Yvette would always worry about prices. Always, always, always. It was instinct for her, and in the case for donating, it made more sense to worry about prices. The less you spent on one article of clothing meant you could buy and donate more. She could probably find three pairs of pants for the same price as the one. There would always be the debate about quality, but the dark-haired girl knew what was a well made pair of pants versus a pair that wouldn't even last a week.

Despite her strong viewpoint on the whole matter, the girl easily stifled those thoughts at her lips with a simple "Sorry..."

The librarian's brief explanation of why he has borrowed Yvette just caused her to shake her head slightly. "Um... I'm not very good with that sort of stuff... to be honest..." She made her own clothing. She made what she wanted. Not necessarily what other people wanted. Her tastes weren't quite as mainstream as the things found in the store. People could tell her all they wanted they liked her clothing, but Yvette would never believe them. They were always saying such just to be nice.

Tony laughed. He couldn't help it. The way she was always worried about everything was sweet. He just wished she could relax a little. She needed a good holiday, and this was his effort to help her with that. If she managed to give him any ideas at all.

"You don't like clothes?" he asked, trying very hard not to look crestfallen. His face, unfortunately, was similar to one Dogby wore whenever she found a great new toy and someone took her away from it. That was usually the easier method too, to just pick her up rather than fight with her for whatever it was she was chewing on.

The librarian cleared his throat.

"Well... what do you like instead? You always wear cute things, I thought you might know a bit about clothes and what's in..." he had made that assumption, that was true. Not for his proposed idea that he was shopping for anyone but her, of course, but that was just a detail.

He walked with her, deciding to get some shopping done so he didn't blow his cover. He picked a few clothes for various different types of people. He walked over to the food too, and loaded up some essentials.

"...um..." It took a while for the girl to gather her thoughts on the matter. When Mr. Darrow resumed pushing the cart, she shuffled along to make she she kept up.

"...it's just... my tastes... aren't exactly mainstream... so much... a-and... I don't think people receiving the donations... um... would like my sense of taste on these things... I mean... Ikindamakemyownclothes..."

Her face was a bright shade of red after confessing such. If Yvette even knew what a Lady Gaga was, she probably would have idolized her sense of style. And Lady Gaga-wear was not exactly practical for donations.

"...I mean, I can try to just find some sweaters or something... Iguess..."

In a vain effort to try and change the subject, she eventually squeaked out "Mommy and Daddy are taking me out on Saturday for dinner!" Of course, she regretted the specific subject change the moment it came out from her lips.

He listened thoughtfully. Not mainstream? That was either a good thing or a very bad one: he could either be more at ease with picking something for her or he would have to find things that were even more specific than he had thought. And he was bad enough at this already.

His eyebrows lifted a bit as she blushed, and he smiled.

"That's remarkable! You're very good, I would have sworn your clothes were professional, or store bought, if that's not an insult. I don't mean it as one: I just mean that they're very well done."

And very specific. It was easy to get one's tastes absolutely right when they were making the clothes for themselves. No compromises for artistic or design tastes as with professional designs bought from stores.

He frowned internally, though it only reflected in a difficult to read glimmer in his eyes.

"Why are they taking you out?" he asked, tilting his head, "for an early Christmas?" He probably should have known the answer, but he was a fool sometimes. He did, at least, let her relax and take over by grabbing some clothes for the donation pool he had collected in his shopping cart.

Yes, Mr. Darrow made it so Yvette now regretted her topic choice times 5 million. Maybe 10 million.

"I...um...itsbecauseI...well..." At the moment, it looked like the girl was a tomato that was about to burst. In all honesty, the girl never really liked to make such a big deal about such things, but now she sort of put herself in that corner where she had to tell the librarian about the plans.

"...I'mturning20..." December 17th was her birthday, putting her practically a week before Christmas. She tried to not make a fuss because people already fussed enough about Christmas, so she'd rather not cause them any other burdens by worrying about a birthday on top of everything else. The only ones she truly never felt like she was burdening about her birthday were her parents.

Haphazardly, she once more tried a subject change, wobbling off slightly to point at a display with rather lackluster looking jogging pants. "...um... lemme check to see the prices on those..." Yvette was the worst at hiding her embarrassment.

Tony watched her and realized his mistake. He could see her mounting discomfort and he panicked internally, hoping she was not going to shut down and stop talking to him altogether.

Dogby barked for attention, though it wasn't usually applicable to call the sounds she made barks. Small yips, excited and fast, and plenty of begging whines for attention.

Tony looked down at the dog, patting her on the head distractedly. It was enough to quiet her, at least to the point of soft whines rather than the yips.

"Your birthday!" Here he was trying to figure out what to get for Christmas for her and now he had managed to forget her birthday. His workload had just doubled, but at least now he had a good idea of what to get for her. He could stop torturing her.

He watched her go to check the prices on the pants, shaking his head. After that, he let her help him pick some reasonably priced clothes, then guided them to the check out. He imagined she had suffered enough. He offered to buy her some candy at the counter, and Dogby had smelled the pet food isle and was walking away with some dog treats for her discovery.
