The instant that Lark spotted the others in the clearing that had been created by the scythe-wielder, Lark knew she'd probably made a mistake in coming here. She had heard Roch mention hunters, but what did that mean? Why were the plants curling back upon themselves? What was going on?

Biting her lip, the ghoul wavered. Maybe she should turn back and help those that were being trapped by the red-cloaked figures. Maybe she should even run back to her dorm. No, that wasn't why she was here. That would prove nothing, accomplish nothing.

Ben shimmered into existence next to her, and with a softly uttered, "Go," Ben flew towards the scythe and the one who held it. He landed a solid enough hit before retreating back to stand protectively next to Lark.

He had thought he was one of the first to follow, but it seemed somewhere he had lost speed. Despite this, West took no time copying the others and striking out at the man with the golden an glowing scythe.

It was Invictus who struck first, Caelius not even bothering to move as the projectile simply soared past him, Aisa's attack following a close second afterward, the two scythe weapons colliding with a shrieking clatter. The Hunter's focus on Aisa made him susceptible to Eris's daggers, the blades tearing into the red cloak like a demented tailor, fabric fluttering to the ground, revealing half of the familiar white coat underneath.

With a sweep backwards, he removed the cloak entirely, using it as an obstruction to ward of Riley, and then Edel's attacks, Cymbelline's offensive pushing him further back. The other hits seem to blend into succession, as the Hunter finally disengaged from Aisa and Eris's blades - just barely - forcing them towards the trainees with one hand against the blade of his weapon. Another swing followed, a flash of blue light that only managed to deliver the weakest of shockwaves as Caelius staggered another step backwards.

Those who had only heard his name were perhaps surprised by the appearance: what looked like a simple Reaper - a human wearing the Hunter white and gold, nothing more nothing less. Those who knew him better might have sensed something else: the fight was too easy.

And it was too easy, as something flickered on the ground, sparkling with light-blue electricity, what looked like a glowing blue dagger half-hidden underneath the scattered tree branches on the ground. Another hiss and a crackle followed, as the arcs of light connected to each other - to three other daggers also embedded into the earth at strategic points. All four daggers made a rectangular barrier right around the Horsemen and students, a wild electrical fence dancing between each point, penning them in like cattle.

Oddly enough, Caelius did not drop his weapon, looking at the Horsemen, calculating. They had, after all, played this trapping game before, time and time again on the Island. Fear barriers simply did not seem to contain the horsemen well.

The Boss Fight Continues! HP: ???/ ???

HORSEMEN:

- This seems to be a modified version of the barriers that attempted to contain them on the island. Roll a 6-sided dice. If odd you are trapped in, if even, you break out. You may roll as many times as you need this round. Subtract 10 HP every single time you are unsuccessful in breaking out.
- If you succeed in breaking out, you may continue to the attack phase, same as per usual, Fear attacks are effective.

STUDENTS:

-Roll a 100-sided dice. If you roll a 90 or higher, you break out from the barrier, otherwise you take 10 damage for trying. If you do not try OR fail, the aura of the barrier will sap your Fear, making your student feel tired, paralyzed. You can only attempt to break out once per gm round.
- If you manage to break out, you may continue to the attack phase, same as usual, Fear attacks are effective.

Everything was happening so quickly. Jericho managed to step back after his failed attempt to strike Cael, but by then he found himself inside some sort of barrier. What the hell was this? Without thinking too much of it, he attempted to break free, only to feel the barrier drain a good chunk of his FEAR. Grunting lowly, he dropped down onto one knee, feeling incredibly weakened right now.

"Tiamat's.. s**t.." he murmured while he tried to move further.

Looking up, he stared hard at the head hunter. He looked like a simple Reaper, but he knew better. All of these Hunters appeared to be Reapers really. Back on the island, that was what he thought they all were, before he learned the truth of things.

There was only one thing Riley liked about Caelius. At least he wasn't monologuing anymore.

The barrier rose, and Riley turned to the side, one tentacle reaching out to the crackling electricity that now surrounded her. The tentacle pulled back when it was shocked, and her head swiveled sharply up to Caelius.

It's a trap, she had said. Stay back, she had said. Did she ever listen to her own advice? Would she ever listen to her own advice?

She deserved this, she told herself, as she crouched down to her knees, let out a stubborn growl, and bashed through the electric barrier with every ounce of strength within her. The pain flashed through her body in waves, leaving her crumpling to the ground - just outside the barrier.

Well, she was out. That was all that mattered.

It was all a little much to take in. His absence from the trip was definitely not giving him the upper hand here; while many of the other students seemed to already be acquainted with this stranger and what he could do, he was only able to sit and stare, hoping that a sudden burst of clarity might come.

Thackery listened on as each of them spoke. Angry, confident, vengeful. The Horsemen that he recognized from the meeting were all so strong and prepared that he felt near to useless. Though he might have been a little lacking on the investment level compared to the other students, he knew this thing had hurt them all, and didn't doubt in the slightest that he would hurt them again, tearing them apart piece by piece until there was nothing left. He couldn't let that happen. He couldn't imagine losing all of this.

By the time he felt amped up enough to actually attack their opponent, he found himself face-to-face with some kind of....well, he wasn't sure. It resembled the Gates from back home, in the most vague of ways, but had a color and energy that he couldn't associate with anything other than the shockwave that had sent them all flying backward before. Frowning, he tried to shove his way through it.

That was not the right choice.

He yelped in pain, shaking the arm that had touched it. What? He stumbled backward, watching the barrier with wonder, breathing labored as he tried to recover from his last senseless action.

A bone searing fatigue ripped through Lark's body. Ben shimmered and faded like a flickering light that pulsed before brilliantly exploding. Barely there, the familiar nudged Lark's cheek as she fell to a knee. This had been a terrible choice to make, but she'd make it again.

"M'all right," she muttered to Ben, closing her eyes as she grasped at the threads of strength that threatened to snap with each passing moment.

When the cloak fell away from Caelius Mandy for the first time actually got to see the master hunters face. And proceeded to have her brain break slightly. He wasn't a perfect match but he was eerily close looking to a certain teacher way back on a train ride. A certain teacher she was wishing she really had knifed now.

....at least that answered her question of whatever happened to him.

Pushing aside these thoughts for the much more important task of getting the Jack out of this barrier Mandy pushed at the glowing blue light as she saw Riley pass through. Only Mandy was slightly less successful and just managed to shock herself, stumbling back from the barrier and cursing as she felt the heaviness in the air increase if that was at all possible.

She watched as Caelius moved, it was disturbing how quickly he worked. Cloak flying easily ignoring all the attacks thrown at him. Why couldn't they have had Red? Someone, anyone who could stop this twisted man. Even as she stood up the barrier rose. The horsemen had spoken of these and without another warning it hit, sending Sammy tumbling backwards onto the ground frozen eyes wide as her chest clenched tight with immense pain.

She couldn't move, it hurt, it hurt like hell again, it didn't burn though, it was something else gnawing at something deep inside her, that cold fire that filled her with FEAR was shrinking bit by bit.

Savior was not expecting this whole barrier thing to suddenly happen, and the monster tried to jump back while it in only to find it shocked her. It was an annoying little zap and she tapped at the wall a few times before smsahing her fist on it fully.

That gave her an even bigger zap and the Marrowstripe stood there, stunned. Oops.

Landing a few feet away from Caelius, Shun glanced to the side to see Mitsu joining him. She had stayed close, as he said. Nodding to her, he soon turned his attention back to the Hunter. There had to be a way to strike him down... if not to end him for good.

Arcs of light suddenly shimmered out and they were all ensnared. Looking around at the barrier surrounding them all, he narrowed his eyes and struck the shield in an attempt to break through. To a lesser extent, he felt something rather familiar to when the hunter before them had all but sucked him dry of FEAR at the house. Tensing up, he hissed and backed away, finding it harder to stand after that.

"Mitsu.. get out of here if you can," he hissed lowly.

Something about this was way too easy. She'd seen him in action, this...this wasn't right. Before she could voice her concerns she heard the crackle, saw the flash of blue, and felt the weight of the barrier against her; so heavy she couldn't even bring herself to struggle. Her arms felt heavy, her legs were weights, but she didn't feel like she was in too much pain. No, she was just weak.

Yes. Weak. That was exactly what she was.

Kill him.

She heard it like an echo in her mind, and for once it wasn't her own voice. No, as far as she knew this man wasn't Dr. H, but he was the closest thing she was going to get. If she could bring back his head, she would drop it right on top of the Mayor's desk.

Then, perhaps, he might reconsider using the school as his patsy.

She clawed herself back to her feet, silently made her way back to Caelius, and waited. The last shudder from the electricity running through her body left her, and her white, glowing eyes rested very apathetically on him.

And then the whips came.

It was nothing personal, her expression told him as the razor edges of her tentacles lashed at him wildly, tearing away at his cloak. Just business. He should understand. He had business of his own, she was sure.

Little pieces of the cloth stuck to her tentacles. She would keep them as trophies later - since she wasn't planning on keeping his head for herself.

Invictus knew too well that things were going far too easily, especially for the man who stood in front of them. He acted as though such a group of students attacking him was nothing, and..to be honest, even Invictus would have held a certain level of confidence over their numbers as well. And then it came - the familiar snapping arcs of light that had been used against them in the past.

Their twisted little fences.

"I see we're starting this game again." Invictus said, clearly not amused as he moved to push through the barrier, moving through it as it crackled around his clothing and he moved through it like it was a fly on his back. Nothing, it was nothing, and he didn't even have burns to show for the attempt.

"A little game and dance that goes the same every time, Caelius. You need stronger tethers if you're going to play this way." Conquest said as he walked through to begin a real assault this time.

The barrier surrounded them seconds after West got in his incredibly lame shot, seeming to spring up from a handful of odd blue points that resembled knives. Had those been there all along? If so, that Caelius had planned this whole thing. Typical.

West looked off to one side as Riley shouldered her way out of their imprisonment. That didn't look so hard. The boil took a deep breath and followed, the shock of leaving the barrier stunning him for a moment. It seemed the few students and Horsemen who had escaped were continuing to pummel the crap out of the hunter. West could handle that.
