Zar nodded understandingly. "I'm generally specialised in very specific multitasking, not generally good with people. Actually sorting, filing, filling things out, that's where I can do a great deal at once. Ask me to chair a board meeting or give any sort of motivational speech and I fall flat on my face. I agree though that so many demons in my father's social circles just generally want to brag. All day every day. If they didn't have other people to do the actual work nothing would ever be accomplished."

Arching a brow delicately at her invitation, he nodded, surprised that she'd be so courteous to him after he'd essentially just derailed whatever it was she'd had planned to do. "Sounds lovely." He stated with earnestness, he was a huge fan of any type of caffeinated beverage and would rarely turn them down. Not to mention he wasn't too keen lingering in the hallway either, he had no idea what the other students in their dorms were like and was quite keen for now to just stick to Riyo who actually seemed amicable enough once he'd gotten clear of the little breach of privacy earlier.

Nodding at his acceptance, Riyo opened the door and stepped aside to let him in. It was a very fancy room, perhaps the definition of decadence, and she kept it very clean. Why, you could almost see your reflection in the polished dark oak floor. It went well with the crimson accented wallpaper, as did all the furniture.

Only one door remained closed, and there were no clues as to what was in it, either. "You don't have to be good with people. You just have to intimidate them enough so they'll leave you alone." She added with a smirk and closed the door once he was in, placing the folder on her organized desk before heading towards the kitchen. "Have a seat at the table." It seemed like her kettle had seen more and more use lately, as did the teacups. "Though I warn you, there are many people at Amityville who won't leave you alone no matter what you do." Charlie being a prime example. "I suggest you keep your doors locked at all times."

Reaching up into the cabinet, the ghoul pulled down a kitten-covered kettle and filled it with water. It was... A little cute for someone like her to have. Glancing over her shoulder momentarily, a question popped into her head. "What kind of demon are you, by the way?" Sometimes she could tell, sometimes she couldn't. Everyone was different, after all. "Out of curiosity."

He looked around admiringly as he entered the room, certainly appreciating the cleanliness and attractiveness of it all, though he had to tread very carefully on the floor with his hooves, tail held out for balance and his wings unfurled a little just in case he slipped. He walked delicately over to the table and took a seat, still looking around with interest. "Very lovely room you have here by the way. Colourful." He wasn't used to much colour, his home being very much a monochrome affair and his own dorm room a mirror of this, the dark rich oaks and reds were very pleasing on the eye. "And I'll take note, anyone touching my things would...be bad. Very bad. I can only imagine what I'd do if they got hold of my in or out tray. Or my stamps. Or my pens. " He shivered at the thought. "I'll definately be keeping a lock on things, thank you at least for the tip."

He drummed his claws almost nervously on the table as he replied to her other question. "I'm a..err. Incubus." He had no idea if his type's reputation had preceeded it, with some people when he told them he was an Incubus, he could practically hear them thinking how is he ever going to seduce anything? , many halloween inhabitants took the stereotypes fairly seriously, he'd found.

"Oh. Thank you." She couldn't recall a compliment on her room before this point. "I've always admired the sight of freshly polished wood." Obsessed over it, rather. The way her room looked was one of the few things in her life she had control of. Though, the way he spoke made it sound like the things he used for paperwork were the things he held closest. How.. Odd. Then again, she had no right to judge, considering what was behind that closed door.

Before he answered, Riyo had assumed that maybe he was some sort of avarice demon, or perhaps something a little more obscure, but certainly nothing like an-

INCUBUS? FFFFFFFFFFFFF-
Thank Jack her back was turned to him, or her face might've given away the utter shock... Though, her tail had frizzed out ever so slightly as her brain processed what that might entail. In truth, the feline should've known better. She had never been particularly racist (except maybe towards vampires, those pricks...), but the thought of a demon of that nature put her on edge.

That's what she got! That's what she got for inviting people into her room. She knew better than this! Though, truth be told incubi were one of the few kinds of demons she hadn't run into during her business career. Probably because she hadn't wanted to deal with them. Shakily her hands reached up into the cabinet again, retrieving two... Adorable tea cups. Covered in- you guessed it- kittens. Man cards were apparently revoked when drinking tea with the feline. "Ah.. I see." She tried to say in a normal voice, the hiss of the kettle causing her to jump. Her second stupid decision was trying to grab it without a pot holder. "SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHIT!" Oh, today was going splendidly. She could only imagine the delayed trip to the office would go just as well.

Zar nodded, he was fond of polished wood himself, he didn't mention that the main reason he didn't have it in his room was because hooves were utterly terrible in terms of traction on anything other than a textured floor. He had noted the kettle however, but not in a negative way. He had a tie back in his room with a gambolling cat on it, anything kitschy when placed on a tie, he was a fan of. People had their little weaknesses, he just assumed that kitten laced kitchenware had to be Riyo's.

However, her perceived tension at the term, especially in her tail - an appendage he was used to reading in others thanks to how much of a giveaway his own could be - was expected to some degree. He figured he probably owed her some manner of explaination, or at least a clarification, it was always so embarassing, especially when he was so leery of anything of a sexual nature and was about to offer a little comment about how Incubi simply fed on emotions, in his case, mostly frustration, confusion and despair, when the kettle startled him aswell, almost falling out of his chair, flapping his wings in an attempt to save his balance, which he only just did, though he /had/ gotten several paper feathers on the floor in doing so.

"Oh! Are you alright?! " He winced as he watched her grab it in what had to be a painful way.

Even as he asked if she was alright, he discreetly tried to pick up the feathers with his tail, not wanting to spoil her neat floor. "I've caused you so much hassle today."

Cringing, the ghoul quickly shook her hand vigorously to try and cool it off. "I've been better!" Was the answer she gave in a panic-ridden voice before doing her best to calm down. In truth, she had been worse, too. Much worse.

An exasperated sigh escaped her mouth as she used her other hand to grab a (cat shaped) oven mitt for proper kettle removal. Her (now) bad hand could at least throw some tea bags into the cups.

"Haha, don't flatter yourself. This is a normal day for me." Truly it was.

And it appeared they weren't alone. The shout had caused a certain nergal to stir from his sleep on the cushion of her pillow. Lenses of a gas mask peeked around the corner before momentarily disappearing and reappearing.

Felix the hazcat marched into the kitchen nervously with a box of gauze tucked inbetween his strange wings, a muffled meow escaping the creature in an attempt to get his master's attention. "Mm? Oh. Thanks Felix." The larger feline gently plucked the box off the cat's shoulders and quickly bandaged her hand, a pat on the head being his reward.

"But yes. Normal day. If it's not one thing, it's another." Though, it was obvious she was still a little apprehensive about the whole incubus thing. After filling the cups with hot tea, she carefully strode back over to the table. She didn't sit it in front of him, but rather scooted it over to him nervously.

"You must have some very eventful days then. I'm surprised you still have all your limbs attached" He smiled amicably, a lot more at ease now that it was clear she still had her hand, his heart still racing from the surprise of the kettle. The hazcat however certainly caught his attention, looking surprised as the creature wandered to his owner's aid. He'd never been permitted many pets in his home so was rather intruigued. "Felix is lovely by the way." he added matter of factly, he'd have asked what exactly he was but he was terrified of making a fool of himself for accidentally asking what might end up to be a very silly question. For all he knew, this particular breed of unique cat could be found everywhere.

He couldn't help but raise a brow at the way he was offered his tea, thanking her and taking a quiet thoughtful sip of it before the idea of what the cause could be sprung to mind, remembering what they'd been discussing before the kettle interrupted them both. "Oh." He stated as he re-railed his train of thought. "And just..for clarification. I'm not the.. " he cleared his throat " carnal sort of Incubus, as demons go, we just feed on very..specific emotions. Sometimes lust. But! Not me. Frustration, despair, irritation. Those are the sort of thing my family likes." He couldn't even meet her gaze as he said it blushing faintly, taking a long sip of tea immediately after.

"Just. Sometimes people think I'm more ...or rather different than what I am." His voice even wavered amusingly as he added "Fantastic tea."

Lovely wasn't the only thing Felix was. He was smart, too. At the very least, he knew a compliment when he heard it. It wasn't demeaning, like Mot had been, and for that, the nergal silently approached where the incubus sat with a soft purr. Yes, he enjoyed company. Much more than his owner did.

"I'm sure he appreciates that, and me too... Believe it or not." She had been through many things. Many terrible things. Most of them had been during that field trip, and the worst wasn't dying. Oh no, the worst was when they... T-they....

... NO TIME TO THINK ABOUT THAT. As if she hadn't been embarrassed enough, the fact that she obviously didn't realize before that there were other types of incubi... Oh.

... OH.

For a moment the ghoul was completely silent, a pleasant hue of red rising to her cheeks. After a sip of her tea, she finally said. "Well, looks like I've made an a** of myself for a second time today." Looked like he was blushing from it too...

You know, she usually didn't have this problem. "Y-yes. It is good tea..." She agreed and cleared her own throat. Poor guy, he probably got that misconception a lot, didn't he? "Anyways... You'll find a lot of those emotions here. Just hang around after people take their exams." Better to get off that subject before either of them turned into tomatoes. "I failed mine... By a few feet." Literally. The thought brought a sort of miserable look to the ghoul's face. "Guess it doesn't matter though... I got bumped up to a knob nonetheless."

He had to fight the urge to stroke the hazcat with quite a bit of willpower as he approached, especially since whenever he felt embarassed about anything he generally had the urge to do something, anything fidgety with his hands. As it was, he gave Felix an encouraging smile before returning his attentions raptly to his owner. He shook his head "No, no, you haven't. Its a very common assumption, its why I tend to try and clarify when I can. No harm done." He hoped.

Still, he leapt onto the subject of exams as a lifeline before the subject went anywhere else he was sure to turn into a stammering mess over. He was surprised and more than a little bit impressed to find that Riyo was in actuality a second year, failed exam or not. "Ooh. Then you really have been here some time then, that's reassuring if you don't mind me saying so. I'm fortunate to meet someone who isn't as hopelessly lost as I am." He wasn't usually this polite as a rule, but something about Riyo, some kindred business sense simply made him feel that his usual defensiveness wasn't really called for in this situation, he'd laid his cards on the table and he felt she had somewhat too. It was a nice little neutral ground.

"I'm dreading things like exams and the like. Or I will. When I get down my list of aching dreads. Right about now I'm on "How will I manage to actually sleep here", but I'm sure it'll come up on my agenda sooner or later."

PostPosted: Thu Nov 24, 2011 7:46 am

Well that was disappointing. Usually people took the initiative of his approach and reached down to scratch his ears or something. Though, Felix seemed undeterred. He lacked the concept of personal space, and therefore found it proper to rub up against Zar's leg.

Before she could open her mouth to add another apology, the incubus jumped on the thoughts of exams. "Ah, I guess so. It doesn't feel like I've been here that long, all things considered. Probably don't know the school as well as some of the others." Like Jericho. He probably knew it like the back of his hand since he could fly and all.

Another sip of tea came before she spoke again. "Mmm. Yeah, sleep." Glancing over her shoulder and out the window, the ghoul sighed. "Sometimes you can hear the other students through the walls..." She mumbled with a visible cringe. "I advise playing music. Sometimes it's enough to tune them out."

He blinked in surprise as Felix rubbed up against a hoof, finally taking this as a signal that he wouldn't get claws embedded in him for stroking him, and lazily took up doing so with his tail, which was much more nimble and far less taloned than his hands, and which also meant he could keep his attention on Riyo. "Still, always nice to know someone who has been here a while reguardless, I can ask all the obnoxious sort of questions that new students inevitably come along with."

Reguarding sleep however, he was less than thrilled to hear that the soundproofing might not be up to par, nodding. "That.. should be fun. I tend to find sleeping difficult at the best of times, my body seems to reguard it as a waste, or at least unconstructive use of my time. I'll have to find some way of lulling myself into it or my time here is going to be exceptionally long and possibly manic." He smiled wrly.

"Still, reguarding those obnoxious new student questions, my parents were at one point not long ago not even going to send me here, saying there was something going on with the staff. And everyone's read the Daily's article on it. I don't particularly buy it but still. Do they do many of the..field trips, they mentioned..or is that just a lot of horsefeathers?" He figured he might as well set his mind at ease a little about one of the biggest lurking anxieties he'd run into before arriving and something which still lurked in his mind.

PostPosted: Thu Nov 24, 2011 10:18 pm

Well, some attention was better than none, certainly. Without protest, the hazcat laid down next to Zar's leg to enjoy the odd feeling of being petted by something that wasn't a hand.

As for obnoxious questions? Riyo simply rolled her eyes with a smile. From the way her fellow demon acted, she couldn't imagine the questions he posed would be that bad. "Certain kinds of tea helps sometimes." Especially on a particularly stressful day.

Ah, yes. But back to the questions. Listening intently, the ghoul lifted the teacup to her lips and began to sip... Until the words 'field trips' came up.

A muffled cough might've been an indication that she had just choked on what little she swallowed, immediately sitting the cup back down on it's saucer and gasping. "O-oh. F-field trips." It was a dreaded word to anyone who had been on one and a curious word to the blissfully ignorant, the feline of course being the former.

Doing her best to clear her throat and disguise her panicked look, Riyo folded her hands together in her lap and leaned back in her chair. What should she tell him? It was a hard decision, considering she had just met the guy. "I'll tell you what." She started, glancing off to the side. "I don't feel right telling you the details right now... Suffice it that generally there is nothing fun about field trips... And, should you have to go on one, you pack everything you might need to survive an apocalypse... Everything they'll let you carry, rather."

The memories of the field trip mentioned in the papers came floating back into her mind. "I was on the last one... And I would advise you against trying to coerce information from anyone else who attended... In public."

He wasn't offended by her reluctance to speak about the field trip, from the way the halloween media had been latching onto the idea, it was clear something was up. Even more clear as his question got such a startled reaction. He was a good listener at least and took everything she had to say well and truly on board. Curious, it seemed as if perhaps things hadn't been as blown out of proportion as he assumed, it certainly didn't alleviate his sense of anxiety about these things, but at the same time very much stoked the fires of curiosity.

"I understand if you don't want to talk about it" he conceded, he was a stranger in many respects he supposed, for all she knew he could be something to do with the boogeymen, or anything in that vein. Walls might have ears. But he had learned at least something of what he'd hoped to simply by asking. "But thank you for what you could tell me. I'll be very careful who and what I ask reguarding it while I'm here." He gave her a little subtle bow of his head before taking another thoughtful sip of the last of his tea before speaking again, deciding to change the subject once more in case his current track landed one or both of them in some kind of trouble.

"I never did remember to ask what sort of demon you are?"

PostPosted: Fri Nov 25, 2011 10:24 am

What she could tell him wasn't even the tip of the iceberg, really. It was hard to say if she was doing the right thing. What if he DID end up going on a field trip? The last one was sort of sprung on them...

Well, if that were the case, maybe she would tell him more when the time came. Until then, Zar could probably sleep a little easier with what little he knew instead of being terrified at how things really were. Even the cat ghoul couldn't deal with it sometimes.

"I'm just a simple bakeneko." Riyo answered quickly, pointing to her fuzzy black ears for a moment. "As were my parents... Probably my grandparents as well. I don't really know, though. Family heritage is neither something I know or care to know." Those assholes never did anything for her, so why would she care about who/what they were?

"As independent as a cat should be. No family to hold me down." She tried to make it sound glorious, but it really wasn't. "Huge house all to myself." She hated that house. "And a bunch of idiots I can tell what to do." She hated them more than the house. Leaning back as if she was content, Riyo let out a soft sigh. "Yep. Living the dream."

Zar raised a brow at this news, he'd heard of bakaneko from his mother but had never met any, or rather, if he had, he'd likely have seen them in their feline shape and have simply assumed they were cats for the most part, he was never hugely observant. He smiled though at her list of positives about her life, himself mentally echoing her sentiments.

"My situation isn't so different I suppose, I have a family but they are around so little they might aswell be non existant. And a huge house I had almost exclusively to myself for that reason. Not that I was very fond of that, a large house just gathers dust, memories and quiet in abundance. I wouldn't half mind the idiots to tell what to do though." He gave a wolfish smile. Zar was the kind of person you never left in charge of anything major because power went directly to his head.
