My parents got lazy when raising me here in the states and just started to talk to me in english...it's all their fault I can't learn another language crying

I speak Cantonese at home, had to learn Mandarin since I was young (in boring Chinese school) and English in school... Now I'm learning Japanese too... and starting to forget all the Mandarin I learned... sigh... sweatdrop

tamcharles Harro harro ar! razz Actually my first language is English but I was brought up in a Cantonese/Shanghainese family. I can hardly speak the language (Shanghainese is my strongest) but I can understand the basics without too much problem. My Mandarin has been improving over the last little bit... of course as a direct result of the tutolage of my dear girlfriend who's Taiwanese. biggrin Muwahaha! heart

I am fluent in Mandarin (brought up in Taiwan till I was almost 17) and pretty fluent in Taiwanese as well. I can understand a little bit of Cantonese but I can barely say anything. sad I want to learn Cantonese! Any tips? 3nodding

Yoshimitsu Kyoshi I can speak cantonese fluently......and its my first language, I also went to school in HK before.....(I still remember those really strict school rules.. gonk ) haha..thats call school.sure they have some stupid rules.

Can't speak or understand any other dialect except Cantonese. Even with that, I'm not very good because my English and Japanese are taking over!! Heh heh. blaugh
