Herryk, distracted by Calder's tidbits of advice, began chopping and hacking at the eel that the kelpie had placed before him. Everything that Calder said made sense, and Herryk was incredibly lucky to have a friend as knowledgeable and wise as Calder.
"So.. Herryk knows that Calder has never dated a ghoul but.. does Calder know what ghouls like?" It was entirely probable that Calder had many more ghoul friends than Herryk could even imagine. Maybe they sat around and chatted about boils and ... stuff. "Like... Herryk doesn't know. Different kisses and such? Should Herryk play music? Should Herryk light .. c-candles?" He would much rather not do that, but if Calder thought that Freya would like candles, Herryk would do it. For his ghoul. She deserved nothing less.
"Calder is right. The world is not going to be ending soon, but... sometimes it is just so easy to get caught up in the moment, yes? Like... Herryk is kissing Freya's neck and the next thing Herryk knows Freya is tearing off Herryk's cape and then..." The draugr cleared his throat.
"Have Calder and Barth talked about a pace they are both comfortable with? Maybe Barth is afraid he is moving too slow, as well? It is very important to talk with Barth about this type of thing." He was totally full of hot air. Herryk had no idea why he was giving advice to Calder.
"But Calder probably already knew that."

Calder felt a bit hot around the cravat, and focused on his snake cutting more than anything now. "Well, if you feel it would set a romantic mood, then you can do any number of things. I wouldn't light candles since you're undead. The last thing you'd want is to worry and be distracted when all your focus should be on Freya. I've done a date like that and I just used something that glows. There are plenty of minis that are quiet and docile that you could use for a date that give light without fire." He put the rest of the snake in the pot and gestured for Herryk to add in the rest of his eel. Once done, he carried the pot over and filled it with some water and then set it on the stove. He gestured for Herryk to come over to watch as he turned it on medium heat to boil.
He then went over and moved the cutting boards into the sink and cleared things before he wiped everything down, and then sprinkled flour on the table. "Well, I'm not a ghoul but, I know what I like is just the sort things everyone else likes. To be taken out to romantic places, spending time together, experiencing new things together or just old things that feel new because you're with someone, and just...getting to do all the fun things you can only do with a boilfriend." He smiled at the thought, thinking of Barth and how they had kissed each other all the time. He wanted to kiss him now. Pity he couldn't summon the demon here.
"And...most kisses I heard about meant you had to have a long tongue or one you could move all around. My tongue is long but it doesn't do half the things I heard about. I've tried." He stuck his tongue out and tried to twist it into a note, but it did nothing beside curl. He stuck it back in his mouth.
Calder started to mix flour, eggs, and other dry ingredients together into a bowl before he got a big wad of dough. He tossed a blob to Herryk. "Work that in your hands like this." He started to kneed the dough.
"You...and Freya get rather wrapped up in the moment." By the sound of it, Freya was trying to strip Herryk all the time. Go Freya. She was a little spit-fire. "As long as you like it, I guess there is no harm. Just..." He hated to be the downer. "Watch out for mold."

Herryk was listening very carefully to everything Calder had to say. This was very important to the draugr, and he didn't want to miss one little tidbit of information. As he listened, he was following the instructions that Calder was giving him as far as the cooking went -- dropping the mangled eel into the pot, watching as Calder set the pot to a medium heat.
When the kelpie told him to start kneading the dough, Herryk set to it with awkward hands. It was hard to pay attention to the dough and Calder at the same time when obviously it was Calder's words that held the most importance to Herryk.
The draugr was silent until the topic of mold came up. Herryk knew what mold was in the conventional sense, but he wasn't certain how it related to the topic at hand.
"Whoa whoa whoa," Herryk held up his hands, oblivious to the bits of dough and the dusting of flour, "Mold? Mold? Mold? What?"

Calder became even more embarassed when Herryk flustered, but instead of flailing about, he sheilded himself from flying bits of dough. A few pieces got into his hair, and he pouted. He knew he wouldn't be able to get them out just yet with his hairs already doughy. He already planned to take a swim anyways, or maybe a shower.
"Well, you said you and Freya were getting ready to make that step. You just got to be careful about catching it in case you two aren't ...compatible...Fear wise." He didn't expect to be giving this sort of talk when he had just received it a year ago in Nurse Cricket's class, and even then he only knew the details she gave them.
"...so, you should also think of....protection charms with those candles and music." He went to check his pot, but it wasn't even close to boiling. He knew that. He just couldn't believe that Herryk was standing here and already at that point in his relationship. He had hooked up with Freya in about the same point as he had with Barth, and yet here they were, already having this talk. Was he that slow? Was he not taking charge like Freya was?
"So, since we're sharing. Is there...anything special that Freya likes when you two are together?" Anything Calder might be able to use on Barth.

Herryk's entire demeanor changed when Calder asked if there were special things that Freya liked. Herryk's thoughts went back to the evening they'd spent together after Sif's wedding. There had been ... many things that Freya had enjoyed.
"Well, Calder," Herryk began very matter-of-factly, "Freya likes it when Herryk touches her wings. The base of them, where they meet her back." He cleared his throat, an unfocused look in his eyes. "And biting, but not hard, Calder. On Freya's neck." Was it getting hot in here?
"And kissing. Everywhere." Herryk tried to refocus on the dough he'd been mutilating. He went back to kneading it. "Is it getting warm in this room, Calder?" Herryk's voice broke on Calder's name. It didn't even occur to Herryk that Freya might not appreciate all of the information that Herryk was divulging. Herryk was just glad to have someone to talk to.
"Tugging on hair," Herryk continued in some sort of awful falsetto. "But not too rough." What had he been doing? Oh, right, the dough.

Calder went to quickly stir the pot, helping the brown the eels and snakes and let them make their own sauce. There would be a nice tang with the venom as he pressed the wooden spoon down on one of the venom sacks, watching it sizzle and add to the rich, brown sauce. It was already starting to smell nicely, and he stirred without any reason now than just to avoid looking at Herryk.
It sounded...rather active - his and Freya's relationship. He somewhat missed that with Barth, but that didn't mean he could do most of those things with Barth. It really didn't involve running about or anything. Would his boilfriend like that.
He let out a nervous snicker. "Ah, so Freya's a nipper." He couldn't blame her. He was a bite of a biter too, but that was kelpies for you. When he continued, he felt even warmer and as Herryk noted it, Calder turned on the oven. "Oh yeah. That's just the oven. Yeah." Right. Not really.
He turned and went to his mound of dough, before taking a backing sheet, made to house a massive amount of baked goods for any hungry, baking monster, and greased it with Scram. He started to divide his dough into balls and rolled it up before plopping it on the pan, hoping Herryk would follow his example. "Well, it seems you two have...done a lot of exploring. I don't think you have to worry. She seems to type to like what she's getting and taking what she might want. You should do that too. She probably wants to make you happy as much as you are worrying about making her happy. That's part of the fun of it." He was supposed to be the older boil here. He had to offer some advice. "Try blowing a raspberry on her cheek. She might like that." Yeah, that was sexy, right? He was pretty much shooting in the dark now.

Oh good, so it was just the oven that was rapidly heating the room to almost unbearable heights. Herryk almost felt like he was on fire.
"Yes, lots of exploring. Herryk... is trying to plan things out so it is perfect." He watched Calder's motions carefully before turning his attention back to his own dough. Herryk ripped off little rounds of dough just like Calder did before rolling them into rough-looking balls. He plopped them on the pan as well while he mulled over the whole raspberry-thing.
What in Jack's name was a raspberry?
Herryk sent Calder a strange look. He might as well ask.
"What is this raspberry thing that Calder speaks of? Herryk has never heard of this thing before."

Calder looked to the undead, not sure if he should even show as it was just an offhand idea that just popped in his head without any real thought. It was more like a slip of the mind, but now that the boil had asked, he had to explain.
"Well, it's like. You press your lips on their skin and blow." Hmm. That sounded a little odd.
Reaching up, he grabbed Herryk's firm jaw, flour and dough sticking on his fingers, and then blew against the boil's cheek. The noise instantly made him giggle, and he pushed the boil's face away as he laughed. It didn't help that he had a bit of stubble that reminded him of Barth. "Okay. Okay. Maybe not that." He giggled, shaking his head.
When he finally finished laughing, he thought of something, and turned back to look at Herryk. "Have you ever bought or made her something nice? Like, something to wear? Ghouls love things like that." Calder loved things like that. "Maybe an outfit or something else to wear. Something maybe to make her feel loved or even sexy."

Herryk burst into laughter at the sound of the raspberry reverberating through his ear. That was not something that would excite Freya, Herryk was almost certain of it. Maybe if he wanted to make her burst into laughter, it would work. Not if he wanted to get lost in the moment. Definitely nothing passionate about raspberries, at least in this sense of the word.
"Calder, do not try such a thing on Barth. Herryk is not sure how he would handle it." He rubbed the flour and dough off of his cheek and grinned down at the kelpie, shaking his head.
"Freya did say that she wanted Herryk to take her shopping for clothes. Herryk thought it was a good idea." He wasn't exactly sure how a new tunic would make Freya feel sexy, and the ghoul already had more shoes than she'd ever wear.
"Does Calder mean like pants? Or pajamas? Freya already has a million shoes and more underpants than Herryk can count." She did have some amazing underpants, that was certain. The thought caused Herryk to clear his throat. Dangerous territory, that was.

"Well, depends on the clothes. Buying clothes for someone is like giving them a present, but also saying 'I think you'd look good in this'. It says this is what you like to see that person in, but not as an insult. Since you're her boilfriend, buy her something that would make her feel pretty or sexy. Something YOU'D like to see her in. They'd cherish that you thought of them and went out to pick something just for them." Calder beamed, feeling more comfortable in familiar territory and away from other comments.
"Take her shopping, but you should go out on your own and get her something when she's not around. A present. Doesn't have to be a special occasion. If you ever get better at sewing, you could make her something. All in all, it's something from the heart." And maybe other places as well.
He checked on his pot before he went back to divide the last of his dough up. "Alright. Looks like the rolls are ready. Going to pop them in now." He took the tray and then brushed on some butter on them before sliding them into the oven, shutting it and then going to clean up. "Now all we do is wait."

Herryk nodded slowly, soaking up all of the advice that Calder was giving. It was good advice, but it was also worrisome. What if Herryk picked out something that looked terrible on Freya? She already had a ton of clothes, too. Humming thoughtfully, Herryk watched Calder butter the rolls before slipping them into the oven.
"Herryk is horrible at sewing," he grumbled, "but he did make that scarf for Freya. Maybe. It almost looks like a scarf," he amended. "Flowers? What does Calder think about flowers?" Herryk thought flowers seemed like a ghouly thing, and ghouly presents were good, right? Besides, flowers were pretty and smelled nice, so that was always a plus.
Why did this seem so complicated? Rather, why was Herryk making this so complicated for himself?

"I'm always a fan of flowers, but be picking about flowers. They have their own language and can mean different things. You don't want to give her flowers than mean 'Just friends' or anything like that. She might think you're going to be scared off. Then again, she could just say they were pretty and not know. If you know if she has a favorite flower, pick that. If not, pick one that makes you think of her. Usually I just pick ones that taste good."
He wiped off the cutting boards, putting them back into the cabinets for other students to use. "Candies are nice or whatever treat Freya likes to eat. I'd be serious getting her something to wear later though. That way they can wear it and always think of you. Flower are good for a time, but after they turn to mush, you can't see them every day and think of the person that gave them to you." He took the ends of the vegetables and started to chew on a leafy end, knowing that it wouldn't work in the dish he was making. Chewing, he cleaned off the counter. Swallowing, he looked back at the boil. "What do you think Freya might look good in?"

"Herryk does not ... will Freya be eating the flowers?" Herryk wasn't entirely sure that's what one did with flowers. "Herryk was thinking that they would just sit in a pretty pot somewhere, but... Freya does like to eat." A hearty sigh caused his cheeks to poof out slightly. "What if Herryk finds a poison flower and Freya eats it and ... maybe if Herryk buys Freya chocolates and brings her flowers, Freya will not eat the flowers. She will eat the candy instead." Herryk looked pleased and nodded slyly. Calder was so smart.
"What would... what would Freya look good in?"
That was a good question. He thought of a particular moment. She'd never looked more beautiful. Leaning on the counter, Herryk placed his chin in his hands and leaned on his elbows. His tone took on an almost dreamy tone as he spoke.
"Firelight."
.. ... ....
Herryk cleared his throat after a long stretch of time.
"And Herryk's cape?" His voice broke on 'cape'. Herryk cleared his throat. Maybe this was the wrong train of thought.
"A dress?" He coughed.

While Herryk went into a dazed lover's dream, Calder set his elbows on the counter, placed his head in his hands, and watched him. He knew that look and found it downright adorable. "Firelight, huh?" He repeated after the undead let his thoughts slip.
And then he caught himself and mentioned a cape, and then a dress. "Maybe a dress in the color of firelight. Something a little warm, and we could always see about that cape. Dresses do tend to get nippy, and it's always good to be warm, though I'm sure you could still hold her close if she catches a chill." He nudged his hip against the boil's as he passed him, placing the dishes he used away and then the sponges. They were cleaned up now and all that was left was the cooking.
Calder returned, hoping up on the counter. "A dress would be nice. I'd plan a date out soon after so that she could wear it, or maybe before a dance." He smiled.

"Herryk thinks that Freya would like dancing. Maybe get Freya a nice dress and then take her dancing? Then a dinner that Herryk has prepared... and then flowers and chocolates?" Oooh, this was sounding excellent.
"With candles? And music? What kind of music does Calder think would be best? Herryk wants to do everything right, of course. It has to be perfect, Calder. It is very important." Herryk's face was utterly serious as he glanced up at the kelpie.
"Should Herryk buy the dress and give it to Freya and tell her to wear it? Maybe on a specific day." He nodded slowly, lost in thought. "And then Herryk, what should Herryk wear on this date?" He turned a troubled gaze to Calder. "Herryk only has one nice outfit that he wore to Freya's sister's wedding. Herryk will need new clothes, too."
