Anna took a deep breath, all ready to let him have it, when suddenly the smallest, ittiest, bittiest apology ever made its way out of his mouth.
She stopped.
After a moment, she closed her mouth.
"You... you're sorry?" she said, warily.

The canines ears twitched a bit. He couldn't look at her directly with out melting a bit on the inside and feeling bad. So, Neil instead looked down at the murky slimey swamp and nodded. That sorry had taken a lot from him, but he felt better now. A little better at least.

Anna had no idea what to do now - the apology had taken all the angry wind out of her sails. "I, um... w-well, okay! Don't do it again," she said, but there was no vitriol in her words. Just confusion. Did he actually mean he was sorry for real, or was he just waiting for her to drop her guard?
"What were you doing out here, anyway?"

"Noted," He smirked now looking down at her with his red eyes. He had a much softer look on his face then before. His features were slightly kinder, but there was still something pretty grim about him.
"I should be asking you the same. Don't you know that ghouls who wander off in the swamp are susceptible to being splashed by big bad wolves? And eaten?" His tone was mock serious in a teasing way. Some one who didn't know him might take him completely serious though. His crossed arms stayed folded tightly against his chest. He looked off to the side as if he was disappointed in Anna.

"I was gathering herbs! It's a witch thing," she said, a little bit defensively. "Anyway, I can take care of myself. I grew up in the country, you know!" She brandished the bucket - not at him, specifically, but it was fairly evident that despite her usually frilly appearance, she had no problem with whanging a bucket into someone's face.

"A witch thing huh?" He sounded bored. He was eyeing the bucket with great interest in what exactly Anna was thinking. He couldn't tell even with the clear hint of her letting him know she could take care of her self.
"I'm sure you can. You'd cry at your attacker for being a jerk and splashing you," He was teasing her and trying to be playful but some how he failed and came off sounding more like a jerk then before. Still, there was tail wagging.

"That's for people who try to eat me," Anna said, glaring at him. "You just splashed me. And you're a student, not like... a wild animal or something. So you don't get the bucket unless you earn it."
It was pretty clear she considered him just a very small step above wild animal status, though. And that he might, in fact, be earning the bucket.

Neil did not want to earn the bucket. The boil couldn't help but stare at the bucket in Anna's hands with caution.
"Hey." He held his hands up, "I promise I'd never try to eat you or any student." There was a small smirk hidden some where under that slime and muck. "I think I might starve if I ever tried to eat you any how." His tone was serious but he was kidding around. The gimblewolf was starting for the shore now turning his back to the witch.

"Well... well good! See that you don't," Anna said, nonplussed. He seemed to be going away now, which was just fine as far as she was concerned. Maybe the bucket had frightened him off?
Maybe she should bring the bucket to acting class next time?

It would seem that Neil was off for now. He looked completely rediculous as he climbed up the path back to campus dripping the whole time with muck and other goo. The only thing that remained of the gimblewolf were two shoes awkwardly floating in the sludge. It was possible that Neil did not know what recycling meant. (Fin?))

Hmph. She'd showed him, all right. Angrily, Anna kicked at the shoes, sending them flying in a spray of water and mud. Then she shook the muck out of her bucket and sighed. All her hard work, wasted...
Well. She'd just have to keep going. Stubbornly, the witchling scraped some of the muck off her face and kept going, squelching forward in search of a few more precious herbs.
Hmph.
