Ennéa's smile wavered a little. "Family, huh?" She pulled her knees to her chest. Phoenix squad was extremely important to her, of course, she'd do anything for them. Had put herself in danger more times than she could count for them -- and vice versa. She was so grateful to know they were all watching her back and supporting her. But family....? Family was Tobias and her mother, back home in the tiny apartment she'd lived in since she was six.
It was an odd twisty feeling to realize that might no longer be true. "Yeah... I guess we are." She replied slowly.
Ennéa then smirked, firmly pushing the twisty feeling away. "So, does that make you the mom and Jordan the dad?"
She made a face at the thought of going to Dr. H for therapy. "He'd still probably be more sympathetic than Caelius though." She said dryly.
"But you won't end up like that poor hunter anyway." She said firmly. "Like you said, we're Phoenix. I got your back." Ennéa gave Maddie a cheesy but earnest thumbs up. "And everyone else does too."

Madison's cheeks colored, just a little. "Nah, because... that'd make Robert a kid, right? Well... maybe he is, kind of, but. That'd just be too weird!" She grinned at the idea.
"You're definitely the little sister, though~" she said, tossing the pillow at Ennea. "And... yeah. I've got yours too, y'know? We proved that in that room with all those freaks. Nothing's gonna get us down, not for good. We rise again, right?"

Ennéa caught the pillow. "Exact--!" She started to say but was interrupted by a small coughing fit. "Sorry." She said, thumping her chest and clearing her throat. Ennéa tried again. "Exactly! We always rise again." She nodded.
Ennéa fished a tissue out and blew her nose several times. "I am so ready to be healthy again. Any time now." She muttered.
She looked speculatively at Maddie. "Say, I don't suppose you'd swap noses with me?" She asked in a joking and yet semi-serious manor. "Please?"

"Dude, don't say that like... outside of this room, ok? Dr. H might take you seriously." Madison looked up at the corners of Ennea's room just in case there was a camera there. You never knew. Not with Dr. H.
Fortunately, everything seemed safe for now. "Drink lots of water," she said, seriously.

"I have and I will." Ennéa sighed, annoyed but not at Maddie. She'd been drinking so much water and herbal tea lately it was a wonder she didn't float away. At least she was getting better. Somewhat.
"So are you going to bed now?" She asked Maddie.

"And put some aloe on your nose or something, or someone might think you're a monster too," Madison teased, lightly. She grinned, then fumbled her cell phone out of her pocket at the mention of bedtime. "Eh. Maybe in a bit~ I should do my hair pretty soon, though. You like it? Bix evened it out for me." She fluffed her newly shortened hair. It still startled her sometimes when she ran her fingers through it.

"Oh yeah! It looks nice." Ennéa hurriedly replied, never mind the fact that she had completely missed Maddie's new haircut until the other girl called attention to it.
Ennéa wasn't very good with hair or any other typically 'girly things' for that matter. She liked them and had always been vaguely curious about makeup and whatnot but her mother had always been busy and it wasn't like Tobias knew the proper way to put on lipstick or how to straighten hair. Ennéa never had any real friends, let alone female friends, to give her advice either.
But now she did. Ennéa looked speculatively at Maddie. She had friends. Maddie had even gone as far as to call her a 'little sister'.
There was that odd twist of guilt again but Ennéa quickly shoved it aside.
The older hunter knew all that girly stuff -- Maddie was an expert at it even, as far as Ennéa was concerned. "Hey Maddie..." She began, feeling suddenly shy, "um, do you think you could show me how to style my hair sometime?"
Ennéa sheepishly ran a hand through her shaggy mane of pink curls. She had lost her hairbrush again so it was unbrushed. Amazing how she could lose things in such a small dorm room.
It would be nice to learn how to better control her hair though, without always having to tie it up into bao all the time. That was about the only hair style Ennéa knew.

"Hmm~ I think I probably could," Madison said with a smile. "Keeping it up for fighting is probably a good idea, though. Or at least it'd keep your hair safe from getting burned off." She made a face. Her hair would grow back, of course, but... ugh.
"Lesson one: wash it. And brush it."

Ennéa nodded attentively. "Wash and brush. Got it."
Washing she did regularly. After all, getting sweaty and splattered with mud or blood or worse was all part of a typical day at Deus. "I washed my hair last night."
Her hairbrush though...
Ennéa frowned and hopped off the bed to look underneath it. "Hang on a sec." She wasn't sure exactly where her brush had gotten off to but she thought saw it under there when she was looking for clean socks the other day.
You really need to clean your room, Pinkie. Baraz idly teased.
"Oh hush." Ennéa told him. She wiggled further under her bed. Dirty laundry, some dusty bunnies, her old backpack...
Oh, hey wait. She looked inside the backpack and triumphantly extracted her hairbrush. Ennéa couldn't remember why exactly the brush was in there to being with but whatever.
She scooted back out and held up the hairbrush for her friend to see. "Found it!" She said with a grin. She handed the brush to Maddie. Ennéa then sat down on the bed and turned her back to Maddie in order to allow the older girl better access to work with her hair.

Madison accepted the brush, tugging pink hair free of the bristles. "Keep your brush, um, unclogged and it'll work better," she said, flicking the hairball into the trash before turning to Ennea. "Brush gently..."
The motion of the hairbrush was soothing, as was the feel of hair in her hands. Though Bix's hair was cooler, really. Still. "Your hair is so curly! It's natural, right? You don't do anything to make it do this?" She couldn't imagine the younger Hunter using a curling iron or any kind of product at all.

Ennéa tried to sit still and not fidget while Maddie brushed her hair. "Yeah, I got it from my Dad. His hair was really curly too, according to my Mom." Ennéa tugged on a curl and then released it, letting it sproing back. She tugged on it again, this time wrapping it around her finger.
"I like my hair but it gets in the way all the time. That's why I always have it tied back." She released the lock of hair and it sproinged back again.
"I only know how to do my bao though. Do you think you could show me how to put it in a bun or a braid? Every time I try it keeps coming loose."

"According to your mom? Did you, like... not know him?" Madison asked, a little tentatively; the hairbrush sped up a bit in response to that faint twang of tension. "And yeah, sure, I can show you how~ if you can do your hair like this, I mean, that's like two halves of a braid right there, y'know? You got a mirror anywhere?" A cursory glance had revealed not a single mirror. Lots of tissues, though.

"Oh, Dad died when I was six." Ennéa said carelessly. "I don't really remember him that well." Ennéa released the curl she was pulling on to allow Maddie to brush that side of her head. She folded her hands in her lap to keep from further interfering with the older girl's brushing. "It's a little dumb, but I remember his funeral clearer than most of my memories of him."
Ennéa started to shake her head at Maddie's question but caught herself just in time. "Nope, no mirror, sorry. I just use the bathroom one."

"Oh, I... sorry," Madison said, abashed; the movement of the brush stilled for a moment before resuming. "Well, uh, we're going to need a mirror for you to learn... maybe sometime when you're healthy and stuff?" Ugh, Ennea'd better not still be contagious, or she was doomed.
"But, here..." A few quick twists and a hair tie and Madison put the brush down on the edge of the bed. "There. A bun."

"It's okay!" Ennéa reassured Maddie. "I don't mind you asking." She sniffled and then blew her nose on a tissue before continuing. "Sorry." She said sheepishly.
"Anyway, it's nice being able to talk about stuff like this. It used to be Tobias was the only person who ever listened to me."
Ennéa's usual gloomy thoughts about her brother were quickly cut off by Maddie finishing styling her hair. "Oooh!" She felt around at her hair and head. "Thanks Maddie!" She said brightly.
Ennéa hopped off her bed and headed towards the door, intending on heading to the bathroom mirror. "I wanna go see it!"
