It would show up a bit before Christmas, but for the first week or so, there was a bow attached, along with a giant card that read 'MERRY CHRISTMAS, TRAINEES'. The set up was in a corner of their lounge for the hall - a small cupboard that tucked neatly into the corner with two shelves. On the top was the holy grail:

A coffee machine. Made a 12 cup pitcher, programmable, also came with a hot water system. Instructions on how to use it were written out neatly and taped to the side of it. As well, several creamers, and some stirring straws had been set on the top next to it.

On the second shelf there were traveler coffee-cups - one for each trainee in a different color, each one with a little name tag written out on it - along with some little packaged creamers inside of each one of them. Cass hadn't been sure about everybody's individual tastes, but... it had been a thought that counted. People could trade if they wanted to. Though a certain pair of European Trainees would find their cups stuffed with proper tea instead.

On the third shelf, there were bags of coffee beans and a few boxes of filters to put into the machine. She'd put a lot of options out there, but one thing was certain:

Cass was 100% sure that the Trainee Hallway needed their own coffee machine for early morning missions.

Jerry had spent nearly his entire earnings, but he had no regrets. Twas the season of GIVING after all, right? And what good would anything beyond a few dollars left over for the vending machines do for him on the island? An adventure to the mall later, he had returned with countless bags and sat meticulously wrapping in blue and white paper for days before finally sneaking about to distribute said presents.

To Madison, Ennea, Petra and Reine, the tiniest of packages revealed the cell-phone charms he had discovered with glee and bought every last one of the store had held to give to all of the phoenixes:

To Jordan, an additional package, a small box wrapped in blue and silver revealed a sterling pendent:

He didn't bother wrapping Harrison's gift, although he did put blue and silver ribbons around it's neck before propping it against his door.

Up next, he had bought a case of hamantaschen for each of the hunter leaders, leaving a box outside Killzone, Clarice, Caelius, Aria, and even Dr H's offices:

Except something additional sat outside Dr H's office with a note: "Thought you'd like this!" It had made him laugh when he saw it at the store. Hopefully it would make Dr H laugh too. He seemed like a guy who liked a good guffaw. And a good tie.

Finally, it came to Candace.... well, Eight Days of Hanukkah meant Eight Presents, right? Right. And so they sat, all in silver and blue in various sizes.

First, was a book.

Second was a small glass figure.

Third was candies for Candy

Fourth was a horrible thing he seemed to think had been a good idea.

Fifth was socks. There were always socks.

Sixth was a block of Halva. If SHE didn't want it, he would gladly eat it all.

Seventh was something special that had been a huge ordeal to obtain and he prayed fit her because he had no idea what he was doing oh god.

And finally, a set of carefully picked out Earrings in a small box with a note: "I hope they compliment Atropos."

For everyone else he loved (and there were many many many), he bought extra Hamantashen and Halava for everyone!

Jude had ventured forth with the tools he needed to survive a shopping trip at the mall. It was a personal mission now that he took rather seriously. There were at least one or two individuals that he just knew what he was going to get for them because they had specifically mentioned the item in passing as something that they were missing within their lives - well mostly one person did the rest of them he was taking stabs in the dark and hoping he made a hit somewhere along the line.

First were the gifts for Molly. They were probably the easiest ones to get for him mostly because he knew these were things she wanted. The fiddle wasn't going to replace her fairly heirloom but it was certainly going to make her happy he hoped. He'd gone to some lengths to make sure the fiddle was exactly perfect looking through each selection and making the poor clerk go to the back to get one in the color that he wanted but soon enough he'd found the one he wanted to buy for Molly and then as if to put the clerk through the last bit of a ringer Jude requested a case for the fiddle that was green both in lining and on the outside. All-in-all it was probably the most expensive gift he was going to get her.

Though he wasn't done with Molly yet, as he left with the fiddle in hand (after he made sure it was well tuned) he went to a office supply shop and went through a moment of indecision before he picked up two planners for Molly, one because it was on sale and the other because it looked nice and both were green. Jude would make it a point to not tell her how much he spent on her at all. She already behaved so flustered when he brought up the idea. He just ... he wanted to make her happy.

As he started to pay for his purchases at the office supply shop he paused as he saw a few boxes of various 'Magnetic Poetry' kits and picked a couple of different one up. Susannah had always wanted some and now he was going to get her some granted right now she wasn't awake to enjoy them but ... Maybe one day she will be. For now they'd sit in his closet waiting for her. Once he paid he wandered out feeling an odd sad twinge within his chest.

For the others on his list he wasn't quite so certain he went by instinct and by what made him think of them in some fashion. As well as picking up candies for those he knew not at all just to make sure no one felt left out - wait why did that feel so important to him? No matter before he could halt the purchase it was already paid. Thus with his arms filled with various goodies he went back home to the Island, gift wrapped everything and made sure they would get to their proper places.

Molly would find her new fiddle and planners pleasantly wrapped and placed upon her desk. Don't ask how Jude got in her room while she wasn't there. He simply did. With the gift wrapped gifts was a small tag with a note attached.

So he needed to get presents for a few people ... not too hard for some, but for others, it was kinda difficult to choose something. STILL, Tedan wanted to give the friends he'd made here something for Christmas. So he headed out with his day pass and the money he'd apparently earned to search for the perfect gifts.....

The first store that caught his eye was an absolutely huge Barnes & Noble Bookstore. He had to go in, it was like a rule! But he couldn't buy things for himself .... well, okay maybe one or two books. But. Presents first. He had heard from somewhere that Wilson liked guns, so he picked up a couple of books on them for the masked trainee. Then he quickly headed over to the comics section and grabbed a couple of book-archives of his favorite webcomics. Surely Bix would love these.

On his way up to the counter, he spotted another book on display and just KNEW a couple of people he had to get it for. This was gonna be so perfect.

Next! To the mall~

He didn't know what all stores were in there but ... it was a mall in a big city. That meant it should have a wide variety of stuff. And indeed, one of the first stores he spotted when he walked in proved to be a great place to pick up a couple more gifts. The store had all kinds of plushies and really cute girly things, so it wasn't hard to find stuff he thought these particular friends would like.

Though he knew by this point that most electronics weren't going to work very well on the Island, he still couldn't resist heading into an FYE to pick up something specific for Jerry. He'd just have to hope it would work...

Then he spotted a store that sold movie posters. Only and always movie posters. HE KNEW WHAT TO GET HERE, and for who. Oh yes yes yes.

Heading out of that store and already loaded down with bags and packages, Tedan wandered into some kind of sporting goods store and ended up buying a couple of things there as well. Really, these could be used by a few people but he knew who to gift them to initially. Hopefully he'd be on the team.

And then on his way out, he passed right by a Spencer's and just KNEW he had to at least go in and look around. The same two people who had gotten a certain book also ended up with some things from there.

Now staggering around under the weight of all the stuff he'd bought, Tedan quickly ducked into a bakery sort of place and also picked up a s**t-ton of cookies to share out among everyone else that he didn't know as well (plus the friends he'd already gotten things for). Then he finally headed back, pleased with his purchases.

Syusaki
Wilson received a rather oddly-shaped package with a note on it that said: Hey, heard from somewhere you liked stuff like this so I hope you like this book! And we should also play some ball sometime okay?
Package contains: A book about guns, Basketball & hoop set & cookies

kuromeez
Gale got a rather large package that looked like a fatass tube. Taped to the outside was a note: To decorate with, have fun!
There was also a little bag of cookies beside it.
Inside the tube was The 007 Poster Collection

Bilious
Jerry got a very small package with an equally small note: Good things come in small packages? Hope you like the stuff I put on it! (also I hope it works)
Package contains: 1 Silver ipod shuffle with a whole ton of show-tunes loaded on it
There was also a baggie of cookies beside the package

Zoomutt
Julie would find a huge holiday-themed bag with a large stuffed puppy inside as well as the now-standard cookies
Her note read: Merry Christmas, figured you would love this guy!

Frigoris
Ennea got a note saying: Merry Christmas, we should go train together sometime or something!
The note was attached to a medium sized bag with cookies and some cute phone charms inside.

iloveyouDIE
Bix got a rectangular package with a note saying: Thought you might like these! They're some of my favorites.
Package contains: Cyanide & Happiness book & The Megatokyo Omnibus.
On top of the note & package is a little baggie of cookies

Bloodlust Dante
Leon received a rectangular package with a note: Merry Christmas, a*****e~ Enjoy!
Inside the package: the Dear a*****e book, which Tedan had taken the time to .... edit, further personalizing some of the letters inside, a package of mustaches and yes indeed, cookies

Drifter Jet Enduro
Otto received a package quite similar to Leon's, with a note: Take the advice of some of these! Oh and Merry Christmas haha
His package contains: The same damn book, with different letters personalized, a possibly disturbing pornament and finally, cookies.

Everyone Else
Anyone who didn't receive a personal gift got a bag of those same cookies left outside their door. Had to spread the holiday cheer, after all!

Candace had never had this much money to spend on presents before. It was amazing. And being able to go out and shop at a real mall after seven months on a mysterious, most-likely-uncharted island with minimal to no contact with the outside world had reminded her why she loved...stuff. Sure, she'd told H that she was fine with just about anything because she didn't need what she didn't have but..stuff was awesome. She loved it so. But she had to focus on her friends! Friends. Friends. She loved friends. But what could she possibly get them? If she could she would spend three grand on each of them. You get a present! And you get a present! And you! And you! Everybody gets oooooooone!

Somehow the joy formula made Candace feel like goddam Oprah.

It was difficult, Candace being picky and believing her friends deserved the very best, but she'd managed it. She'd even wrapped everything in time for them to be left for each person. Some gifts were more difficult than others merely because they were...well...heavy.

For Clarice, Candace took note of how the woman had come barging into Julie's room demanding the return of her rubber ducks. Well...if something was in Julie's room Candace now felt if one did find what they were looking for they wouldn't want it. Candace decided she was in need of new rubber ducks.

There were at least a hundred of them of varying colors and sizes, and a few of them were holiday themed; there was a Santa Claus and nine reindeer-colored ducks, including a Rudolph. The rest were just your ordinary shape in the event Clarice would want to make them look more awesome. Candace even provided her with a set of paints juuuust in case.

There was also a second box, this one contained four pairs of stockings; a simple black pair, a pair as similar to the ones Candace had ripped as she could get, another more sheer black pair with a black polka dot pattern, and for when she was feeling sassy, a pink pair.

lizbot
Clarice,
____Thank you for all of your help! I promised you a new pair of stockings, but have four instead. I couldn't help myself!
Also, I figure since Julie took your ducks you might not...even want them back if the state of her kitchen says anything about the rest of her room. Here are a few brand new ducks for you to build a magnificent army from.
________Merry Christmas!
____________Candace

Doctor H didn't receive as many material gifts as everyone else, but he didn't need to. He had only asked one simple thing of her and it wasn't exactly something Candace could wrap in a box unless...well...she put herself in a ribbon and delivered herself to him.

The thought had occurred to her and been incredibly tempting for a time. That was probably exactly what he wanted, too.

Instead, H received various sugary candies; the joy-tainted water may have helped decide on what she gave him. There were three bundles of a dozen colorful lollipops (including the ever-so-clever 'blow pop' because shut up she thought it was hilariously witty at the time), three Hershey's chocolate bars, a bag of Kisses, taffies, caramels, a small box of jellybeans and, a bag of gummi bears finally a bag of jolly rancher hard candies.

lizbot
H,
__Thinking of you quite a bit, apparently.
________Candy <3

Harrison was in dire need of a new wardrobe. She loved her best friend and all but seriously? No. Just. No. She was determined to give him more to wear than pink camo pants and a t-shirt that had seen better days. He would find a large box full of practical and fashionable clothing for him to wear, such as shirts, sweaters and pants. He was going to have more than a single t-shirt, damnit. He could keep the boots. Those were fine, she supposed. Sigh.

In a second, much smaller box was an expensive high quality sword polishing and sharpening kit.

And because her best friend was so prone to getting injured she figured a few "health potions" would do the trick. They were a novelty item but she hoped he would enjoy the humor. She got him two six packs.

In one final box was a small green-headed mushroom that turned off and on with a simple press. It was a nightlight, a green mushroom for her Luigi.

Toshihiko Two
Thirteen,
____A little something for being so supportive and awesome despite my constant crazy. You needed it after the terrible display in your closet that I found. I am disappoint, Thirteen. But more importantly, don't die on me, okay? You get hurt a lot.
I'd like to have my best friend around to spend the new year with. And the one after that. And the one after that. And so on and so forth.
________Merry Christmas, Harrison!
__________Candace

And finally...Jerry. He had been both the easiest and the most difficult. Should she get him eight things? Or one thing? Maybe an in between? She'd figured something out eventually. It had taken creativity but she managed; her music man needed an instrument. The first idea had been the trusty piano, but that would be far too difficult. A horn? No, that'd get annoying. A flute? No. Violin? By process of elimination a guitar had won out. He better appreciate it, the damn thing was heavy. But that hadn't been all she'd gotten for him. She'd also decided a guitar just wasn't enough. Her Jerry deserved the best even if he didn't realize how disappointed he should be in her.

Like Harrison, Jerry received a mushroom-shaped lamp. Except Jerry's was red instead of green; he may have started off as Peach but he was her Mario, as cheesy as that may be.

He also received several brand new sweatervests and ties that were not ridiculous and stupidly chosen in a drunken stupor.

Bilious
Jerry,
____You are, without a doubt, one of the best things to happen to me. I am so lucky to have you, Jerry. More than you may know. You are the most thoughtful, loving man I have ever known. Personally I don't think these gifts are nearly enough; if I could I would give you so much more.
Nevertheless I hope you enjoy these just the same!
________All my heart,
____________Candy

When she had finally gotten her 'big huge oh my god I need to make them the happiest ever' gifts done she had been sure to keep a little something aside to buy things for several others.

Madison received a pair of pretty white cherry blossom earrings.
Sosiqui
Madison,
____Merry Christmas! <3 Thank you for reminding me how amazing being a woman is. Maybe we'll get a chance to get pampered like that again!
________Candace

Robert would find a hat box and a long, skinny box as well. A fancy top hat and a black cane...huh. It seemed a little Jewish birdie had told her about something he'd also gotten for Robert.
Nio Love
Robert,
____Merry Christmas! I'm sure you'll find a use for these. Perhaps Jerry's gift can help.
________Candace

Jordan had been a little more difficult. They weren't as close but she felt it right to give him something after his huge generosity toward her; forgiveness for what she'd done was a big deal. Thankfully Jerry knew him so much better than she did and was willing to help her out. Here's hoping he didn't already have The Inheritance Cycle, the four Eragon novels. Dragons! His weapon was a dragon so it would be fun, right? She hoped so.
Prolixity
Jordan,
____I hope we can come to be better friends in the new year. I'm eternally grateful for the mercy and kindness you have showed me, truly I am.

Twas a few nights 'fore Christmas, and all through Deux Ex,
not a hunter was stirring, (except to have sex...)

Down one of the corridors, the sounds of wrapping paper being meticulously folded could be heard outside one of the bare white dorm rooms, tinsel and christmas lights strewn haphazardly around each and every door frame (courtesy of Julie.) The lights had long since been flicked off, leaving only the gentle glow of colored bulbs to illuminate the hall, red an green and white dominating the spectrum, the splash of blue around Jerry's door adding a different but not garish variety to the soft light's gleam. Although Christmas music continuously hummed from Julie's room several sections down, it had faded to the point of a near whisper down this particular hallway, just the barest of piano notes gently rippling past the closed, quiet rooms.

Like all the other rooms, there was no light coming from beneath Petra's door. The candle she was using was far too dim for that -- it flickered in the chilled room, barely illuminating enough for the moon-trainee to see. From where she sat in the middle of the room, hunched over the quickly growing pile of gifts, shadows spread like the petals of a flower in all different directions, undulating a little on the walls each time the candle flickered. At two am, Robert was already asleep, sprawled out under the covers in his own room, none the wiser for her disappearance. She'd slipped out as soon as his breathing had evened out, sliding out from beneath the covers and shutting the door with a gentle click behind her. Normally, she wouldn't have dreamed of it, but tonight was a little different -- she needed privacy. Although she trusted him (with her life, even,) to keep a secret, she did NOT trust him not to try to open his own present early. As it was, she wasn't sure he even knew she'd gotten him one, yet -- oh, the thought might have passed his mind, but there wasn't any concrete evidence yet. Once he knew, she had a feeling he'd tear apart everything to find and open it.

Peeling the backing off one last crimson bow, Petra straightened her back a little, brushing a strand of platinum blonde hair of her eyes, the package set neatly on her folded knees. With a certain effortless precision, she pressed it into place on top of the box, looking it over for a moment before placing it gently with the little pile of presents beside her.

On Christmas Eve, each present would appear beneath the 'community tree,' awaiting their respected owners.

Nio Love
"To: Robert
From: Petra

Merry Christmas, Bobby. I love you."

There were two presents there with Robert's name on them, although one was addressed to 'Robert and Jerry.' The first was a medium-sized box, wide in both directions but a good deal less tall, nearly flat in comparison. It was wrapped in crimson and gold paper, an elegant design swirling over its surface, topped with a brilliant gold bow. Inside, a black leather jacket lay folded among crinkly white paper, the subtle smell of new leather filling the air.

The other was a rather large box, standing to the knee and only slightly less wide -- a respectable rectangular box. It, subsequently, was wrapped in green and gold paper, a similar elegant design as the first complimenting it, clearly setting them together as a matching pair. This was the one labeled to both Jerry and Robert, (a point she hoped did not cause some dispute,) and inside the pair would find a rather impressive Karaoke machine, complete with a few cds and a screen to show off the lyrics (which would clearly not be utilized by them -- they would naturally know all the words.)

A third box lay waiting for him in her room, but she would deliver that personally.

Danse-hexe
"To: Reine"

There was no 'from' in this instance -- it seemed they followed the stereotype of twins thinking similarly, in that regard. For her sister, the box was completely white, silver snowflakes shimmering on the paper's surface, a pale blue bow neatly tying the entire thing together. It was small, no larger than a wallet and possibly only slightly thicker, and so light that one might have thought there was nothing in it. Upon opening it, a small silver cell charm was revealed -- silver horse and horseshoe. If Reine hadn't known who it was from before, she certainly did now, as clearly, it was for their ranch, back before everything that had kept them apart. With it, a little note had been written on a folded white piece of paper, the words 'for luck' written in dark blue.

Bilious
"To: Jerry
From: Petra

Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas, Four."

Besides Robert, Jerry was one of the few, if not THE only other person to receive any sort of nickname. As there had been for Robert, two presents waited for him on Christmas day (despite the fact that she knew he was Jewish, it seemed more appropriate for him to receive his presents with the others,) one being the one labeled to both him and Robert both. The former was a medium sized box, nothing particularly distinguishing about its size or shape, wrapped in an elegant red and gold paper and topped with a bow. Inside, he would find two things -- a small stack of show-tune CDs, and beneath it, a box containing a walkman. (She'd opted out of an ipod -- CDs seemed more practical, since downloading songs was likely out of the question.)

Sosiqui
"To: Madison
From: Petra"

Madison's gift could not by far be considered the smallest, however it was one of the most so, of the ones Petra had arranged under the tree. It was square, each side about the size of a hand-span, and had been wrapped in the same red-gold paper some of the others had been, twisting, elegant designs pattern in the wrapping. It was of fair weight, not abnormally heavy but certainly not feather-light, resting modestly in the hand when lifted. Inside was an old-style polaroid camera, the type that instantly produced one of those large, square photos that took a few minutes to come into focus, with tangible film instead of a card to store things on. She figured that without a place to upload the photos, a digital camera might not have been the best idea.

Frigoris
To: Ennea
From: Petra"

Next to Madison's gift, Ennea's seemed to be the matching pair, the paper enveloping the box a green and gold that perfectly complimented the red and gold of the other present. The package itself was only moderately larger than the other girl's as well, a hand-span and a half's length and half that span's width, nearly perfectly flat. Inside, a white-leather notebook lay, trimmed in gold, her division's insignia in the same gold on the cover. A journal, a sketchbook, a mission log -- it could have been any, or all three, the pages inside unlined, a pristine white.

Prolixity
"To: Jordan
From: Petra"

Jordan's gift looked much as Robert's first gift had, nearly identical with the exception that the wrapping was a green and gold combination, the perfect compliment to the red and gold of her fiance's, leaving them looking almost like a pair to be opened together. As was Robert's, it was a medium-sized box, wide in both directions but a good deal less tall, nearly flat in comparison. Inside, a black leather jacket lay folded among crinkly white paper, an identical match to the life hunter's.

demon_pachabel
"To: Cass
From: Petra

Some day I'll even teach you to ride a horse."

Cass' gift, by far, was likely the least formal of them all. That wasn't to say it wasn't handled with care -- the wrapping had been done meticulously, the large, square box enveloped crisply enough that the corners were as sharp as the box's beneath the paper. It was the paper itself which was arguably different than the rest. While the others were red or green with gold trim, with swirling christmasy designs, Cass' ... Cass' had cartoon horses and cowboy boots all over it. Inside, she would find a box, which contained an authentic brown cowboy hat.

It was clearly an inside joke. A 'Team Texas Ranger' joke.
PostPosted: Fri Dec 23, 2011 10:26 pm

Jordan had had a pretty solid idea of what he wanted to give; it was the tracking down of just the right gifts that had taken a considerable amount of time. He'd never been terribly good at wrapping presents - his attempts had generally been full of ripped paper, tangled ribbon, and tape in strange places - so the gifts had been wrapped by the mall elves, but there was a handwritten note attached to each, in predictably neat, careful handwriting.

Sosiqui
Inside the smaller of two presents was a jewelry box; inside it was a necklace, picked out to complement both Maddie's style and her weapon. The larger present proved to be a book.

The note read:
It might not be the real thing, but here are some blue skies and seas for you. Merry Christmas.

- Jordan

Frigoris
A large box awaited Ennéa; inside she would find a warm, colorful blanket and something soft folded inside it.

The attached note read:
To help make your room feel a little more comfortable. ♥ Merry Christmas!

- Jordan

Nio Love
One of Robert's gifts was in a long, flat box; a smaller, rather book-shaped present was placed on top. Inside the larger present was a bathrobe. But not just any bathrobe. It was, in fact, a Batrobe. The book-shaped present was indeed a book.

The attached note read:
So everyone else will be able to admire your innate awesome. I'd tell you not to tell Petra where the book came from, but she'd figure it out anyway. Merry Christmas, bro.

-Jordan

x_Nata_x
The smaller present addressed to Petra contained a jeweler's box; within it was an ornate pocket watch, engraved inside the cover along the curve of the edge: Petra Walker Morris. The second gift contained a book.

The accompanying note read:
The inscription might be a bit premature, but I didn't think you'd mind. Congratulations and Merry Christmas.

-Jordan

Bilious
One of Jerry's presents resembled a book, but actually wasn't. Tucked inside was another CD, the kind of sweet-voiced folk that Jordan liked. He'd originally intended to include a portable CD player with the gift, but Petra had mentioned the same intent at some point. The larger box contained a more practical gift.

The attached note was short:
Hope you like it. Happy Hanukkah - a little late.

- Jordan

danse-hexe
The smaller box addressed to Reine contained a simple silver necklace, chosen to complement Alynthe; the larger gift was a book.

The note read:
Good to see you're settling in here. I hope you enjoy these. Merry Christmas!

-Jordan

For the friends he wasn't as close to, he'd simply written "Merry Christmas" and signed each tag.

kuromeez
Gale's present contained a hair tie embossed with serpents.

iStoleYurVamps
Marcus's present was a wallet.

Bloodlust Dante
Leon's present was the same.

Eight
Candace's gift was a silk scarf.

The rest of the trainees got small boxes of chocolate, with neatly tied red and green ribbons.

One present, however, wasn't signed. Jordan felt that the intended recipient might take the gesture the wrong way.

Zoomutt
A nicely wrapped box addressed to Julie held a box of chocolates, a bottle of Advil, a terrible romance novel, and a package of prettily embroidered handkerchiefs. The back of the tag read The rest of the list?

One day. He had one day to spend in the outside world. It didn’t seem like enough allotted time, but at the same time it felt like plenty. Wilson spent an hour walking through a gun shop. In fact, the young man had spent ten minutes merely to ogle the artillery displayed in the front. He stared at one of the new rifles with longing eyes. Tentatively, he reached out for it, but then thought better and shook his head. Normal rifles were of no use on the island. It would only collect dust in his room and be an absolute waste of a perfectly functional rifle. Plus guns were pretty damn expensive. He tried not to flip a table when he recalled how much money he had on hand. Ughhhh that beautiful gun

Wilson hastily shuffled out of the shop before he did something he would regret.

Strolling through the mall, he mentally smacked himself. Okay, time to do some holiday shopping! He went through his mental checklist—hopefully he would everyone he wanted to get presents for—and opted to start with Ryan’s present.

OnionGrump
To be honest, Wilson hadn’t known what to get the younger trainee at first. He was kind of bad at this whole present shopping business, but as he passed by a pet shop a brilliant idea struck him. Despite its simplicity, he was forced to scramble around the mall for the necessary materials. Some glue, beads, and glitter—and then viola!

Ryan, meet Sir Yan’s wife, Mrs. Yan! Wilson attached a note to the pet rock that read Treat her nicely, okay? <3

After he wrapped Ryan’s present in an unsuspecting box, puffy ribbon and all, Wilson decided to tackle Kat’s present next.

LividPeas
Figuring out Kat’s present had been easier than Ryan’s, almost painfully so. He entered the first toy store he found. Wilson forced back an awkward smile at the odd looks he received from children when he went into the aisle filled with plushies. He stared at all the plushies that lined the shelves. While a few had caught his eye, one in particular got his full attention. Perplexed, he picked it up and stared at it. What the heck was this thing? Wilson figured it was probably some meme thing, but what was it doing in a toy store? Oh well. He bought it anyways. A cat for Kat (haha he made a funny) was exactly what he was looking for.

Blade Kuroda
As he made his way to the register he passed by a display of figures, but quickly backtracked when something familiar caught his eye. “Woah! Is that Derryk?” Hahaha very funny. Clearly Wilson had stumbled upon an Altair figure toy. The uncanny resemblance really made the trainee wonder who had given Derryk the coat because clearly that person loved Assassin’s Creed, and the other Death trainee probably did too, so Wilson bought it as well.

Nyxtsuki Moon
Then he passed by another aisle and Wilson figured why the heck not.

Toting the bag filled with toys, Wilson opted to drop Ryan’s present in the bag as well so he wouldn’t be walking around the mall with occupied hands.

Shia bean
Wilson figured he should also get Minerva something. They had gone out together to have some tea and she seemed to like cooking and such, so maybe he could get her something food related. Swallowing his pride, he entered a store filled with accessories and other clothes for girls. God, it was so awkward to be in there without a girl accompanying. Ignore the stares. Ignore the stares—oh. These were pretty and uh, cute, right? He had no idea which one to pick so he just took a couple.

Once he walked out of the store he frowned and stared at his stomach. Buying Minerva’s present had reminded Wilson that he was kind of hungry. Bags in hand, he went over to the food court and spent a few minutes eating a corn dog and some cookies. Man. He had forgotten how fun spending a day at the mall could be. Well, he had been asleep for about half a year, and that didn’t include the examinations and his month after awakening.

Once he finished, he passed by a bookstore and immediately went in.

Manda
He didn’t know if Tedan liked reading books, but hopefully he did because Wilson was going to get him books whether he liked them or not. Spotting an all too familiar of a book he shuddered when he recalled his Aunt Nana forcing him to read it. He decided Tedan should share the same pain joy. And then he bought another for the heck of it. Then Wilson felt guilty about trolling the poor guy and got him some Robert Heinlein too.

Trira
Since he was in the bookstore he decided to buy some books for Vanessa too. Hmm. Her weapon liked jokes, right? Hopefully she wouldn’t be too miffed. At least he got her Lord of the Flies too. It seemed like a good choice. Boys on a stranded island. Hunters on a remote island…PARALELLS.

And then Wilson bought some books for himself because he should stop abhorring them (and wrapping paper ughh noooo).

EVERYONE ELSE
Afterwards Wilson used up the rest of his money to buy candy and cookies. Baked goods were always good.

Harrison knew a lot of people, but he'd spent a lot of time with just a few of them. He'd never had so much money before. And he didn't even have bills to pay! Electric, heating, room and board, food- all that was taken care of. Luxury items that didn't fall under contraband was about all he had to take care of, and he was happy to be able to give someone a Christmas gift that wasn't...cheap or homemade.

Eight

Harrison knew what he wanted to get Candace almost immediately. Something practical, and something she could use. Since her legs kept getting all bruised up, and since nobody else in the department had killer ice skates that she could get tips from, wrapped up a kickboxing tape and some purple and black shinguards.

Bilious

He didn't know too much about music, so he went with a staple for Jerry. A Hohner's Marine Band 1896 Harmonica (Key of C) wrapped up in a warm pair of socks.

Pales

For Jude, he got a snowman bow tie, wrapped up in festive paper. He put that aside for Christmas Eve so Jude would have it for the gala.

lizbot

Clarice was harder. He looked up to her, but what she wanted or needed, he didn't know. As far as he knew Clarice liked- well, mostly the same kinds of things he liked. Things that were stabby, things that were pink, and a whole lot of techno-science stuff that he didn't understand at all. So after a lot of deliberation, he got her a combination. Except instead of a baby fuzzy thing, he put all four Die Hard movies inside. Because it was Christmas.

Shocking discovery: Robert was a terrible shopper. He'd spent all of his own money on Petra's ring, and now all he had was Jeremy's money left, since the man had given it to him before he'd left. So, when he came home laden with gifts, they weren't really what you might consider.. premium quality Christmas shopping.

In fact, he'd done most of his shopping at CVS. Or Spencers.

Jerry got some ScarAway. Robert had considered this his best purchase of the trip. Jerry would find the box crudely wrapped and waiting by his door. The note attached said something intelligible. A few words were readable -

"* *** THIS AND THOT ** U. *** robert"

--------

Jordan's gift wasn't as personal, but Robert thought it looked fun all the same. It, too, was crudely wrapped with a badly written message taped to it.

"this s**t loks tite **** **** ** for **** we mayk u stres out *** robert"

Leon got a blow up doll.

So did Candace.

--------

Madison got a bit of special attention. After all, she was his little darling, and he had to make sure he got her things that she would truly appreciate. Unfortunately, Robert did not think like a woman, and therefore had a bit of trouble understanding what Madison would have liked.

She received several gifts, because every time he saw something he thought she would like, he'd snag it. She got one of these, and some of this, and one of these, and this, and this too. He shoved everything into one giant box, forced a saleswoman to wrap and bow it beautifully, and carted it off to leave it at her dorm.

Sosiqui

--------

Robert was legitimately at a loss as to what to get Ennea for Christmas. When he started shopping for her, he realized just how little he knew about his fellow Phoenix, and it broke his heart a little. His New Years resolution would be to fix that, but for now.. he just picked out something expensive to make up for his lack of knowledge. At least, it looked expensive. He didn't read the box. But electronics were always a good gift. He also got her one of these to match Madison's... because they were ******** awesome.

Frigoris

--------

He thought it kind of weird to buy Jeremy a Christmas present with his own money.. but what he didn't know, couldn't hurt him, right?

Besides, who would say no to this?

Otto seemed like a fun guy. He would appreciate a fun gift, right?

Right.

Robert spent about an hour looking through the department store jewelry section for something Reine might have appreciated. It couldn't be diamonds, that would be inappropriate. It couldn't be cheap, either - she needed to know he still cared about her. Plus, she was so random. There was no way to tell what she liked anymore..

After an entire hour of making the kind of face one should only make when you are dropping a very stubborn load, he settled on a colorful piece for her. He had the salesclerk wrap this gift, so it wouldn't look bad like the ones he did.

The note on the little card they gave him to write in, said the following:

"i hope u lyke it. pleaz be hapi. luv robert"

danse-hexe

--------

Robert felt a little silly, buying something for Eva from the same store he'd shopping for Reine and Poe at. He hardly knew the girl, but when he was walking up to the counter, he saw a charm that made him think of her. It wasn't flashy, or expensive, or even a big deal. But it still made him feel a little embarrassed, for some reason. For the life of him, he couldn't figure out why.

Kaiyumi

--------

Ah, Poe. She'd kept herself hidden for months now, and would probably continue to do so until the day she needed to hit him up for some favor. She wanted nothing to do with him, and it broke his heart - but at this point, he was getting used to women hating on him. It was just part of the business, nowadays.

So he bought his sister a present, anyway. Or rather, a few presents, since he'd thought of her often as he strolled through Spencers. Poe deserved something to remind her of just how manly she really was, but in the end he'd managed to score an actual gift along the way. Corny? Hell yes. Cheesy? Dripping with it. Did he mean it?

Of course.

Clarice didn't know Petra that well, but she had a feeling she should thank the other woman for keeping Life's least favoured occupied and away from various delicate and dangerous projects. While there was a distinct chance that Petra actually enjoyed this, Clarice felt thankful nonetheless.

She didn't give the other woman a gift, though, but several days after Christmas, Petra would find herself with a mission. This particular mission would take her to rather upscale spa resort in Italy with instructions to thoroughly investigate the facilities for ghost activity, observe a scenic sunset, provide a review of the cuisine, make sure the pool boys were not carrying weapons on their persons, and to tip only using the provided currency. The nice part about this was that it was an actual information drop, a legit mission, and could thus be billed to Deus. Clarice felt pretty badass for arranging it and would bask in the glow of how amazing she was for days to come.

Robert got a stack of coloring and activity books, along with a big box of crayons.
