All Hallow's Eve is near. The appearance of pumpkins, witches, skeletons and other Halloween-themed decorations have set the mood for the coming festival for quite some time from now in shop fronts, schools, and so on. Costumes are selling high, as well as candies and pumpkins. Gossips is spreading in streets and school halls; who will have the scariest, most cool Halloween party? Who's coming and who will be wearing which costume?

What are your character's plans for Halloween? Have they been invited to a big party? Are they one holding one themselves? Are they going to trick-or-treating? Or are they spending the Halloween night at home, perhaps scaring the poor trick-or-treaters away? Have they already bought their costume or are they still struggling with it?

By mid-October, the fall season is in full swing, and nowhere is this more apparent than in the mountains set majestically in the city’s view. Destiny City might have its fair share of fall themed decorations, and pranks and advertisements for the upcoming Halloween activities, but the mountains alone offer a true taste of fall. The students at Azure in particular enjoy quite the spectacular scene, as the Appalachians become awash with color—vivid reds, lush golds, and bright yellows that draw the eye and beckon the city’s inhabitants to its many trails, perfect for the annual leaf viewing.

You might decide to take a trip up the mountains for just that purpose. Perhaps you’d like to enjoy the mountain trails as the weather continues to cool. The fresh mountain air could certainly do our city-dwellers some good! There are petting zoos and nature centers for interested parties. You might even fancy a day of bouldering or caving, and in the valleys the apple orchards are ready for picking. Stop and rest with some hot apple cider!

Get out and stretch your legs! Head up for the day, make a weekend of it and stay overnight in a rented cabin or one of the many quaint bed and breakfasts that dot the mountainside, visit with family or make a romantic date of it, or even take some time to go it alone! The mountains have something for everyone, whether it’s a day of adventure or the much needed peace and quiet of nature not always possible in such a bustling, war-torn city!

Exams.

That single word has enough power to terrify even the most dutiful of students. Stronger than senshi magic, knight magic, and Negaverse weapons, exams tend to have just as dramatic an effect on the lives of our various heroes as a night of patrol or a battle of “good” vs. “evil” in space! Try as they might to change their circumstances, one cannot forget that a majority of our heroes are also, unfortunately, students. The end of the semester brings with it projects, presentations, term papers, and cumulative examinations that often put the various school campuses around Destiny City in a frenzy. Are you ready? Spent any nights cramming? Pulled an all-nighter yet? Are you concerned about your grades? Have endless nights of patrol begun to take effect? Procrastination taking its toll? Or have you battled through and kept on top of things?

Remember, why do today what can be put off until tomorrow?

Wait, no, that isn’t right.

Spring is all but over and summer is coming on fast…there’s always good things about summer; Swimming pools, ice cream and no school being among the top three. Though, there’s always that one pesky part of summer that’s always completely overbearing and nobody can really do anything about it and that’s the heat. And this summer the unthinkable has happened, your air conditioner has broken! What are you going to do now that you don’t have the cool refreshing relief of rushing inside and cooling off?

Summer vacation has simply flown by and August has snuck up on you. With just a few short weeks until the start of school it's a mad dash to get through your list of summer do's. This weekend the big theme parks all seem to be advertising specials and what better way to spend the one of the last few weekends of vacation! Will you gather up a group of friends and try to conquer all the monster coasters? Or are you more lazy river, wave pool, water slides galore? Possibly both?

The first month of school is over and done but the second month promises to be something else and you'd really like a break. Turns out you've got a really awesome teacher and they've given you homework. Homework?!? Yes, homework.

Do one of the folllowing by Friday:

1. Master Kung Fu, 2. Switch religions for a day, 3. Wear a fake mustache for 24hrs, 4. End world hunger, 5. Find your nemesis, earn their trust, then vanquish them, preferably with magic, 6. In the shower, use conditioner first, then shampoo, just to see what would happen (I'm curious).

Awesome, right? How do you feel about this teacher, their methods, this homework? And more importantly, do you actually attempt said assignment?

Summer, a season of light and life.

With the new year now half gone, you've had the time to execute or reconsider some of your yearly resolutions, and with summer almost upon you it seems as good a time as any to look ahead into the future to establish or reaffirm some of your goals! As the school year draws to a close, some teachers have required brief end-of-term papers, asking their students to examine their resolutions and judge their progress so far. How have you managed? What will you do in the next year to reach your goals? Do you have any fears for the future? Any overwhelming uncertainty?

In January social media sites became flooded with posts repeating many of the same messages promised the previous year. Do those still hold true? Perhaps you've changed your mind and realized your goals from almost half a year ago were a bit far-fetched, or maybe you've decided you hadn't been looking far enough ahead. It seems the future, no matter the time of year, is always in question. What will yours be like? Where do you belong in it?

One can never know anything with certainty. But it never hurts to hope, and our dreams only make those hopes stronger.

So, too, do our fears.
