The attack - Cassandra's charged attack - went wide, though anyone who faced Caelius and was not dragged immediately to the emergency rooms could testify that the man had a Fear shield based on intimidation alone: even standing right next to him it was all too easy to falter.
If the Death Hunter was looking for something, his expression gave nothing away. He simply shifted forwards, scythe raised-
- everything seemed to move in a horrified sort of slow motion as the curved weapon descended like a demented guillotine over Cassandra-
- only to seemingly fall forever and not hit. When the trainee looked at Caelius again, she would see instead, the man holding his cell phone to his ear, eyebrows knitted in annoyance. Without another word, he simply walked off, the de-summoned Circe bobbing after him.
He couldn't have timed that purposely, could he?

She would have believed he had an intimidation shield up at all times. She really would have. If she wasn't about to die. She was sure of it too, but it seemed too soon that...it just didn't happen. Cass tried to not grimace and shrink away from the familiar scythe that just...terrified everybody it seemed, but she did anyways, even against Nicodemus's suggestion.
Still, she stood there in suspense...then confusion... then she looked back to the Death Hunter who was apparently busy with his phone and making annoyed faces at it. She wouldn't press what was going on there, but... well, a part of her was disappointed when he walked away from her, leaving it at that.
Had she just won by default? She.... s**t, she wasn't going to claim it a victory in the real sense, but.. she'd survived Caelius and it was amazing. The gunblade desummoned, the chain reforming around her waist as she stared after the Death Hunter, but didn't follow.
She did, however, cup her hands around her mouth;
"THANK YOU" she called out after him, and it probably wasn't gratitude for not turning her into a smear on the ground. Though on the note of the ground, Cass sat down on it for a few minutes, if only to catch her breath. She'd go check for internal bleeding once she wasn't ready to keel over.
