While he was still a bit bitter about the lies, he was also trying to appreciate their friendship for what it was. So many things could happen... They could be killed or worse, corrupted... and regret would be all they'd be left with. Chris couldn't live like that, knowing the worst could happen and still holding onto grudges and avoiding people. He'd avoided Skye when they'd broken up years ago, and now he knew he should get over what happened in the past and just... move on. They might never get back together, but they could still be friends, right?
"Okay... Thanks," he said, watching as Paris made his way to the door, before letting out a sigh and opening up his text books again. He didn't care if Paris was seeing someone, he really didn't. It would be better that way. He, at least, wouldn't feel guilty about holding Paris back, especially since their relationship had been a sham from the beginning.
Even still, Paris was his friend and he wanted to do what he could to protect him, regardless of whether or not he needed it.
Chris glanced up to watch out the window for Paris to get in the car and for him and Ross to drive off before glancing over to the plate of cookies, allowing himself to smile lightly. He picked one up to take a bite, glad that Paris knew him well enough to know his favorite foods.
