Suny might not look much of a threat, but he was big. Furthermore, he had been raised under strict training for a good portion of his life. It was tradition in his family to be raised under a zero-tolerance for evil creatures, with a particularly strong prejudice against klalonas. While Sunny would have liked to imagine he had been raised with an open-mind, now that he saw the leather-winged monster with his tail around the mares neck, that loathing rose to the surface.
Still, it was clear the stallion could snap her neck. Sunny honestly wasn't sure what to do. If he approached, he risked harming the mare. If he backed away, he risked losing them to the sky, as both had wings. What he would give for a distraction. . . Still, Pele had her uses. With his tail wrapped around her neck, the kalona was limited in where he could go, and how quickly he could loosen himself from his grip.
It wasn't battle that concerned him, that he could handle. But how to draw the kalona away. Snorting as the kalona ran his head along his jaw, the blue eyed stallion's resolve grew. "Let her go. If you wish to take her, you'll need go through me to do so. If you were any sort of beast, you'd battle me face to face, other than hide behind the mare as a shield." They were proud beasts, weren't they?
One thing Sunny knew that time was on his side. He was strong, he was healthy, and he had no where to go. If the kalona tried to escape by air, he was certain the mare wouldn't go willingly. If he tried to run, again, he was caught by Pele. All he needed was a moment, a second. . . . He came from mutant stock, and there was strength behind him. All he needed was one hit, especially with his horns, and he would show the kalona what messing with his lineage would mean.
But how to do so without harming the mare?

Pele's skin rippled and her ear twitched at the Kalona's caress. But she felt encouraged as the stallion spoke up. His voice a challenge with such strength behind it. She couldn't help but smile.
She needed to give him an advantage, to get herself away from the Kalona around her neck. The only thing she could think of was absurd. But, for that very reason, maybe it would work.
The Kalona's teeth were made to bite and rip at meat. Hers were made to cut grass and grind it to paste. They weren't all that sharp, and they wouldn't do much in the way of damage. But she was certain a bite would hurt and bleed.
So, the thought taking no time to form, and her dancer's training making her thoughts an extension of her body, quick and precise. Pele twisted her head and bit the Kalona's cheek. The move was fast and unexpected, though a bit hampered by his tail around her neck, his head was close enough that she didn't have to move far.
As her teeth connected and she put the strength of her jaw behind the bite, Pele took a moment to hope he would react by letting her go, not killing her. But at this point her dice were cast.

Demon's decision seemed to be made for him when the pale stallion spoke. From his tone it was clear he worried and feared for the female in his grips.... and being the b*****d he was he had no qualms against using that against him. It was why he had always feared that Cherish would one day be used against him.... after all, it was exactly what he would have done!
"Now, now..." he clucked, "Why would I do that?" He grinned, though it probably looked more like a snarl due to his extended fangs. "Who said I had to play fair? All I want is to win." Mostly true. Demon hated losing, ever since he had been a foal he considered losing to be greatest source of weakness; and to his mind he had been losing far to often as of late. This was his last chance in this area to do something of use for his course.... but admitting defeat was not an easy thing for Demon to do.
He had to admit that the mares silence was aiding his concentration.... at least until the low creature bit him! Any other day he would have seen the strength and courage in her action... but today was not one of those days, and today he cared little for traits that may very well have stopped him from killing her previously. He yelped, more from surprise and pain as his body acted on instinct. His tail gripped tighter just as his wing shot out to strike her. Only as it made contact did he release his grip of her.
"The fates are against me!" He mumbled. Why did it seem that his goal of retreiving his mate was doomed to fail? NO! He could not fail! Even if it cost him his life he would get her back.... that he had vowed. He snarled. Nothing would get in his way. No silly dancing mare, no pig-headed pale stallion.Attack roll:1- Demon goes to kick Pele in the side but misses as she moves away to quickly. (Miss) 2- Demon slams his hoof on Pele's side. (Hit - Moderate damage) 3- Demon focuses his attention on Sunny, charging. In his rage he doesn't notice Sunny move and ends up striking a nearby tree. (Miss. Gives Demon a headache)4- Demonn charges at Sunny, striking a solid hit with his horns. "You shall pay for their crimes." He hisses. (Hit - Minor/Moderate damage) Sorry sorry sorry! Been chaos lately in RL. Hopefully be more active again now. *huggles*

Sunny was shocked by what the captive mare did next -- she bit him. Right on the cheek! It wasn't something he'd though she would actually manage to do, given the precarious hold he had around her neck. Unfortunately though, Sunny still couldn't move until she was quite free -- if he attacked, her neck could be snapped in an instant.
Thankfully though, though the kalona smacked the mare with his wing, he did release her. Ah-ha! Perfect! Muscles still tense, the stallion did his best to remember the strict training of his family. This was why Azuell had tried to ingrain in his children a need to be aware, alert, and able to defend. While Sunny lacked wings like some of his cousins and uncles, he did have two great horns, as well as strength and a great size.
The stallion had thought to charge, but instead, the kalona took the offensive and turned on him! Well, that was what he had wanted, after all. . . . But this time, Sunny was prepared. Dodging the attack, he watches as the stallion strikes a nearby tree. This was the advantage he needed to strike!
Using his brute strength, it is his turn to charge, head lowered. While he doubts he'll be able to use his horns to stab the other (he'd have to get underneath) they do provide an excellent sheild for his own skull, and the extra layer of thick bone makes being hit with his head exceptionally painful.
Counter-Attack
1. Sunny charges and hits Demon full on in the side. (Minor to Moderate damage) 2. Sunny charges, but Demon is well aware and is able to dodge the attack. (Miss)

Pele shook her head, the Kalona's wing had caught her head in a glancing blow and she reeled for a moment, trying to collect her thoughts. Her breath caught as she saw her attacker charging towards the heroic stallion. It let itself out in an explosive burst when he hit a tree instead. Then watching her rescuer attack but miss, Pele found herself frozen with confused indecision.
She had no skills in combat, the best she could do was run, but she wouldn't leave the yellow stallion to fight the Kalona alone. The best she could do was make herself less of a target. So Pele moved to put a tree between herself and the combatants. At least the evil stallion couldn't charge her or threaten her to hurt the other stallion as easily now.
