Alma scuffed her feet up quickly and then leaned close and touched her. A small zap shot out. And she laughed menacingly at the small shock the putti should be feeling.

"Real is what matters," she scoffs. "If I could just believe things and make them so. I wouldn't be in this...predicament. I wouldn't be stuck with you." She wouldn't have lost everyone, She wouldn't be searching for answers. She wouldn't be trying to bring vengeance. She'd be happy. Or at least as happy as she could be.

Maybe the problem was that she was never supposed to be happy. Or maybe sometimes it would be safer to give up sanity and find that everything was fine. But there was something deeper in her that wanted to fight and kill everyone who'd hurt her--and that list was long.

She hated them. She would find out who they were one day. And she would make them pay. She'd make them suffer. That was a promise.

Laeh squeaked and jumped when the spark shot through her. She rubbed her snout, pouting. "That wasn't very nice. You could've warned me."

Laeh wiggled and trotted about, pretending to walk on a tightrope. "So don't be here. Go somewhere else. I didn't ask you to stay. I'm not leaving, either. There's treasure around here somewhere."

Alma considered, her mouth forming into a grimace. What was she going to do if this putti didn't move? Because well...this was the place she knew that the slavers came through. Anywhere else was a risk...she'd been scouting this place for months, which wasn't to say they would come back this way again...because maybe they wouldn't.

But this would be her best chance. "I'm sorry," she said in a surly voice. "But I really need to be here. I have something important to do. Will you please leave?

Laeh frowned and stomped her foot, growing a little mad for the first time in her life. "Stop trying to boss me around!" Moving closer, she pressed her snout on Alma's. "Having no friends is lonely. Being lonely makes you sad. I'm sure you don't want to be sad so stop it. I'm not hurting you. You're the one who captured me in a net and I laughed. So just.. just.. get over yourself." Laeh breathed heavily. For the first time in her life she sounded mature. The maturity went out the window when she began talking like a pirate.
"Join me, matey. We'll travel the seven seas together. There's treasure here. You could have a hand in it if you play your cards right."

Bat crap crazy. That's what she was. Bat. Crap. CRAZY. First she's all child like and then she's all in your face. It was odd, not frightening just...weird. Alma wrinkled her nose in indecision. She could use her...she could be good bait or something. Maybe she could learn to elicit a certain side of her at a different time. And she was lonely, but well--she was used to it.

"What's...your deal? Like...why are you like this?" Alma considered her for a moment.

Laeh trotted around and shrugged. "It's a lot more interesting this way. Like I said reality is boring or scary or upsetting or.. a whole lot of things that aren't fun."

Her wings fluttered and she tilted her head. "If I'm happy that's all that matters to me. I don't care what others think about me." She bent down and nosed the net. "You gonna tell me what it's for?"

Angry words blurred her vision, and burned in her mouth when the putti asked her what the net was for. But the only words that came out were, "For the ones who took my family."

She felt disgusted with herself, she'd never meant to say that much. It had come out despite her will, and she was angry with herself. Why had she said it? It felt heavy and thick on the air, more real than it ever had before and yet...her chest felt a little lighter.

"Oh," was all Laeh said on the matter. It wasn't her place to say anything else and by the looks of the imp before it nothing Laeh said would make a difference anyway.

"If it were for a dragon I would've suggested putting treasure in there. Dragons love shiny things. Or if it was a phoenix one of their eggs. A mermaid? Well you can't really catch a mermaid on land. But mermaids love mirrors - if you ever need to catch one."

Laeh trotted around again, humming the tune of a pirate song.

Really? Alma just couldn't help staring at her. She had just said something thoroughly showing what she was really like, explaining the pain that was aching inside of her. And this...this...putti, this stupid putti was talking about mermaids and dragons and...stupid, useless, pretty things that didn't really matter at all.

She could feel the anger rising. Did any of that really mean anything at all when she was never going to see her family again? There were people still out there not paying for what they'd done to her family. It's not right. And..She could feel herself snapping "That's all you're going to say? Really?"

Laeh looked confused. "What do you want me to say?" she asked, twirling around. "That it's going to be okay? That everything will work out in the end?" She stood still and eyed the imp. "I could say that but I doubt it'd make you feel better and I doubt you'd believe a word."

She began twirling again. "As much as I'd like it to be, life isn't a fairy tale. Things don't always work out the way you want which is why you've just gotta keep going and not dwell on the past."

Alma snapped her mouth shut quickly. She couldn't believe that Laeh had said those things to her. They were true...but she had not expected them for her--from such an...airhead.

But maybe it wasn't how you learned it, maybe it was that you learned it that mattered. And she was write, there was only one path. Vengeance for her family, then she could live on after that. That's what she needed.

"You're right," she said gruffly. "Would have been nice if you acknowledged it," she grumbled. This little putti was starting to grown on her.

Laeh pranced around, her mood changing instantly and having already forgotten about the words she spoke. She flopped on the ground and rolled around, pouting.

"All this waiting really is boring. How do you stand it? Can't we do something else?"

Honestly, in her mind, Laeh believed she would die from boredom. She hadn't spent this much time without going on an 'adventure' and it was starting to get to her. She was starting to act.. normal. She shuddered at the thought. Hopefully Alma would grow bored of waiting and play with her. If not, Laeh would have to take matters into her own hands.

"Bored?" Alma had never been bored in her life. Life had been a lot of things, but certainly not boring. She doubted she'd ever have a boring day. So much time had been spent planning and preparing for revenge for vengeance whatever you wanted to call this...she'd never had a moment to be bored.

"How can you be bored at a moment like this?" Really did the putti only have enough room in her body for one emotion at a time? It really did seem like it..."You're just...you're...." Words failed her again. Laeh was just...she was intriguing....interesting...amusing...infuriating. She sighed, "I don't know what you are. What would you suggest we do that still allows me to do my plans and quietly?"

Laeh pouted. "I don't like being still for so long without doing anything." She frowned and plopped down on the ground, thinking silently.

A game without leaving this area and being quiet? Had Laeh ever been quiet in her life? She was pretty sure she hadn't.. All the activities Laeh liked to do involved shouting and carrying on like mad soquili. But, Alma was nice enough to accept Laeh and so she would accept her requests.

"Well.. I guess we could um.." Frowning, she sighed. "I have no idea. Do you?"

Alma sighed, "We could be quiet and see who spots them first?" This was going to be futile. She'd been here for days and the only thing she'd caught was Laeh. Maybe she needed a change of tactics.

"Tell me. If you wanted to look for someone, how would you find them without knowing who they are? How would you capture them?" Maybe Laeh could give her some insight into that. Maybe she could come up with something inventive, or something she'd been missing or...well, a second look never hurt right?

But why was she even trusting Laeh?

She hated to admit it, but she...she reminded her of. Well, she reminded her of something she'd lost--something she never wanted to lose. Maybe this would be as close to getting her back? Maybe she should accept that and make the best of it? But she was not accepting, and what did it matter anyways? Laeh would leave eventually. No one would stay with Alma for long.
