As expected from someone built like a gorilla, his every hit made her muscles ache; she imagined this must be how being hit by a truck must feel like. A mimi truck.

"Do they now?" Robert quirked one eyebrow, tilting Jezebel towards him. She was silent as usual, keeping her thoughts to herself. "I'll have to take your word for it. My b***h doesn't like telling me anything she's feeling."
Jezebel continued her radio silence, even as Robert lifted her up into the air, letting out a brutish cry as he came down upon Ariane with the force of every muscle in his body.
Which was a lot.

She bent over, hands on her knees to support herself as she swore under her breath.
"Oh? Really?" She found that hard to believe, since most of the trainees she had met found their weapon almost as noisy as Kintama, "I figured that since they've been keeping to themselves for a long time, they would be chatty as heck."

All Robert heard in his head was a quiet, harsh laugh. "Nah, my Jezebel only talks when she is in a good mood. And she ain't often in a good mood."
Robert lifted up to his toes, and his body twirled down gracefully, slamming the batleth's hilt into Ariane's stomach. When he hopped back from the attack, he swiveled Jezebel around in his arms so the other end was up, and he heard a wistful sigh.
I used to be quite talkative when I was alive, actually..

The air was knocked out of her lungs as she stumbled backwards from the hit, and she would have found herself on the floor had she not regained her balance at the last minute. That hurt like hell.
"Oh?" She winced, clutching her stomach before dashing at Robert, swinging her weapon at his side before moving away, "Well, at least yours doesn't keep you up at night."

"Nope-oof." He winced as the hit slammed into his side, making him stumble and swing wide and far. "Yeah, she don't do that.. I sleep real good."
You hardly sleep at all. Jezebel reminded him. And that's not my fault.
Robert's lips turned up in a secret smile, but he kept silent after that remark.

Ariane's response was short, sweet, and left Robert with nothing more to say. So, instead, he decided to speak through interpretive attacks.
His batleth swung high, and came down hard, swerving an arc in the air until it ran across Ariane's body. His eyes held no anger, however, just the excitement and thrill of a good spar glittering within them.

Ariane refused to yelp out in pain, although she did stop to yell something suitably obscene under her breath before going for Robert's legs with her shiny balls of steel.

The fight had taken a strangely solemn turn, as they exchanged hits one after the other, beating the other back just to get an attack returned. It was work, it was practice, it was their life now.
The adrenaline was running high, as they neared the end of their battle. Robert's batleth swerved smoothly through the air, cutting a swath until it connected with her side.

Kintama whined. Ariane oof'ed and clutched her side, taking a brief moment to rest before aiming for the same spot at the back of his leg.

That spot was starting to get sore! Robert tilted his body to try and keep it from her, thereby swinging his batleth unevenly and missing her entirely.
"You know, I'm starting to get a real bad ego hit with all the spars I've been doing lately." He coughed out, even as he dropped to one knee to catch his breath. "I used to be good at kicking a**."

She sighed, and dashed out to hit Robert again, "Oh? I'm sure you'll beat me and most other people to a pulp if we're just using our fists, if that helps your ego any." The balls were swung to hit his back, but somehow missed and hit his face instead. Whoops.

It did help.
It helped so much, he hardly noticed when the balls knocked him clear across the face, and he spun twice in place, his eyes rolling back behind his head.
And then, like the mighty oak, Robert fell down onto his face, unconscious.

"... s**t."
She desummoned Kintama, putting the necklace on her neck as she sighed, prodding the unconscious Robert with her foot before sighing again.
"How to put a sleeping gorilla back into his cage?" She mused out loud, ignoring Kintama completely as she rolled him to his side, so that he would at least be able to breathe properly. She then settled for sitting beside him, occasionally prodding him with her foot.
He owed her for not leaving him behind. Totally owed her.
