"Civilized adult? I wouldn't go that far. But I'll do my best, with your trust behind me."

He chuckled, knowing he could handle things just fine. He had eaten many dinners, and under far less comfortable situations and conditions than this. Her sofa, and all the surrounding things nearby, would be safe.

He looked at her and seemed surprised. He smiled broadly.

"We don't have plans, no. I don't know if Nate will even be around, but I would like to try and celebrate with him. I'd love to celebrate with you, as well. I think that's a really good idea."

And he did. He was oddly affected that she would ask, in fact, smiling dimly. It was very nice, having a friend like her to count on. Even if their kids weren't going to be too happy with the plan of being forced to hang out.

But it was Christmas, damn it.

"Well, you're welcome to come. Dinner is usually around three thirty and then we watch movies and generally let the evening go as it will. It's just been Harm and I for so many years I'm afraid I've forgotten how to entertain."

She was beaming, though, and making plans. She'd drop the bomb on Harmony after ice cream or shopping some afternoon soon so the fall out would be less likely to go nuclear. You never could tell with the teen. Her kidnapping had done wonders for their relationship but there will still times when they were both convinced the other was the devil incarnate. Perhaps that was simply the way of things. They might never be friends until Harmony grew and had some life experience of her own. Maybe when she graduates from college. Then they can be friends.

Besides, with two men around this year they might not be stuck with turkey for the next week of their lives due to leftovers.

"I'm not sure what your usual routine is but a full turkey dinner has to outweigh the culinary side of it."

She smiled and had a small laugh at his expense, joking about his lack of cooking. As with everything else it was nothing fancy in her house. Good food and wine and music playing in the background. Everything she did had an air of easy going. Though, perhaps they'd eat at the table this year. Harm would be disappointed.

"And it's settled. Come a bit early if you'd like. We can have some wine and watch a movie or two."

"I don't believe that for a moment," Tony laughed, "not remembering how to entertain. So far, I've found you very entertaining." He felt cheesy just saying it, and color rushed to his face in his own embarrassment as it sank in that he was a fool.

A big dumb goof ball.

"That certainly sounds nice. I have not had too much experience with the whole 'Christmas with other people' thing. I've had Nathan here before, but the house might as well be empty, for all he cares about Christmas. And I admit, last year was a little crazy. I don't think I really thought about the dinner..."

He smiled at her, then looked at his watch and sighed. He had to get home, to see if his son had eaten anything, or broken anything, and make sure Dogby had her dinner and her evening walk.

But he would finish the movie.

"That sounds very nice, though. Thank you for inviting us."

She blushed at his answer. He was probably right. She was a perfectionist and because it was him and she enjoyed his company she'd work hard to make sure things were right. The dinner bit was easy enough. She did that every year for the two Rosen women. Adding in two men couldn't change the routine of it too much.

"You're perfectly welcome, Tony. It might be nice to combine our families for a day and have some old fashioned Christmas cheer."

She leaned back and let the matter drop, watching the movie and finishing her dinner. Harm would appreciate the meal when she got home from work. At least her grades were improving and she still tried to sleep well. Something set her back a few weeks earlier that she didn't share with her mother but Camelot would know. Kyn still checked on her in the night, as usual, hoping for a normal life for her dear girl. It was a mother's task to wish their babies well.

When the movie ended she cleared the dishes and walked him to the door, thanking him one more time for his help and helping him to the car with the boxes so he could take them into work the following morning to drop off as donations. Then she hugged him tightly and smiled at the thought of seeing him soon for Christmas. That added more shopping to her list.

"Goodnight, Tony."

Tony enjoyed the rest of the evening, relaxing and watching the movie, which he did find funny and was glad for his 'choice'. Not that it was much of a choice, considering he had pulled it from random, but that was not the point.

He gave her a hug after everything was loaded in the car and lingered for a moment, then blushed deeply and bowed a little as he drew back. That was a habit he was picking up more while he was powered up, and usually it didn't leak into his 'real' life. Maybe because his subconscious was aware she already knew who he was, both ways.

Or he just wanted to be chivalrous and polite.

Bidding her goodnight, and thanking her a few more times for the meal and her time, he got in his car and drove back to his home. He'd leave the boxes secure in the car, in the garage, and then bring them into work to put in the donation box in the morning, as directed.

And, for the first time in a while, he was actually looking forward to christmas day.
