"I doubt it, and why would they want to?" Taryn offered, and then spun around to see Roch straight-on. He was pulling something out of his backpack?
...oh. Oh my. 'People', sure. Probably... probably Chuppi and Xiu and... oh...
The ghoul fairly melted and took the rose, looking down at it for a long moment before looking back to Roch. Her cheeks were surprisingly hot all of a sudden.
"Thank you..."

"I got a couple for Amrita cuz I was worried she'd be stuck on the floor trying to recover from dyin', and I gave one to Riley, but I didn't talk to her, think she was sleeping. I'm gonna give one to Chuppi and... I guess I should give one to Xiu when I do apologize... just... I ain't ready yet," he told her, slipping his backpack back onto his back and shoving his hands into his pockets. "Unno if Danny wouldn't kill hers quick if I gave her one..."
He frowned thoughtfully over that one.

Taryn wanted it to be what it was. She wanted to feel like one of five girls to get a rose, one of them being Roch's long-time crush, it was only logical.
Except she didn't.
The poor ghoul felt like she was the one and only, as if Roch had been singularly thoughtful and gotten her a present, thought of her on vacation and not given it to her as an afterthought. She cursed the illogical nature of such things and held the rose to her chest, looking away for a moment. Now what did she say?!
"Nobody's after you, Roch..." Ohoho, if only he knew...

"I wish I knew for sure," Roch said quietly. He started walking again, heading for the reaper dorms. "I... I told her, Xiu, that is, that I wanted to give her what she wanted. I want to make her just another ghoul to me. That's what it means when she says we're just friends, right? That I'm just another boil to her. It's only fair to both of us if we feel the same way. That's why I asked her not to call me. I'm tryin... to convince myself that she's just another ghoul."

Taryn watched her hooves as they walked, her rose still to her heart.
"That's what 'just friends' tends to mean, yes..." she reasoned, although she had never experienced that kind of thing herself. She could only assume that Xiu had, in fact, meant only friends. How sad. "I guess it makes sense. I have to admit, I kind of liked the idea of you two as a couple but..." The chimera shrugged, scrunching her nose for a split second.
"I'm here if you need me, you know that."

"Yeah, I know," he said, giving her a slight smile as they headed into the reaper dorm and to his room. "It'll take a bit for the pizza to cook," he said as he opened the door and flipped on the lights. "So I figure we can hang out while it does. Hey, I wonder if I could get some glow-in-the dark posters or stuff like they had in the golf place!"
His room was as empty as ever, with only the large papasan bed in the middle, and minipets lounging on top of it. To the side of that was a desk and chair, and in front of it an old fashioned skelevision. There was a small room built into the corner, with a solid looking door left open. "You ever karaoke?" he asked her from the kitchen in the back.

"I think that was blacklight, not glow in the dark," Taryn amended, holding her rose to her nose when Roch wasn't looking and looking around the room. It was very simple... she kind of liked that. She peered over at his minipets, but realized in a moment just where they were perched, turned vividly red, and turned away. "It's a different idea that glow-in-the-dark. It doesn't need to be activated so... in that case? Absolutely." She wandered over to his desk and looked it over. A lot could be said about a person by the contest of their desk.
"Karaoke? What's karaoke?"

"Yeah? Then you're gonna haveta go with me to find something," he told her as he popped the pizza in the oven and checked his watch. "Oh, um... Karaoke is singing songs to recorded music. I've got a booth, it's right over there in the corner. It's soundproof, which is good, cuz the walls here are pretty thin."
His desk had a few sheets of music on it, a pen, and a couple of plastic boxes with chocolate skulls in them. It didn't look as if he did much studying, other than music.

"Okay," Taryn nodded. There were worse things than a trip to the weird stores at the maul. Roch was actually pretty good about opening her eyes to things that would generally terrify her. "Oh? No, I've never-- I mean, obviously--"
She turned away from the desk, deciding that she had never imagined Roch as a very studious type and at least he was passionate about something. "I hear the music from my neighbors' rooms sometimes," she admitted, "It's a little annoying, honestly. I don't have anything to drown it out..."

"You... don't like music?" he asked, sounding just a tiny bit injured by that statement. "Wow, I mean, I woulda never made you--I--well--" He frowned, wondering what to do in this case as he walked into the living area and dropped down on his bed couch. "I guess I shouldn't offer to play for you, then, huh?"

"What? Oh, no, it's not that!" She hadn't meant that at all! Thinking back, though, it certainly could have sounded that way. She couldn't imagine how Roch must have felt, considering his weapon was a guitar for Jack's sake. "It's just loud, and in the middle of the night, and I don't have a choice in the matter. You know I love to hear you play..."
Didn't he? She had listened rather intently in that room with the boos. Of course, she didn't know much about music, but she was willing to learn!

"Oh," he said, his expression clearing up. "You need to get some earplugs," he said. "Or bang on the wall until they turn it down or something," he said with a shrug. "You know your neighbors? I bet if you offer them spookies or something they'll be more willing to listen."
He held out his hand, summoning his guitar, since she'd just said she liked hearing it! He figured a song or two would help pass the time.

"Hm!" She wasn't really a wall-banging type, but spookies... that could just work! Taryn had never met her neighbors, but maybe it was due time... unless they were nasty. It was hard to tell by a person's choice of music, she'd learned. When the guitar came out, the ghoul could only grin and bounce on her hooves. Musical interlude time!

"Um, well, I have been workin' on something," Roch admitted. "I'm planning on doing the music for the play, y'know? So I got some of the music scores--I can't do ALL the songs, it'd take too long, but would you mind if I did a medley?" He looked down, tuning his guitar with a gentle expression. "I got hopes," he told her. "So I been practicing!" Then he started to play.

Taryn had been there for Roch's audition, but hadn't spoken to him at the time. Now she was getting her own private showing for what would certainly be the school play's score. She could just imagine herself under those lights...
The ghoul just nodded and listened to Roch, smiling pleasantly. He really was very talented... of course that was to be expected of a reaper-musician.
