Did you ever get to play with LEGOs as a child? If so, continue. If not, skip to the convenient divider. Minecraft is like virtual LEGOs. With zombies. Yeah. The goal is to do whatever you want. Wanna explore? There are literally billions of blocks of random, unique terrain for you to discover. Want to build a sweet house/palace/city? Go for it! Just like LEGOs, you can build anything, do anything, be anything! Just watch out for nightfall (only applies on 'Survival mode'. Creative is ALL building). At night, monsters will pop out and attack you, and some of them can ruin your hard work. ============================= Y'know, just go back and reread the other stuff. The whole LEGOs thing was to bring up some nostalgic memories of building anything you wanted to. sweatdrop Mab is master of explanation. If you are still curious, I would highly advise SeaNanners' Lets Play series. 18 (or so) episodes of around 10 minutes each. Here be the first oneOh, and it's only the (as far as I know) MOST successful indie game ever created. Notch (nickname of creator) built the game from the ground up over a few years, and now, only about 2 years after the first official available version, it has over 4 million sold copies, with another 12 million or so who have registered an account to play the free version (no survival, just a very early version of Creative mode)

MAYBE WE COULD BUILD THE TEMPLE =O
I dont think there was a limit last year? Maybe just a suggested one? Not sure

@Iscah: ...nope. I rule my tiny cave home with the redstone maze OF DEATH
Because redstone is worth it
@Lorika: I had the idea last year, but never went through with it because I didn't play creative. But now it is an option from the startup menu and all that fun! I'll see what I can do for having a server up from my laptop all the time....just don't go crashing it!
@Hana: I KNOW, MINECRAFT IS A GIFT
GUYS LETS ALL CHIP IN (only half joking)

Yes, TRG, MINECRAFT!!! xd
@Lorika - - YES!!! That would be amazing :3 heart
@Mab - - I don't dabble with redstone; it's bad enough I fall off my buildings and kill myself all the time XD Couple of deadly killers: Castles in the sky, and GIANT teepee tents. EDIT: Yea, chipping in for purple would be pretty cool if I had money lol
And why do you put tiny print, TRG? It makes me want to read it but I have such a hard time doing so!! lol

That guy's commentary cracked me up. Poor animals. D: BEATEN.
Anyways, looks like fun. It's a game you pay for then? Or is it one of those where you pay for whoever's server?

It's a game you do pay for, and you can play single player, creative mode, or multiplayer but a server does need to be hosted. I don't think servers cost money, my boyfriend hosts our own, but I feel bad saying I'm a bit selfish to let it stay where it is (we haven't touched it in a while after we built our kingdom; he stopped playing stare ) It might cost money to rent a server though, and we might have to share it with a whole lot of other people. But when I bought the game, it was $25 (just half a year ago) and usually the Minecraft website has deals going on, like % off or something. You could also play trial version on the website itself, I believe.

Uhh....no?
I watched all of SeaNanners stuff before I even got the game. His reaction upon entering the Nether was just.....hilarious? priceless? brutally honest?
On a slightly related note, who here has a Steam account?

I dont have oneI'm afraid. Hana - it's like... a big games sharing database thing. You can buy and download games and manage a profile and stuff.

If you have a facebook, it's kinda like that, profile wise. You can see what games other people play, if they're online, and what they're playing if you wanted to join in...it also has a simple IM and voice chat system for easy communication (those will work in-game, too. huge help sometimes)
...beyond that, it's like a HUGE PC game retailer, except that every so often they will have sales, and you can get great games for wicked-cheap. 50% off is the lowest %-off I have ever seen, and 75% is extremely common (not to mention that the games are already priced low due to the digital-ness)
(and on the technical side, Steam will automatically update and patch your games for you...everything can be opened right in the interface, no need to hunt through the harddrive/desktop for your shortcut...yeah)
