I believe the correct term is "Elves".
Also, as elves (non drow but wild or moon) are in tune with the nature, their "pets" are more of companions and friends to them.

I'm sure some animals are pets... like bunnies usually are a little too stupid to be companions... <,<`
We probably have familure/companions and also pets. =3
Its really based upon the link/bond between the elf and the animal and also the animals intelligence. XD

However, it varies from society to society about how the elven community goes about tehir pets. In some it's optional, in others it religious, such as an animal being assigned to an elf at birth or an elf having to go through a special ritual to recieve one.
Their bonds vary from mental linking to verbal (each understands the other).
