Aoife (A - oh - fee) Gale

User Image Snap.
Aoife opened her eyes and looked over at the ground, the sun was slowly rising above the tips of the trees, annoucing the morning in multiple shades of yellow and orange, but even this cover won't last long. She scanned for any subtle or foregin movement in the grass below, Aoife had become lax as of late, and wasn't about to let another scrap of food slip past her.
"There you are..." She mumbled softly, spotting a large rabbit muching off on a patch of small grass. Her bow quickly grew heavy, as if it was becoming impatient, wanting to slaughter the tiny creature below her. Aoife sighed and slid a arrow in the notch of the bow, a common gesture for her now, but lately, it had become more and more...lacking? Yes, that maybe the correct term. The thrill was slowly fading away, the game in the forest is the same, never anything new. But either way, food is food, no matter how boring the attempt is in achieving it. Aoife inhaled slowly and pulled back; the strain of the bow crackling softly in her ear brought a slight smile on her lips as the world seem to warp into silence.
Three...two...one...
Aoife quickly released her grip on the deadly arrow watched it embed itself inside the rabbit, it let out a choked cry, then went limp on the forest floor.
"That makes number six..." she thought aloud, then jumpped down to claim her prize.

Tonight I'm so alone
This sorrow takes a hold
Don't leave me here so cold

╔═++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
There are no words that can excuse...

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ═╝

Falling in the black
Slipping through the cracks

+++++ Jayden let out a low curse as the sunlight hit his eyes. He really needed to find a better place to sleep than in a tree. After all theses years you'd think he would have built himself a house, but no. Guess I should get up, he thought, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.

+++++ Carefully, he sat up. The forest was quiet today, not even birds were chirping. That's strange...Somethings obviously not right. He climbed down the tree quickly, having made the trip multiple times. He couldn't see anything, but that didn't mean it wasn't there. He had his broad swords out in a flash and started patrolling the area. It wasn't easy considering he couldn't sense anyone he didn't know and he knew very few people.

+++++ He was about to give up when he stumbled across a rabbit with an arrow sticking out of it. He quickly went into a defensive position. It was more than likely the hunter was still around. Hopefully they won't shoot me, he thought, looking at the arrow.

Falling to the depths can I ever go back
Dreaming of the way it used to be

╔═++++++++++++++++++++++++
...all the mistakes that I've made.

Don't leave me alone
Cause I barely see at all
Don't leave me alone,

※ Wild horses, I want to be like you
Throwing caution to the wind, I’ll run free too

Laurel waited for a long moment, gazing out into open space, watching the familiar countryside, both absorbed in her thoughts and awaiting an answer from Yang, if one was to come. Below the excitement that bubbled on the surface of her mind was something deeper- a sense of fate, or destiny . . .of purpose. Now, she wasn't just a girl, idling in her parent's care . . . like Ma and Da, she had a task now. Something to work for, something real. Yang would be relying on her . . . would need her. Ma and Da cared for her, loved her, and doted on her . . . but in town, there was nothing that needed her, really. Now, it was all different.

When it became apparent that Yang had nothing left to say to that final grave statement she turned to smile at him.

“I'll meet you here, tomorrow morning . . . so you had better not leave without me.” She told him, face set stubbornly, a bit pointed.

“Don't worry too much.” She added, shifting her pack to her shoulder. “Bye!” She said, and then turned, heading back the way she came.

Deep in the forest between Yang's home and her own, she stopped at a stream and perched herself on a huge boulder. Despite the sense of urgency, faded slightly now, she couldn't resist stopping her. Carefully, she pulled her pencils out of her pack, and her sketchbook, finding a flat spot of rock to set the case of pencils on. She stayed, long enough to sketch the river and the outlines of the nearest trees. thoughts of the day fading out in favor of the shapes that made up the landscape. When she was satisfied that she had the general idea down, she shut the book, repacked her things, and headed home, mentally listing her preparations for the next day.

"I was made to destroy"
..What's beautiful in this world..."

Yang Kaido User Image

Yang watched as Laurel went to leave, and twinged slightly when she told him not to leave without her, he had thought about that, but decided against it. He was pretty sure that if he did she would just follow him alone until she caught up or worse happened to her being that she'd be journeying alone. He would have to wait for her. He journeyed back into his home and lay down in his bed. The small cottage was all that he had known for nearly a decade...he was now going to be going back to the city to destroy everything that he was made for.

Before he knew what happened he was waking up, just as the sun passed over the horizon into his window. He woke like normal, journeyed outside and bathed from a bucket of water that he took out to the back washing himself off as he had done since he was a kid. He ventured out to the open area in front of his home and began his normal training regimen. His frustration being let out with each thrust of his fist, a small grunt of exhale confirming his motions. With each movement he could feel the jolts of electricity in his body build. Sweat flinging from his body.

He came to a single stance, feet shoulder width apart, his fist balled tightly and gloved down just past his waist, he turned his head and looked to his left bringing his left arm up to just by his his head, his muscle flexing his tatto shown and as he did so red lightning trailing from his hand curving to his arm. His right arm was straightened and crossing his body to his left just passing underneath his left elbow, lightning forming from that hand as well. The streaks of electricity launched from every direction Yang holding on to as much as he could, controlling it, bringing it to a single focused point, the streams of electricity took focus as he brought his right hand back by his abdomen his fist curled palm up. Then with a single thrust he pushed forward stepping into the earth harshly, his fist rotating and with a great push, the lighting surged forward over the hill striking out into the air and traveling a great distance before dissipating. Yang was strong now, stronger that he had ever been and those who had cursed him with this power, the ones who forced his mother and he into exile, they would pay dearly for their sins.

※ Wild horses, I want to be like you
Throwing caution to the wind, I’ll run free too

Laurel woke up before the dawn. It was chilly, as it always was before the sun rose. On the street side of the house, she knew people were up and moving around; the town rose early. However, her window looked out on the back yard, an expanse of green grass traversed by dirt paths, marked by bricks. The roses ran wild along the walls of the house, and the herb garden occupied a nearby plot of earth- it was the secret to Ma's bread. Laurel's lips pinched. 'Will I ever see if again?' she wondered. She longed to roam, and had commited herself, and yet, she knew she would miss this place. There was no telling if she'd ever be able to come back . . . with a shake of her head, she shoved those thoughts back. She would find her way back someday, if only to visit Ma and Da . . . she had to.

With a soft sigh, she set about combing out her hair, plaiting all of it's silver length sensibly back, draping it over her shoulder. That done she stepped into the sensible leggings and tunic she had set out. The last garment were the good boots Da had presented her with on her last birthday. All black leather that ended just below her knees, they were both beautiful and expensive; the prize among that year's gifts. He had professed them riding boots, and Laurel had worn them the very next day riding with him . . . she didn't do as well on the horses, as they were trained by those who could commune with them, unlike her. All the same, for Da she had gone. And now, for the first time, they would be of real service.

Ma was already gone for the day, as promised at dinner the night before, and Da was still sleeping. Tip-toeing, she left the letter on the kitchen table. She didn't tell them where she was going . . . nor her real purpose. Only that a friend needed her for work . . . a good job. She had to leave early, she hoped they understood . . . she signed off with her love, and a promise to return. A sensible request that they not search, or worry. No need for them to grieve . . . she would come back one day, and tell them face to face. For now, it was best. With a last glance, she collected the bags she had packed the night previous.

They contained more leggings and tunics, shirts, underthings, and even her favorite dress. If she had to go into a town, there was no sense in looking like a wild roughian. Beside it were two big loaves of Ma's hearty bread, two fresh apples, packets of nuts, and dried fruit, and a heavy paper package, sealed with wax that held the heavily salted meat they kept in the darkroom. Wrapped in oilskins were her sketchbook, her drawing things, and the huge folio of all her maps, some that she had drawn, and more that she had found, bought, and been given.

The last pile of things, she eyes with a slight uncertainty. In it, was all her tack, and the things she used to care for Senna, the pony she often rode. Senna wasn't precisely hers. Half the time Da cared for her, officially as a favor, and actually, for the pleasure it brought him. It was Senna who carried packs for her when she first started wandering, her parents' idea of a chaperon. In the end, she decided to scoop up the tackle, and took it with her outside. All her things went into the saddle bags, except for her small sling, which she fastened atop the saddle, after she had gotten Senna ready. Her snorted breath plumed in the air as the morning started to grow paler.

By the time she got to Yang's valley, the sun had broken over the treetops and began to warm the air. As she approached from the distance, she could make out his silhouette, moving through motions. As she came over a slight hill, she could see that he was training. While she knew that he did train, both because she had been told, and because of his build, she had yet to see him at it. As quiet a possible, she approached, trying not to disturb him. As she drew up, leading Senna by the reigns, his routine built to it's height, and then, she was amazed to see crackling threads of lightening spark into existence along his arms and hands. Unlike the kind that came from the skies, it was red, streaking away from him in all directions while the core bolts ran along his limbs. Firmly, she calmed Senna, who was looking as if to shy, her dark flanks spotted with sweat, eyes rolling.

Then, with a might thrust, he sent the lightening flying in a wild streak out across the air. It crackled in an eye-searing banner, but Laurel could only watch for a moment before Senna whinnied, drawing her attention. She turned, holding her head and calming her.
Lucky, she thought, That she's only a pony . . . if she was as tall as the horses, I'd have trouble. Considering that the horse's head was about level with Laurel's head, restraining her was a small struggle. Even as she patted her, the hairs at the back of her neck prickled- she had never loved lightening, and being so close to it was unsettling- she didn't entirely blame the horse. But, she ignored the unrest in her stomach.

“Sorry!” She called over to Yang, pulling Senna up the hill toward him. “I've never seen anything like that before . . . neither has she.” She told him, slight excitement and nerves showing. She hoped she looked ready enough . . . it felt strange, not having her hair near her face to hide behind.

“This is Senna . . . she'll carry our packs.” Laurel explained, patting the wary animal's hide. “So long as you don't mind . . . if you'd prefer, I can send her home. She knows the way.” Laurel added. She probably should have asked before adding a third member to their group, even if it was a pack horse.

"I was made to destroy"

As Yang exhaled from the blow, his fist still gave off a slight trail of smoke. He heard the neighing of a horse before he jumped back to an alert status and finally saw Laurel with a pony approaching. He had to admit a pony seemed to fit her perfectly but it was probably a bad idea to bring it along.

"I don't think it'd be good to take a horse into the city, or even towards the city. Mom always used to say the humans will eat any meat they can find."

He picked up a ribbed undershirt like the ones he usually wore and slid it over his head tucking it neatly into his pants. He picked up a small bag of all his belongings and flung it over his shoulders. He began to walk past Laurel and towards the direction of Arcadia, his homeland as he did he looked back to Laurel.

"Let's go, Laurel"

Laurel couldn't help staring a little at the smoke trailing from Yang's fist. It was one thing to know he was an Erinyes, but seeing the display of power was completely different. If there were fights ahead of them, maybe it really was best not to bring poor Senna . . . she was a docile pony, used to light riding, not heavy travel and battles. At the second half of Yang's statement her eyes went wide- eat her? Yang thought the humans might eat Senna? They must really be monsters, she thought, upset by the idea of anyone eating a horse.

“That's horrid.” She told him, clearly appalled, and then began to hurriedly take all of the packs out of the saddle bags, piling them on the ground at her feet. For a moment, her eyes watered- having Senna along would have been a comfort. But, quickly, she blinked the dampness away, pulling herself upright. Steeling herself, she smacked Senna's rump, sending the pony off into the forest. She watched her go for a minute. Then she turned back to Yang with a determined smile, shouldering her packs.

“You know the way?” Laurel asked, following in the direction he lead her.

As Laurels face changed to a look of horror at the fact that humans might eat her beloved pony Yang though maybe there was a gentler way he could have said it, after all she still was a nature loving Seraph. She seemed sad to make the pony leave but then again it would be a dead giveaway as to her identity when they reached any human or worse...and Erinyes. If she was coming with him Yang had already vowed to himself that he would be destroyed before any harm came to the woman.

He walked over to where she was along the way picking up his own large but barely packed rucksack. He packed in it as many of the packs as she had brought in it as he could, he had figured she would bring more things which is why he went with a bigger bag now. He pulled it over his right shoulder and held the strap with his right hand as he looked at his home once more over his shoulder. "Mom..." he thought silently to himself his sadness portrayed in his eyes, "It ends with me..."

Khiry Halevy

Khiry and his feline friend Belle sat on the rooftop of the ram-shackle shack they called their home. It wasn't the biggest or the nicest place, but it was home. The young man sat with the music from his headphones blasting in his ears and staring up at the sky, while Belle lay curled up in his lap asleep. He was... bored. Nothing interesting had happened as of late and all he had been doing everyday for the past week was the same. Get up in the morning, eat breakfast, feed Belle, go for a walk, eat lunch, play with Belle, eat dinner, stare up at the sky on the roof, go to bed.

For once, in a long time, he wanted to do something... Fun. Not his definition of fun -- staying outside all day and just relaxing, but a 'normal' person's definition. Doing something dangerous, out there, interesting, fun. Just even thinking of this caused Belle to wake up and looked up at Khiry with her moss green eyes, a puzzled look on her face. She could sense that he was planning something... But what?

Laurel almost protested when Yang began to fit her bags into his much larger pack, but she stopped. They were going to be doing a lot of walking from here, and she knew he was stronger than her- even if his unmistakable musculature had not been evident, she knew that like any Erinyes, he had metal-fused bones. And, she added mentally, he had trained hard. Taken this kind of journey before. Glancing at him out of the corner of her eyes, she tried to imagine what he had been forced to endure in the human world that made him so determined to destroy his own kind, their weapon.

Laurel had never met- not even seen, or heard of- an Erinyes other than Yang. Like any Seraph child, she knew that they existed of course . . . but that wasn't the same as experience, she reasoned. As Yang proved, just being an Erinyes didn't make one a monster, just like being a Seraph hardly guaranteed that one was good, she thought, distastefully remembering a few individuals back in town. At the back of her mind, there was the niggling of doubt. Yang, she knew for certain, was good . . .. what was to say that none of the others were good? It was the humans who created the Erinyes as weapons, who wanted to destroy nature . . . how could anyone guarantee that the Erinyes were all willing supporters of their cause? And who even knew what the humans were planning any more?

With a decisive movement she straightened her tunic, and then her shoulders. There was only one way to know the truth- to go find out. She settled her back across both shoulders, watching Yang's face as he looked over the little valley and hill. After a long silent moment, she stepped up, giving him a confident smile, eyes understandingly gentle.

“oh.” She said quietly, riffling in her pack for a second, hurriedly, before pulling out the packet of maps. “I found all the maps I could.” She explained, unfolding the largest one she had- even this one didn't have Arcadia on it. She pointed to a spot near the edge of the woods “We're here . . . do you know which way?” she asked, looking expectantly up at him, eyes trusting. It never occurred to her to doubt him for a second.

Vancha yawned, his sharpened teeth gleaming. He hated having patrol during the day. It always seemed like nothing happened. Just people going from place to place. Not to mention he wasn't able to move as freely as he was at night. His black uniform stuck out against the primarily white city walls and people always came up to him complaining about one thing or another. He knew it was his job to protect the city and police the people, but he didn't think that meant he'd have to listen to them constantly. Sometimes I wish I could kill all of you, he thought, looking down at the people sitting in a park near by. He could see most of the city from the spire he was sitting on top of. Sighing, he turned jumping down onto a couple buildings till he was in the housing district. He didn't want to be near the crowded parks or shops, lest the temptation to hurt someone grew. The last thing he wanted was another punishment.

"Now, what to do?" He said, looking around at the houses near by.

☣At night I feel like a vampire,
It's not right but I just can't give it up...

Yang looked out from the hilltop, he only had a general idea of where they needed to go. The city was something that he dreaded. When he and his mother escaped it was under cover of night. He knew what direction to head though and so he walked over to Laurel and peered over her shoulder, closer than he normally got but he was focused more on the map and wasn't considerate of the distance.

He reached around her, his bicep less than an inch from her arms as his gloved hand pointed at an area of the map that she had that looked different from the rest, the area itself had no describing features because it was unexplored by Seraph for the very reason that humans lived there.

"That's it right there."

Yang from the map looked up and outwards into the expansive forest that lay ahead, they would have to cross the ruins of Old City and make their way through the forest, then they would come upon the city of his birth and the beginning of the end. Arcadia. Yang walked past her and out to the edge of the hill, without looking back he spoke.

"Last chance to turn back, Laurel. Are you with me?"
