At least obedience was something Zar was good at, not complaining in the least with complying with Barth's request, even if as he did so, some inner voice yelped at the idea of getting dust from his feet on someone else's sofa.

"Quite. I'll er, I'll take some measurements then, shall I?" Thorns began to make worried twists under the sofa.
"You- you keep the pen, just write them down."
He leaned forward, fiddling uselessly with the cuff of Zar's pantleg, as if to roll it, before realizing what he was doing, "...I'll err, measurement tape. Please."

Zar nodded calmly, doing his damndest to be professional and not let himself give away how anxious he actually was, paper he was fine with, people, not so much, he did arch a brow at Barth's distraction however, his surprise at even the idle fiddling making the paper feathers on his wings rustle as they bristled slightly, but he found his grounding. The pen.
Pen. Yes. Pen. Pen would help. He handed over the measuring tape before sorting himself out to use the feather as a makeshift notepad.
"Much better. Whenever you are ready."

Barth accepted the measuring tape, holding the it just by the tip, so that the heavier part dropped, bounced off the cushion, and settled in the floor.
He hesitated again, holding the tape.
"Have these been trimmed recently?"

Zar gave Barth a very searching look. He always assumed the worst and assumed this meant his hooves looked messy somehow rather than any other meaning that might have been inferred and his tone was surprisingly huffy as he stated. "Yes, before I came here, and I file them regularly." Admitting that was surprisingly difficult he found, not exactly the most macho of things. At least he hadn't had to admit he polished their upper surface aswell.
"Hopefully it shouldn't interfere with the measurements in any major way?"

"Yes, no, that's alright, means the figures will be on the accurate-ish side. For how they usually are. I suspect, I mean, I haven't fitted hooves before. Let's see. Probably we'll need..."
He measured the length, called out the number.
"And err,"
He measured the widest part, and called that out as well, then near the back.
"And traction is the issue here, right?"

Zar jotted down the numbers with startling speed, almost as soon as Barth had even uttered them, seeming to need next to no time beteen hearing his words and putting pen to paper. He didn't even really need to think about what he was doing, replying.
"Yes indeed. Traction, very much so, anything that would help to get a grip on slippery, polished or varnished surfaces would be fantastic."

The speed seemed to be just as sweat-inducing as anything else Zar had done or said. Barth tried not to pay attention to the sound of it on the paper's surface.
"Well," Barth said, a trifle sharply, "that's all the numbers. No need for you to visit between now and...and whenever. No charge," he added, and more desperately thought, and no paperwork.

Zar couldn't help but look pleasantly surprised by this. Barth was startlingly helpful, it was a welcome little discovery.
"Thank you, I'm much obliged. I'll bring you the fee waiver next time I come to visit then?" he offered the paper feather to him helpfully, putting both his hooves firmly back on the floor.
"Or I could write it up now?" he wasn't sure why but he had the feeling it wouldn't be necissary right now.

"No. No, definitely not now. Don't err- don't worry about it," Christof, he thought desperately, he could take care of...signing things and looking over things but they'd just keep going and going and he needed delaying tactics but most importantly for Zar to leave.
He took the paper,
"It's been very nice meeting you, thank you for dropping by, no- no need for waivers, or waiver waivers,"

Zar found it hard to hide how much in his element he felt around the apparently somewhat irritated demon, and had it not been for the fact he wanted Barth to actually do something for him, he might have pushed the issue of paperwork a little further. But, for now, he needed to be footsure, and that meant being a little less pedantic than usual. He got to his feet with a grateful little nod.
"The pleasure is all mine." he could hardly keep the little purr out of his tone as he said it. "I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I'll see you then." With a little flourish of his tail which was completely unintentional he turned to saunter out of the room, a great deal more confident than he'd felt when he first arrived. And he wasn't even sure why.
