigger than I was, as he threw his weight over me and crushed the books against my chest. Blows were against exchanged in the flurry, shoulders and arms taking a few hits as I landed some on his ribs. He attempted to get up, but I locked my arms around his thigh, jabbing at it as he stumbled back. I was rewarded with shouting and cursing as he pushed at my head, pulling me by the hair and causing my grip to loosen. He squirmed out of my grasp, and made for the open door. I lunged from the floor, taking hold of his ankle and causing him to be floored again. I scooted forward, wary of kicks back at my face, and he too wrigged forward, sliding his ankles past my fingers. He broke free and closed the door on me as he got out, causing me to pull my fingers back lest they be jammed in the doorframe. Another door closed down the hallway. As I sat up against the frame, something odd rattled around my head: he never ran for the stairs. Rather, his gait was odd too. Something...then it clicked. As I had my hands wrapped around his ankle, it did bulge more than it should have. Was his ankle swollen? That would explain why he never made a break for it. It would also explain why two rooms ago it had sounded as though he was sitting. This hallway was his chance to wear me out until either he beat me senseless, or until...until what? Did he have someone coming for him? The thought roused me to get up, to hurry. As I stood, the bag fell away from my chest. I took a second to open the bag and look over the can I had picked up. Pepperspray. I laughed to myself, wishing I had pulled this out many doors ago. But, now I had something. Something to use when I was cornered. I replaced the can in my bag and left the room.
By now the noise was loud enough to cover my footsteps, so the question-and-answer game was over. I tensed, hand on the knob to the tenth room. There could only be maybe nine or ten rooms down each side. As I snaked back and forth between them, he would eventually be trapped in one. Again forcing my way into a room, I found this one empty. At least no fight this time. I was sure that if he wanted to, he could knock me a good one. Enemy: Zero Omega AC: 16 HP: 20/70 AC rolled: 11 Attack failed. Enemy: Zero Omega HP: 20/70

Now that I knew I had a weapon of the sorts, I had to begin contemplating how I was going to end this. I needed to know what the situation was. I knew that there was a riot outside. A riot that potentially, I had caused. I hadn't caused it to gather, but I had ignited it. Next, I knew my enemy was not going to allow this to die down. Rather, he would continue to put himself through fighting with me to watch it burn out. This left me with one option. I had to reveal this sham as it was, from its leader. Somehow, I would have to get this man to address the crowd and reveal its absurdity. Without its head, the snake would die, and the students would gripe over authority, blah blah blah, and life could resume its course. The question afore me, was how to coerce him to obey me?
I didn't realize I was before the eleventh door until my foot kicked the frame. I looked up hastily, worried that if he was in this room, that now my element of surprise was up. Adjusting the straps on my reversed backpack, I opened the door, ready to take a leap backwards. Again, empty. Enemy: Zero Omega AC: 16 HP: 20/70 AC rolled: 3 Attack failed. I turned to the twelveth room, wary that I had given him too long to recuperate. The longer I took, the longer the riot lasted. And the longer that went, the harder it was going to be to fix it with my now pretty-serious goal. I shuddered. And, either he has longer to bait me out till his help comes, or until he wears me down to squash me himself. Steadying myself, I charged the room, slowing as it appeared to be another empty pursuit. I stuck my head out the doorway and counted doors to the window at the end of the hall. Ten doors each side. That meant that he only had eight more escape rooms. If I could knock each room out in a minute, that would give me time to fight him and time to force him to shut the riot down. Pumping myself up with the notion that this was coming to an end, I strode out of the room. Enemy: Zero Omega AC: 16 HP: 20/70 AC rolled: 2 Attack failed. Enemy: Zero Omega HP: 20/70
