Dayo usually didn't chew up dung beetles either. They were kind of slow so they were fun to just mess around with. But there was just something that made her want to bite into her "victims" after a successful hunt. It was crunchy and gross and good at the same time.
"Sure, I'll stalk it with you," she said, "But if you don't chew them up, how do you know you're killed them good, hmm? You have to kill them good!"

"They stop moving or bleed their guts out. But do chew on the spider. It could be dangerous." Sar stated slowly following the spider across the ground, crawling on his belly to study its movement. Some spiders were poisonous or so hairy that they were like tiny wild boars. And some were deadly. Sar was pretty sure it was only a sand spider, but he didn't want Dayo chumping on it and then dying. Mom and Dad would be so sad and mad at the same time. And Sar didn't think he could forgive himself for starting this game.
"Besides, I haven't studied it yet. You can crunch on dung beetles all you want, Dayo, even if it is really gross."

Study it? Really? Dayo wasn't sure she could fully understand her brother all the time, but it didn't matter. She'd try not to flatten the spider completely before he was done studying it.
"Come on," she said and grinned, "Let's stalk it! I promise not to chew on this one..."
