Tannin sighed, though he tried valiantly to hide the fact that he had, once again, found his proverbial hoof in his mouth. While he was not backing down, he knew that his father would have thought Kaiyas actions to be rash, and even suicidal to some degree. It was simply foolish to walk right up to an enemy and hope that they invited you in to their humble abode for tea and a much needed therapy session. But Kaiya was Kaiya, and he understood to a certain extent that this is what she DID, it was in her system, her very soul, an urge to save the damned.

" I'm sorry, I could have worded that better."

His eyes flickered back to her " That's also a form of tactics, I think I shall always speak in such terms." He smiled at her awkwardly, watching her feel pity for even the insects that lighted upon them and flew around, making an incessant whining din. " I think that these kalona aren't going to remain as "friendly" as they have been" He grimaced down at the healing gashes on his legs, he was sure to have some battlescars to show his father, if he ever returned home, he wasn't even sure Nightmare would still BE there. It was a worrisome thought. " So we should at least be cautious goslings"

" Peace, yes...that is a thing." He rumbled " Tis a difficult lession to learn, to switch from the sword to the spirit..." He set his jaw in determination " I will be a better student to you Ms Kaiya." He watched her facial expressions carefully from behind the protective shadows of his mask. He wondered just how long she'd been doing this...He was young, and obviously green, but still, even though she was a veritable veteran compared to him, he felt the need to protect her...somehow. If not from the monsters, maybe from her own driven spirit. He was still surprised she had lasted this long with the task she had appointed herself...or maybe she didn't have a choice...there was a thought. He was still yet a knight in training, but he would become hardened, and he would find a way. He always did.

Oops! Sorry for the delay, forgot it was my tag. I think we're getting close to a wrap with this one. . maybe.. . <<; Thoughts?

Kaiya gave a patient smile and a small, shake of her head. It wasn't that she thought the stallion's idea silly or brash, he was right in that they would need some sort of plan. . . but Kaiya was accustomed to her way of life, and her usual ways of approaching stranger. She had nothing to hide, had learned that the best tactic was to appear at face value.

She was an angeni.
They were kalona.
She wanted to save them.
They wanted nothing to do with her.

"I have a feeling, after we're quite well rested and patched up, we will settle our differences with the kalona before us. We will be wart with our approach, but must remember to be respectful, and loving. Even though I am certain we will be unlikely to even get past their borders, perhaps our persistence will pay off. They have ears, after all, and we've spoken our message clearly multiple times. . . maybe, just maybe, one of them will have heard it." It was her greatest hope, actually, to do good. Her job was complicated, life-threatening, and certainly had its pros and its cons. But she would keep up her message and her love for those so lost in darkness.

They needed it, whether they agreed or believed such a thing. They had every right to love and be loved, even if they acted criminal, even if the darkness within their souls caused them to be cruel.

They were her family, her future, her beginning, her end. . . . This was why she had been born, this duty was why she had been gifted such a domain. Though life wasn't easy, it was her life and her choice to make. She wouldn't abandon them. . . even when she left, even if they never changed, she would keep them in her prayers, in her heart, in her mind.

"We will be cautious, I promise you. One more pass, one more try Tannin. . . . maybe next time we'll see a change. Maybe next time, the spirits will move them. . . I won't give up on them, but I suppose it is time to give them a reprieve." While her ward might be relieved that the end of this particular, spiritual battle was near. . . . Kaiya could only find a sense of regret, of sadness. Sometimes she couldn't help but wonder if she needed to fight harder, longer. . .if she wasn't so weak, she might change more hearts. Unfortunately though, she was but one angeni. She understood her limitations, but that didn't mean she had to cherish them.

Tannin fought hard not to sigh, one could not simply "settle their differences" with the likes of kalona. The newly healed wounds that traced over faintly old ones upon his midnight flank were more than enough proof of that. But he would go with her regardless of the consequences, his armor and muscle kept the angry teeth and lashing tails mostly at bay, he didn't like to see any more blood on her than he could help. She wouldn't like to hear that he was doing his best to protect her while she did her mission, she would probably think it was foolish of him...oh well.

He listened, wincing a little as a muscle twitch irritated a large scab that was forming high on one of his back legs. That would most definitely scar. " Though In my humble opinion lady, these ones have cotton in their ears or something." He joked, having once thought of the idea to drown out mockingbirds from waking him up so early when he was a youngling. " Careful is the only thing I really can ask Kaiya." He smiled crookedly " Once more then" he agreed " hopefully those spirits would help them out a little more this time around, It was one thing to fight for honor and the righteous thing, but quite another to throw yourself, more than once in fact, into the jaws of uncertainty and obvious darkness.

He stared at her, his eyes flickering under his boney helm. " Rest well Kaiya, we'll surely succeed soon." He murmured, hoping it would ease some of the turmoil he thought he saw swimming in her shining eyes. " Rest well."
