_ _©ⓛⓐⓘⓡⓥⓔⓡⓔ ± ©ⓛⓞⓦⓡⓔⓨ ⓔⓘⓡShe chuckled, "There are...but a lot of them has been put down so students can roam around a bit. As long as we stay on a road, we're fine." She shrugged a bit, finishing off her bowl of jello. "And the library's just a walk away," she stated, "Do you wanna go there now?" She didn't really think him smiling was anything unusual, though she hadn't noticed he only had when she mentioned 'friend'...Clowrey stood up from her seat, leading him to the library. She pointed out things along the way; general areas were certain classes would be, like the science classes or physical classes, for beginners and up...Thankfully they were all clumped together in this sort of way, which made it easier for Clowrey to explain. And if he ever needed a hint, she mentioned, than just make sure to remember a landmark and where it was...As long as he knew where that object or place was for sure, then figuring out which direction to go in was easy. She always used the funny-looking "artsy" statue near the registry office, herself, to remember which classes were in which areas...
After a while, Clowrey would suggest heading to the beach if Isaac felt more comfortable about how to navigate the school.

"Oh. Okay... I'll have to be careful, I guess. I think I'll probably test the ground out there before I go walking around anyway, though. I don't want to trip anything bad." Isaac nodded and followed along close during the tour, trying to keep in mind what would be where. It would take him awhile to remember-- he knew it would-- but at least this would help and make things a lot easier. Maybe the other new students would have as hard of a time remembering as he did now.
Using landmarks, though-- that was a hint he could hang onto. Knowing where things were and guiding himself in the right direction should end up easy enough-- he'd simply use one of the rifts as a guide point because he didn't need to see them to know where they were.
Speaking of... he'd abandoned Nikolai in the halls back there, hadn't he?
"A moment, please?"
Isaac didn't wait for her to stop-- he could run and catch up if he had to-- before he dropped down with both hands pressed flat against the ground for a moment. It took him a second to place a rift near enough (he wasn't very familiar with the school at all yet, not even in the ways he probably should be) and pulled a soccer ball sized amount of roskyy from it, balling it up infront of him with his hands.
As soon as it was in his hands he pushed himself back to sit on his rear and he began fiddling with it-- pulling at parts and squishing parts and generally molding it into the shape of a monkey-- though it was closer to it's sock monkey counter-part then the real thing and very small.
"That's better."
Isaac lifted the creation up and placed it on his shoulder, where it animated itself to cling tightly to his shirt and hold loosely onto his hair. "This is Nikolai. Now we can go to the beach-- he wants to see it too."

_ _©ⓛⓐⓘⓡⓥⓔⓡⓔ ± ©ⓛⓞⓦⓡⓔⓨ ⓔⓘⓡWhat...was that?
Clowrey stared in quiet perplexity and Isaac pulled what seemed to be silver good right out of nowhere(see as how there wasn't a hole in the ground), and mold it into a toy monkey. She stared at it for a moment, and poked at its twitching tail--Was it really moving on its own? Kids like to have imaginary friends, right? Although this...silver stuff wasn't really imaginary. Maybe it was like with her smoke? "Wasn't 'Nikolai' a cat, earlier?" Clowrey commented as they started to move out of the academy and towards the beach. It was about mid-afternoon by now, making the weather neither too hot or too cold, and thankfully not too bright. She adjusted her glasses again, enjoying a cool sea breeze as they neared the sands.

Nikolai's tail twitched away from the finger on a delay, and Isaac chuckled at it. "Nikolai," he said softly to it, "Clowrey is a friend." The roskyy stopped moving for a second before making an impossible leap over to Clowrey's shoulder.
"Yes, Nikolai is a lot of things. Nikolai is whatever he wants to be. A turtle or a fish, since we're at the beach. Which one?"
Isaac smiled as the sands came into sight and he ran ahead a short bit-- just a bit. There still were traps and he didn't want to get too far ahead.

_ _©ⓛⓐⓘⓡⓥⓔⓡⓔ ± ©ⓛⓞⓦⓡⓔⓨ ⓔⓘⓡ"Haha--Monkey's fine~" Clowrey responded, poking at Nikolai as it perched on her shoulder. It felt sort of cool...and a little bit squishy--It was sort of weird, actually, but she wasn't going to question it much further. The young teen followed close behind Nikolai, watching him move quicker towards the beach. "Mmn..." The sands were just warm enough, she thought to herself after kicking her slippers off to the side. "Sometimes you can see a fish or two," she called to Isaac, moving towards the cool, splashing waters. Ahh~ It felt great! "Hey, do you swim?"

Isaac nodded. A monkey was good. A fish moved weird and his would probably just float to the surface of the water if he didn't keep a constant eye on it, while a turtle would probably be hallow and it would be difficult to keep the rounded shape.
Fish, though, in the water? Isaac was quick to kick off his boots and jump right in, jumping up and down a few extra times just for the sake of splashing before running out a little further.
"I like swimming! But... aren't there jellyfish or... Is there anything mean out here?"

_ _©ⓛⓐⓘⓡⓥⓔⓡⓔ ± ©ⓛⓞⓦⓡⓔⓨ ⓔⓘⓡShe chortled brightly as she watched Isaac bounce around in the water, getting splashed a littler herself. "Uhm...Well I haven't seen jellyfish around," she thought to herself, "And...something 'mean'?" Was he afraid of there being sharks or something...? It was natural for kids to be wary of that, she supposed, although as a kid she swam without a care in the world..."I, uhh, I don't think there are any 'mean things' out here," she stumbled with her words, "But...e-even if there were I won't let them get to 'ya~! I'll smack them right in the face and send them running!" . . .Oh wait, that was probably a HORRIBLE thing to say--It sounded like there was a chance there WERE sharks and stuff around. And Clowrey quickly tried to correct herself: "I-I mean...! Well, Binary probably has sensors and stuff all around the island...Most likely he's made sure nothing dangerous could step foot here to protect us, whether it was villains or just bullying sea critters...There's nothing to worry about, Isaac. I swear."

Isaac was very slow to wade into the water, letting it get up to his knees before he shot a wary look back at Clowrey. "Are you sure? I mean..." He smiled after a brief pause-- "as long as you promise to protect me, I guess I don't have to worry."
He stood very still for a moment-- this was nice. Refreshing. Nicer then anything he'd experienced at the Academy so far. His smile faded very slowly, and he turned back around and took a step deeper into the water.
"You're so brave, Clowrey."

_ _©ⓛⓐⓘⓡⓥⓔⓡⓔ ± ©ⓛⓞⓦⓡⓔⓨ ⓔⓘⓡ"Haha, I promise...Pink-swear and cross my heart and all that good stuff," she responded, now poking around to see if there were any Sand Dollars or interesting shells. She almost didn't catch that last bit he said, having to pause and wonder if she had heard right. "Brave...? What makes you say that?" she inquired, unsure of where this suddenly came from. Clowrey moved a little closer to him, and thought to herself about how he seemed to be distant all of a sudden. Although he was just right there...just steps away from her.

Isaac held in his spot instead of wading deeper, looking back at Clowrey only when her question was asked. He gazed off for a moment while he thought. When he looked back at her, he smiled again. "You are, aren't you? There are such dangerous things here. It's such a dangerous life. You want to be a hero, right? I just want to control my powers."
He turned back around and leaned over, fishing a small rock out of the water that brushed up against his leg with the tide.
"How can you be brave? What happens when you encounter that villain you can't beat? Would they really let you walk away?"
Isaac tossed the stone out as though he were going to skip it, but it only jumped once before sinking. "And what happens when your beliefs are contested? What happens when you don't know what's right? What happens when you can't keep up with the other heroes?"
He shook his head just a bit. "It's brave, Clowrey."

_ _©ⓛⓐⓘⓡⓥⓔⓡⓔ ± ©ⓛⓞⓦⓡⓔⓨ ⓔⓘⓡTaken back his his reply, Clowrey found herself falling silent. She had never once herself as 'brave' or 'courageous'...Just like she hadn't thought about leaving home for the first time or not being near her family, or even just arriving in some place so new and unfamiliar to her...She hadn't taken the moment to think about any of that, and now that she was, it was a lonely thought. Ever since she first met Isaac days earlier, she had thought him to be such a mature person for a kid his age. And it couldn't ring any truer now...
However, she shook her head. "Heh, it's a little funny that you'd probably be the only one to call me 'brave'...Others would call me 'dumb' because truth is, I've really just been trying to just push ahead without looking where I was charging..." She picked up a small rock herself, and another for Isaac, trying to get it to skip. "I've been so focused on my end goal, I haven't really thought about the journey... . . .Honestly, I ought to be scared out of my wits.
The dangers and bad people in this world, the line between right and wrong, heart and facts...Facing off with all sorts of people, whether its my enemy or a comrade...I don't know how any of that will turn out, once I get there, or if it'll end for the better. Thinking about it now...I can't help but worry. I'm not brave. Not at all."
She looked to Isaac with a big grin at that moment, her soft tone becoming firm as she continued: "But worrying isn't the only thing I can do.
I want to prove to myself for certain about the good and the bad. I want to challenge those people--I want to see to it that villains don't get away with what they've done! If I can't make it the same way as others, then I'll just carve out my own path! I can't grow on my own if I have to follow the same route as other heroes constantly...And I've already faced danger, and failed miserably once...And I refuse to let that happen again!" Instinctively, she clutched at her left shoulder, where her scar was--her drive. "What I want is for truth for all to be made clear...and no matter what, I want to reach that goal. I will fall at times, and I will get scared...but instead of being brave, I just want to be able to keep going. To put my all in what I'm doing...
I'm not brave...but I'm not going to let that stop me." Her wide grin softened considerably and she gently laid a hand on his shoulder, "And if there's one thing about bravery I know for certain...It's definitely not to be able to just shrug everything off and act like everything is fine. Being brave and being scared go hand-in-hand...It's how you know you're moving ahead."

Dumb?
Isaac wasn't even sure how to react to that. Honestly, if people thought that was dumb... just pushing ahead, not looking at the future--sometimes you couldn't look too far ahead or you couldn't see the immediate...
His brow furrowed and he nodded sharply.
She was very close and Isaac closed the distance between them, taking the spare rock from her and smiling very softly.
It was only when she grinned that his smile faded. Of course worrying wasn't the only thing, but... He frowned, looking down at the rock in his hand in a semblance of shame as he listened. But faced danger? Failed? Isaac was quick to look back up and watch her clutch at her shoulder, unsure of how to act but opening his mouth as though he were going to say something.
He stayed silent until she finished talking.
"But if you're not letting it stop you, isn't that bravery? Clowrey..."
Isaac faltered a bit, tossing the rock just off to the side. He glanced at the hand on his shoulder and followed his gaze along it until he was looking back at Clowery's face. "You're brave, Clowrey. Don't think otherwise, not ever."

_ _©ⓛⓐⓘⓡⓥⓔⓡⓔ ± ©ⓛⓞⓦⓡⓔⓨ ⓔⓘⓡ"Haha, you can think of me like that if you want to...But I don't think I'm 'brave'...because I don't consider wanting to keep going against all odds 'bravery'," she commented softly, "I want to think of it as simply doing my best in what I firmly believe is right...It's the same for you, isn't it? Even just wanting to be able to control your powers--If that's a goal you feel is important enough to travel all the way out here for, isn't that what matters most? So if you think I'm brave, then you are just as much so." She let her hand fall back to her side and her gaze came back to the horizon and the sun just starting to fall from its afternoon peak..."Someone important to me once said that the vision of bravery differs from the person being considered brave, and the people who's watching the acts. I guess it's true after all."

Isaac frowned again, but only for a moment. Clowrey could probably contest it left and right, but he was reasonably stubborn. He believed her to be brave and very little could change that.
"How so? How am I brave? I'm here because I'm a coward. It's a compromise." Isaac glanced back at the shore where a discarded Nikolai was beginning to lose his shape. Isaac sighed for a second and stretched the roskyy into a thin line that snaked towards him.
"People didn't like me much, you know, because it's not normal. I can't really control it well, and when I'm not paying attention it'll show up around me anyway. I just wanted friends. I wanted to be looked at as a kid. I felt alienated. So I ran away from them to come here. I ran away to learn how to hide."
The roskyy jerked off to the side for a moment, and Isaac waved it off until it lost form and fell into the ocean.
"But I'm being brave here, even if I'm only doing it so I can be cowardly later."
Another frown crossed his face but it was only fleeting before he smiled.
"But maybe not. Maybe I won't be so cowardly later. I guess I'm learning how to be brave here, too." He shrugged and glanced off into the distance, where a thin, shiny silver triangle peaked the surface of the water.
"Look, Clowrey, it's a shark!" He called out, his demeanor shifting to simple amusement very suddenly, "Save me!"

_ _©ⓛⓐⓘⓡⓥⓔⓡⓔ ± ©ⓛⓞⓦⓡⓔⓨ ⓔⓘⓡIt wasn't often you found a kid that was as self-aware of Isaac, and she wouldn't tell him yet but she was just a tad jealous he could give himself the chance to do that. Lord knew if Clowrey just stopped for one second...But to hell with that right now! "Noooo~ I won't let that shark get 'ya!" Clowrey chuckled, going along with his game, "I'll bop him right on the nose~!" She mocked running from the shark with him, causing the water to splash considerably. "Ah! The shark's getting closer--Quick, onto my shoulders so he can't reach you!" she cried out enthusiastically, helping him climb upwards--only for her to slip on a slippery stone and fall the short distance backwards into the water, and him on top. She bursted out laughing and sat up; "Ah ha ha hah...! Aw crap, haha, w-where are my glasses?" she chuckled, shifting her hands in the sand until she found them again.
