Alastair nodded as he wondered what sort of things the child would be able to do once free of the bottle. Other than her abilities relating to water, he couldn't imagine what all she would be capable of doing with the water. But there was little point pondering over it at this time. He could think up a hundred things to do with water and still not hit the mark on her abilities. It was better to simply wait and see what abilities developed over time. He just hoped whatever those abilities were he would be able to handle them.
"I'll have to remember that when the time comes," he said to Ziya. "Should her powers start getting out of control, it would be good to have a means for her to channel them." He made a mental note of that for the future. He wasn't sure what she might do to channel water abilities, but it was a good warning to be made aware of before the chaos hit.
His brow lifted slightly as he looked to Ashton and he laughed lightly. "Well, I teach at a university," Alastair said then thought some about that. "Though sometimes, they do act like children rather than the near adults that they are." He grinned and shook his head. Perhaps childhood was something that not everyone completely outgrew as they aged. "You have both given me much to think about. I should thank you for that." But how to go about thanking them?

"University? Ah sorry" Ashton smiled a little. University and college had always been something he had wanted to go through when he was in high school. However fate was a fickle thing and things rarely turned out how they were intended to be. Waving his free hand a little when the other thanked him, a half smile on his face. "No need, if I had someone to tell me these things when I first found Ziya it would have saved me alot of stress" He grinned slightly and looked over at the teen.
Ziya smiled at the other adult, glad to know another dust was in the capable hands of a kind person. He had yet to meet a dust who had horrible guardians so maybe there was something more at work. "Ashton... don't forget Heather is coming over for lunch with her baby..." The lightening teen reminded, noticing the time for the first time since they left the coffee shop.
"Ah, right right.... she'll kill us if we're late.." The raven haired male sighed. His childhood friend had finally had her baby a little while ago and they had yet to see her. "Sorry Alastair but we've got to run... but..." Ashton trailed off, handing his coffee to Ziya for a moment. Quickly he scribbled down his address quickly. before handing it to him. "Drop by if you have anything else you want to ask or anything... someones always home" Ashton smiled a little then waved to the other.
"Nice meeting you!" Ziya chimed in as they turned to leave

Alastair shook his head. "No need to apologize," he said with a reassuring smile. It wasn't the first time someone mistook him for a grade school teacher, and he doubted it would be the last time. "I imagine it would be rather stressful going into all of this knowing nothing," he agreed for imagining was all he could do at this point.
He didn't really know much about the experiences Ashton had raising Ziya. But he was counting his blessings that he had the fortune to encounter other people who were going through the same experience that he currently was going through. There was some relief in knowing a bit of what to come, but the unknown factors still caused him some apprehension. Perhaps one day, he would be sharing his experiences with someone new to finding a bottle like the one he had.
The time had gotten away from him as well, and Alastair hadn't noticed how long they stood there chatting. He had meant this to be a quick stop to grab a cup of coffee. "Don't let me keep you any longer then," he said, accepting the address. It may come in handy later, especially if the child of his bottle proved to be quite difficult. He hoped he would be a complete failure at raising the child. "It was a pleasure meeting you both." He waved as the two men headed down the street. He stood a while, taking a sip from his slightly warm coffee, then he too headed off to places he needed to be.
