...mini golf.
Something in Roch's head has seen mini golf and thought 'Taryn would really enjoy this!' Something in Roch's head was clearly very, very broken. Not only had the chimera never gone golfing before, she had no desire to. It was very nearly a sport, and she was no good at sports. She had never seen a gold course and thought, wow. This might be fun! Then again, maybe it could be? Roch had a pretty decent idea of fun and hadn't led her wrong so far.
After a moment of total shock as she surveyed the room, Taryn grinned up at Roch and gave an unexpectedly honest excited bounce. "I've never played before..."

"Me neither," Roch admitted, heading for the door. "Let's take a bet over who wins, whaddaya say? If I win you gotta make me a cupcake for every day for a MONTH," he decided. "In different flavors!" He held the door open for her, grinning in anticipation. "With extra frosting."

Taryn snorted and shook her head.
"Nice try, but I know you're going to win, and I don't have time for 31 different cupcakes. If you win, you..." This was hard! The chimera ghoul had never made a bet before, and she wasn't entirely sure how high the stakes should be. "I'll make you a cake. Just for you. A big one. Whatever kind you want. If I win..." Of course, the chances were she'd make Roch a cake at some point anyway. She hesitated not for the quality of the bet, though, but for the other things that popped into her mind. What could Roch do if she won? Ohoho...
"You have to play me a song." Booooo. Taryn's confidence wasn't the best, and it made more sense to her to make it a fair bet, instead of one that might make the friendship... awkward. She stepped inside and hugged herself, feeling vulnerable even in the dim light, and looked around the room again. Alright... how did they do this?

He rolled his eyes. "Gotta ask for something bigger than that!" he said, heading to the counter to buy their tickets. He was handed two neon colored golf clubs and balls. He handed her the green ones and kept the purple for himself, which got him an odd look from the girl behind the counter.
"Ok, if I win you make me a massive cake--I can help bake it if you want. And if you win... I'll play you an entire concert in front of the school!" he said brashly as he took the cards and pencils and headed into the black room. All of the attractions glowed in the black light, as did any white clothing they were--or weren't wearing.
"Jack, I LIKE this place," he said as he looked around happily.

Taryn's shirt was glowing, and the lint on her hair elastic embarrassingly followed suit. It all stuck out rather harshly against her dark hair and skin. She felt somewhat disoriented as Abigail's eyes adjusted, and then it was all awe. Everything was glowing. Everything. Roch's teeth were even glowing. This was all pretty interesting, even from a scientific standpoint. How did they make all this paint...? Excitement bubbled up all-new and Taryn grinned a fanged, glowing smile.
"I think that's fair," she nodded, then went back to admiring the room. She was definitely looking forward to this. After a moment she stole a pencil and a card, never realizing that Roch had just paid for them both. She was too amazed. "Where do we start...?"

"There," Roch said, pointing to the glowing number one. It was a monster's mouth, complete with massive glowing teeth that opened and closed, and a tongue that came out, which you were supposed to get the ball up.
"You want to go first?" he offered, feeling that he'd actually picked well with this. At least she seemed excited! "That way you can figure out how it works and I'll copy!" So gentlemanly, Roch OTL

"...no?!" Taryn admitted and laughed. Why would she want to go first? She'd look like an idiot! She turned back to Roch, ponytail nearly whipping her face, and grinned ever broader. Even Abigail was more animated than usual, frantically looking from thing to thing. "I thought you were a gentleman! You go."
Ha-ha. Yeah, Roch a gentleman. Right.

"I'm usually gentle, and I'm definitely a man, but I ain't no gentleman," Roch told her, tossing his glowing purple ball once and catching it before looking around. "Okay, I see what they're doin'," he said, putting the ball down at the beginning of the course. "You hit the ball with the stick thing, and try and... get it in the mouth," he guessed.
"Let's try it," he said, pulling the golf club back and whacking the ball. It took him a couple of tries, but he finally got the ball around the mouth and into the hole behind it.
Which was totally what he'd planned on doing.
Right. "That took four hits," he told her. "Do we gotta write that part down?"

Taryn giggled as Roch struggled with his ball, and then contented herself to watch the glowing sphere dart around the field. When asked, she consulted her card. Hmmm...
"It would make sense too. We can play our way. Write down how many strokes it ta-- oh no, look." On the card was a basic set of instructions, likely meant for clueless boils and ghouls like them. "Yep! Looks like it. Lowest score wins... that's a little abnormal... Alright! My turn..."
Now, what would be the best way to go about this? Everything was moving, certainly it would be difficult to-- wait. This seemed like a fairly simple machine, working at a set pace. If she could just figure out how to best project the ball straight through the hole... there. She adjusted, setting her feet apart. There had to be a moment in which the jaws were opening and the tongue was out to facilitate a straight shot! Taryn stood, brow furrowed, and began to count. One, two, three, closed, one, two, three, open, one, two--
One, two, whack it! The ball sailed in and over the tongue and immediately into the hole. "OhmyJack, Roch! Look!" Like a child who had just learned to tie her shoes...

"That was AWESOME!" Roch said, seriously meaning it. "Jack, I KNEW this would work for you! You're like, PRO!" he said, giving her a half hug before running to the hole to get the balls out. "Next is that one," he told her, pointing to the glowing dragon that crouched over the entrance of a cave that went underground.
"This place is seriously cool looking," he said, grinning as he set up his next hit. "We might oughtta bring more friends next time, whaddaya say?" he asked before hitting the ball. It took him another four hits, which was a tiny bit frustrating, and he totally blamed it on Jericho.
"This is ALL Jericho's fault," he declared, even if it made no sense. "Stupid dragon's tail kept knocking my ball!"

"Sure!" Taryn piped, not having to even think about the grin spread across her face. "We could have a party! I bet they do parties here..." Granted, the ghoul wouldn't know who to invite. Would Xiu even be allowed? She thought on this as she took up her stance on the next hole.
There was no real science to apply here. Get it to go down the chute and it'll come out the other side. Simple! Taryn just mindlessly conked the ball, expecting it to go straight and true to the other side.
The ball bounced off the dragon's face. Woops. That set it up for a weird angle at the next stroke and it bounced straight off the creature's forehead. Jack damn it! With a good-natured laugh she finally got the ball down the hole and to the other side, but then experienced some trouble getting it to go in the hole. A ricochet ended up saving her.
"Oof! Just made it!"

He laughed. "Hey, you're still beating me," he told her, his mind on the party thing. "I bet Jove would like it, or Mot and Hel, or, hell, haven't done much with Demi lately... not when we were both--"
He picked up his ball and headed for the next attraction, a slight frown on his face as his mind went back to the Xiu problem. Jack, he'd promised he wouldn't lose either of them--not over this. But...
This one was putting a ball up a hill and into the haunted castle at the top. He didn't hit it hard enough the first time, hit it wrong and it bounced off the castle the second and third, but the fourth he made it!
"Four must be my lucky number."

"It must be! You'll have to keep that in mind," Taryn grinned. Sure, she had noticed the change in Roch's demeanor, but it was her job today to keep Roch happy. "I know Hel, I think. I met her real quick in the library? If she's, um. A reaper, I think. Split black and white down the middle..."
Alright, science wasn't the most fun, and losing wasn't fun either. She was here to fool around with her best friend, not single-mindedly try and win! She wouldn't mind making him a cake at all...
This track had a funny shape, and Taryn had some serious issues getting her ball around the first curve, but a couple more good whacks and it fell right in! "Oh, good!" Woops, had she said that out loud? The ghoul hid somewhat behind her hair,s till smiling shyly.

He laughed, grabbing the balls from the hole and handing her hers. "Yeah, that's Hel," he said. "She's pretty fun to hang out with. I haven't fought her yet, but she's a valkyrie. She's pretty competitive," he said. "I wonder if Chuppi or Lark would like to come, too," he went on, thinking of people to invite. "Oh, have you met either of them?"
Cuz he wanted her to. He thought both of them could use more pals, and it was Roch's nature to want his friends happy. Especially the ghouls.

Taryn wondered if anyone might be annoyed that they were stopping mid-course to chat. Oh well! They'd just have to deal with it. If anyone said anything, she'd give them a good stern-- oh, who was she trying to kid. No she wouldn't.
"No, I haven't met them either. I'd like to! I figure they can't be bad if you're friends with them..." Dangerous logic. She doubted Roch could be real enemies with anybody.
