Already done the Shadow Run? And cleared it?
The shadowlings melted away with the battlecry and a blast from Jerry's weapon, and Petra stepped back to smash a path clear for Robert. Harrison could see how Jerry had managed.
"Keep that up and we'll be finished in no time," Harrison said.

Jerry was momentarily distracted from his tirade by Harrison expression, "Yes," He managed, lips drawing back in a sneer as he suddenly fired past the Moon hunter's head with a force that made his short cropped hair frazzle. The bark from the weapon knocked a Shadowling back before it could leap down on him. "Hate, hate hate HATE them!" He stumbled, giving a fresh frustrated growl as two more leaped at him to avenge their fallen brother, only to be blown back in dissolving shadowy mist.
How were Robert and Petra doing? The thought occurred to him as he landed, catching sight of Petra taking a hit for her fiance, his face flushing.
Keep your head in the mission, Jerrbear, Roar snapped, already bristling with joy at the feelings of replenished Fear.

Harrison cringed as Jerry almost gave him more than a haircut. Hate was about as good a motivation as anything else. He didn't have anything personal against the shadows, but it sure looked like Jerry did.
Whatever got the job done.
"I'll uh, I'll stay out of your way," Harrison said sheepishly.

Jerry stumbled forward around the bend in the hallway, his heart racing. He could do this. He was doing it. This was okay. He was in an okay place.
The hallways were almost familiar, and some deep, sadistic part of him imagined the shadowlings to be children, all milling about avoiding class and plotting the next prank on their young, new, and entirely too wobbly teacher. Well... well... well NUTS to all of them!
You don't even curse on your own psychotic babbling? Roar snickered, feeling as though he were flying, singing, and most importantly *howling* as Jerry wrenched him around to blast a shadowling that had been crawling up the doorway, as though to escape into a classroom. "If... If we can herd them all towards one of the rooms..." He panted, stumbling back towards his group, "We can destroy them more easily... Roar's ready to roar." He was grinning, now, a wild look in his eyes that threatened he was going to start humming any moment.

Robert barely had enough time to see the shadowling before Petra was stepping up, and he stumbled forward, trying to pull her back.
"Stop that, Jesus Christ Pet." He whispered, just a little embarrassed. "Are you all right? Do you need - HOLY s**t -"
Another shadowling flung at him, and his scythe swung high - completely, completely missing it.

And that was when the onslaught came.
She had had every intention of returning to Jerry. There were strength in numbers -- isn't that why they had teamed up with the Alphas, back on the island? -- and with Dr. H's cheerful not-quite-warning of the infestation still burning like a hot iron in the back of her mind, a warning of what was most surely coming for them. There should have been no doubt in any of their minds that this would be difficult, and that they might not make it back alive, even with their combined strengths. Split up, they didn't have a snowball's chance in hell. Spinning back towards the direction they had come, Petra had been all but in motion when the dingy florescent light above them began to fade in flicker, her body jolting a bit to stop only a few steps from her starting position. For a breath, there was nothing, only Robert's whispered voice, and she tilted her head back over her shoulder a little without moving her eyes from down the hallway where Jerry and Harrison had disappeared towards the classrooms.
"Bobby..." she started, her own voice low as well, blue eyes sliding slowly over the walls, where the shadows had subtly started to slink towards them, "I thin--"
She didn't have time to say anymore than that. From behind her, Robert's deep curse suddenly boomed in startling clarity off the walls, the sound of a blade whistling in the air as it struck out at something reaching her ears not a second later. It took no more than that length of time for her to spin back, Cain lifted above her head, barely bringing it down to crack the tile with the sharp, spiked head, the sickening sound of squelching filling the air as it smashed the skull of the one attacking Robert. Something black and thick like congealed blood splattered up from the dead shadow creature, spraying over her legs and clothes, the slight hiss of something burning rising with the rivelets of steam. Petra winced, but didn't seem too hindered by it, already moving to press against his back, lifting her mace in front of her defensively, silver spikes dripping with the dead creature's blood.
"We have to get back to Jerry. Push forward, I'll cover you."
More swarmed around them, dropping from the ceiling to try to box them in, keep them from rejoining their team.

His second swing met with much more satisfying results, despite not really aiming very well. Robert just swung blindly, and hoped for the best. This time around, the best was three of the little suckers.
"Sunshine, baby, I can't watch you get hurt like this, it's killing me." Silently, he thanked God he'd somehow had the clarity to get those band-aids before they'd been attacked. He nodded at her command, and started barging through, scythe whistling as it twirled in front of him.

"Well if you want to try, I'm not going to say no. Start sweet talking them into it, maybe they'll listen to you. Looks like you've got their attention, anyhow."
Harrison kept an eye on the circling shadows.

"I'm fine. It's less than nothing," she replied, insistent to put his fears to rest. It was the truth -- had she fallen and scraped her knee, it would have had the same level of annoyance to her, especially in the situation they were in. Adrenaline would help ease the subtle ache of the scratch and light burn as the fight wore on, if he had any concern about it, but she was not worried, not about a scratch. More importantly, they both knew it was either he get them out of there, or not at all. Robert was stronger than she was, a hell of a lot stronger, the well-toned muscles of his shoulders and arms apparent even through the hunter's coat, leaving her own lithe frame pathetic in comparison. Petra wasn't going to be able to power through the monsters, and they both knew it -- they needed him to be completely untouched by the attackers, so that he could deal the most damage.
Swinging Cain in a warning arch behind him at a group of shadows as they approached, she moved to side, pointed backward in comparison to his own stance, her arm pressed against his.
"You're going to get us out alive."
She was a moon hunter for a reason. He would have to get used to her being his shield.

He felt Petra against him, and let out a sharp sigh. Get her out alive? She was counting on him.
And it felt real damn good.
Robert's scythe hit just a little bit steadier, aimed just a little bit more accurately, and killed twice as many shadowlings as last time.
"Anything for you, sunshine." He growled with a grin.

"ROBERT! PETRA!" Jerry's eyes still had that glazed over look of a man at his wit's end about to burst, but he was hanging on, keeping his head. "Stop flirting and drive them over here!"
The shadows were swarming, crawling up the walls, filling the classroom, pushing in to surround his team, and with a flash of green light from his weapon across his glasses, the Sun Hunter in training whipped his cannon around to surge down the hallway, glass windows shattering, eardrums ringing from the howl that wasn't so much a howl as, indeed, a roar.

Harrison had seen that before. The room lit up and a roar cut through a mess of shadows. At this point it was less protecting Jerry and more just watching him work.
"Ha!" Harrison barked out in the ringing aftermath. "Sweetest talking I ever heard!"

"OI!" Robert hollered as he slammed his scythe into several more shadowlings, cutting a path through to Jerry without even blinking. "I'M PRETTY SURE I CAN FLIRT WITH HER AND KICK SOME a**, PUNK."
And to prove it, even as his scythe slid into a shadowling, he tugged Petra up and kissed her on the forehead, with his eyes on Jerry like a challenge.
That's how you keep a girl, Jerry.

Did Jerry care he was annoying the heck out of Robert? No. The shadows were at his mercy, and the wild look in his eyes and manic grin had taken over. His mind was somewhere between here and there, but the key point was... he was doing this. He wasn't fainting, he wasn't screaming and running and hiding. His palms had even stopped sweating.
He was a Sun Hunter.
Okay, maybe not yet but.
He was on his way.
He could do this.
Nuts to- No, <********> the shadows.

He didn't want to admit it.
Robert really didn't want to admit it, now that the masks were off and it was clear who was who, but damn.
That was a good song for the occasion. And he was sorely tempted to join in.
