"That..." Harm was puzzling about her answer, looking at her and how her claws dug into the couch fabric. "doesn't seem right."
She wasn't going to accuse GrusCat of lying outright but sufficed to say she didn't accept the first answer given. If she wasn't military and it didn't seem like she was since that was not her first reason then she had to fall into the other category. She tensed, physically, and studied Grus. She wasn't angry the cat was lying but she would be if she turned out to want to hurt her. Being cute was no excuse for being evil and shouldn't be a cover for it, either.
"Are you part of the Negaverse?"
Would she admit it if she was? Harm tossed the word around more than she should not really knowing how to apply it to people except to know the Negaverse liked to hurt people like her. They were the opposite of senshi. But not senshi like Lesath. She was something else altogether, still bad but still kind of a senshi. Just a different group of them or something. It was hard to tell who was who until they hurt you or helped you. Still, what damage could a cat do besides clawing her?

The tiny cat mouth dropping wasn't as effective as say, a human mouth doing the same thing. It couldn't properly convey the absolute shock she felt as this green haired girl mentioned the agents of Chaos. Who exactly was this Harmony? A senshi perhaps? of maybe a Negaverse agent herself. As Grus studied her, she judged that no, she did not seem like the type to let the Negaverse get ahold of her. Besides, if she were, she would have known about the cat thing earlier right? Unless this wasn't their doing at all....
But still, her brain couldn't wrap itself around this girl being a part of the magical world. How could she not sense it?
She relaxed her judging muscles, and said "No, I am not a part of the Negaverse, though it surprises me that you know who they are. I am assuming you are not as well. So that would make you one of three other factions that I know of."
Blue eyes bored into Harmony's and she asked "So which one is it?"

“I’m what you called me. I’m just me. A civilian, I guess.”
Oh, how to explain it to a person that didn’t seem to be part of the Negaverse but didn’t know what to make of her. There were so many options and so many reasons Harmony could give for how she knew of the Negaverse and of Dark Senshi and Knights and even the Good Senshi. Though she was only just now getting used to the good guys not all being good guys she was still stuck very much in the middle of a game she didn’t have rules for but kept popping up in her life demanding she play along.
The direct approach was probably the best.
“I died. In space. In Virgo, I think. Me and a bunch of other civilians, I guess. I don’t really know why I’m here.”
She was still wrestling with the possibility that she’d been meant to die in space only some fluke of fate brought her back. After all, she hadn’t seen anyone else from up there back in Destiny City to confirm whether or not she was the only one that made it back to her mom. Most of her still thanked Camelot if that was the case. He’d always watched over her up there and kept her and her mother’s hope alive. She came to love him for that and continued that familial love to this day.
“But no, I guess there’s nothing special about me. I’m still trying to figure out what to do with all this and every time I think life is going normal again something like this happens and I’m talking to a cat.”
She gave a sideways glance at the feline and felt sheepish. Another chapter in Wonderland.
“No offense.”

Grus didn't believe her at first. How could a regular civilian know not just about the battle going on, but the name of one of the factions as well? But as Harmony explained more, Grus began to understand better the situation she was in. As one of the civilians thrust into the Surrounding, she was a rare case wherein a civilian knew whether they wanted to or not. And she had even been one of the poor people to die. That was unfortunate.
"Ah, so you became one of those big gold ball things in the Surrounding did you?" She said with an empathetic air."Can't imagine what it's like to die. I'm sorry you were shoved into this whole thing, but I assure you that what you know isn't even the half of it." She wasn't sure if that was going to help the girl or not.
The red cat laughed, saying "None taken. I think it's strange that I am a cat in the first place. So talking to one has to be just as strange."
Yes, Wonderland was quite the place. And they didn't even have to go down a rabbit hole to get there.

Harmony shuddered bodily at the mention of her own death and the ball of light she'd become. It was frustrating to see and be nearly unable to affect anything, let alone have any mastery over your fate. And she remembered, clearly, a time when everything simply ceased. No noise, no being, no sight. A blank void. Everything had stopped and then the next thing she knew she was back in her bedroom like all that time was nothing more than a bad dream.
"I don't want to know anymore." she responded bitterly. "The more I know the more this stuff finds me. I just want to go back to being normal and popular and happy."
Though it made her feel marginally better that she wasn't talking to a member of the Negaverse. Having them know where she lived would just be too creepy. That only left two more possibilities that she knew of and she was kind of curious to find out which it was.
"So...are you a knight like Camelot or are you a senshi. Is that what they're called, senshi?" She couldn't quite remember.
Though she was glad the cat wasn't offended.

Grus nodded, saying gently "I know how you feel. When I first got tossed into this whole ordeal, I was so overwhelmed that I ended up missing class for a few days. I couldn't focus long enough on anything!" Remembering the beginning of her journey as a senshi shocked her. That was over a year ago! Had she really been fighting for that long? It felt so natural now.....
She didn't like that feeling at all.
"Ah Camelot. I remember meeting him back when I was a new senshi." She said, answering both of Harmony's questions in one sentence. "He's a very good guy. One of the nicer people I've met, powered or not." The memory of the Knight brought back her embarrassment at her first attack, a simple cloud of feathers. Her Super attack wasn't much better, but it was more destructive than a ball of pillow stuffing.

"Yeah." Harm responded, knowing how she'd handled the whole mess. She'd had nightmares regularly that she'd died again and couldn't sleep. She'd see monsters everywhere and hated to be alone. She couldn't think or concentrate and her school work suffered. She'd had to fake every smile and laugh, force herself through every day. Everything felt worse than it was and she wanted to hide from it all.
Thankfully, that was mostly behind her. She'd been attacked since by a Dark Mirror senshi but Camelot was there to save the day again. She didn't know what she'd do without him. She certainly didn't want to find out. Not having him around would be too much to handle.
"He's my hero." Harm agreed of Camelot, affection unmistakable in her tone. She loved him dearly and wondered why her mom couldn't find someone like that to date.
"So your a senshi. One of the good ones, I guess. Do you think that's why you're a cat?"

A smile played across the feline's mouth. "It's good to have a hero. I am not sure I have one though." Sure she had people that she admired. Polaris was nice and cared a great deal for her. Kallichore was active, not afraid to get her hands dirty. Chaonis was...well he was Chaonis. Tough and loud and obnoxious, but loyal. They were all dear friends to her, but idols or heroes? Not so much. Colleagues perhaps, and friends.
As for being a cat..."You know, it's a mystery to me. I was just hanging around and them POOF, I'm a cat. I've met another senshi that is a cat, and a third senshi said her civilian roommate is one as well. So I'm hoping the Negaverse is also affected." If they weren't, Destiny City was in a lot more trouble than they previously thought.
"But yes, I'm on the good side." A yawn escaped the cats mouth, even though it was the middle of the day or leading into afternoon. Her increased smelling ability told her the chicken was cooking nicely. Mouth watering she peeked around Harmony's shoulder, hoping to discreetly check out the timer.

"Yeah, Marie said the same thing. I think she's a civilian, too, but I can't be sure. You guys aren't really much for putting your secrets out there. Can't blame you, I guess."
The story seemed to be the same. One minute happy human and next furry feline. Still a mild thing as far as the weirdness of Destiny City went. Maybe some day she'd petition the City Council to actually change the name of the city to Wonderland. It was more fitting in her mind, anyway. She hadn't much found her Destiny here unless it had something to do with dying and being plagued by strange events.
"I'm glad you're on the good side. I don't need any more time spent with the bad guys."
The timer dinged and Harmony prepared two plate, one smaller and one normal sized for herself, and put it where Grus cat could easily reach it. She didn't wan the former human eating on the floor but that seemed simplest and easiest so she did it. Besides, she was a cat right now and cats were used to that sort of thing, weren't they?
"It's hot but it should be good."

"Well ya know, it's like superman. He's gotta keep it quiet to keep his loved ones safe." Grus wasn't sure if Superman was the right choice. Did he have a family? Or was he one of the superheroes who's parents died? Ah well, Harmony would get the idea anyway.
Her face grew serious at the mention of the bad guys. "Yeah they aren't exactly a nice lot." The fact that she had survived an encounter with the Negaverse was something to be said for the girl. Not many civilians were able to do that. With the ding of the timer, Grus bounced back to the ground, saying "Thank you!" before testing a piece for temperature with a paw. Human habits die hard.
Once it was cool enough, she eagerly dug in, thoroughly enjoying the taste. Much better than what she had over the last couple of days! She didn't mind eating off the floor, as long as it was from a plate or bowl.

Harm ate, sitting back and thinking for a while without saying much. The chicken was good, she was glad. She'd hate to brag about it and them make bad food. She watched Grus!cat eat and smiled to herself. The universe may be a weird place but at least she was getting the hang of it.
And wasn't a cat.
"Yeah. My mom really flipped out when I disappeared up there. It was worse when I died. I don't think I'd ever want to make her worry like that again."
It hadn't been Harm's choice to make her mom worry. It was just as well if she never encountered senshi or the Negaverse again. She'd be fine with going back to a regular civilian existance, no problem. Little did she know her mother was keeping a huge secret from her. If she had she might have pitched a fit until rapture.
"Do you like being a senshi?" She was curious if they did like being combatants in a war and why.

Her mother would react in the same way. It was a concerning thought, realizing that her mother may well have to go through that. There were some close calls, but thanks to friends and an incredible amount of luck, she had escaped. But what if her luck ran out? She had never thought about her family, and how they would react to her being seriously hurt, or even dying. It filled her with emotions she didn't like, so she pushed the thoughts roughly away, choking on the last bit of chicken.
The question distracted her, and she swallowed the last bit of food stuck in her throat before saying "I do. It was strange at first and I was very confused as to why there was fighting going on in the first place. But I feel like I know my place in it, and the whole thing isn't as black and white as I thought."

"I can't imagine." she responded honestly, trying to picture herself as a senshi or a member of the Negaverse. The last thought made her shudder. She didn't want to be a part of the Negaverse...ever. It was like Harry Potter begging not to be Slytherin - there might have been potential for it but she just didn't want it.
She pet Grus as she choked on the chicken, hoping she didn't upset the girl. She hadn't meant to, clearly, and wanted her to be happy despite her predicament. Harm spent a lot of time trying to do that while stuck in space. It had never really worked out but she had tried.
"Have you ever killed anyone?"
Anyone here meaning a member of the Negaverse though she wasn't specific. My this was a morbid topic of conversation! What was she thinking? But, honestly this was her first chance to really talk to a senshi instead of just seeing them fighting and being ordered around. She wanted to know more about the war than just being stuck on one side of it.
"Do you know Camelot?" That was a better question.

The chicken now gone she carefully pushed the plate away with a paw, knowing that the girl was totally right in her statement. Even as a seasoned senshi, Grus wasn't sure even she could imagine everything she had been through if she hadn't been standing right there experiencing it all. Her story would make a hell of a novel. Maybe one day she would write it down and sell it. It could be as popular as Harry Potter!
The next question made her whole body shiver. "I've never killed anyone." She said quietly. "I don't think I ever could." That was the honest truth. Her father was a police officer, and she didn't know for sure. But her suspicion was that he had killed at least one person. But she never asked. And she prayed that she would never be in a position to make that decision.
Remembering Camelot brightened her mood. "I met him once, but it was a long time ago. Probably a year ago. He was a very nice guy. Kept me company while I tried to figure out what the hell I was doing." That was a fun night. She had been watching for bank robbers and instead found herself pondering what this whole fight meant with a Knight from Earth, though when she met him he was but a Page. The same as a new little senshi like herself.
"I'd like to meet him again sometime. Show him that I managed to grow up after all."

"He's kinda like my dad." Harm admitted, about Camelot. "I mean...that's how it feels."
He probably inspired paternal emotions in just about everyone younger than him, she imagined. He just had that patient way about him that screamed father figure. However, in her case, he felt like an actual father figure only she was never quite sure when she'd see him but he tended to come around when she really needed the help. It all kind of stemmed from space. They bonded there.
It was hard to explain to anyone that hadn't been through it what their relationship was. If she could marry her mom off to the knight she'd be fine. Not to mention she didn't think her mom would mind that too much, except, you know, for being completely hung up on Mr. Darrow. Harm had nothing against the librarian. He was a nice guy and helped them both out but he wasn't as dashing as Camelot or nearly as cool.
Thinking this was a lot better than thinking about whether or not she'd killed anyone. Harm, too, hoped she was never put in a position to choose. She was fairly sure she couldn't, too, as she was not violent in any way. She didn't even like the karate lessons her mother used to make her take as a child. All of this would take on new meaning if she ever discovered her mother's secret. Thank God for small favors.
"What are you going to do while you're a cat. Do you have somewhere to stay?"
Hiding a red cat wouldn't be the easiest thing but Harm had done worse in her time.
